Objectives Vitamin D is one of the major hormones involved in the metabolism of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P). In the present study, we aimed to determine the analytical performance of the immunoassay method used for determining plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels in routine clinical practice in laboratories. Methods Venous blood samples were collected from 156 patients for the comparisons and were analyzed with Siemens ADVIA Centaur XPT, the Roche Cobas 6,000’s module e601, Abbott Architect i2000, and the liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Results The four methods were analyzed and compared through the Passing-Bablok regression for 25(OH)D, and the highest correlation was found at LC-MS/MS and Cobas 6,000’s module e601 (r=0.799), LC-MS/MS/Abbott Architect i2000, and LC-MS/MS/Siemens ADVIA Centaur XPT as r=0.736, 0.721, respectively. The correlation coefficient was found between Abbott Architect i2000 with Roche Cobas e601 and Siemens ADVIA Centaur XPT as r=0.934 and r=0.907, respectively. Also, the correlation coefficient was found between Roche Cobas e601 and Siemens ADVIA Centaur XPT as r=0.906. Conclusions The Roche Cobas assay showed better performance, compared with the other assays. Based on our findings, the chemiluminescence methods in automated systems seem to be expedient.

Objective: The measurements of electrolytes are an indispensable part of the routine tests performed in clinical biochemistry laboratories. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate Na, K, and Cl electrolytes with the ISE method in the Mindray BS-800M and Beckman Coulter AU5800 devices. Material and methods: The serum samples were obtained from the healthy volunteers admitted to the Karapınar State Hospital for control purposes between January and April 2021. The sample probe was conducted using the same indirect method in the Mindray BS-800M and Beckman Coulter AU5800 devices, which is an individual sample probe for the ISE method. Results: While the comparative measurements were performed on different devices, the correlations between the electrolytes were found as follows: Na [r=0.964, 95% CI (0.52-0.90)], K [r=0.995, 95% CI (0.09-0.12)], and Cl [r=0.972, 95% CI (0.69-1.12)]. Moreover, a correlation was also found between these results. Conclusion: A consistency between the measured Na, K, and Cl electrolytes was determined on the different analyzers. Also, a positive correlation was determined between those electrolytes. We consider that further and comprehensive studies are needed to elucidate these results., Amaç: Elektrolit ölçümleri, klinik biyokimya laboratuvarlarında yapılan rutin testlerin vazgeçilmez bir parçasıdır. Bu çalışmada Mindray BS-800M ve Beckman Coulter AU5800 cihazlarında Na, K ve Cl elektrolitlerini ISE yöntemi ile değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Gereç ve yöntem: Serum örnekleri, Ocak-Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında Karapınar Devlet Hastanesi’ne kontrol amaçlı başvuran sağlıklı gönüllülerden alınmıştır. Örnek probu, ISE yöntemi için ayrı bir numune probu olup Mindray BS-800M ve Beckman Coulter AU5800 cihazlarında indirekt yöntem kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular: Karşılaştırmalı ölçümler farklı cihazlarda yapılırken elektrolitler arasındaki korelasyonlar Na [r=0,964, % 95 CI (0,52-0,90)], K [r=0,995, % 95 CI (0,09-0.12)] ve Cl [r=0.972, % 95 CI (0.69-1.12)] olarak bulundu. Ayrıca bu sonuçlar arasında da bir korelasyon belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Farklı analizörlerde ölçülen Na, K ve Cl elektrolitleri arasında bir tutarlılık belirlendi. Ayrıca, bu elektrolitler arasında pozitif bir korelasyon bulunmaktadır. Bu sonuçların açıklığa kavuşturulması için daha fazla ve kapsamlı çalışmalara ihtiyaç olduğu görülmektedir.

