Search

M 87 is the best target for studying black hole accretion and jet formation. Reanalysis of the EHT public data at 230 GHz shows a core-knots structure at the center and jet features (Miyoshi et al. 2022a). We here compare this with the new results of GMVA at 86 GHz showing a spatially resolved central core (Lu et al. 2023a). There are similarities and differences between the two. At 86 GHz,"two bright regions" are seen on the ring in the core."Core-Knot-Westknot", triple structure in the 230 GHz image shows apparent appearance of two peaks similar to the "two bright regions" when convolved with the GMVA beam. This similarity suggests that both frequencies reveal the same objects in the core area. Protrusions are observed on both the south and north sides of the core at both frequencies, becoming prominent and wing-like at 230 GHz. The 86 GHz image shows a triple ridge jet structure, while the 230 GHz image shows only a bright central ridge with two roots. Both frequencies show a shade between the core and the central ridge. To detect the faint features from the EHT2017 data, we found that the use of all baseline data is essential. Using all including the ultrashort baseline data, revealed the jet and faint structures. Without the ultrashort baselines, these structures were not detectable. To date, the proposed observation of Young Stellar Objects (YSOs) in the Galactic center (GC) still raises the question where and how these objects could have formed due to the violent vicinity of Sgr~A*. Here, we report the multi-wavelength detection of a highly dynamic YSO close to Sgr~A* that might be a member of the IRS13 cluster. We observe the beforehand known coreless bow-shock source X3 in the near- and mid-infrared (NIR/MIR) with SINFONI (VLT), NACO (VLT), ISAAC (VLT), VISIR (VLT), SHARP (NTT), and NIRCAM2 (KECK). In the radio domain, we use CO continuum and H30$\alpha$ ALMA observations to identify system components at different temperatures and locations concerning the central stellar source. It is suggested that these radio/submm observations in combination with the NIR Br$\gamma$ line can be associated with a protoplanetary disk of the YSO which is consistent with manifold VISIR observations that reveal complex molecules and elements such as PAH, SIV, NeII and ArIII in a dense and compact region. Based on the photometric multi-wavelength analysis, we infer the mass of $15^{+10}_{-5} M_{\odot}$ for the YSO with a related age of a few $10^4$ yr. Due to this age estimate and the required relaxation time scales for high-mass stars, this finding is an indication for ongoing star formation in the inner parsec. The proper motion and 3d distance imply a relation of X3 and IRS13. Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) is promising to be a powerful tool for precision astrometry of the area around Sagittarius A$^\ast$ (Sgr A$^\ast$) because it has the high angular resolution, high sensitivity, and wide field of view. We have observed the area including the Nuclear Star Cluster at 230 GHz with ALMA in October 2017. The angular resolution is ~0.03". We determined the relative positions to Sgr A$^\ast$ of 65 compact objects in the area with the accuracy of 0.001". We also analyzed the similar ALMA archival data obtained in June 2019 and determined the 64 relative positions in these objects. We derived the proper motions relative to Sgr A$^\ast$ by comparing these positions. The derived proper motions are roughly described with both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations around Sgr A$^\ast$. The rotation velocities are reproduced by Kepler orbits bounded around Sgr A$^\ast$. Moreover, the proper motions include co-moving clusters for example IRS13E and IRS13N. The positions and proper motions are almost consistent with those by previous infrared observations. We present the results based on the 2.5 arcsec-resolution observations using Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) of the Galactic Center Molecular Cloud G-0.02-0.07, or the 50 km/s Molecular Cloud (50MC), in the SO (N_J=2_2-1_1) line and 86-GHz continuum emission, the combination of which is considered to trace "hot molecular core candidates" (HMCCs) appearing in the early stage of massive star formation. In the 86-GHz continuum image, we identified nine dust cores in the central part of the 50MC, in which four famous compact HII regions are located. No new ultra-compact HII regions were found. We also identified 28 HMCCs in the 50MC with the SO line. The overall SO distribution had no clear positional correlation with the identified HII regions. The HMCCs in the 50MC showed a variety of association and non-association with dust and Class-I CH3OH maser emissions. The variety suggests that they are not in a single evolutionary stage or environment. Nevertheless, the masses of the identified HMCCs were found to be well approximated by a single power law of their radii, M_LTE/(M_sun)=5.44 x 10^5 (r/(pc))^2.17 at T_ex = 50-100 K. The derived HMCC masses were larger than those of the molecular cores with the same radii in the 50MC and also than those of the molecular clumps in the Galactic disk. We performed a search of cloud-cloud collision (CCC) sites in the Sagittarius A molecular cloud (SgrAMC) based on the survey observations using the Nobeyama 45-m telescope in the C$^{32}$S $J=1-0$ and SiO $v=0~J=2-1$ emission lines. We found candidates being abundant in shocked molecular gas in the