4. Augmented Reality Display of Robot with Graphs of Property Response Using Its USD Model

Abstract

This study proposes a method that can easily grasp the relationship between the actual machine and the graphs. In recent years, there has been a lot of research on augmented reality displays. The fields of research range from education to welfare. In the development of control systems, when evaluating the performance of a system by simulation or experiment, the results are often checked as graphs. Since the graphs are checked on a PC using CAD or other means, it is difficult to know which part of the actual machine each graph corresponds to. Therefore, we developed a tool that displays graphs in augmented reality around the actual machine through a camera on a mobile terminal. To display graphs in augmented reality, it is important to obtain the coordinates of the actual machine and display them in a location associated with the device. Therefore, a USD model with the same shape and size as the actual machine is used. This is achieved by displaying the USD model in augmented reality so that it is superimposed on the actual machine. Abstract

Ewing sarcoma (ES) is a high-grade malignancy usually identified in children and adolescents. Primary extraskeletal lesions of ES are rarely detected and no established treatments are available for advanced ES. A fifteen-year-old female presented with abdomen discomfort, and had high titer of neuron specific enolase (NSE), a specific tumor marker for neuroendocrine tumors. Radiological findings showed a large kidney mass with many nodules in bilateral lung and ilium. She was diagnosed as ES after total nephrectomy. She received chemotherapy and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation accompanied with high-dose chemotherapy, but the tumor recurred in lung and bone. Our case suggests that it is necessary to differentiate ES for childhood and adolescent patients of large renal tumor with metastasis having high value of NSE. Developing a new treatment including molecular targeted therapy is warranted for patients with advanced ES.

Abstract

Abstract: Novel vitamin D analogs, 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3-26, 23-lactam (DLAMs) with a lactam moiety in the side chain, were synthesized and examined for their function in bone. In computer docking simulation, DLAM-1P binds to vitamin D receptor (VDR), and its lactam moiety may interfere with VDR helix-12 folding. In co-cultures of mouse bone marrow cells and osteoblasts, (23S,25S)-DLAM-1P dose-dependently suppressed osteoclast differentiation induced by 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1α, 25(OH)2D3]. Its stereoisomer (23R,25R)-DLAM-1P did not affect the osteoclast differentiation. In osteoblasts, (23S,25S)-DLAM-1P suppressed 1α, 25(OH)2D3-induced mRNA expression of the receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). In an organ culture using mouse calvaria, bone-resorbing activity induced by 1α, 25(OH)2D3 was clearly suppressed by (23S,25S)-DLAM-1P. The other analog, (23S,25S)-DLAM-2P, showed a similar activity to (23S,25S)-DLAM-1P. Therefore, DLAMs act on osteoblasts as an antagonist of 1α, 25(OH)2D3 to suppress RANKL-dependent osteoclast formation, suggesting them as a novel candidate for the treatment of pathological bone loss. Abstract

Adverse effects of antiepileptic drugs are classified into idiosyncratic adverse effects, pharmacology-related adverse effects and biological effect after modification of seizure frequencies. Pharmacology-related adverse effects include those by administered AED and those by mutual interactions. Stevens-Johnson syndrome, one of the idiosyncratic adverse effects, may be predicted by the intrinsic HLA type (e.g., A*31:01 for CBZ). In epileptic patients after acute encephalitis, cutaneous adverse reactions usually occur in a month after encephalitis, but some patients will tolerate the causative AED by the extremely slow re-introduction. Prevention of pharmacology-related adverse effects needs therapeutic drug monitoring, and slow introduction considering dose-response curves for AEDs. Genotype examination of CYP2C9 and 2C19 can contribute to the safe introduction of PHT.
