This study investigates the impact of migration on the well-being of children under 5 in Vietnam. For the purpose of this study migration is measured by the proportion of residents who moved from one province to another five years ago, while children’s well-being is proxied by nutritional status, height and weight for age, education, and childcare. Our estimation results show that migration increases the probability of child access to food, improves their nutritional status, and enhances childcare. Interestingly, the effects of migration on the nutritional status of children under 5 tend to be greater for children who has already had a better nutritional status. We find that income is a channel through which migration affects the well-being of children. Our findings suggest that promoting migration can be an effective tool for improving the well-being of children in Vietnam.

The training of physical education and training students is an important part of the education of physical education students in my country. The talents trained are an important supporting force to improve the quality of physical education and sports training and to promote the scientific and effective development of national fitness. The quality level of physical education and training students has a decisive influence on improving the physical quality of the people, promoting the progress of sports science and developing the sports cause. Therefore, on the basis of analyzing the concept of quality, quality structure, and quality evaluation, this paper uses the fuzzy judgment method to judge the physical quality of college students and focuses on the difference between the physical quality after the two-year physical education class and when entering the school in order to improve the physical education class.

Metallic nanoparticles are widely explored for boosting light-matter coupling, optoelectronic response, and improving photocatalytic performance of two-dimensional (2D) materials. However, the target area is restricted to either top or bottom of the 2D flakes. Here, we introduce an approach for edge-specific nanoparticle decoration via light-assisted reduction of silver ions and merging of silver seeds. We observe arrays of the self-limited in size silver nanoparticles along tungsten diselenide WSe2 nanoribbon edges. The density of nanoparticles is tunable by adjusting the laser fluence. Scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy are used to investigate the size, distribution, and photo-response of the deposited plasmonic nanoparticles on the quasi-one-dimensional nanoribbons. We report an on-surface synthesis path for creating mixed-dimensional heterostructures and heterojunctions with potential applications in opto-electronics, plasmonics, and catalysis, offering improved light matter coupling, optoelectronics response, and photocatalytic performance of 2D materials.

Abstract Mixed-dimensional van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures offer promising platforms for exploring interesting phenomena and functionalities. To exploit their full potential, precise epitaxial processes and well-defined heterointerfaces between different components are essential. Here, we control the growth of one-dimensional (1D) vdW microwires on hexagonal crystals via plasma treatment of the growth templates. AgCN serves as a model 1D system for examining the dependence of the nucleation and growth parameters on the surface treatment conditions and substrate types. The oxygen-plasma-treated transition metal dichalcogenides form step edges mediated by formation of surface metal oxides, leading to robust AgCN epitaxy with an enhanced nucleation density and low horizontal growth rates. Monte Carlo simulations reproduce the experimentally observed growth behaviors and unveil the crucial growth parameters, such as surface diffusivity. The plasma treatment results in distinct effects on graphite and hexagonal boron nitride templates, which undergo plasma-induced amorphization and deactivation of the AgCN vdW epitaxy. We achieve the selective growth of AgCN microwires on graphite using the deactivated vdW epitaxy. This study offers significant insights into the impact of surface treatment on 1D vdW epitaxy, opening avenues for controlled fabrication of mixed-dimensional vdW heterostructures.

Observation of nanosilicon-based contributions to the interstellar nanodust is problematic because the indirect-bandgap of silicon makes its optical features wide, while carbon’s higher abundancy and ionization potential and the rising slope of extinction curves introduce heavy convolution. Recent macroscopic synthesis and charging of nanosilicon, the coming online of the Webb space telescope with unprecedented spectral resolution, and advances in modeling algorithms, light scattering, and fundamental atomistic computation may open opportunities for effective comparison between laboratory and space observation. Here, we study the transport of charged nanosilicon in electric/magnetic fields. We use high voltage across liquid colloids to charge and propel nanosilicon into external fields and imprint them on metal-coated substrates. We use absorption, luminescence, and light scattering in liquid, flight, and imprinted surfaces to study the field deflection of nanosilicon. We use the Mie/finite-difference time-domain theory to obtain scattering curves of nanosilicon and silica. Nanosilicon-based UV features near the 217.5-nm carbon bump are recorded and calculated using Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TDDFT) atomistic theory at 225, 280, and 153 nm resulting from bound–bound, and valence-continuum transitions, respectively. We also show that the constituents of silicates, oxygen and Mg and Fe metal ions, can attach to Si nanoparticles without interrupting luminescence, infrared, or UV signatures, respectively. Because charge defects allow nanosilicon transport over large distances via open B fields of solar holes as well as provide them with narrow “atomic-like” transitions, which are otherwise extended, sightlines with lower carbon and higher resolution afforded by Webb may allow the unmasking of Si-based features.