Objectives Choosing the right device for blood collection is an issue that is frequently encountered in laboratory medicine. The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of the samples collected in terms of hemolysis index, pain intensity and tube filling rates of the samples drawn with BD Vacutainer® EclipseNeedle and BD Vacutainer Ultra-Touch™ Butterfly Blood Collection Set, which is currently used in laboratories. Methods Blood samples were drawn from the 44 apparently healthy adult individuals from different arm sites by routine phlebotomy into Citrate, SST and EDTA tubes in Karapınar State Hospital. K, P, AST, LDH tests and hemolysis index were analyzed by Mindray BS-800 chemistry analyzer. Complete blood count (CBC) was determined by Mindray BC 6000. Results There was no significant difference in K, P, AST, LDH and CBC values between the devices for hemolysis (p>0.05). No significant difference was found out with respect to visual hemolysis and hemolysis index, tube filling speed and pain intensity between the devices. Conclusions Our findings demonstrate that two sets may used for venipuncture blood collection without creating additional hemolysis risk.

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most severe complications which is associated with connective tissue disease (CTD) and causes to morbidity and mortality. So, we aimed to determine serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-13, and IL-17, to investigate whether these cytokines are related to CTD-ILD, and to find their possible contribution to determining the prognosis of the disease.A total of 150 participants, 80 patients diagnosed with CTD-ILD (mean age, 58.21 ± 12.36) and 70 healthy controls (mean age, 57.07 ± 9.60) were recruited from the rheumatology department between January 2016 and June 2019 in the study. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) findings were scored as similarly to previous studies. Serum IL-6, IL 13, and IL-17 levels were measured by ELISA test kits.The levels of IL-6, IL-13, and IL-17 in CTD patients were significantly higher than the healthy individuals (p 001), but the HRCT score's relation were not determined. IL-6 was associated with disease duration and disease activity scores of DAS28, ESDAII, and dSSc. There was a significant relation between dSSc, HCRT fibrosis, and total score.CRP, hemoglobin, and platelets were associated with the HRCT inflammation pattern.At the study, it has been observed that serum IL-13, IL-6 and IL-17 levels are increased in patients with CTD-ILD. Besides, IL-6 was associated with disease activity scores of DAS28, ESDAII, and dSSc. Also, HRCT fibrosis score is associated with dSSc. Further and comprehensive studies are needed to understand better the complex intersection of lung disease with systemic autoimmunity. Key Points • Serum IL-13, IL-6, and IL-17 levels are increased in patients with CTD-ILD. • IL-6 was associated with disease activity scores of DAS28, ESDAII, and diffuse skin involvement. • HRCT fibrosis score is associated with diffuse skin involvement in patients with SSc-ILD. • HRCT inflammation score is associated with PAH.

Objectives Infertility is defined as the absence of pregnancy within the reproductive period despite regular sexual intercourse. Methylarginines are formed as a result of methylation of arginine residues in proteins and formed in three forms as asymmetric dimethyl arginine (ADMA), symmetrical dimethyl arginine (SDMA) and monomethylarginine (L-NMMA). So, here, we aimed to evaluate arginine and their derivatives levels in fertile and infertile individuals. Methods Present study were consist of 30 oligozoospermia patients (proven by spermiogram analysis) and 30 healthy individuals with normozoospermia group who were applied to the urology department. With blood samples taken from individuals, serum methylarginine and its derivatives levels were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Clinic data and demographic characteristics of individuals were also recorded at the same time. Results The serum ADMA level (0.38 ± 0.07) of the oligozoospermia group was found to be significantly higher than the normozoospermia group (0.35 ± 0.05) (p=0.046). A positive correlation were observed between ADMA and SDMA (r=0.686, p=0.000), HArg and SDMA (r=0.611, p=0.001), citrulline and L-NMMA (r=0.595, p=0.001) in patients with oligosospermia. The increase in SDMA, arginine and HArg levels and a decrease in L-NMMA and citrulline levels were not significant as statistically. Also, the ADMA level was found to be high in individuals with low sperm concentration. Conclusions Consequently, serum ADMA levels of individuals with oligozoospermia were statistically significantly higher than those with normozoospermia. As proposal, determination of ADMA levels may be a potential biomarker parameter in terms of early diagnosis of fertility and infertility.

