Abstract

The possible future roles of rhetorical processes on communication in the 21st century are discussed. Communication determines meaning, while meaning is influenced by cultural and social factors. It is predicted that rhetorical analysts will include gender, race and class in their studies and that they will integrate media in studying rhetorical practices. Rhetorical analysts will also explore the verbal and visual aspects of rhetoric and will utilize historical, critical and theoretical viewpoints.
