2,4,8-Trialkyl-3-thia-1,5-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octanes have been obtained by the and of 1,2-ethanediamine with aldehydes RCHO (R═Me, Et, Pr n, Bu n, Pent n) and H2S at molar ratio 1:3:2 at 0°C. The increase in molar ratio of thiomethylation mixture RCHO-H2S (6:4) at 40°C resulted in selective formation of bis-(2,4,6-trialkyl-1,3,5-dithiazinane-5-yl)ethanes. Cyclothiomethylation of aliphatic α,ω-diamines with aldehydes RCHO (R═Me, Et) and H2S at molar ratio 1:6:4 and at 40°С led to α,ω-bis(2,4,6-trialkyl-1,3,5-dithiazinane-5-yl)alkanes. Stereochemistry of 2,4,8-trialkyl-3-thia-1,5-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octanes have been determined by means of 1H and 13С NMR spectroscopy and further supported by DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. The structure of α,ω-bis(2,4,6-trialkyl-1,3,5-dithiazinane-5-yl)alkanes was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A convenient, efficient, and practical method for the synthesis of 1,3,5-thiadiazinan-4-(thi)ones via a multicomponent condensation of urea (or thiourea), formaldehyde and hydrogen sulfide in the presence of a four-fold molar excess of n-BuONa is described. It provides the novel acid- (H2SO4) and base- (n-BuONa)-promoted approach for the one-pot synthesis of the amidine containing macroheterocycles from guanidine and diphenylguanidine. An efficient one-pot process for the synthesis of 3-substituted phospholanes and α,ω-bisphospholanes was developed. The method involves the replacement of aluminium in aluminacyclopentanes, prepared in situ by catalytic cycloalumination of α-olefins and α,ω-diolefins, by phosphorus atoms on treatment with dichlorophosphines (R'PCl2). Hydrogen peroxide oxidation and treatment with S8 of the synthesized phospholanes and α,ω-bisphospholanes afforded the corresponding 3-alkyl(aryl)-1-alkyl(phenyl)phospholane 1-oxides, 3-alkyl(aryl)-1-alkyl(phenyl)phospholane 1-sulfides, bisphospholane 1,1'-dioxides, and bisphospholane 1,1'-disulfides in nearly quantitative yields. The complexes LMo(CO)5 (L = 3-hexyl-1-phenylphospholane, 3-benzyl-1-methylphospholane, 1,2-bis(1-phenylphospholan-3-yl)ethane, and 1,6-bis(1-phenylphospholan-3-yl)hexane were prepared by the reaction of 3-substituted phospholanes and α,ω-bisphospholanes with molybdenum hexacarbonyl. The structure of the complexes was proved by multinuclear (1)H, (13)C, and (31)P spectroscopy.