Objective Adropin is expressed in vascular endothelial cells and regulates nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability by upregulating nitric oxide. In recent years, some studies have revealed its relationship with the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Our aim in this study is to determine serum adropin levels in MS patients and to investigate adropin levels's relationship with hypothalamic atrophy. Methods A total of 80 people, 40 of whom had MS and 40 of whom were healthy volunteers, were included in the study. Serum samples were taken from all participants. Hypothalamus and pituitary diameters were calculated from magnetic resonance imaging of MS patients. The relationship between serum adropin levels and demographic characteristics, Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), and hypothalamic atrophy were evaluated. Results The levels of adropin were 0.85±0.14 ng/mL in patients with MS and 2.96 ng/mL±0.285 ng/mL in the healthy controls. MS patients had significantly lower levels of adropin than the healthy controls (p = 0.003). Adropin has the highest diagnostic value (AUC=0.874, (95% CI, 0,800-0,947) as cut-off value (838.00), sensitivity (80.43%) and specificity (70.64%) in the MS group. In the study, serum adropin levels were not significantly correlated with 3 ventricle diameter (3VD) and pituitary diameter (PD) size (p = 0,968) and no significant relationships were determined between adropin and other clinical parameters. Conclusion As a potential diagnostic marker, adropin levels were significantly lower in MS patients than in those without. Comprehensive studies are needed to verify this entity.

Introduction: The etiology and pathogenesis of sarcoidosis, a systemic granulomatous lung disease affecting many people, still remain unknown. Sarcoidosis is diagnosed by demonstrating non-caseous granulomas and ruling out granulomatous diseases. Therefore, sensitive biomarkers used in diagnosis and follow-up processes are needed. Our aim is to investigate diagnostic value of plasma protachykinin-1 (TAC1) levels in sarcoidosis patients.Methods: Forty-two sarcoidosis patients followed-up by the department of chest diseases, and 38 controls were included into the study. Clinical, radiological and laboratory data of patients were recorded, and plasma TAC1 levels were analyzed in patients and healthy controls. Results: Plasma TAC1 levels of sarcoidosis patients and controls were found as 1124.25±1117.25 ng/L and 1319.37±1357.38 ng/L, respectively. Although not statistically significant (p=0.338), a decrease was found in TAC1 levels of sarcoidosis patients. Additionally, patients’ lymphocyte levels were also found significantly lower than controls (p=0.007). No statistically significant correlation was found between other laboratory findings, including leukocyte, neutrophil, monocyte, eosinophil count, cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) CD4 +, CD8 +, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) CD4 +, BAL CD8 + and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and plasma TAC1 levels.Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first to investigate plasma TAC1 levels as a biomarker in sarcoidosis patients. Although plasma TAC1 levels were slightly decreased in sarcoidosis patients, the decrease was not statistically significant, and no adequate data were provided for the use of plasma TAC1 level as a biomarker. We consider more comprehensive research are needed to elucidate the entity.

