An educated workforce is essential to government and industry, hence the need to provide a high-quality workforce has been crucial in higher education academic program development. In the cybersecurity field, the situation is not quite satisfactory, the reason comes down to the fact that this new industry is lacking a portable and measurable framework to evaluate the efficacy of the academic programs, thus, to provide the industry with the unified high-quality workforce. In this paper, we aim to come up with a design of an analytical framework for portable and measurable academic programs for future workforce development. The ultimate purpose for our research is to develop cybersecurity workforce through the increase of the number of cybersecurity professionals with a 4-year degree, in this project we will develop a seamless pathway for students transferring from 2-year programs such as Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana (Ivy Tech) Cybersecurity AAS program to a 4-year program such as Purdue University Northwest (PNW) CIT program.

Safety and security education are important part of technology related education, because of recent number of increase in safety and security related incidents. Game based learning is an emerging and rapidly advancing forms of computer-assisted instruction. Game based learning for safety and security education enables students to learn concepts and skills without the risk of physical injury and security breach. In this paper, a pedestal grinder safety game and physical security game have been developed using industrial standard modeling and game development software. The average score of the knowledge test of grinder safety game was 82%, which is higher than traditional lecture only instruction method. In addition, the survey of physical security game shows 84% average satisfaction ratio from high school students who played the game during the summer camp. The results of these studies indicated that game based learning method can enhance students' learning without potential harm to the students.

In distributed mobile systems, communication cost and disconnections are major concerns. In this paper, we address replica placement issues to achieve improved performance for systems supporting mobile transactions. We focus on handling correlated data objects and disconnections. Frequently, requests and/or transactions issued by mobile clients may access multiple data objects and should be considered together in terms of replica allocation. We discuss the replication cost model for correlated data objects and show that the problem of finding an optimal solution is NP. We further adjust the replication cost model for disconnections. A heuristic 'expansion-shrinking' algorithm is developed to efficiently make replica placement decisions. The algorithm obtains near optimal solutions for the correlated data model and yields significant performance gains when disconnection is considered. Experimental studies show that the heuristic expansion-shrinking algorithm significantly outperforms the general frequency-based replication schemes. As healthcare data are pushed online, consumers have raised big concerns on the breach of their personal information. Law and regulations have placed businesses and organizations under obligations to take actions to prevent data breach. Among various threats, insider threats have been identified as a major threat on data loss. Thus, effective mechanisms to control insider threats on data loss are urgently needed. The objective of this research is to address data loss prevention challenges in healthcare enterprise environment. First, a novel approach is provided to model internal threat, specifically inside activities. With inside activities modeling, data loss paths and threat vectors are formally described and identified. Then, threat vectors and potential data loss paths have been investigated in a healthcare enterprise environment. Threat vectors have been enumerated and data loss statistics data for some threat vectors have been collected. After that, issues on data loss prevention and inside activity incident identification, tracking, and reconstruction are discussed. Finally, evidences of inside activities are modeled as evidence trees to provide guidance for inside activity identification, tracking, and reconstruction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
