We have read with great interest the article titled “Improvement in cardiac function after renal transplantation in four patients with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction,” which was written by Aslanger et al.1 Authors evaluated preoperative and postoperative echocardiographic results including improvement of systolic and diastolic functions of four patients who underwent kidney transplantation because of kidney failure. We would like to first thank the authors that we do also inspect the improvement of cardiac function and recovery of the ventricular diameters in these patient groups after transplantation as our institution is also a major transplantation center in the country. The authors discussed their findings and they have stated that the improvement might be related to multiple parameters including the correction of volume and pressure overload, the restoration of normal hemoglobin levels, the clearance of uremic toxins, and being able to take heart failure medications. Even though major studies which have been held about this subject by Wali et al2 and Hawwa et al3 found no significant association between urea reduction ratio and body mass index in these patient groups, they have also stated that the change of ejection might be related to volume overload and uremic toxins, similar to your comments. However, there is no information about the hemoglobin levels, urea levels, and weight or body mass index of the patients before and after the transplantation in your cases. We believe that providing this information in your patient group would benefit the discussion and assessment of your findings. 35346916

Mitral valve is a complex cardiac structure composed of several components to work in synchrony to allow blood flow into left ventricle during diastole and not to allow blood flow into left atrium during systole. Accessory mitral valve tissue (AMVT) was defined as existence of any additional part and parcel of valvular structure which has an attachment to normal mitral valve apparatus in left-sided cardiac chambers. AMVT may present itself in different clinical circumstances ranging from a silent clinical course to thromboembolic events, heart failure, left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, and severe arrhythmia. This article reviews the clinical perspectives of AMVT in terms of symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment, providing a new anatomical classification regarding the location of AMVT. Briefly type I refers to AMVT having attachments on the supra leaflets level, type II refers to attachments on the mitral leaflets, and type III refers to attachment below the mitral leaflets. Increased awareness and widespread use of echocardiographic techniques would increase recognition of AMVT in patients with heart murmurs but otherwise healthy and in those with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction or tissue which causes subaortic stenosis and with unexplained cerebrovascular events. © 2020 WOS:000600975900010 Q3

A simple and fast method for preparing chitosan (CH)/conducting polymer (CP) composite film with and without reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was realized to investigate the effect of rGO on an optoelectrochemical system. For this purpose, firstly rGO was successfully dispersed in the acidic aqueous solution of CH by ultrasonic agitation. One by one CH and CH/rGO blend deposited on an indium tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass electrode by drop-casting method. After that, N-1,N-4-bis(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl) terephthalamide (m(BT)) electroactive monomer was deposited onto CH and CH/rGO modified ITO electrode surfaces via electrochemical polymerization. Electrochemical and optical properties of the composite structures were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique and UV-vis spectroscopy. The surface characterizations of nanocomposites have been performed by scanning electron microscopy. It was observed that, chemical functionalities of CH, rGO and p(BT) provide excellent compatibility. Therefore, the CH/rGO/p(BT) electroactive nanocomposite has better conductivity, stability, charge density, electrochromic switching kinetics and electrochemical properties than the CH/p(BT) and p(BT)/rGO composites. This is due to more efficient synergistic effect between CH, rGO and p(BT) which provide larger active surface area and ease ion transport. This method for producing composite films with novel optical, electrical and stability properties has been gaining a new perspective in the material world, which enables smart and advanced material design in various practical applications especially for designing molecular detection systems. Kolza küspesi önemli bir yem kaynağıdır. Glikosinolat ve sinapin asit esterleri kolza küspesinde kaliteyi düşüren en önemli iki unsurdur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, farklı azot dozlarında (N1: 0 kg/da, N2: 13 kg/da ve N3:26 kg/da), 19 kışlık kolza çeşidinde yem kalitesini ilgilendiren ve olumsuz etkileyen glikosinolat ve sinapin asit esterlerinde azot gübrelemesine bağlı olarak görülen değişimlerin saptanmasıdır. Deneme tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre iki yıllık süre ile Çanakkale koşullarında kurulmuştur. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre her iki özellik bakımından çeşitler arasında her gübreleme düzeyinde önemli farkların bulunduğu saptanmıştır. Glikosinolat ve sinapin asit esteri analizleri NIRS (near infrared reflection spectroscopy) ile yapılmıştır. Glikosinolat oranı bakımından bulunan ortalama değerler, azot dozlarına göre sırasıyla 7.75, 8.35 ve 11.05 μmol gr-1, sinapin asit esterleri için ise 0.24, 0.27 ve 0.36 μmol gr-1olarak bulunmuştur. Azot gübrelemesine bağlı olarak her iki özelliğin de artış gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Bu bilgiler ışığında yapılacak azot gübrelemelerinde küspe kalitesinin de korunması bakımından dozların iyi ayarlanması gerekmektedir