Galactic Center Arc (GCA). One of them, M0.014-0.054, is located in the mapping area of our previous ALMA mosaic observation. We explored the structure and kinematics of M0.014-0.054 in the C$^{32}$S $J=2-1$, C$^{34}$S $J=2-1$, SiO $v=0~J=2-1$, H$^{13}$CO$^+ J=1-0$, and SO $N,J=2,2-1,1$ emission lines and fainter emission lines. M0.014-0.054 is likely formed by the CCC between the vertical molecular filaments (VP) of the GCA, and other molecular filaments along Galactic longitude. The bridging features between these colliding filaments on the PV diagram are found, which are the characteristics expected in CCC sites. We also found continuum compact objects in M0.014-0.054, which have no counterpart in the H42$\alpha$ recombination line. They are detected in the SO emission line, and would be "Hot Molecular Core (HMC)"s. Because the LTE mass of one HMC is larger than the virial mass, it is bound gravitationally. This is also detected in the CCS emission line. The embedded star would be too young to ionize the surrounding molecular cloud. The VP is traced by poloidal magnetic field. Because the strength of the magnetic field is estimated to be $\sim m$Gauss using the CF method, the VP is supported against fragmentation. The star formation in the HMC of M0.014-0.054 is likely induced by the CCC between the stable filaments, which may be a common mechanism in the SgrAMC., Comment: 40 pages, 14 figures, 2 tables, accepted for publication in PASJ

The Galactic Center Lobe (GCL) is a peculiar object widely protruding from the Galactic plane toward the positive Galactic latitude, which had been found toward the Galactic Center (GC) in the early days of the radio observation. The peculiar shape has suggested any relation with historical events, star burst, large explosion and so on in the GC. However, the issue whether the GCL is a single large structure located in the GC region is not yet settled conclusively. In the previous observations, the silhouette against the low frequency emission was found in the western part of the GCL (WPGCL), This suggests that the part is located in front of the GC region. On the other hand, the LSR velocity of the radio recombination line toward it was found to be as low as 0 kms$^{-1}$. However, these observations cannot determine the exact position on the line-of-sight. There is still another possibility that it is in the near side area of the GC region. In this analysis, we compare these results with the visual extinction map toward the GC. We found that the distribution of the visual extinction larger than 4 mag. clearly corresponds to the silhouette of the WPGCL. The WPGCL must be located at most within a few kpc from us and not in the GC region. A radio source at the Galactic center Sgr A* is a prime supermassive black hole candidate and therefore key to developing our understanding of them. Time variations in the 230 GHz band flux of Sgr A* have been found with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Cycle 5 observations. Measuring the flux density of Sgr A* in 1 min snapshots at 217.5, 219.5, and 234.0 GHz, we obtained light curves for ten 70 min periods. The light curves show variations at a few tens of minutes and hourly scales. The shorter timescale is similar to the orbital period of the innermost stable circular orbit around a $4\times 10^{6}$ $M_{\odot}$ black hole, suggesting that the variation originates from the immediate vicinity of Sgr A*. The Galactic Center IRS 13E cluster is a very intriguing IR object located at $\sim0.13$ pc from Sagittarius A$^\ast$ (Sgr A$^\ast$) in projection distance. There are both arguments for and against the hypothesis that a dark mass like an intermediate mass black hole (IMBH) exists in the cluster. Recently we have detected the rotating ionized gas ring around IRS 13E3, which belongs to the cluster, in the H30$\alpha$ recombination line using ALMA. The enclosed mass is derived to be $M_{\mathrm{encl.}}\simeq2\times10^4$ $M_\odot$, which agrees with an IMBH and is barely less than the astrometric upper limit mass of the IMBH around Sgr A$^\ast$. Because the limit mass depends on the true three-deminsional (3D) distance from Sgr A$^\ast$, it is very important to determine it observationally. However, the 3D distance is indefinite because it is hard to determine the line-of-sight (LOS) distance by usual methods. We would attempt to estimate the LOS distance by spectroscopic informations. The CH$_3$OH molecule is easily destroyed by cosmic ray around Sgr A$^{\ast}$. However, we detected a highly excited CH$_3$OH emission line in the ionized gas stream associated with IRS 13E3. This indicates that IRS 13E3 is located at $r\gtrsim 0.4$ pc from Sgr A$^{\ast}$., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, 1 table, Accepted for publication in PASJ