Background: Migraine is a multifactorial neurovascular syndrome and closely associated to inflammation. Cystatin C (Cys C) is a neuroendocrine polypeptide which also plays a role in inflammation. Objective: To investigate the levels of Cys C in migraine patients without aura. Methods: A total of 80 participants were included in the study; 40 patients and 40 healthy controls. Serum Cys C levels were investigated by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Statistical analysis were performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0 (SPSS Inc, IL, USA). Results: Serum Cys C levels were found as 73.88 ng/mL in the patient group and 24.92 ng/mL in the healthy control group, being significantly higher among patients (p=0.000). Serum Cys C levels were significacntly different across age subgroups among patients (p=0.049), but not among controls. However, visual analog scale (VAS) (p=0.707), disease duration time (p=0.725) and body mass index (p=0.136) were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate that high serum Cys C levels are independently associated to migraine without aura. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to determine the serum levels of Cys C in patients with migraine. Thus, serum Cys C may be a potential biomarker of migraine. A cistatina C (Cys C) é um polipeptídeo neuroendócrino que também desempenha papel importante na inflamação. Objetivo: Investigar os níveis de Cys C em pacientes com enxaqueca sem aura. Métodos: Foram incluídos no estudo 80 participantes; 40 pacientes e 40 controles saudáveis. Os níveis séricos de Cys C foram investigados usando o ensaio de imunoabsorção ligado à enzima (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay - ELISA). A análise estatística foi realizada utilizando o Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), versão 22.0 (SPSS Inc, IL, EUA). Resultados: Em nosso estudo, os níveis séricos de Cys C foram encontrados em 73,88 ng/mL no grupo de pacientes e 24,92 no grupo de controle saudável, sendo os níveis significativamente maiores nos pacientes (p=0,000). Os níveis séricos de Cys C foram significativamente diferentes entre faixas etárias no grupo de pacientes (p=0,049). No entanto, a escala visual analógica (EVA) (p=0,707), o tempo de duração da doença (p=0,725) e o índice de massa corporal (p=0,136) não foram significativamente diferentes entre os dois grupos. Conclusão: Nossos achados demonstram que altos níveis séricos de Cys C estão independentemente associados à enxaqueca sem aura. Até onde sabemos, este é o primeiro estudo a determinar os níveis séricos de Cys C em pacientes com enxaqueca e os resultados sugerem que o Cys C sérico pode ser um potencial biomarcador nessa condição clínica.

Vitiligo is a common dermatological disease of unknown cause and progressing with depigmentation and affects approximately 1% of the world population. In the study, we aimed to compare plateletcrit (PCT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet (PLT), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) values in vitiligo patients.We retrospectively evaluated the medical data of 100 patients who were admitted to the dermatology outpatient clinic between January 2020 and December 2021 with a diagnosis of vitiligo. The control group was retrospectively constituted from medical records of 90 healthy individuals. PCT, MPV, PLT, and TSH levels of both groups were compared statistically.A total of 190 participants (100 vitiligo patients and 90 healthy volunteers) were included in the study. The mean age of the patient group was 38.62 ± 1.62, while the mean age of the control group was 41.52 ± 1.54. There were no differences between the two groups in terms of age and gender. It was found that the mean MPV value in the patient group was lower than the control group (p = 0.00). PLT and PCT values were significantly higher in the patient group than the control group (p = 0.00, p = 0.01, respectively). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of TSH (p 0.05). A negative correlation between MPV and PLT values in the patient group (r = -0.218, p = 0.029), and a negative correlation between MPV and TSH (r = -0.218, p = 0.029), (-0.230, p = 0.021).In the study, a comparison of the PCT, MPV, and PLT levels showed a difference between both groups, but no differences in TSH levels. To clarify these results, comprehensive studies with more samples are needed.

Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial disease of the pilosebaceous unit. As the most common skin disease, it may affect approximately 85% of the young population. Survivin, a member of the inhibitors of the apoptosis (IAP) gene family, can inhibit apoptosis and regulate cell division and proliferation. In the study, we aimed to investigate the potential role of serum survivin in acne vulgaris.Forty individuals who were diagnosed with acne vulgaris and forty healthy subjects as the control group were enrolled in the study. Venous blood samples were collected from each participant, and the serum levels of survivin were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software version 25.The serum survivin levels were statistically significant between the groups, and the levels of survivin were measured as acne vulgaris patients group 153.44 and control group 104.17 pg/ml, respectively (p 0.018). When the serum survivin levels were compared according to gender, females had higher levels of survivin than the males (168.16 versus 50.45 pg/mL, p = 0.001). A significant correlation was found between acne severity (p = 0.017) and Scale for Acne Scar severity (SCAR-S) score (p = 0.001) according to the survivin levels. In terms of age, no significant relationship was found between age and survivin (p = 0.4048).Elevated serum levels of survivin were determined in acne vulgaris. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between acne stage and SCAR-S score according to survivin levels.

