Truth commissions are official nonjudicial bodies of investigation created to address grave violations of human rights committed under the previous repressive regime or during the past armed conflict. Commissions are created to establish an authoritative record of past violations, to discover its causes and to make reccommendations in order to prevent its reccurence in the future. The thesis focuses on commission's mandates,legal documents that determine its goals, functions, powers and scope of inquiry. The aim of the thesis is to assess the significance of the mandate in the truth-seeking process and to determine if a broad mandate is well suited to achieve goals of the commission or if a narrow mandate is more expedient. The thesis assesses and compares mandates of truth commissions established in Argentina (1983), South Africa (1995), Guatemala (1997) and Kenya (2009).

The thesis deals with the use of articles in German, English and Czech. In the theoretical part the characteristics of German and English article, its varieties and historical development is introduced, and one chapter is dedicated to the existence of potential article in Czech. Further the usage of the articles in German and English is described, primarily with the abstracta. In the practical part ten selected abstracta will be analysed. For the analyses the cases in which there are different articles will be crucial. The occurrence and function of Czech demonstrative and indefinite pronouns that evince certain similarities of an article will be also examined.

This bachelor thesis deals with the visa system of the United States of America. The aim of this thesis is to assess the security feature of contemporary visa system and his effectiveness in the struggle against terrorism and illegal immigration. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic security concepts. It describes contemporary security system of the U.S. and sets the visa system into it. The practical part deals with the role of the visa system in 11/9 terrorist attacks and compare it to the current situation. It also analyses the role of visas in the struggle against illegal immigration with a concentration on the problem of overstays.

This thesis deals with the use of conjunctions bis, bevor and ehe in the present German language. The characterization of them in grammar books and selected textbooks is compared, special attention is given to the difference between anteriority and posteriority and the synonymity between conjunctions bevor and ehe. There are also concerned the problems of translation of these conjunctions into Czech. One part is dedicated to the searching of sentences which are related with the future and in which occur conjunctions bis, bevor and ehe in the sense of anteriority. The subject of the graduation thesis is a success in life seen through the eyes of a social field worker. The theoretical part explains terms such as value and motivation. It brings information obtained from the literature about the values of the contemporary Czech society and contemplates about its development. It also includes a short presentation of the individual results of the specific student works. It tries to use the words to describe success, success in life, to summarize the factors influencing the success in life. Last but not least, it brings closer the social work and the specific facilities of the social services, in which the research occurred. The practical part describes and analyzes opinions, ideas, observations of four employees of a low-threshold social services facility helping people without a shelter, in relation to the success in life. It tries to describe their idea of a success in life, which is seen in connection with a diligence, own initiative, commitment, knowledge and honest work. It brings a perspective of their prevailing life values, motivation and quests for the relationships with the choice of their occupation. Tento článek popisuje tvorbu, nahrávání a předzpracování korpusu českého znakového jazyka. Korpus slouží pro trénování a testování automatických systémů pro rozpoznávání znakového jazyka. Tento korpus UWB-07-SLP-P obsahuje videonahrávky 4 znakujících osob, které jsou nasnímány za 3 pohledů. Dva z nich zachytávají celou osobu, třetí je zaměřena na obličej. Každý znakující provedl 378 znaků, každý pětkrát opakován. Korpus obsahuje celkem 21853 videosouborů v délce 11,1 hodin. Každý znak je předzpracován a jsou dostupné základní příznaky, jako např. trajektorie rukou v 3D prostoru. This paper discusses the design, recording and preprocessing of a Czech sign language corpus. The corpus is intended for training and testing of sign language recognition (SLR) systems. The UWB-07-SLR-P corpus contains video data of 4 signers recorded from 3 different perspectives. Two of the perspectives contain whole body and provide 3D motion data, the third one is focused on signer’s face and provide data for face expression and lip feature extraction. Each signer performed 378 signs with 5 repetitions. The corpus consists of several types of signs: numbers (35 signs), one and two-handed finger alphabet (64), town names (35) and other signs (244). Each sign is stored in a separate AVI file. In total the corpus consists of 21853 video files in total length of 11.1 hours. Additionally each sign is preprocessed and basic features such as 3D hand and head trajectories are available. The corpus is mainly focused on feature extraction and isolated SLR rather than continuous SLR experiments.

We address the question of 3D face recognition and expression understanding under adverse conditions like illumination, pose, and accessories. We therefore conduct a campaign to build a 3D face database including systematic variation of poses, different types of occlusions, and a rich set of expressions. The expressions consist of a judiciously selected subset of Action Units as well as the six basic emotions. The database is designed to enable various research paths from face recognition to facial landmarking and to expression estimation. Preliminary results are presented on the outcome of three different landmarking methods as well as one registration method. As expected, observed non-neutral and non-frontal faces demand new robust algorithms to achieve an acceptable performance.