IRS 7 is an M red supergiant star which is located at $5".5$ north of Sagittarius A$^\ast$. We detected firstly the continuum emission at 340 GHz of IRS 7 using ALMA. The total flux density of IRS 7 is $S_\nu=448\pm45 \mu$Jy. The flux density indicates that IRS 7 has a photosphere radius of $R=1170\pm60 ~R_\odot$, which is roughly consistent with the previous VLTI measurement. We also detected a shell like feature with north extension in the H30$\alpha$ recombination line by ALMA. The electron temperature and electron density of the shell like structure are estimated to be $\bar{T}^\ast_{\mathrm e}=4650\pm500$ K and $\bar{n}_{\mathrm e}=(6.1\pm0.6)\times10^4$ cm$^{-3}$, respectively. The mass loss rate is estimated to be $\dot{m} \sim 1\times 10^{-4} M_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$, which is consistent with a typical mass loss rate of a pulsating red supergiant star with $M=20-25 M_\odot$. The kinematics of the ionized gas would support the hypothesis that the shell like structure made by the mass loss of IRS 7 is supersonically traveling in the ambient matter toward the south. We have observed the compact HII region complex nearest to the dynamical center of the Galaxy, G-0.02-0.07, using ALMA in the H42a recombination line, CS J=2-1, H13CO+ J=1-0, and SiO v=0, J=2-1 emission lines, and 86 GHz continuum emission. The HII regions HII-A to HII-C in the cluster are clearly resolved into a shell-like feature with a bright-half and a dark-half in the recombination line and continuum emission. The absorption features in the molecular emission lines show that HII-A, B and C are located on the near side of the 50 km/s Molecular Cloud (50MC) but HII-D is located on the far side. The electron temperatures and densities range Te=5150-5920 K and ne=950-2340 cm-3, respectively. The electron temperatures on the bright-half are slightly lower than those on the dark-half, while the electron densities on the bright-half are slightly higher than those on the dark-half. The HII regions are located on the molecular filaments in the 50MC. They have already broken through the filaments and are growing in the surrounding molecular gas. There are some shocked molecular gas components around the HII regions. From line width of the H42a recombination line, the expansion velocities from HII-A to HII-D are estimated to be Vexp=16.7, 11.6, 11.1, and 12.1 km/s, respectively. The expansion timescales from HII-A to HII-D are estimated to be Tage~1.4x0^4, 1.7x10^4, 2.0x10^4, and 0.7x10^4 years, respectively. The spectral types of the central stars from HII-A to HII-D are estimated to be O8V, O9.5V, O9V, and B0V, respectively. The positional relation among the HII regions, the SiO molecule enhancement area, and Class-I maser spots suggest that the shock wave caused by a cloud-cloud collision propagated along the line from HII-C to HII-A in the 50MC. We detected a compact ionized gas associated physically with IRS13E3, an Intermediate Mass Black Hole (IMBH) candidate in the Galactic Center, in the continuum emission at 232 GHz and H30$\alpha$ recombination line using ALMA Cy.5 observation (2017.1.00503.S, P.I. M.Tsuboi). The continuum emission image shows that IRS13E3 is surrounded by an oval-like structure. The angular size is $0".093\pm0".006\times 0".061\pm0".004$ ( $1.14\times10^{16}$ cm $\times 0.74\times10^{16}$ cm). The structure is also identified in the H30$\alpha$ recombination line. This is seen as an inclined linear feature in the position-velocity diagram, which is usually a defining characteristic of a rotating gas ring around a large mass. The gas ring has a rotating velocity of $V_\mathrm{rot}\simeq230$ km s$^{-1}$ and an orbit radius of $r\simeq6\times10^{15}$ cm. From these orbit parameters, the enclosed mass is estimated to be $M_{\mathrm{IMBH}}\simeq2.4\times10^4$ $M_\odot$. The mass is within the astrometric upper limit mass of the object adjacent to Sgr A$^{\ast}$. Considering IRS13E3 has an X-ray counterpart, the large enclosed mass would be supporting evidence that IRS13E3 is an IMBH. Even if a dense cluster corresponds to IRS13E3, the cluster would collapse into an IMBH within $\tau<10^7$ years due to the very high mass density of $\rho \gtrsim8\times10^{11} M_\odot pc^{-3}$. Because the orbital period is estimated to be as short as $T=2\pi r/V_\mathrm{rot}\sim 50-100$ yr, the morphology of the observed ionized gas ring is expected to be changed in the next several decades. The mean electron temperature and density of the ionized gas are $\bar{T}_{\mathrm e}=6800\pm700$ K and $\bar{n}_{\mathrm e}=6\times10^5$ cm$^{-3}$, respectively. The Galactic Center 50 km s$^{-1}$ Molecular Cloud (50MC) is the most remarkable molecular cloud in the Sagittarius A region. This cloud is a candidate for the massive star formation induced by cloud-cloud collision (CCC) with a collision velocity of $\sim30\rm~km~s^{-1}$ that is estimated from the velocity dispersion. We observed the whole of the 50MC with a high angular resolution ($\sim2.0''\times1.4''$) in ALMA cycle 1 in the H$^{13}$CO$^+~J=1-0$ and ${\rm C^{34}S}~J=2-1$ emission lines. We identified 241 and 129 bound cores with a virial parameter of less than 2, which are thought to be gravitationally bound, in the H$^{13}$CO$^+$ and ${\rm C^{34}S}$ maps using the clumpfind algorithm, respectively. In the CCC region, the bound ${\rm H^{13}CO^+}$ and ${\rm C^{34}S}$ cores are 119 and 82, whose masses are $68~\%$ and $76~\%$ of those in the whole 50MC, respectively. The distribution of the core number and column densities in the CCC are biased to larger densities than those in the non-CCC region. The distributions indicate that the CCC compresses the molecular gas and increases the number of the dense bound cores. Additionally, the massive bound cores with masses of $>3000~M_{\odot}$ exist only in the CCC region, although the slope of the core mass function (CMF) in the CCC region is not different from that in the non-CCC region. We conclude that the compression by the CCC efficiently formed massive bound cores even if the slope of the CMF is not changed so much by the CCC.

