- Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is defined as illness caused by a novel coronavirus now called severe acute respiratory syndrome. The only common thing to be evaluated in the flu category is that it is caused by the virus. The diseases have caused serious health problems and social problems throughout the world. The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of the faculty of sport sciences students about the changes in the education system during COVID-19 Pandemic. Case Study Pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The data were collected virtually by interview method. The sample of the study consisted of 18 students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Çukurova University (Male: 13, Female: 5). Descriptive content analysis method was used to analyze the data. The data summarized and interpreted through descriptive analysis, coded themes and sub-themes were created. Subjects such as "the opportunity to watch the lesson again", "Protecting health", "Ease of focus", "Exam advantage", "Ease of access for students with disabilities", "Facilities provided by the university administration", "encouraging research" are positive opinions about distance education. Conditions such as "Problems in the Distance Education Infrastructure", "Lack of Education Face to Face", "Negative Emotion due to Pandemic", "Exam Anxiety" were found as negative findings. As a result, it is seen that the distance education system is advantageous in some aspects and disadvantageous in some aspects due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution suggestions presented for the elimination of problems in the distance education system are as follows, both in our study and other studies in the literature. "Improving distance education infrastructure", "Using web-based additional applications", "Assigning homework instead of exams, being fair in grading", "Exemption and adding additional courses to accelerated programs", "Producing solutions for increasing efficiency in practice classes", "ensuring ease of transportation", etc. We think that the state institutions should take the necessary precautions by considering the solutions based on scientific studies.

- Abstract
Energy drinks are often used by sedanter individuals as well as by individuals engaged in sports. The purpose of this study is to determine the energy drinks consumption habits of the students of PES. Total of 102 (Female:33/Male:69) from Çukurova University PES students were chosen as the participants since they were to be aware of the impact of energy drinks. Data utilizing descriptive and causal comparative research methods revealed that 42.2% of participants reported using energy drink while 57.8% did not. The energy consumption ratios of the users versus non-user compared in terms of socio-demographic variables such as "sex", "age", "socioeconomic status", "living place", "income situation", "place of birth" and "lifestyle" categories did not show any statistically significant differences (p>0,05). In relation to the causes of consuming energy drinks, both consumers and non-consumers stated that energy drinks were for "being vigorous or energetic (34,9%)", "keeping energy high while doing sports (32,6%)" and "mixing with alcohol (16,3%)". Total of 60,7% of all participants and 74,4% of those who regularly use energy drinkers reported that they do not know the harm of energy drinkers. Since energy drinks contain caffeine or other stimulants, consumption during intensive physical activity is not recommended. Therefore, consumption of energy drinks during intensive physical activity is not recommended. Consequently, although energy consumption in low quantities provides some temporary advantages for healthy people, it can trigger many health problems when examined from the general population standpoint. More consciousness-raising activities on energy consumption in particular in individuals with chronic systemic disorders and in special groups such as sportsmen may reduce unconscious consumption which can cause serious health problems.

Background: Tennis requires movement abilities in changing playing situations. This article investigates the relationship between lower extremity strength asymmetry ratio and linear and multidimensional running performances in female tennis players. Methods: A total of 56 female tennis players, with a mean age of 15.44 ± 0.50 years, participated in the study—the research design involved three sessions at 48-hour intervals. In the first session, athletes performed dominant and non-dominant countermovement jump (CMJ) and board jump (BJ) tests. The second (sec) session included 10-meter (−m) and 30-m linear running performance tests, while the final session assessed multidimensional running performance with a change of direction (COD) test. The relationship between CMJ and BJ asymmetry ratios and linear and multidimensional running performances was analysed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Bilateral asymmetry rates in linear and multidimensional running performance were determined through linear regression analysis. Results: The dominant CMJ recorded 17.56 ± 3.47 cm, while BJ was 130.23 ± 21.76 cm, and the non-dominant CMJ measured 16.79 ± 4.51 cm with a BJ of 147.52 ± 30.97 cm. The athletes had a CMJ asymmetry rate of 12.67 ± 11.29% and a BJ asymmetry rate of 7.19 ± 5.28%. A relationship was seen between the CMJ asymmetry rate and 30-m running performance (r = 0.368, p < 0.05). There was no correlation between BJ asymmetry rate and 10-m running performance. Significant correlations were found between 30-m (r = 0.364) and COD (r = 0.529) running performances (p < 0.05). Conclusions: It can be said that the CMJ asymmetry ratio may negatively affect 30-m and the BJ asymmetry ratio may negatively affect 30-m and COD performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study is to investigate relation between injury paterns with hypermobility, body composition and some anthropometric characteristics on 16-22 ages women volleyball players. This study was performed on 101 volunteer athletes playing in 12 different teams at various level of Turkish Volleyball Leagues. Some anthropometric characteristics, somatotype values, body fat values, sports injury history and hipermobility level of the athletes' were determined. Somatotype characteristics of athletes' were evaluated by Heath-Carter Formula, body fat percentage was calculated by Sloan