Telogen effluvium is one of the chronic diseases that affect the quality of life (QoL) in women. Genetic factors, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal and environmental conditions take roles in the etiology of hair loss.The study aimed to evaluate the RDW(Red cell distribution witdh)/MCV(Mean corpuscular volume) ratio and its correlation with ferritin in Telogen Effluvium patients and to reveal their potential role in the etiopathogenesis of Telogen effluvium.We retrospectively evaluated the medical data of 250 patients who were admitted to the dermatology outpatient clinic between September 2020 and December 2020 with a diagnosis of telogen effluvium. The control group was created retrospectively from the medical records of 250 healthy individuals. HB(Hemoglobin), HCT(Hematocrit), MPV(mean platelet volume), MCV, RDW, ferritin, and MCV/RDW ratio of both groups were compared and evaluated statistically.All telogen effluvium patients were women in terms of gender. The mean age of the patient group was 33.11 ± 9.66 years and the mean age of the control group was 34.98 ± 12.37 years. The ratio of MCV/RDW, MPV, MCV, and ferritin is lower in the group with telogen effluvium compared to the control group and a statistically significant difference was found (P0.05).Iron deficiency anemia is thought of as a factor in female patients with telogen effluvium. Although the data shows the correction of iron deficiency is insufficient telogen effluvium, we proposed that laboratory tests should be routinely used in the diagnosis and treatment phase of patients who apply with the complaint of hair loss.

Objective: The epidemic which caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus were defined as COVID-19) and declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March, 2020. Nowadays, many biochemical parameters related to the diagnosis and prognosis of COVID-19 are being investigated. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate D-dimer and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratios (NLR) of COVID-19 patients whom applied to Karapınar State Hospital. Methods: Patients which consisted of 2523, whom diagnosed with COVID-19 between 11 March 2019 and 29 July 2021 at Karapınar State Hospital were included in the study. Age, gender and social history of the patients were recorded. From the results, the relationships between D-dimer and hemogram were evaluated. Results: There was a high correlation between the variables HCT and HGB, PLT and PCT, NEUT# and WBC, and MCH and MCV (r=0.981, r=0.944, r=0.923, r=0.925). In addition, there was a high correlation between RBC and HCT and between RBC and HGB variables (r=0.852, r=0.795). There was a moderate correlation between WBC and MO#, MCHC and MCH, PDW and MPV (r=0.562, r=0.639, r=0.64). All the relationships between these variables were positive, and the value of the correlated parameter increases linearly by unit. Also, the highest positive relationships were between HCT and HGB, PLT and PCT, NEUT# and WBC, MCH and MCV. Moreover, D-dimer and NLR were not correlated (r= – 0.015, p=0.49). Conclusion: In the study, no correlation was observed between D-dimer and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratios of COVID-19 patients. So, more comprehensive and further studies are needed to clarify these results.