We present the high angular resolution and high sensitivity images of the "Circum-Nuclear Disk (CND)" and its surrounding region of Milky Way Galaxy in the CS J=2-1, SiO v=0 J=2-1, H^13CO^+ J=1-0, C^34S J=2-1, and CH_3OH J_{K_a, K_c}=2_{1,1}-1_{1,0}A_{--} emission lines using ALMA. The CND is recognized as a torus-like molecular gas with gaps in these emission lines except for the CH_3OH emission line. The inner and outer radii of the CND are estimated to be R_in~1.5 and R_out~2 pc, respectively. The velocities of the rotation and radial motion are estimated to be V_rot~115 km s^-1 and V_rad~23 km s^-1, respectively. The LTE molecular gas mass is estimated to be M_LTE~3x10^4 Mo. We also found some anomalous molecular clouds in the surrounding region. One of the molecular clouds is positionally connected to a part of the CND adjacent to the "Western Arc". However, the cloud is seen to rotate in the opposite direction to the CND. The molecular cloud would be falling currently from the outer region to the CND and being disrupted by the tidal shear of Sagittarius A*(Sgr A*) because the velocity is not yet assimilated into that of the CND. Another molecular cloud is continuously connected to the tip of the "Eastern Arm (EA)". The velocity of this cloud is consistent with that of the ionized gas in the EA. These facts suggest that the molecular cloud is falling from the outer region to the vicinity of Sgr A*, being disrupted by the tidal shear, and ionized by strong UV emission from the Central Cluster because the impact parameter of the cloud is smaller than the first cloud. These falling clouds would play an important role in transferring material from the outer region to the CND and/or the vicinity of Sgr A*., Comment: 31 pages, 12 figures, Accepted for publication in PASJ

The Galactic Center is the nuclear region of the nearest spiral galaxy, Milky Way, and contains the supermassive black hole with M~4x10^6 Msun, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*). One of basic questions about the Galactic Center is whether Sgr A* alone exists as a "massive" black hole in the region or not. The IRS13E complex is a very intriguing IR object which contains a large dark mass comparable to the mass of an intermediate mass black hole (IMBH) from the proper motions of the main member stars. However, the existence of the IMBH remains controversial. There are some objections to accepting the existence of the IMBH. In this study, we detected ionized gas with a very large velocity width (Delta v_{FWZI} ~ 650 km/s) and a very compact size (~400 AU) in the complex using ALMA. We also found an extended component connecting with the compact ionized gas. The properties suggest that this would be an ionized gas flow on the Keplerian orbit with high eccentricity. The enclosed mass is estimated to be 10^4 Msun by the analysis of the orbit. The mass does not conflict with the upper limit mass of the IMBH around Sgr A* which is derived by the long-term astrometry with VLBA. In addition, the object probably has an X-ray counterpart. Consequently, a very fascinated possibility is that the detected ionized gas is rotating around an IMBH embedded in the IRS13E complex., Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in APJL

The FOREST Unbiased Galactic plane Imaging survey with the Nobeyama 45-m telescope (FUGIN) project is one of the legacy projects using the new multi-beam FOREST receiver installed on the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. This project aims to investigate the distribution, kinematics, and physical properties of both diffuse and dense molecular gas in the Galaxy at once by observing 12CO, 13CO, and C18O J=1-0 lines simultaneously. The mapping regions are a part of the 1st quadrant (10d < l < 50d, |b| < 1d) and the 3rd quadrant (198d < l <236d, |b| < 1d) of the Galaxy, where spiral arms, bar structure, and the molecular gas ring are included. This survey achieves the highest angular resolution to date (~20") for the Galactic plane survey in the CO J=1-0 lines, which makes it possible to find dense clumps located farther away than the previous surveys. FUGIN will provide us with an invaluable dataset for investigating the physics of the galactic interstellar medium (ISM), particularly the evolution of interstellar gas covering galactic scale structures to the internal structures of giant molecular clouds, such as small filament/clump/core. We have observed the Galactic Center 50km/s molecular cloud (50MC) with ALMA to search for filamentary structures. In the CS J=2-1 emission line channel maps, we succeeded in identifying 27 molecular cloud filaments using the DisPerSE algorithm. This is the first attempt of "filament-finding" in the Galactic Center Region. We found a molecular cloud connecting from the outer region to the "Galactic Center Mini-spiral (GCMS)" which is a bundle of the ionized gas streams adjacent to Sgr A*. The molecular cloud has a filamentary appearance which is prominent in the CS J=2-1 emission line and is continuously connected with the GCMS. The velocity of the molecular cloud is also continuously connected with that of the ionized gas in the GCMS observed in the H42alpha recombination line. The morphological and kinematic relations suggest that the molecular cloud is falling from the outer region to the vicinity of Sgr A*, being disrupted by the tidal shear of Sgr A* and ionized by UV emission from the Central Cluster. We also found the SiO J=2-1 emission in the boundary area between the filamentary molecular cloud and the GCMS. We have performed the observation of the "Galactic Center Mini-spiral(GCMS)" in H42alpha recombination line as a part of the first large-scale mosaic observation in the Sagittarius A complex using Atacama Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA). We revealed the kinematics of the ionized