and Weir Formula and hypermobility level was determined by Beighton Score. In this study, no significant statistical relations were found between somatotype characteristics. Conversely, significant statistical relations were found between BMI, body fat percentage and sports injury (p=0,05). In this study, significant statistical relation between hypermobility and sports injury was obtained(p=0,01). No research was found in literature regarding on hypermobility and injury risk on volleyball players. On the other hand, some reported studies on different sports show smilar results with this study. In conclusion, it was found that joint hypermobility enhances the risk of sports injury on 16-22 ages women volleyball players. According to us; medical examination before the sports participation and appropriate injury therapy provide better protection. The main purpose of this study is to determine the predictive power of group cohesion and perceived motivational climate for collective efficacy perception in the football teams. This study was performed on 156 players including fifty-nine women and ninety-seven men. Collective Efficacy Scale, The Group Environment Questionnaire and Perceived Motivational Climate Scale in Sports were applied to the participants. Descriptive statistics, Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis technique were used in the analysis of the obtained data. The results show that collective efficacy scores have a positive correlation with all subscales of group cohesion and with mastery-oriented motivational climate. The results of the Multiple Linear Regression Analysis indicated that the group's individual attractiveness-task dimension and mastery-oriented motivational climate dimensions are significant predictors of collective efficacy and 23% of the total variance of the collective efficacy score. Findings in the research partially support the hypothesis that task cohesion and masteryoriented motivational climate are positively associated with collective efficacy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous studies have discussed that religious beliefs, traditions and social barriers seriously constrain women's participation in physical activity and sports. In Turkey, however, although there are no restrictions against the participation of women in either physical activities or sports in the legal sense, it has been reported in many scientific research-projects conducted that certain segments of the society have a negative attitude against sports. The aim of this study was to determine the history of the women's volleyball in Turkey where confusion prevails between Easternization and Westernization. In this connection, the paper reports on how women's volleyball has undergone a successful silent revolution and become internationally successful by overcoming religious and traditional barriers. In conclusion, the international successes of the Turkish Women's Volleyball in spite of its short history, has not emerged as a result of a generally widespread and institutionalized volleyball culture in the country. Ever since volleyball has emerged in Turkey, it has attained permanent success with the extraordinary contributions of the Istanbul teams with large budgets, teams owned by state organizations, company teams and individuals like Selim Sırrı Tarcan, Sabbiha Rifat Erayman and members of the Eczacıbaşı family who were devoted supporters of sports, especially women's volleyball. Sport injuries frequently happened in power-based sports like the volleyball. In order to prevent injuries before they appeared, it should be known reasons and risk factors. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate sports injuries happened in match. In this study 200 matches were analyzed from First Women's Volleyball League during the 2011-2016 period. "Match Observation Form" developed by researcher was used. In addition the researcher, two independent expert observers in volleyball analyzed the match records and filled the forms. All forms were compared carefully. Analyzed matches, 49 sports injuries were observed. However, 61.20%(30) of all injuries were temporary injuries ensured continuing the competition by the medical care and 38.80%(19) were serious injuries hindered continuing the play. In this context, there were 0.24 injuries per match. Upper body injury rate was 40.80% (20) whereas lower body injury rate was 59.20% (29). While block was the most dangerous technique of the play at the %55.10(27) injury rates, spike, defense and other techniques had slightly lower risk at the 12.20%(6) and 32.60%(16), respectively. In other words, 67.30%(33) of the all injuries occurred in front of the net where was repeatedly performed block and spike techniques. In conclusion, injury risk was significant in volleyball. Especially, the athletes playing front area were at greater risk in comparison with back area players. Correctly jumping and landing practices should be reduced the risk. It has suggested that the relationship between the injuries and game rules related net contact and middle line. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Football, as the whole world is one of the most popular sport in Turkey. With the intensive use of scientific developments in the field of sports in recent years, the number of scientific studies on sports branches has increased significantly. The aim of the study is made of bibliographic analysis done doctoral thesis on football in Turkey. In this study, the subjects that the theses focus on were tried to be determined by content analysis method. Higher Education Institution (YÖK) National Thesis Center Database was used as data source. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that there are 1347 doctoral dissertations on sports. 14.32% (193) of these theses were made on football branch. 155 of the theses are open to full access. However, access to the full text of 38 theses is restricted. When the distribution of doctoral dissertations according to universities is examined, it is seen that 25,90% (50 of them) are made in Gazi University and 18,65% (36) of them are made in Marmara University. These high rates are followed by Ankara University with a rate of 5.18% (10), 19 Mayıs University with a rate of 3.63% (7), and Ege University and Anadolu University with a rate of 3.63%. When the distribution of theses according to the written language is examined, it is seen that only 4,14% (8) of the theses are written in English. 95.86% of the theses were written in Turkish. It was found that the distribution of the doctoral theses examined was higher in management sciences (29.53-57%) and psychosocial areas (26.94-52%). The fields of sports physiology (18.65% - 36%), and movement and training science (18.65% - 36%) were the most followed. On the other hand, it was seen that 3.10% (6) in sports health sciences and 1.53% (3) in thesis (3) were made on disabled people. On the other hand, it was seen that there was only one thesis on gender in football (0.05%). As a result, the results obtained in this study show that nearly half of the doctoral dissertations in football were conducted at Gazi University and Marmara University. We think that studies on gender and disabled people should be increased in football. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

