Symptoms in post-COVID-19 patients who require hospitalization can persist for months, significantly affecting their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Thus, the present study aimed to discuss the main findings regarding HRQoL in post-COVID-19 patients who required hospitalization. An electronic search was performed in the MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web of Science, LILACS, and Scopus databases, without date and language restrictions, until July 2021. Twenty-four articles were included in the analysis. It seems that HRQoL partially improved soon after hospital discharge, although the negative impact on HRQoL may persist for months. The physical and mental aspects are affected because patients report pain, discomfort, anxiety, and depression. The HRQoL of COVID-19 infected patients was worse than that of uninfected patients. Additionally, HRQoL seemed worse in patients admitted to the intensive care unit than in those who remained in the ward. Improvements in HRQoL after hospital discharge are independent of imaging improvement, and there seems to be no association between HRQoL after hospital discharge and disease severity on hospital admission. Many factors have been identified as determinants of HRQoL, with women and advanced age being the most related to worse HRQOL, followed by the duration of invasive mechanical ventilation and the need for intensive care. Other factors included the presence and number of comorbidities, lower forced vital capacity, high body mass index, smoking history, undergraduate education, and unemployment. In conclusion, these findings may aid in clinical management and should be considered in the aftercare of patients.

- Abstract

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Reabilita??o e Desempenho Funcional, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2022. Chagas disease is an infection caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi), discovered in 1909 by the Brazilian researcher and physician Carlos Chagas. The disease remains a serious public health problem in Latin America, with potential expansion to non-endemic regions. It is an incurable, neglected and stigmatizing disease. In addition, the disease affects individuals in their most productive phase of life and patients often report fear of sudden death. All these factors can lead to impairment of these patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Therefore, given this complexity of the disease and its impact on the HRQoL of these patients, it is necessary to evaluate and synthesize information about the HRQoL to assist in the clinical follow-up of the patient and in the elaboration of effective public policies. Thus, a integrative review was performed to discuss the main findings related to the HRQoL of patients with Chagas disease, focusing on sociodemographic, lifestyle, echocardiographic and functional determinants, in addition to the effect of non-invasive interventions on the HRQoL of this population. A literature search was carried out in the MEDLINE, Web of Science, CINAHL, Scopus, LILACS and Embase databases, with no date or language restrictions. The search was performed between June and August 2021 by three independent researchers (ILA, RDBO and TRD), using the following PubMed search strategy: ((Chagas disease[Title/Abstract]) OR (Chagas cardiomyopathy[Title/Abstract]) Abstract]) OR (Chagas heart disease[Title/Restract])) AND ((quality of life[Title]/Abstract]) OR (quality of life related to health[Title/Abstract])), being modified for each database. Twenty-two articles were included in the review. The results showed that HRQoL is worse in patients with Chagas disease than in healthy individuals, especially in the presence of cardiovascular and/or gastrointestinal symptoms. Gender, age, functional class, physical activity level, healthy habits and medication can affect HRQoL. The decrease in systolic function seems to have a negative impact on HRQoL. No association was observed with peak oxygen consumption in maximal tests. Both pharmaceutical care and physical training have a positive effect on the HRQoL of patients with Chagas cardiomyopathy, and the mental component may be a prognostic marker in this population. Finally, the study concludes that the HRQoL assessment can provide important information about the health status of patients with Chagas disease, which can help in clinical practice and in patient follow-up.

However, it is possible that some of the Physical Therapy modalities (PT modalities) in preterm can be painful and stressful. Objective: Describe the clinical characteristics and pain level of premature infants undergoing physical therapy care in the NICU. Methods: In order to identify whether PT modalities cause pain and stress, we conducted a Prospective cohort approved by the ethics committee (CAAE: 70828017.2.0000.5020) who observed for almost two years the care of neonatal physiotherapists. Were used 3 scales to analyze pain and stress: Neonatal Infant Pain Scale, Premature Infant Pain Profile and Neonatal Facial Action Coding System. We also describe the clinical characteristics of the preterms and their relationship with the frequency of the PT modalities. Results: This study observed 153 prematures with an average gestational age of 31.59 ?? 2.77 weeks, with low weight and born by cesarean delivery. Most were under invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and were discharged. In all, 32 different PT modalities were recorded, the most frequent of which were: aspiration, assessment, positioning and stimulation. The non-pharmacological measure most used to control pain was Facilitated Tucking and the non-pharmacological measure was Fentanyl. Most preterms did not experience pain before or after the PT modalities. Small preterms for gestational age were six times more likely to die than those suitable for gestational age, with the Respiratory Discomfort Syndrome being the main cause of death. Our results demonstrated that the use of IMV and the length of hospital stay increased the frequency of PT modalities, especially aspiration. We also observed that the increase in the frequency of PT modalities was inversely proportional to gestational age and birth weight. Conclusion: It was possible to observe that PT modalities did not cause pain and stress. Physical therapy participated positively in the pain and stress control measures used in the observed NICU.

