Abstract

Enclosure mesh manufacturing is growing and expanding around the world. Due to that is employed in a variety of environments. For example, in any urban sports center, the mesh prevents fans from usually fans are not allowed to interacting with athletes. Also are used to enclose domestic animals in rural regions. Furthermore, because of their high ability to offer security and delimit private areas, utilized in a high variety of settings. Therefore, this paper analyzes the operational behavior of the manufacture of enclosure meshes. These are rhombus-shaped and interwoven transversely. It is created by a weaver who takes a galvanized wire and weaves it a rhomboid shape as if he were trying to make a braid with the required dimensions. This research began with the gathering of data in a company in Barranquilla city. With this information, a digital model was created in Arena software, and it was discovered that just 1% of the materials were rejected over the simulation time. As a result, it was determined that the percentages of weaving machine, weaving operator, and winding operator use were 4%, 4%, and 3%, respectively. At the conclusion of this investigation, it was determined that the usage of this simulation tool is quite beneficial for process analysis. additionally, it is suggested to increase sales to improve resource efficiency and invest in marketing to position the brand in the market., La fabricación de mallas para cerramientos está creciendo a nivel mundial. Estas, se utilizan en una gran cantidad de lugares, por ejemplo, en polideportivos, donde previene que los espectadores tengan contacto con los deportistas. En las zonas rurales, se utilizan para encerrar animales domésticos. También se utilizan en muchos otros lugares, debido a su capacidad para brindar seguridad, así como también se utilizan para la delimitación de lugares privados. Por lo tanto, en este estudio se analiza un modelo digital para conocer el comportamiento operativo de la fabricación de mallas de encerramiento. Las mallas, tienen forma de rombo, entrelazados transversalmente. Están son fabricadas con alambre galvanizado por un tejedor, que toma el alambre y le da forma romboidal, como si quisiera hacer una trenza con las dimensiones requeridas. Este estudio inicia recolectando los datos pertinentes en una compañía de la ciudad de Barranquilla. Con esta información se diseñó un modelo digital en el software Arena, donde se observó que, durante el tiempo de simulación, solo el 1% de los materiales fueron rechazados. A su vez, también se observó que los porcentajes de uso de la máquina de tejer, el operador de tejido y el operador de bobinado fueron del 4%; 4%; y 3 % ; respectivamente. Cuando se finalizó el estudio, se llegó a la conclusión que, para analizar los procesos, esta herramienta es muy útil. Se recomienda a la empresa estudiada aumentar las ventas para mejorar la productividad de los recursos e invertir en la promoción o marketing del producto para posicionar su marca en el mercado.

25. Correlation Analysis of Different Measurement Places of Galvanic Skin Response in Test Groups Facing Pleasant and Unpleasant Stimuli

Abstract

The galvanic skin response (GSR; also widely known as electrodermal activity (EDA)) is a signal for stress-related studies. Given the sparsity of studies related to the GSR and the variety of devices, this study was conducted at the Human Health Activity Laboratory (H2AL) with 17 healthy subjects to determine the variability in the detection of changes in the galvanic skin response among a test group with heterogeneous respondents facing pleasant and unpleasant stimuli, correlating the GSR biosignals measured from different body sites. We experimented with the right and left wrist, left fingers, the inner side of the right foot using Shimmer3GSR and Empatica E4 sensors. The results indicated the most promising homogeneous places for measuring the GSR, namely, the left fingers and right foot. The results also suggested that due to a significantly strong correlation among the inner side of the right foot and the left fingers, as well as the moderate correlations with the right and left wrists, the foot may be a suitable place to homogenously measure a GSR signal in a test group. We also discuss some possible causes of weak and negative correlations from anomalies detected in the raw data possibly related to the sensors or the test group, which may be considered to develop robust emotion detection systems based on GRS biosignals., Validerad;2021;Nivå 2;2021-06-21 (alebob), MSCA-RISE REMIND

27. A framework for best organisational practices, from implementation to certification in quality management systems

Abstract

Due to the high competitiveness companies face in occupying positions as world business leaders, they must develop strategies to improve their processes while implementing certification in quality management systems under the ISO 9001 standard. This paper is based on a systematic analysis of the requirements of the standard ISO 9001 and recognised methodologies worldwide in process improvements, such as lean manufacturing, business process reengineering, Lean Six Sigma, and business process management. In which a framework of best organisational practices was designed. Here it was possible to identify some activities of the certification processes that could be improved using this framework when implementing a management system, so that it can be used as a control concept to increase the probability of obtaining processes that promote quality from the implementation of the QMS.

Abstract

Uno de los objetivos dentro del PND (Colombia) y los planes departamentales y distritales (Atlántico, Barranquilla) es desarrollar proyectos que apunten al desarrollo productivo y competitivo de las regiones. Dentro de esta línea de trabajo la consolidación de ciudades logísticas emergentes y de empresas sostenibles. Según la Encuesta Nacional de Logística (ENL, 2018) solo el 69,1 % de las empresas calculan su costo logístico. Del total de empresas que miden su costo logístico, el promedio nacional reportado para este indicador como porcentaje de las ventas llega al 13,5%. El costo logístico está compuesto principalmente por el costo de almacenamiento, con un 46,5 % de participación; y el costo de transporte, con 35,2 %. Estos rubros representan el 81,7 % del costo logístico total. Lo anterior indica que en Colombia, específicamente en Barranquilla no existen estudios previos relacionados con indicadores logísticos asociados a ciudades logísticas emergentes y organizaciones sostenibles. La presente investigación busca proponer soluciones innovadoras y sostenibles para la ciudad y las empresas que están ubicadas en su área metropolitana, haciendo uso de las herramientas de la gestión de operaciones y la inteligencia de negocio. El proyecto propuesto engloba 3 etapas: 1) Construcción del estado del arte y la revisión bibliográfica a través de una investigación documental, haciendo uso de herramientas de visualización científica, 2) Caracterización de los sistemas, procesos, actores de cadena de suministro, portadores energéticos investigados a través de investigaciones descriptivas, correlacionadas y estudios de caso, y 3) Diseño de propuestas y estrategias de mejora a partir del uso de las herramientas de la gestión de operaciones y la inteligencia de negocios.

Abstract

Just-in-time delivery has become a key aspect of pharmaceutical industry when loyalizing customers and competing internationally. Additionally, prolonged lead times may lead to increased work-in-process inventory, penalties for non-compliance and cost overrun. The problem is more complex upon considering a wide variety of products as often noted in pharmaceutical companies. It is then relevant to design strategies focusing on improving the delivery performance. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of Discrete-event simulation (DES) to identify inefficiencies and define solutions for the delivery problem. First, input data were gathered and analyzed. Then, a DES model was developed and validated. Finally, potential improvement scenarios were simulated and analyzed regarding productivity rate and proportion of tardy jobs. A case study in a pharmaceutical laboratory is presented to validate the proposed methodology. The results evidenced that, by implementing the best scenario, the productivity may be augmented by 44.83% which would generate zero tardy jobs. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature
