Purpose: To evaluate tumour response, acute and late toxicity in nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) patients treated with intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with cisplatin chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: 33 NPC patients, received IMRT concurrently with four to six cycles of cisplatin (30 mg/m2/day) every six weeks between May 2016 and July 2018, were evaluated prospectively. The doses to the planning target volumes of primary tumor and involved lymph nodes, uninvolved regional nodal areas were 70 Gy and 50 Gy respectively. All patients were evaluated for tumour and node response using response evaluation criteria in solid tumour (RECIST) criteri, acute and late toxicities according to CTCAE version 3.0 (common terminology criteria for adverse events), RTOG/EORTC (Toxicity criteria of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group/the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer). Results: At three months after chemoradiation, 81.8% and 18.2% of patients achieved complete and partial response, respectively. Grade 3 acute toxicities were oral mucositis (6.1%), dermatitis (3%). Grade 3 late toxicities were xerostomia 2/33(6.1%). There was no grade 3 to grade 4 neck fibrosis and trismus, none of the patients developed mandibular bone necrosis. Conclusion:Cisplatin concurrently with IMRT provided excellent tumour response, manageable toxicities and good compliance. Purpose: Survey the rate and distribution of retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis, the suitability between Magnetic Resonance and computed tomography in the evaluation of nasopharyngeal tumor and the ability to detect retropharyngeal lymph node. Methods and Materials: Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 35 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma diagnosed and treated at Hue Central Hospital from April 2018 to July 2019. The patient underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography. Data processed with SPSS 20.0 for Windows. Investigate the level of correlation between the two techniques based on the Kappa coefficient. Results: 14 patients had retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis with a total of 25 lymph nodes, all of which in the lateral position, none in the middle. 76% the lymph nodes are at the level of C1 vertebra. 48% of lymph nodes have heterogeneous enhancement. There is a close match between Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography in assessing the invasion at anatomical positions: Rosenmuller fossa, Eustachian tubes, nasal cavity, pharynx, and paranasal sinuses; There is a moderate match between the two methods in assessing the invasion of the cranial base and the sphenomaxillary suture. In 14/35 cases where the retropharyngeal lymph node was detected on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (accounting for 40%), Computed Tomography identified only 6 cases (17.1%). Conclusions: There are differences on many levels between Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography in the diagnosis of tumor invasion and retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In particular, Magnetic Resonance Imaging is better in detecting retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis due to high structural contrast, these lymph nodes are often difficult to detect on Computed Tomography because it is difficult to distinguish from posterior pharyngeal structures or tumors.

Purpose: Compare Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging to accurately determine the volume of brain tumors for radiotherapy. Methods and Materials: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 38 patients with brain tumors indicated for radiation therapy, underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging and CT scans at Hue Central Hospital from January 2018 to July 2019. Data processed with MS Excel 2013, SPSS 20.0 and statistical algorithms. Results: The Magnetic Resonance Imaging has a rate of brain tumor detection of 100% while that of computed tomography only reached 60.5%. The average difference in tumor size is 0.66 cm, the size of the tumor is larger on the magnetic resonance images.