Abstract Background Disturbances in brain cholesterol homeostasis may be involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Lipid-lowering medications could interfere with neurodegenerative processes in AD through cholesterol metabolism or other mechanisms. Objective To explore the association between the use of lipid-lowering medications and cognitive decline over time in a cohort of patients with AD or mixed dementia with indication for lipid-lowering treatment. Methods A longitudinal cohort study using the Swedish Registry for Cognitive/Dementia Disorders, linked with other Swedish national registries. Cognitive trajectories evaluated with mini-mental state examination (MMSE) were compared between statin users and non-users, individual statin users, groups of statins and non-statin lipid-lowering medications using mixed-effect regression models with inverse probability of drop out weighting. A dose-response analysis included statin users compared to non-users. Results Our cohort consisted of 15,586 patients with mean age of 79.5 years at diagnosis and a majority of women (59.2 %). A dose-response effect was demonstrated: taking one defined daily dose of statins on average was associated with 0.63 more MMSE points after 3 years compared to no use of statins (95% CI: 0.33;0.94). Simvastatin users showed 1.01 more MMSE points (95% CI: 0.06;1.97) after 3 years compared to atorvastatin users. Younger (< 79.5 years at index date) simvastatin users had 0.80 more MMSE points compared to younger atorvastatin users (95% CI: 0.05;1.55) after 3 years. Simvastatin users had 1.03 more MMSE points (95% CI: 0.26;1.80) compared to rosuvastatin users after 3 years. No differences regarding statin lipophilicity were observed. The results of sensitivity analysis restricted to incident users were not consistent. Conclusions Some patients with AD or mixed dementia with indication for lipid-lowering medication may benefit cognitively from statin treatment; however, further research is needed to clarify the findings of sensitivity analyses.

This study aims to evaluate the moderating role of social media influence before and after the trip in Vietnam and Czech Republic. Primary data, gathered during time lag data surveys conducted among international tourists travelling to the Czech Republic and Vietnam, was analyzed with the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) in R. The findings revealed that social media influence with higher level positively strengthened the connection between tourist motivation and the post trip destination image. Furthermore, social media had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between tourist satisfaction and ecotourism loyalty. However, there are strong differences between the destinations of developed and emerging economies. For Czech Republic, as developed economy, social media influence plays a more important role as a value-expressive mechanism at the post-trip stage whereas for the developing economy of Vietnam, social media plays a more important role as an information source before the trip. This study extends the Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) by introducing the moderating effect of social media influence, which first time measures this moderating effect before and after the trip accounting for the dynamic nature of the destination image as an antecedent of ecotourism loyalty. Biomass is an organic substance widely available in nature as a fresh or a waste material considered renewable energy that aligns with the zero-carbon scheme to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. However, after conversion, biomass's physical or chemical properties highly affect biofuel characteristics. A variety of instruments can be used to figure out biofuel reactivity. Considering commonly adopted instruments, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is a simple, fast, and efficient way to determine biofuel properties and reactivity. The TGA method has the capability to analyze the biofuel properties (proximate analysis: moisture, volatile matter, fixed carbon, and ash) and combustion features of biomass (such as ignition, reactivity, etc). Most importantly, the TG curvatures (TGA and DTG) reveal the behavior of the biofuel during the thermodegradation process. As a consequence, the quality and quantity analyses on the biofuel properties and reactivity can be investigated comprehensively. Moreover, some TGA integration with artificial intelligence (AI) has been studied to better understand biofuel management and technology for future development. The outcome for the TGA-AI integration may obtain an excellent result with the fit quality value R2 >95 %. This study aims to comprehensively review relevant research using TGA to analyze the lignocellulosic biofuel properties and reactivity. Moreover, the discussion in this study is extended to perspective, challenges, and future work.