Objective: As a systemic inflammatory skin disease, psoriasis vulgaris (PS) is associated with cellular immune mechanisms. We aimed to evaluate oxidative stress markers and ischemia modified albumin levels in patients with PS and controls.Materials and Methods: The participants (over age of 18) who applied to the dermatology outpatient clinic between September 2020 - May 2021 and diagnosed with PS (n=50) were enrolled into the study. Oxidative stress markers such as nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), 8-hydroxy 2-deoxy guanosine (8-OHdG), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) parameters and ischemia modified albumin (IMA) levels in patients with PS and controls were evaluated.Results: A total of 100 volunteers, 50 with PS and 50 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. In the measurements of oxidative stress markers, GPX, 8-OHdG, MDA, IMA, IMA/Albumin and NO parameters were found to be statistically as significant between the patient and control groups. Also, SOD, 8-OHdG, IMA and NO were found to be statistically as significant between two psoriasis severity index (PASI) groups.Conclusion: Elevated levels of 8-OHdG, MDA, IMA, IMA/Albumin, NO and decreased levels of GPx were observed in patients with PS. To clarify this topic, further and comprehensive studies are needed., Amaç: Sistemik inflamatuar bir deri hastalığı olan psoriazis vulgaris (PS), hücresel immün mekanizmalarıyla ilişkilidir. Çalışmamızın amacı PS' li hastalarda ve kontrollerde oksidatif stres belirteçleri ve iskemi modifiye albümin düzeylerini değerlendirmektir.Materyal ve Metot: Eylül 2020 - Mayıs 2021 tarihleri ​​arasında dermatoloji polikliniğine başvuran ve PS tanısı konan (18 yaş üstü) katılımcılar (n=50) çalışmaya alındı. PS hastalarında nitrik oksit (NO), malondialdehit (MDA), 8-hidroksi 2-deoksi guanozin (8-OHdG), süperoksit dismutaz (SOD), glutatyon peroksidaz (GPx) parametreleri ve iskemi modifiye albümin (IMA) seviyeleri gibi oksidatif stres belirteçleri ve kontroller belirlenerek aralarındaki ilişkiler değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Çalışmaya 50 PS' li ve 50 sağlıklı kontrol olmak üzere toplam 100 gönüllü alındı. Oksidatif stres belirteçlerinin ölçümlerinde GPX, 8-OHdG, MDA, IMA, IMA/Albumin ve NO parametreleri hasta ve kontrol grupları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu. Ayrıca iki psoriazis alanı ve şiddet indeksi (PASI) grubu arasında SOD, 8-OHdG, IMA ve NO istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu.Sonuç: PS' li hastalarda 8-OHdG, MDA, IMA, IMA/Albumin, NO düzeylerinde yükselme ve GPx düzeylerinde azalma gözlendi. Bu konuyu netleştirmek için daha fazla ve kapsamlı çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.

Objective Behcet's Disease (BD) is a polygenic and chronic autoinflammatory multisystemic vasculitis disease characterized by mucocutaneous, musculoskeletal, neurological, gastrointestinal, and ophthalmologic lesions. There has been no specific test or serum marker to measure and determine the diagnosis and severity of BD. Purpose The study aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of hematological parameters as MLR (monocyte to lymphocyte ratio), NLR (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio), PLR (platelet to lymphocyte ratio), MPV (mean platelet volume), MPVPR (mean platelet volume to platelet ratio), LMR (lymphocyte to monocyte ratio), LPM (lymphocyte and platelet multiplication), WLP (lymphocyte and leukocyte multiplication), RDW (red blood cell distribution width) and PCT (plateletcrit) in BD and compare these with disease activity and clinical findings METHODS: A total of 266 participants (49 healthy control and 217 BD patients) were recruited from the rheumatology department in a single-center as a case-control study. The laboratory data were obtained from the electronic registration database. BD Activity scores (BDCAF/Behcet's Disease Current Activity Form) were calculated. Laboratory findings of BD patients and healthy controls were compared and evaluated. Results RDW, Platelet, PCT, NLR and PLR values were significantly higher in patient group than in the healthy controls. However, hemoglobin, MPVPR and LMR were significantly lower in the patient group which compared to the healthy controls. LPM in BD with genital ulcers, WLP in BD with genital ulcers and arthritis, MPR in BD with uveitis, RDW in BD with thrombosis, and neuro-Behcet's disease (NBD), PLR in NBD were observed to be higher. However, LMR in NBD and MPV in BD with thrombosis were lower than those without. There was a positive correlation between BDCAF score and RDW, and NLR. Conclusion Hemoglobin, RDW, Platelet, PCT, NLR, LMR, PLR and MPVPR were statistically significant predictors for BD. RDW, PCT, and NLR are the most valuable predictors for BD.

