A new solid amine borane is reported here. The reaction of (R)‐(−)‐1‐cyclohexylethylamine (a liquid at room temperature) with borane dimethylsulfide yields crystals of pure (R)‐N‐1‐cyclohexylethylamine borane C6H11CH(CH3)NH2BH3 (CHEAB). The successful synthesis was confirmed by molecular analyses (FTIR, Raman and NMR). The crystals are in the form of millimeter‐sized translucent sticks, which allowed determining that CHEAB crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, the space group being P212121. All of the characterization results, together with DFT calculations, strongly suggest the occurrence of intermolecular dihydrogen bonds between antiparallel NH2BH3 groups that are in a trimeric configuration. Carbon-doped boron nitride (denoted by BN/C) was prepared through the pyrolysis at 1100 °C of a nanostructured mixture of an alkyl amine borane adduct and ammonia borane. The alkyl amine borane adduct acts as a soft template to obtain nanospheres. This bottom-up approach for the synthesis of nanostructured BN/C is relatively simple and compelling. It allows the structure obtained during the emulsion process to be kept. The final BN/C materials are microporous, with interconnected pores in the nanometer range (0.8 nm), a large specific surface area of up to 767 m2·g−1 and a pore volume of 0.32 cm3·g−1. The gas sorption studied with CO2 demonstrated an appealing uptake of 3.43 mmol·g−1 at 0 °C, a high CO2/N2 selectivity (21) and 99% recyclability after up to five adsorption–desorption cycles. Primary alkylamine borane adducts CxH2x+1NH2BH3 (CxAB) are unconventional molecules that may offer great opportunities in chemistry owing to their dihydrogen Hδ+⋅⋅⋅Hδ− bonds. Herein, we focus on six CxAB (x=4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14), synthesized by Lewis acid‐base reaction between the complex (CH3)2S⋅BH3 and the primary alkylamines. At ambient temperature, C4AB and C6AB are oily liquid, and the other adducts are crystalline solids. The melting temperatures of the CxAB linearly increase as a function of ln(x) due to stronger intermolecular Van der Waals forces between the alkyl chains, and they are higher by 20–40 °C than those of the amines due to dihydrogen Hδ+⋅⋅⋅Hδ− bonds between the NH2BH3 heads. The occurrence of dihydrogen Hδ+⋅⋅⋅Hδ− bonds is further confirmed by molecular and structural analyses. This is discussed hereafter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