gas streamers of the GCMS. We found that the ionized gas streamers of the Northern Arm(NA) and Eastern Arm(EA) in their outer regions somewhat deviate from the Keplerian orbits which were derived previously from the trajectories in the inner regions. In addition, we found that the streamer corresponding to the Bar of the GCMS has a Keplerian orbit with an eccentricity of e~0.8, which is independent from the Keplerian orbits of the other streamers of the GCMS. We estimated the LTE electron temperature and electron density in the ionized gas streamers. We confirmed the previously claimed tendency that the electron temperatures increase toward Sgr A*. We found that the electron density in the NA and EA also increases with approaching Sgr A* without the lateral expansion of the gas streamers. This suggests that there is some external pressure around the GCMS. The ambient ionized gas may cause the confinement and/or the perturbation for the orbits. There is a good positional correlation between the protostar candidates detected by JVLA at 34 GHz and the ionized gas streamer, Northeastern Arm, newly found by our H42alpha recombination line observation. This suggests that the candidates had formed in the streamer and they were brought to near Sgr A* as the streamer falls., Comment: 35 pages, 12 figures, Accepted for publication in ApJ

We present continuum images of the "Galactic Center Mini-spiral" of 100, 250, and 340 GHz bands with the analysis of the Cy.0 data acquired from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) archive. Pretty good UV coverage of the data and the "self-calibration" method give us an opportunity to obtain dynamic ranges of over 2x10^4 in the resultant maps of the 250 and 340 GHz bands. In particular the image of the 340 GHz band has high dynamic ranges unprecedented in sub-millimeter wave. The angular resolutions attain to 1.57"x1.33" in the 100 GHz band, 0.63"x0.53" in the 250 GHz band, and 0.44"x0.38" in the 340 GHz band, respectively. The continuum images clearly depict the "Mini-spiral", which is an ionized gas stream in the vicinity of Sgr A*. We found the tight correlation between the dust emission peaks and the OB/WR stars in the Northern-arm of the "Mini-spiral". The core mass function of the dust core identified by the clumpfind algorithm would obey the flat power-law dN/dM=aM^-1.5+/-0.4 on the high-mass side. We performed a search of star-forming sites influenced by external factors, such as SNRs, HII regions, and cloud-cloud collisions, to understand the star-forming activity in the Galactic center region using the NRO Galactic Center Survey in SiO $v=0, J=2-1$, H$^{13}$CO$^+ J=1-0$, and CS $J=1-0$ emission lines obtained by the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. We found a half-shell like feature (HSF) with a high integrated line intensity ratio of $ int T_{ mathrm B}$(SiO $v=0, J=2-1$)$dv$/$ int T_{ mathrm B}$(H$^{13}$CO$^+ J=1-0$)$dv sim6-8$ in the 50 km s$^{-1}$ molecular cloud, which is a most conspicuous molecular cloud in the region and harbors an active star-forming site seen as several compact HII regions. The high ratio in the HSF indicates that the cloud contains huge shocked molecular gas. The HSF is also seen as a half-shell feature in the position-velocity diagram. A hypothesis explaining the chemical and kinetic properties of the HSF is that the feature is originated by a cloud-cloud collision (CCC). We analyzed the CS $J=1-0$ emission line data obtained by Nobeyama Millimeter Array to reveal the relation between the HSF and the molecular cloud cores in the cloud. We made a cumulative core mass function (CMF) of the molecular cloud cores within the HSF. The CMF in the CCC region is not truncated at least up to $ sim2500M_ odot$ although the CMF of the non-CCC region reaches the upper limit of $ sim1500M_ odot$. Most massive molecular cores with $M_{ mathrm{gas}}>750 M_{ odot}$ are located only around the ridge of the HSF and adjoin the compact HII region. In order to explore any change caused by the G2 cloud approaching, we have monitored the flux density of Sgr A* at 22 GHz from Feb. 2013 to Aug. 2014 with a sub-array of Japanese VLBI Network . The observation period included the expected periastron dates. The number of observation epochs was 283 days. We have observed no significant microwave enhancement of Sgr A* in the whole observation period. The average flux density in the period is $S=1.23+/-0.33$ Jy. The 22 GHz H2O maser in Orion KL has shown extraordinary burst events in 1979-1985 and 1998-1999, sometimes called supermaser. We have conducted monitoring observations of the supermaser in Orion KL using VERA, VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry, in the current third burst since 2011 March. Three flux maxima are detected in 2011 and 2012 with rising and falling timescales of 2-7 months. Time variations of the supermaser seem symmetric for all of the active phases. The maximum total flux density of 135000 Jy is observed in 2012 June while it is still one order of magnitude lower than those in previous bursts. The supermaser consists of two spatially different components at different velocities. They are elongated along a northwest-southeast direction perpendicular to the low-velocity outflow driven by Source I. Proper motions of the supermaser features with respect to Source I are measured toward west and southwest directions, almost parallel to the low-velocity outflow. The flux density and linewidth show an anti-correlation as expected for an unsaturated maser emission. The supermaser is located close to the methylformate (HCOOCH3) line and continuum emission peaks in the Orion Compact Ridge detected by ALMA. The broader velocity range of the weak HCOOCH3 emission at the supermaser position would be an evidence of a shock front. On the other hand, the 321 GHz H2O