Objectives As a systemic inflammatory disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common inflammatory arthritis in the population and there is no specific diagnostic marker in laboratory tests. The purpose of the study was to determine whether serum neopterin and pentraxin 3 (PTX3) levels may be a marker of increased inflammation in RA patients. Materials and methods The study were consist of 30 RA patients and 30 healthy controls who were admitted to the department of rheumatology. Blood specimens were taken from both group, and the levels of neopterin were analyzed by chromatography method (HPLC) and the PTX 3 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). All data and demographic characteristics of participants were also recorded. Results Serum neopterin and PTX 3 levels of the patient group (25.99 ± 7.24 ng/mL and 4.19 ± 1.01 ng/dL, respectively) was higher than the control group (9.55 ± 0.74 ng/mL and 2.23 ± 0.39 ng/dL, respectively). These results were remarkable significant (p Conclusions Consequently, the serum neopterin and PTX 3 levels were higher in RA patients as compared to the healthy individuals. Our study suggest that there is a relation between neopterin and PTX 3 levels with RA patients. These findings suggest that neopterin and PTX 3 are important markers in the monitoring of RA disease.

Currently, there are no effective serum biomarkers to verify MS diagnosis, to assess disease prognosis, and evaluate response to MS treatment. Objective: The present study is a preliminary assessment of irisin and nesfatin-1 serum levels in patients with relapsing- remitting MS (RRMS). Buçalışma; farklı seviyelerde yararlanılabilir fosfor (YP) içeren karma yemlereesansiyel yağ karışımı (EYK) ilavesinin, Japon bıldırcınlarının (Coturnix coturnix japonica) besiperformansı değerleri ve bazı organ ağırlıkları üzerine etkisini belirlemekamacıyla yürütülmüştür. Denemenin hayvan materyalini günlük yaşta ve karışıkcinsiyette 480 adet Japon bıldırcın (Coturnixcoturnix japonica) civcivi oluşturmuştur. Civcivler her biri 4 tekerrürdenoluşan 4 muamele grubuna rastgele dağıtılmıştır. Muameleler; %0.30yararlanılabilir fosfor içerikli pozitif kontrol (K+), %0.18 yararlanılabilirfosfor içerikli negatif kontrol (K-), pozitif kontrole EYK ilaveli (K+EYK) venegatif kontrole EYK ilaveli (K-EYK) gruplardan oluşmaktadır. Pozitif kontrolgrubuna EYK ilavesinin canlı ağırlık artışı (CAA) ve yemden yararlanma oranı(YYO) üzerinde istatistiki olarak önemli bir etkisi olmazken (P>0.05), yem tüketimini(YT) istatistiki olarak önemli seviyede azalttığı gözlemlenmiştir (P0.05). Çalışmadan eldeedilen sonuçlar düşük yararlanılabilir fosfor içeren bıldırcın karma yemlerindeEYK’nın performans artırıcı katkı maddesi olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir.

Günümüzde fetal gonad gelişiminin intrauterin dönem boyunca birçok faktör tarafından etkilendiği bilinmektedir. Erkek embriyolarda, cinsiyet farklılaşması üç hormon tarafından sağlanmaktadır. Teknolojik gelişmeyle beraber AMH gen/reseptör mutasyonlarının tanımlanması ve AMH reseptörlerinin vücudun farklı bölgelerinde belirlenmesi gibi nedenlerden dolayı kliniksel değerlendirmelerde öneminin daha da artacağı söylenebilir., Today, it is well known that development of fetal gonads in intrauterine period can be affected by many factors. Male fetus sexual differentiation were provided from three hormone; anti-mülleriane hormone (AMH), testosterone and insülin-like 3. Less or any production of AMH can cause to infertility or urological dysfunctions. Nowadays AMH has been used a marker in the early diagnosis of some diseases such as pediatric and urological defect. The importance of clinical evaluation of AMH will be increase as a result of ongoing technologic improvement such as identification of AMH gene/receptor mutation and determination of AMH receptors in different parts of the body.

