Parkinson's disease is neurodegenerative, and additionally, a percentage higher than 60% is represented by the patients with associated psychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety disorders and depression. Due to illness itself and to therapy secondary effects, there is a high risk for these patients to develop impulse control disorders like ICDs: compulsive shopping, pathological gambling binge eating disorder, and hypersexuality. There is high interest in therapy so as to diminish, as much as possible, the associated ICD symptoms. This article presents a study on pharmacological treatment of impulse control disorders in Parkinson disease carried on a sample of patients in hospitals where the authors have their clinical work. This study was carried on for a period of 6 years and is focused on research of different treatment plans. The patients were evaluated by the Hamilton Rating Scale. Statistical analysis of the obtained data (given by the HAM-A scores) is used for data processing. All patients showed a reduction in their impulse behavior. The directions of further research development are mentioned.

Background/Objectives: Migraine is one of the most common diseases in highly developed countries, being even more common than diabetes and asthma. Migraines can affect emotional, social, and physical wellbeing as well as professional life. The most common symptoms are severe headaches associated with nausea, vomiting, photophobia and sonophobia, difficulty concentrating, sensitivity and emotional disorders. Many studies have been published to establish the best migraine-management drugs, but not many of them refer to plant extracts, which have been given more attention by patients lately. Among these generically called herbal medicines, the effect of tussilago hybrida standardized extract has been studied since the early twenties. This stands as the fundamental component of Neurasites ® and the reason for research on materials and methods, results on treatment schemes for diminishing migraine attack features, as well as migraine prevention. Methods: There are two directions of research (herbal and placebo medicine) considered to be of interest due to the actual trend toward natural medicine and against chemicals and associated drugs. For quantitative research, the research tool used was that of the Neurasites ® Questionnaire Survey (NQS). Results: The obtained results prove the efficacy of treatment by reducing the duration of headache attacks, diminishing pain intensity and decreasing the frequency of migraine episodes. Conclusions: Further research development should focus on other dosages and treatment schemes and on other similar natural products to be used in migraine attack treatment.

Objective: There has been a rise in the prenatal detection of right sided aortic arch (RAA). When associated with a left-sided arterial duct (LD), this forms a vascular ring encircling the trachea. Infants may have symptoms or signs suggestive of tracheoesophageal compression but many are asymptomatic. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between symptoms and severity of tracheobronchial compression assessed by bronchoscopy., Methods: Retrospective review of all cases of prenatally diagnosed RAA-LD in the absence of associated congenital heart disease at Evelina London Children's Hospital and Kings College Hospital over a 4-year period between April 2015-2019. Clinical records, fetal echocardiograms, and free-breathing flexible bronchoscopy (FB) data were reviewed., Results: One hundred and twelve cases of isolated RAA-LD were identified of whom 82 cases (73%) underwent FB. FB was performed median age of 11 months (range 1-36 months), no complications occurred. Aberrant left subclavian artery (ALSA) was present in 86% (96/112) and mirror image branching (MIB) in 13% (15/112). 34/112 (30%) reported symptoms during follow-up. 36/77 (47%) with ALSA who underwent FB showed moderate-severe compression mostly at distal tracheal and carinal level of whom 38% had parent-reported symptoms. Moderate-severe compression was seen in 3/5 (60%) with MIB mostly at mid tracheal level; 3 were symptomatic but only 2 had tracheal compression. In total 36% (18/50) of investigated asymptomatic patients showed moderate-severe compression. Respiratory symptoms were poorly predictive of moderate-severe tracheal compression (positive predictive value 66%, negative predictive value 64%)., Conclusion: The absence of symptoms did not exclude significant tracheal compression. The anatomical effect of the vascular ring is under appreciated when symptoms alone are used as a marker of tracheal compression., (© 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)
