Introduction: The association between Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus can accelerate the deterioration of immunological functions. The risks are even more accentuated in the situation of a Non-tuberculous Mycobacterium and Mycobacterium tuberculosis co-infection.

Introduction: Lately, nanotechnology focuses on the green synthesis of AgNPs, using different plant materials, as this method is accessible, cost-efficient, and ecological. The study aimed to investigate the antibacterial potential of AgNPs synthesized using beech/spruce bark extracts (BBE/SBE) and silver salts (acetate/nitrate).

The study objective is to evaluate the use of balloon ureteral probes with the purpose of blocking the migration of calculi fragments during ureteral lithotrity. We have evaluated the data of 110 patients who had retrograde ureteroscopy rigid ureteroscope and ultrasonic lithotrity for ureteral calculi during 2006 -2010. In 46 patients lithotrity was applied without using balloon probes - group 1, and group 2 with the use of the probe. The calculi size, time of intervention, success rate and intraoperation complications were compared retrospectively for the two groups. The patient's average age was 34.4 in group 1, and 31.8 in group 2. The average calculi size was of 6.9, respectively 7.4 mm. The average operation time was 65.3 minutes for group 1 and 52.5 minutes for group 2. The success rate was 87.3%, 78,9 for group 1, and 96.8 for group 2, significantly higher for group 2. In both groups there were two minor ureter perforations, solved during the same session. The balloon ureteral probe is a tool useful not only for the widening of the ureteral lumen but also for preventing the ascending migration of calculi fragments resulted during ureteral calculi lithotrity, insuring the stone-free state. The study objective is to evaluate the benefits of inserting the ureteral stent, for one week, in patients whose ureteral calculi were endoscopically fragmented without intra-operatory complications. Material and method. The study comprised 140 patients who had ureteroscopies with the ultrasonic fragmentation of ureteral regional anaesthesia, the calculi size being between 5-10 mm. 109 patients, who had intra-operatory incidents, were split into two groups: A - 54 patients - to whom a stent was inserted intra-operatory, and B - 55 patients - without stent insertion. The following parameters were observed: the presence of lumbar pain, suprapubic pain, renal cramps, irritative urinary syndrome, urinary infection and the need for analgesic administration comparatively for the two groups. Results. The presence of the post-operatory ureteral stent diminishes the lumbar, suprapubic and colicative pains, reducing the need to administer analgesics, but it increases the risc of urinary infection and of the irritative urinary syndrome. Conclusions. The ureteral stent inserted at the end of the endoscopic interventions of ureteral calculi fragmentation has a role in the favourable evolution of patients by increasing the post-operation comfort, but it is also inconvenient to extract it after a week. Background: Flat warts or verrucae planae are a common cutaneous infection caused by HPV types 3 and 41. They are likely found on the sites of skin trauma. The making process of ornamental tattoos presumes in a traumatic and invasive opening of the skin. A number of tattoo-related cutaneous side effects have been reported, such as infections, allergic reactions and other dermatological lesions. Objective: Our aim was to dermatologically diagnose a wart-like, grouped lesion within a cover up tattoo. Material and methods: We present the case of a 32 year old woman, from urban provenience and low socio-economic status, who presented in the tattoo studio seeking a cover up of a 15 year old tattoo on her left leg, executed by a non-professional tattooer. Examination showed multiple and grouped wart-like lesions within the tattoo's surface, with well observed differences, comparative to the surrounding tissues. The covering up took place. After a one year period, the current tattooer observed the multiplication of the lesions, with the tendency of the warts of not holding the ink. The patient was referred to dermatology specialists. Results: Dermoscopic examination of the warts showed mosaic pattern and knoblike aspect of the raised lesions, which confirmed the diagnosis of verrucae planae. Destructive treatment, using liquid nitrogen cryotherapy was indicated. Conclusions: Getting tattooed in non-controlled tattooing facilities, by non-professional tattooers can lead to numerous complications. Verrucae planae can develop in tattoos, while contacting cutaneous types of HPV, due to poor sanitary protocol manifested by tattooers, poor aftercare and exposing one's self to aggravating factors. Suspicious tattoo-related cutaneous lesions should be monitored and remedied by dermatologists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
