Human mental well-being, measured by the frequency of experiencing happiness, may be one of the most important factors in supporting learning and stimulating creative thinking, so necessary during robotics and programming classes. Positive emotional states, mental well-being, and a sense of happiness are also closely related to social contacts, the development of which is undoubtedly contributed to by the participation of students in the performing of joint tasks during robotics and programming classes. The article presents the results of research on the relationship between mental well-being, the measure of which is the frequency of experiencing happiness, and the implementation of robotics and programming classes in high school. The study covered 127 high school students in southern Poland. The Happiness Experience Scale (SDS) and a questionnaire were used in the research. On the basis of the obtained research results, it can be concluded that experiencing happiness is related to the development of creativity and social competences among students participating in robotics and programming classes. The issue of robots in education as a part of STEM education was considered. Initial qualitative research was also done on the organization of robotics and programming classes.

During the war, a significant number of Ukrainian universities were tragically destroyed, while others were relocated. The challenging wartime circumstances in which universities operate in Ukraine have increased the use of distance education. University management and academic staff agree that the quality of services offered hinges on the establishment of comprehensive open electronic student campuses. These online campuses will deliver educational content, but also innovative pedagogical technologies for fostering competency development. This can be used for competency development in the use of gamification techniques, promoting entrepreneurship and start-ups, implementing project methodologies, leveraging research and cognitive technologies, as well as using digital tools for communication and collaboration, and employing formative assessment strategies. The objective of the study on which this article reports was to determine the university ecosystem model most amenable for providing high quality digital education. We describe and analyse current digital education ecosystem models and examine their implementation at three universities: (1) Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (BGKU), Ukraine; (2) University of Silesia (US), Poland; and (3) Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (UKF), Slovakia. Both strengths and limitations of online campuses are outlined. Our analysis supports the development of key performance indicators to assess the development of university digital education ecosystems and establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for implementation. Insights gained from organising education in remote learning conditions in wartime Ukraine are valuable also for educators in other countries.

Contemporary education is often based on using e-learning courses, which have become a popular means of delivering didactic material to students. Among the main advantages mentioned is the potential possibility of creating individual ways of learning and teaching. The purpose of this article is to provide a description of the various approaches to adaptive learning, to present the comparative research results of a Polish-Ukrainian study, as well as to highlight the options offered by LMS Moodle (Modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment Learning Management System) for the implementation of adaptive learning and the possibility of taking into account the expectation of students regardless of the country. During the study, an online survey was administered to 59 students at the University of Silesia in Katowice (US), Poland and 121 students at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (BGKU), Ukraine between March-June 2020. All of the students were studying online due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The classes were conducted in synchronous and in asynchronous modes using e-learning courses in the Moodle system, as well as MS Teams for Polish students and Google Suite for Ukrainian students. At the same time, the majority of the surveyed students declared that they lack personalization, both in terms of materials and the learning process, which was limited in terms of fulfilment and they would like to have a choice of the level of study.

The article discusses the components of a cloud-oriented environment for flipped learning in higher education institutions. It presents a methodology that utilizes various services and resources available in the university's cloud-oriented environment. The methodology is divided into three stages: preparatory, basic, and integrated. During the preparatory stage, students collaborate on collective projects within one discipline using Microsoft Teams. The aim is to develop general competencies. At the basic stage, students engage in tasks such as mini-projects, group projects, and individual projects while studying professionally-oriented disciplines. These tasks are performed using the GitHub cloud service. The integrated stage involves working on interdisciplinary projects that draw from multiple disciplines. The tasks for these projects are formed based on the study of several disciplines and utilize the Jira service. The article investigates the effectiveness of this methodology for flipped learning by analyzing its application in the university's cloud-oriented environment.

This study presents the research results obtained after the assessment of the digital competences of the pre-service and in-service teachers after their completion of the MOOC “Contemporary ICT Tools and Innovative Methods of Creative Education”. The paper provides a short description of the MOOC, requirements to pass the course and analysis of the learning outcomes through the students’ self-evaluation and feedback. The MOOC was developed in Polish and English within the project “MOOCs for Sciences of Education” and hosted on the Polish MOOCs platform Navoica (www.navoica.pl) within the framework of the competition, initiated by of Ministry of Education and Science of Poland and National Center for Research and Development (NCBR ‒ Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju) on “Direction to the MOOC”. Keeping in mind that Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have developed into a mainstream for universities, education reformers and startup companies, especially in the time of the COVID-19, the study is believed to contribute to the development of the MOOC pedagogy, and address the question of the MOOCs effectiveness for students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction. The experimental MOOC “Contemporary ICT Tools and Innovative Methods of Creative Education”, which was aimed at enhancing teachers’ digital competences, contained 8 modules, and was attended by more than 90 students through its 1st edition in 2020‒2021. The conclusions of the MOOC in focus and overall recommendations on enhancing the MOOCs effectiveness for formal education and learning outcomes have been evaluated based on the research data and provided accordingly. The selected statistical analyses and the data comparisons were made using Wilcoxon’s test at the significance level alpha = 0.05. The normality of the distributions of the studied variables was checked using the Shapiro Wilk test.

The 11th edition of the International Scientific Conference “Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Distance learning” DLCC2019.

The Silesian Science Festival is an annual event organised by the University of Silesia in Katowice in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology, Medical University of Silesia, the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, and The Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice. At the festival, specialists from almost all scientific/academic fields meet in one place.