Son yıllarda meydana gelen iklimsel değişimler yeni bitki türlerinin tarımsal üretimde yaygınlaştırılmasını zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Bu konuda ülkemizde sınırlı alanlarda yetiştiriciliği yapılan keten önemli bir alternatif ürün olma niteliğindedir. Bu çalışmada sekiz keten genotipinin, tohum verimi, kalite özellikleri ve yaklaşık enerji değerleri bakımından karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Denemeler 2007 ve 2008 yılında Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, Ziraat Fakültesi, Dardanos Araştırma ve Uygulama Birimi’nde tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada kullanılan genotiplerin tek bitki verimi (g), protein (%), yağ (%), karbonhidrat (%), kül (%) ve kuru madde (%) oranının yanı sıra yaklaşık enerji değerleri (kcal) belirlenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre, tek bitki verimi bakımından Flanders (1,20 g/bitki), yağ oranı bakımından Midin (% 38,6) ve yaklaşık enerji değeri bakımından Norman (454,9 kcal), karbonhidrat ve kül içeriği bakımından McGregor (% 9,62 ve % 4,23) genotipleri diğer genotiplerden üstün bulunmuştur. İncelenen özelliklerden bazıları arasında istatistikî açıdan önemli ilişkiler tespit edilmiş ve en yüksek korelasyon yağ oranı ile toplam enerji değeri arasında (r=0,89) bulunmuştur.. Recently, global climate changes force to introduce new crop species into agricultural production. For this purpose, linseed, which is gown in a limited area in Turkey, could be an alternative crop. In this study, the aim was to compare eight linseed genotypes for seed yield, quality characteristics and energy values. Experiments were conducted in Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Dardanos Experimental Unit during 2007 and 2008 according to randomized block experimental design. In the study, plant yield (g/plant), protein (%), oil (%), carbohydrate (%), ash (%), dry matter (%) and energy value (kcal) were determined. The results showed that Flanders (1.20 g/plant) for plant yield, Midin (38.6%) for oil ratio, Norman (454.9 kcal) for energy value and McGregor (9.62% and 4.23%, respectively) for carbohydrate and ash ratio had advantages compared to the rest of genotypes. Significant relationships among some investigated characters were also detected. The highest correlation coefficient (r=0.89) was found between oil ratio and total energy value.

Salinity is one of the main limiting factors for agricultural production. This is especially true in arid and semi-arid regions of the world like Turkey. The objective of this study was to determine if the effect ofsalt concentration on the physiological and physiological features of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus L) could be measured using remote sensing techniques. Sunflower seedlings were grown undercontrolled conditions and irrigated with ½ Hoagland Solution containing three different concentrations of NaCl (salt) (0.0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5%). The results showed that plant growth decreased proportionallywith increasing levels of NaCl. Chlorophyll concentration and a Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) were derived for the plants using a spectroradiometer. There was found to be a significant (r2 = 0.76) correlation between chlorophyll and NDVI values. Therefore, factors that can be derived through remote sensing such as NDVI and chlorophyll can be used to indirectly demonstrate the impact salinity has on sunflower plants. Therefore, agriculturalists can assess growth rate changes caused by salinity using remote sensing techniques.

The sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps Put. (Hemiptera: Scutelleridae), also known as sting or cereal pest, is one of the most economically important pests of wheat in the world. In this study, a collapsiblenylon cloth cage experiments were conducted to determine the feasibility of using remote sensing techniques to detect stress in wheat caused by the density of sunn pests. The results show we candetect the amount of stress in wheat caused by different life stages of sunn pest with a hand-held radiometer. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) based indices; NDVIsg, NDVId, NDVIr, andstructure insensitive pigment index (SIPI) were chosen out of 19 indices initially tested. The NDVI based vegetation indices derived from hyperspectral data, recorded by a hand held spectroradiometer, were used to determine the predicted indices using the initial number of Sunn Pest (NOSP). Overall, r2 values of all predicted indices calculated for 3rd instars were lower than those of 4th and adult stage. When r2was considered separately, predicted NDVIr index value (87.4) was the highest and predicted SIPI index value is lowest (80.7) in 3rd instars. The highest r2 value was obtained in adult stage of sunn pest isNDVIsg (96.9) compare with NDVId (95.5), NDVIr (92.4) and SIPI (94.2). It was also concluded that remote sensing could detect not only the different stages pest damage on wheat, but also the number of sunnpest stages density affect in controlled experiments.