Çalışma; Konya'daki Üniversite Hastaneleri’nde dozimetre taşıyan sağlık çalışanlarının iş yükünün iyonize radyasyon risk algılarına etkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. İyonlaştırıcı radyasyon alanında görev yapan sağlık çalışanları iş yükünün fazla olması nedeniyle daha fazla radyasyona maruz kalmaktadırlar. Araştırma sağlık çalışanlarının iş yüklerindeki artışın, iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon risk algılarını nasıl etkilediğini göstermesi açısından önem arz etmektedir. Araştırma, Konya ilinde hizmet veren Selçuk Üniversitesi Selçuk Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi ve Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi'nde dozimetre taşıyan sağlık çalışanları üzerinde yapılmıştır. Araştırma evreninden bir örneklem seçilmemiş ancak evrenin %90,95'ine ulaşılmıştır. Veriler, Sakaoğlu Manavgat (2011) tarafından hazırlanmış olan "Mesleksel İyonlaştırıcı Radyasyon Risk Algısı Anketi" ve Caplan ve arkadaşları (1980) tarafından geliştirilmiş 11 maddelik iş yükü ölçeği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Veriler SPSS 20.0 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada, korelasyon analizi, bağımsız örneklem t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi uygulanmıştır. Katılımcıların iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon risk algısı ortalaması 7,51 2,09 olarak bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların genel olarak yaşam olayları ile ilgili kaygı düzeyleri ortalaması 5,59 2,34 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Katılımcıların iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon alanlarında görev yapmalarından dolayı ilerleyen dönemlerde olası bir sağlık sorunu geçirmeleriyle ilgili kaygı düzeyi ortalaması ise 6,98 2,19 olarak bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların iş yükü ortalaması da 3,54 0,59 olarak belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların yüksek risk algısına ve fazla iş yüküne sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. İş yükündeki artışın pozitif yönde ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon risk algısını etkilediği saptanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; hekimlerin iş yükü ortalaması diğer meslek gruplarına göre anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunurken, iyonlaştırıcı radyasyon risk algısı diğer meslek gruplarından düşük çıkması dikkat çekmektedir., The study aims to detect the effect of workload on risk perception of ionizing radiation in healthcare workers who carry the dosimeter in university hospitals in Konya. Excessive work load experienced by health workers in hospital settings including ionizing radiation leads the workers exposed to more radiation. Our study is significant in order to indicate how the increase experienced by health workers affects the risk perception of ionizing radiation. To measure their dosimeter, the study was performed with health workers who working in two university hospitals in Selcuk Medical School of Selcuk University and Meram Medical School of Necmettin Erbakan University. No specific sampling was formed for the study, but 90.95% of all professionals were reached as samples. Data were obtained via “The Questionnaire for Occupational Ionizing Radiation Risk Perception” prepared by Sakaoglu, Manavgat (2011) and an 11-item work load scale developed by Caplan et al. (1980). Data were analyzed with SPSS 20.0 software package. In the study, correlation analysis, independent sampling t test, one-way variance analysis were used. Mean risk perception of participants regarding ionizing radiation was found as 7.512.09. Mean anxiety levels about life events were found as 5.592.34. However, participants’ mean anxiety levels for experiencing a future health challenge were found as 6.982.19. Mean work load of participants was also found as 3.540.59. Participants were detected to have high risk perception and excessive work load. The increase seen in work load was found to affect participants’ ionizing radiation risk perception positively and significantly. However, while mean work load of physicians was significantly higher than that of other professions, the fact that ionizing radiation risk perception of physicians was found lower draws attention.

Gittikçe artan manyetik alan maruziyetlerinin insan sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerini belirleyebilmek için ileri çalışmalara gereksinim vardır., Its proposed that electromagnetic fields can easily enter the body and can change some vitual conditions. Today magnetic field and electromagnetic wave properties which affect health and their threshold values proportional to the dose parameters are determined.But the virtual effect of magnetic field against health is not clearly known as the net exposure amount has not yet been determined and studies done on humans are scarce. Further studies are needed to find out the effect of magnetic field exposure against human health.