This article analyses various aspects of using robotics in education and examines the level of preparation and motivation of children and pupils. The authors carry out a comprehensive review of research and scientific publications regarding technological, didactical, methodological, and human aspects of using robotics in education. The article presents a report on a survey on pupils’ opinion on robotics in education, which was conducted during the third Silesian Science Festival, and discusses the exhibition stand presenting innovative digital technologies and methods in education and business as well as Photon robots.

One of the most important events in Poland in this field is the annual Virtual University Conference: Model, Tools, Practice. The symposium has a rich, 19-yearold tradition. Every year, the conference is alternately organised by Warsaw higher education institutions: Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University of Warsaw, and Warsaw University of Technology.

Research objective. The research objective was to identify and analyse the general trends, manifested in the information behaviour of students in terms of realising and taking advantage of lifelong learning in the digital society. The authors attempted to answer the question: What is the specificity of modern students’ information behaviour strategies? Materials and methods. The research was based on the concept of “information behaviour”, considered by the authors as a system of actions to implement the processes of interaction with the information environment. In the conditions of digital society development, the effectiveness of information strategies largely depends on the adoption of the values of lifelong learning. In the context of the activity approach, information behaviour includes the motivational aspect (acceptance of the lifelong learning paradigm, motives of educational activity, relations, interests and orientations within the current learning stage) and the activity aspect (general learning strategies, approaches to new information acquisition, self-management strategies in the learning process, as well as the possession of modern tools to implement these strategies – ICT tools). The research methods included a survey and statistical analysis. During the survey, Russian and Polish students were asked to relate the degree of information behaviour characteristics to a five-point scale. Statistical analysis comprised descriptive statistics, including the distribution of answers for all respondents, comparative statistics for Polish and Russian students, and correlation analysis.Results of the study. The research results have showed that students understand the importance of lifelong learning and accept it as a value and requirement of the 21st century. However, their information behaviour is not always based on effective strategies. Educational activity is insufficiently supported by the use of ICT tools for self-management, goal setting, and construction of an individual educational route. Direct correlations were revealed between the readiness for lifelong learning and the development of initiative, responsibility, self-management, including the active use of specialised electronic tools. Information behaviour is associated with future professional activities. For example, for socially oriented professions, information behaviour comprises such features as openness and empathy.Conclusion. Based on the results obtained, recommendations for lecturers can be formulated to support the process of mastering the advanced strategies of information behaviour by students. Firstly, it is necessary to encourage students to use open electronic resources, not only to access the newest information, but to join the processes of qualitatively new knowledge creation in collaborate work (self-directed learning, learning in partnership, collaborative learning). Secondly, it is important to create conditions for the expansion of professional experience through the strengthening of the practice-oriented assignments role, as well as the inclusion of students in project, competitive and grant activities.

Purpose: This paper aims to discuss issues related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. It is emphasized that the need to prepare students with twenty-first-century skills through STEM-related teaching is strong, especially at the elementary level. The authors present selected previous experiences, publications, research into the study topic, and review examples of primary school robotics and programming curricula, as well as associated educational activities. The authors stress that workshops, using kits to build and programme robots, are a modern form of interdisciplinary education of children and youth. Design/methodology/approach: The rationale for conducting such activities in schools is found in the European reference framework in the context of training of key competences. Classes in robotics--if properly taught--will have an impact on the development of mathematical literacy and scientific-technical information and social competences. At the same time, competence is understood to mean a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the situation. Besides, an analysis is presented of basic legal regulations in this matter as well as results of a survey, conducted in Poland and Ukraine among in-service teachers and prospective teachers. Findings: The study was carried out with the participation of 91 primary school teachers and future teachers in the province of Silesia and at the University of Silesia in Poland, and in Ukraine, at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. The survey contained 15 questions about the pedagogical research "Robotics and children". The study was carried out to determine the needs of modern education to introduce the basics of robotics in the educational process of primary school. Originality/value: It can be expected that the findings from the prior Polish and Ukrainian surveys can be extrapolated into curricula for secondary schools and vocational education and training (VET) in the coming years.

This article presents issues related to the evolution of media and media competences, a review and analysis of selected historical, technological and educational conditions in the context of the development of digital technologies. A comparison is also made between digital, information and media competences, current development trends and future trends. The differences and requirements between qualified media users and qualified users of information technology are becoming less and less distinct. The 3 generations of Media education - 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 were described. The main purpose of media education in the first phase of development, referred to as media education 1.0, was to develop not only critical thinking skills towards the media and media messages, but also - in a general sense - critical attitude and autonomy. Media 2.0 education can be discussed in connection with the dynamic development of the Internet and information and communication technologies, including social media, at the beginning of the 21st century. In the scientific discourse of recent years, the concept of „algorithmic culture” has appeared, originally defining a set of cultural artefacts that are software products, related to video games, and now describing the phenomenon in which the Big Data logic of large-scale machine learning algorithms change how culture is practiced, processed and understood (Gillespie, 2014). This stage of evolution of Media education could be identified as Media education 3.0. AI and VR and AR can accelerate teaching and learning processes through immersion, collaboration among users, realistic simulations and multi-channel communication. The topic is quite important and current in the context of changes in the education system at various levels and the challenges involved in preparing new programs.