Background: Reduced heart rate recovery (HRR) in coronary artery disease (CAD) is predictive of increased cardiovascular mortality and is related to reduced parasympathetic tonus. Objective: To investigate HRR and heart rate variability (HRV) measured at steady state condition and the relationship between these two parameters in CAD. Materials and Methods: In our study, we enrolled 33 (28 males, mean age 52.4 +/- 9.6 years) patients with CAD who did not have heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pacemaker, and any disease state that could affect the autonomic functions and 38 age-matched healthy subjects (21 males, mean age 48.3 +/- 7.8 years). All the patients underwent submaximal treadmill exercise testing (Bruce protocol). HRR was calculated by subtracting the heart rate values at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd minutes of the recovery phase from the peak heart rate (HRR1, HRR2, HRR3). Before exercise testing, short-term steady state HRV analyses of all subjects were obtained with the time- and frequency-domain methods and were correlated to HRR. For frequency-domain analysis, low-frequency HRV (LF, 0.004-0.15 Hz), high-frequency HRV (HF, 0.15-0.5 Hz), and LF/HF ratio were measured for 5 minutes in the morning. For time-domain analysis, standard deviation of the normal-to-normal NN intervals (SDNN), square root of the mean squared differences of successive N-N intervals (RMSSD), and proportion derived by dividing the number of interval differences of successive N-N intervals greater than 50 ms by the total number of N-N intervals (pNN50) were obtained. Only HRR3 was used for the correlation analysis. Results: In CAD groups, the HF, an indicator of parasympathetic activation, was significantly reduced, whereas the LF and LF/HF values, which are indicators of sympathetic activity, were increased (P = 0.0001 for each parameter). The time-domain parameters SDNN, RMSSD, and pNN50 were significantly reduced in the patient group (P = 0.0001, P = 0.009, and P = 0.0001, respectively). Similar to the HRV parameters, the HRR1, HRR2, and HRR3 values were significantly reduced in the patient group (P = 0.0001 for each parameter). We observed a significant negative correlation between HRR3 and LF (r =-0.67, P = 0.0001) and between HRR3 and LF/HF (r =-0.62, P < 0.0001), while there was a significant positive correlation between HRR3 and HF, SDNN, RMSSD, and pNN50 (r = 0.69, P = 0.0001; r = 0.41, P = 0.0001; r = 0.31, P = 0.008; and r = 0.44, P = 0.0001). Conclusions: HRR and HRV are significantly reduced in CAD. The reduction in HRR is parallel to the changes in HRV parameters. HRR, which can be measured easily in the recovery phase of exercise testing, can be used to detect the depression of parasympathetic tonus and to evaluate the basal autonomic balance in this patient group. In this study, the effect of phosphorus on microstructure and mechanical properties of leaded-tin bronze was investigated by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction techniques, and tensile, fatigue and adhesive wear tests. It was observed that phosphorus prevented the growth of (Zn, Cu)S, which is a brittle and undesirable phase, by surrounding its environment, and therefore it increased the fatigue life and tensile strength of the material significantly, but it decreased the wear resistance of the material by increasing the mass loss at the initial stage of wear. It was concluded that the leaded-tin bronzes containing phosphorus can be preferred in manufacturing machine elements in which fatigue life is important. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.

In this work, the effect of manganese (Mn) on microstructure and mechanical properties of leaded-tin bronze was studied by using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy techniques, and tensile, fatigue and adhesive wear tests. It was observed that Mn decreased the wear resistance at the beginning stage of wear and markedly increased the fatigue life by preventing the formation of brittle and fragile (Zn, Cu)S phase, but it did not affect importantly the yield point, tensile strength, elongation and hardness. It was concluded that leaded-tin bronzes containing Mn can be preferred in manufacturing of machine elements in which fatigue is important. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