Introduction: It is in childhood that the individual develops a repertoire of skills in order to meet the daily environmental demands, in this process of acquiring functional skills during childhood, the role of the caregiver stands out. It is widely known in the literature the importance of several factors that favor child development, however, little is known about the factors that explain the acquisition of functional skills, as well as the need for lessed assistance during childhood. Objective: To investigate the association of environmental and biological factors that can explain functional skills and caregiver assistance to children aged 6 to 18 months. Methods: This is the cross-sectional, observational study that evaluated 74 with typical development children of both sexes, aged between 6 and 18 months, residents in the municipality of Diamantina-MG and registered in the waiting list of the extension project ?Nothing Better": Aquatic Stimulation for Babies. The sociodemographic profile was traced by its own questionnaire. Functionality was assessed using the Inventory of pediatric evaluation of disability (PEDI). The environment was assessed by the Affordances in the Home Environment Engine Development-infant scale (AHEMD-IS). Environmental and personal factors associated with the functional skills and caregiver assistance were assessed in the categories: self-care; social function; and mobility. Multivariate linear regression analyses were performed. Results: The multiple linear regression analysis showed that the variable ?age of the child? explained 45% of the functional ability: self-care with the values (? 0.68), (R2 0.45). The functional ability of mobility was explained in 71% by the variables ?age of the child? and ?daycare attendance? (? 0.72), (? 0.33), (R2 0.71). The ?age of the child? and ?time of breastfeeding? explained 69% of the functional skills: social function with the values (? 0.80), (? 0.17), (R2 0.69). Regarding self-care caregiver assistance, this can be explained in 31% by the variables ?age of the child?, ?daycare attendance? and number of siblings? and their respective values (? 0.46), (? 0.20 ), (? -0.22), (R2 0.31). The assistance of the mobility caregiver was explained in 56% by the factors ?age of the child? and ?daycare attendance? (? 0.62), (? 0.34), (R2 0.56). The assistance of the social function caregiver was explained in 33% by the variables ?age of the child? and home environment (AHEMD-IS) ?(? 0.52), (? 0.24), (R2 0.33). Conclusion: The environmental factors ?daycare frequency? and ?breastfeeding time?, number of siblings, opportunity for stimulation in the home environment, and the personal factor ?age? could explain the caregiver's functional and assisting skills among 6 and 18 months.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Reabilita??o e Desempenho Funcional, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2019. The use of Whole-Body Vibration (WBV), through the use of the vibratory platform, has been widely used as intervention in several areas of rehabilitation in children and adolescents with or without some dysfunction. However, much of the work already developed lacks methodological quality so that it can affirm the benefits of this intervention in this population. Still, there are no studies that demonstrate the cardiorespiratory response to WBV. This work was divided in two studies: 1) a systematic review with meta-analysis aiming to analyze the level of evidence and methodological quality of the studies that used WBV in children and adolescents with disabilities; 2) a randomized crossover study with the aim of investigating whether the WBV is capable of increasing the cardiorespiratory demand to the level of cardiovascular training prescription in healthy adolescents. For the systematic review, the research was made in the databases of AMED, Cinahl, EMBASE, PEDro, SportDiscus. With the terms "randomized controlled trials", "children", "adolescents" and "whole body vibration", from September 2016 and May 2017. The studies were selected by methodological quality (PEDro) and quality of evidence and force of recommendation (GRADE). This study included studies investigating the effects of WBV, alone or combined with other interventions, compared to minimal intervention or other interventions. The outcomes measured were: body structure and function (lean body mass, bone mineral density, knee muscle strength and overall stability) and activity and participation (gait speed, walking distance, gross motor function, self-care and mobility). Also, there was an evaluation of the effects estimated by sensitive analysis of specific health conditions. Fifteen randomized trials involving 403 participants were included. Methodological quality of eligible trials was moderate (mean of 5.5 points on the 10-point PEDro scale). Overall, WBV was no better than minimal intervention. In all comparisons where additional effect of WBV was better than other interventions, the effect size ranged from low to high in the trials, but ranged from very-low to low quality at short and medium term follow-up. Sensitivity analysis for health condition and low-quality studies showed impact on trunk bone mineral density of additional effect of WBV at medium-term compared to other interventions. The low to very-low quality of evidence suggests caution in recommending the use of this approach. New studies could change the findings of this review. In the randomized crossover study, twenty-five adolescents (14.1 ? 1.7 years), 10 girls and 15 boys, underwent to oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) assessments during squatting in two different protocol with and without vibration. The protocol consisted of performing squatting exercises (8 sets of 40 seconds, with 40 seconds of rest between sets) with a frequency of 40 Hz and amplitude of 4 mm or without vibration (same protocol with the platform off), separated by at least 1 day. WBV with squatting resulted in an additional increase of 20% in VO2 and 7.5% in the HR. VO2 was limited to 2.94 metabolic equivalents, and mean HR represented 56% of the predicted maximum HR for age. WBV did not meet the threshold for cardiovascular training prescription in healthy adolescents. As perspective, studies should focus in adolescents with central nervous lesions since we speculate that vibration associated to a given motor task may create an optimal intensity for the prescription of aerobic exercise.