line is not detected at the position of the supermaser. It can be explained qualitatively by one of the theoretical H2O excitation models without extraordinary conditions. Our results support a scenario that the supermaser is excited in the dense gas interacting with the low-velocity outflow in the Compact Ridge. We performed the observation of the flux densities of SgrA* at 90 and 102GHz in order to detect the time lag between these frequencies using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array, which was previously reported at lower frequencies. We detected a radio flare during the observation period on 6 April 2005 and calculated the z-transformed discrete correlation function between the light curves. The time lag between these frequencies was not detected. If the expanding plasma model which explains the time lag at lower frequencies is valid, the light curve at 90GHz would be delayed with respect to the one at 102GHz. This result suggests that the plasma blobs ejected near the Galactic Center black hole may be widely diverse especially in optical thickness. A compact gas cloud G2 is predicted to reach the pericenter of its orbit around the super massive black hole (SMBH) of our galaxy, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*). This event will give us a rare opportunity to observe the interaction between SMBH and gas around it. We report the result of the fully three-dimensional simulation of the evolution of G2 during the first pericenter passage. The strong tidal force by the SMBH stretches the cloud along its orbit, and compresses it strongly in the vertical direction, resulting in the heating up and flaring up of the cloud. The bolometric luminosity will reach the maximum of $\sim100 L_{\odot}$. This flare should be easily observed in the near infrared., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures. Accepted for publication in PASJ. We performed the observation of the flux densities of Sgr A* at 90 and 102 GHz on 6 April 2005 using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array in order to detect the time lag between these frequencies. We constructed light curves covering a few hour with 1 min bin, and the Intra-Day Variability, which had a rising phase and intensity peak, of Sgr A* is clearly seen at both frequencies. We calculated the z-transformed discrete correlation function between the light curves of Sgr A* at 90 and 102 GHz. The derived time lag of the flares at these frequencies was approximately zero, contrary to our expectations based on the previously reported time lag at lower frequencies. If the radio flares of Sgr A* are explained by the expanding plasma model, the light curve at 90 GHz would be delayed with respect to the one at 102 GHz. Large deployable antennas with a mesh surface woven by fine metal wires are an important technology for communications satellites and space radio telescopes. However, it is difficult to make metal mesh surfaces with sufficient radio-frequency (RF) performance for frequencies higher than millimeter waves. In this paper, we present the RF performance of metal mesh surfaces at 43 GHz. For this purpose, we developed an apparatus to measure the reflection coefficient, transmission coefficient, and radiative coefficient of the mesh surface. The reflection coefficient increases as a function of metal mesh surface tension, whereas the radiative coefficient decreases. The anisotropic aspects of the reflection coefficient and the radiative coefficient are also clearly seen. They depend on the front and back sides of the metal mesh surface and the rotation angle. The transmission coefficient was measured to be almost constant. The measured radiative coefficients and transmission coefficients would cause significant degradation of the system noise temperature. In addition, we carried out an astronomical observation of a well-known SiO maser source, R Cas, by using a metal mesh mirror on the NRO 45-m radio telescope Coude system. The metal mesh mirror considerably increases the system noise temperature and slightly decreases the peak antenna temperature. We present the statistical properties of molecular clumps in the Galactic center 50 km s$^{-1}$ molecular cloud (GCM-0.02-0.07) based on observations of the CS $J=1-0$ emission line with the Nobeyama Millimeter Array. In the cloud, 37 molecular clumps with local thermal equilibrium (LTE) masses of $2\times10^2-6\times10^3 M_\odot$ were identified by using the {\it clumpfind} algorithm. The velocity widths of the molecular clumps are about five-fold those of Galactic disk molecular clouds with the same radius. The virial-theorem masses are three-fold the LTE masses. The mass and size spectra can be described by power laws of $dN/dM\propto M^{-2.6\pm0.1}$ ($M\gtrsim 900M_\odot$) and $dN/dR\propto R^{-5.9\pm0.3}$ ($R\gtrsim 0.35$ pc), respectively. The statistical properties of the region interacting with the Sgr A East shell and those of the non-interacting part of the cloud are significantly different. The interaction probably makes the mass function steeper, from $dN/dM\propto M^{-2.0\pm0.1}$ in the non-interacting part to $dN/dM\propto M^{-4.0\pm0.2}$ in the interacting region. Cygnus X-3 (Cyg X-3) is a well-known microquasar with relativistic jets. Cyg X-3 is especially famous for its giant radio outbursts, which have been observed once every few years since their first discovery. Each giant outburst presumably consists of a series of short-duration flares. The physical parameters of the flares in the giant outbursts are difficult to derive because the successive flares overlap. Here, we report isolated flares in the quiescent phase of Cyg X-3, as observed at 23, 43, and 86 GHz with the 45-m radio telescope at Nobeyama Radio Observatory. The observed flares have small amplitude (0.5--2 Jy) and short duration (1--2 h). The