When the distribution of published doctoral theses according to universities is examined, it is seen that 28% (14) of the theses are made in Gazi University and 14% (7) of them are made in Marmara University. These high rates are followed by Hacettepe University with 10% (5) and Abant İzzet Baysal University with 10% (5). When the distribution of theses according to written language is examined, it is seen that only 4% of theses are written in English language. The remaining 96% of the theses were written in Turkish. When the distribution of doctoral theses examined according to the fields was examined, it was found that there were higher studies in the fields of movement and training sciences (24%-12), psychosocial areas (20-10%) and sports physiology (20%-10). The fields of management sciences (14% - 7) and disabled researches (12% - 6) are the most followed areas. As a result, the results obtained in the study show that nearly half of the doctoral theses made in the field of basketball were conducted in Gazi University and Marmara University. The lack of a doctoral dissertation on gender in basketball may be seen as a negative finding of the study. We think that it is a positive situation that the proportion of studies on wheelchair athletes (disabled) is relatively high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gymnastics is one of the most common sports in the world. When the studies in the literature are examined, it is reported that gymnastics is a sport that helps to gain physical, motoric and psychological competences which are necessary for many sports branches. The aim of this study is to examine the dissertations are performed on Gymnastics in Turkey. In this study, the subjects that the theses focus on were tried to be determined by content analysis method. Higher Education Institution (YÖK) National Thesis Center Database was used as data source. When the distribution of doctoral dissertations according to universities is examined, it is seen that 21.05% (4) of theses are performed in Gazi University and 21.05% of theses are performed in Marmara University. Middle East Technical University, Ataturk University, Celal Bayar University, Ege University, Ankara University, Cukurova University, Hacettepe University, Abant Izzet Baysal University and Uludag University were studied once. When the distribution of doctoral theses examined by fields is examined, movement and training sciences (47.37%), psycho-social areas (26.32%), sports physiology (21.05%) and sports management (5.28%). As a result, the results obtained in the study show that nearly half of the doctoral theses in the gymnastics branch were conducted in Gazi University and Marmara University. The fact that there are so few doctoral theses in one of the main sports such as gymnastics can be seen as a negative finding of the study. In addition, the fact that no doctoral dissertation was written on special groups such as disabled, elderly, pregnant, etc. It can be seen as another negative finding of the study. We believe that more and more comprehensive studies should be performed on issues such as increasing sport success, preserving the health of athletes and disseminating and teaching gymnastics. Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world. In addition to professional athletes, millions of people play volleyball for amateur and recreational purposes around the world. This intense interest in volleyball leads to many scientific studies on the scientific environment. The aim of this study is to examine the doctoral dissertation performed on volleyball in Turkey. In this study, the subjects that the theses focus on were tried to be determined by content analysis method. Higher Education Institution (YÖK) National Thesis Center Database was used as data source. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that there are 1347 doctoral dissertations on sports. 2.45% of these theses (33) were performed on volleyball. 24 of the theses are open to full access. However, access to the full text of 9 theses is restricted. When the distribution of published doctoral theses according to universities is examined, it is seen that 39.40% (13) of the theses are made in Gazi University and 18.20% (6) in Marmara University. These high rates are followed by Kocaeli University with 9.09% (3), Ankara University with 6.06% (2) and 19 Mayıs University with 6.06% (2). When the distribution of theses according to written language is examined, it is seen that there is no thesis written in English language. All these were written in Turkish. When the distribution of doctoral theses examined according to the fields was examined, it was found that there were more studies in the fields of movement and training sciences (27.27% - 9) and physiology (21.21% - 7). The areas of skill learning (15.15% - 5) and biomechanics (12.12% - 4) were the most followed. On the other hand, it was seen that the thesis was made in the field of sports health sciences by 6,06% (2) and in psychosocial fields by 9.09% (3). The fact that there is no doctoral dissertation on gender in a country with a high perception of women's sports like volleyball is thought provoking. In addition, there is no doctoral dissertation on disability volleyball, known as sitting volleyball. As a result, the results obtained in the study indicate that nearly half of the doctoral dissertations in the field of volleyball were conducted in Gazi University and Marmara University. We think that studies on gender and disabled people should be increased in volleyball. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