millimeter fluxes rapidly increase and then exponentially decay. The lifetime of the decay is shorter at higher frequency. The radio spectrum of Cyg X-3 during the flares is flat or inverted around the peak flux density. After that, the spectrum gradually becomes steeper. The observed characteristics are consistent with those of adiabatic expanding plasma. The brightness temperature of the plasma at the peak is estimated to be $T_B\gtrsim 1 \times 10^{11}$ K. In February 2011, a burst event of the H$_{2}$O maser in Orion KL (Kleinmann-Low object) has started after 13-year silence. This is the third time to detect such phenomena in Orion KL, followed by those in 1979-1985 and 1998. We have carried out astrometric observations of the bursting H$_{2}$O maser features in Orion KL with VERA (VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry), a Japanese VLBI network dedicated for astrometry. The total flux of the bursting feature at the LSR velocity of 7.58 km s$^{-1}$ reaches 4.4$\times10^{4}$ Jy in March 2011. The intensity of the bursting feature is three orders of magnitudes larger than that of the same velocity feature in the quiescent phase in 2006. Two months later, another new feature appears at the LSR velocity of 6.95 km s$^{-1}$ in May 2011, separated by 12 mas north of the 7.58 km s$^{-1}$ feature. Thus, the current burst occurs at two spatially different features. The bursting masers are elongated along the northwest-southeast direction as reported in the previous burst in 1998. We determine the absolute positions of the bursting features for the first time ever with a submilli-arcsecond (mas) accuracy. Their positions are coincident with the shocked molecular gas called the Orion Compact Ridge. We tentatively detect the absolute proper motions of the bursting features toward southwest direction. It is most likely that the outflow from the radio source I or another young stellar object interacting with the Compact Ridge is a possible origin of the H$_{2}$O maser burst., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in ApJL

In the construction of a space radio telescope, it is essential to use materials with a low noise factor and high mechanical robustness for the antenna surface. We present the results of measurements of the reflection performance of two candidates for antenna surface materials for use in a radio telescope installed in a new millimeter-wave astronomical satellite, ASTRO-G. To estimate the amount of degradation caused by fluctuations in the thermal environment in the projected orbit of the satellite, a thermal cycle test was carried out for two candidates, namely, copper foil carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminum-coated CFRP. At certain points during the thermal cycle test, the reflection loss of the surfaces was measured precisely by using a radiometer in the 41-45 GHz band. In both candidates, cracks appeared on the surface after the thermal cycle test, where the number density of the cracks increased as the thermal cycle progressed. The reflection loss also increased in proportion to the number density of the cracks. Nevertheless, the loss of the copper foil surface met the requirements of ASTRO-G at the end of the equivalent life, whereas that of the aluminum-coated surface exceeded the maximal value in the requirement even before the end of the cycle., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in PASJ

Cyg X-3 is a well-known microquasar with a bipolar relativistic jet. Its famous giant radio outbursts have been repeated once every several years. However, the behavior of the millimeter wave emission has remained unclear because of limitations of time resolution in previous observations. We report here millimeter wave observations of Cyg X-3 experiencing giant outbursts with one of the finest time resolutions. We find a series of short-lived flares with amplitude of 1-2 Jy in the millimeter light curve of the 2008 April-May outburst. They have flat spectra around 100 GHz. We also find abrupt and large amplitude flux density changes with e-folding time of 3.6 minutes or less. The source size of Cyg X-3 is constrained within 0.4 AU and the brightness temperature is estimated to be $T_B \gtrsim 1\times10^{11}$ K., Comment: 4 figures, PASJ, in press

We have performed monitoring observations of the 3-mm flux density toward the Galactic Center compact radio source Sgr A* with the Australia Telescope Compact Array since 2005 October. Careful calibrations of both elevation-dependent and time-dependent gains have enabled us to establish the variability behavior of Sgr A*. Sgr A* appeared to undergo a high and stable state in 2006 June session, and a low and variable state in 2006 August session. We report the results, with emphasis on two detected intra-day variation events during its low states. One is on 2006 August 12 when Sgr A* exhibited a 33% fractional variation in about 2.5 hr. The other is on 2006 August 13 when two peaks separated by about 4 hr, with a maximum variation of 21% within 2 hr, were seen. The observed short timescale variations are discussed in light of two possible scenarios, i.e., the expanding plasmon model and the sub-Keplerian orbiting hot spot model. The fitting results indicate that for the adiabatically expanding plasmon model, the synchrotron cooling can not be ignored, and a minimum mass-loss rate of 9.7*10^{-10}M_sun /yr is obtained based on parameters derived for this modified expanding plasmon model. We introduce a new space VLBI project, the Second VLBI Space Observatory Program (VSOP2), following the success of the VLBI Space Observatory Program (VSOP1). VSOP2 has 10 times higher angular resolution, up to about 40 micro arcseconds, 10 times higher frequency up to 43 GHz, and 10 times higher sensitivity compared to VSOP1. Then VSOP2 should become a most powerful tool to observe innermost regions of AGN and astronomical masers. ASTRO-G is a spacecraft for VSOP2 project constructing in ISAS/JAXA since July 2007. ASTRO-G will be launched by JAXA H-IIA rocket in fiscal year 2012. ASTRO-G and ground-based facilities are combined as VSOP2. To achieve the good observation performances, we must realize new technologies. They are large precision antenna, fast-position switching capability, new LNAs, and ultra wide-band down link, etc.. VSOP2 is a huge observation system involving ASTRO-G, ground radio telescopes, tracking stations, and correlators, one institute can not prepare a whole system of VSOP2. Then we must need close international collaboration to get sufficient quality of resultant maps and to give a sufficient quantity of observation time for astronomical community. We developed a waveguide-type dual-polarization sideband-separating SIS receiver system of the 100-GHz band for the 45-m radio telescope at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory, Japan. This receiver is composed of an ortho-mode transducer and two sideband-separating SIS mixers, which are both based on the waveguide technique. The receiver has four intermediate frequency bands of 4.0--8.0 GHz. Over the radio frequency range of 80--120 GHz, the single-sideband receiver noise temperatures are 50--100 K and the image rejection ratios are greater than 10 dB. We developed new matching optics for the telescope beam as well as new IF chains for the four IF signals. The new receiver system was installed in the telescope, and we successfully observed the 12CO, 13CO and C18O emission lines simultaneously toward the Sagittarius B2 region to confirm the performance of the receiver system. The SSB noise temperature of the system, including the atmosphere, became approximately half of that of the previous receiver system. We have performed monitoring observations of the flux density toward the Galactic center compact radio source, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), which is a supermassive black hole, from 1996 to 2005 using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array of the Nobeyama Radio Observatory, Japan. These monitoring observations of Sgr A* were carried out in the 3- and 2-mm (100 and 140 GHz) bands, and we have detected several flares of Sgr A*. We found intraday variation of Sgr A* in the 2000 March flare. The twofold increase timescale is estimated to be about 1.5 hr at 140 GHz. This intraday variability suggests that the physical size of the flare-emitting region is compact on a scale at or below about 12 AU (~150 Rs; Schwarzschild radius). On the other hand, clear evidence of long-term periodic variability was not found from a periodicity analysis of our current millimeter data set., Comment: 4 pages. We have made a high-resolution VLBI observation of the gamma-ray loud quasar PKS 1622-297 with the HALCA spacecraft and ground radio telescopes at 5 GHz in 1998 February, almost three years after the source exhibited a spectacular GeV gamma-ray flare. The source shows an elongated structure toward the west on the parsec scale. The visibility data are well modeled by three distinct components; a bright core and two weaker jet components. Comparison with previous observations confirms that the jet components have an apparent superluminal motion up to 12.1 h^{-1}c, with the inner jet components having lower superluminal speeds. We apply the inverse Compton catastrophe model and derive a Doppler factor, \delta, of 2.45, which is somewhat lower than that of other gamma-ray loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs), suggesting the source was in a more quiescent phase at the epoch of our observation. As an alternative probe of the sub-parsec scale structure, we also present the results from multi-epoch ATCA total flux monitoring, which indicate the presence of persistent intraday variability consistent with refractive interstellar scintillation. Over a decade ago it was established that the remarkable high energy transients, known as soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs), are a Galactic population and originate from neutron stars with intense (<~ 10^15 G) magnetic fields ("magnetars"). On 27 December 2004 a giant flare (fluence >~ 0.3 erg/cm^2) was detected from SGR 1806-20. Here we report the discovery of a fading radio counterpart. We began a monitoring program from 0.2GHz to 250GHz and obtained a high resolution 21-cm radio spectrum which traces the intervening interstellar neutral Hydrogen clouds. Analysis of the spectrum yields the first direct distance measurement of SGR 1806-20. The source is located at a distance greater than 6.4 kpc and we argue that it is nearer than 9.8 kpc. If true, our distance estimate lowers the total energy of the explosion and relaxes the demands on theoretical models. The energetics and the rapid decay of the radio source are not compatible with the afterglow model that is usually invoked for gamma-ray bursts. We have performed the monitoring observations of flux density of Sagittarius A* at short millimeter wavelengths (100 and 140 GHz bands) on seven years in the period from 1996 to 2003 using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array (NMA). We found intra-day variation of Sgr A* in March 2000 flare. The flux density at the peak of the flares increases 100-200 % at 100 GHz and 200-400 % at 140 GHz ($?Delta S/S$), respectively. The two-fold increase timescale of the flare is estimated to be about 1.5 hours at 140 GHz. The intra-day variation at mm-wavelengths has similar increase timescale as those in the X-ray and infrared flares but has smaller amplitude. This short timescale variability suggests that the physical size of the emitting region is smaller than 12 AU $?approx$ 150 Rs). The decay timescale of the flare was at most 24 hours.
