In an ecosystem, harvesting infected prey can assist in managing and containing the spread of the illness within the prey species. On the other hand, the harvesting of predators can be beneficial as it regulates their numbers, preventing them from over-consuming prey and subsequently preserving existence of the prey population. This study introduces a predator–prey model that encompasses prey infection, predator–prey interactions influenced by fear, switching and harvesting. We derive an analytic expression for the basic reproduction number, a critical determinant of disease spread. We investigate the global stability of disease-free and endemic equilibria contingent on the basic reproduction number’s value, highlighting the potential for disease eradication by maintaining it below unity. In-depth analysis of the deterministic model is undertaken, with a focus on Hopf bifurcations that delineate thresholds for disease-free and endemic states. Furthermore, the deterministic model is extended to incorporate environmental stochasticity. We obtain the conditions under which population extinction occurs. Our findings elucidate how the intensity of environmental noise influences population dynamics, providing valuable insights into extinction risks under varying noise levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To reduce the pollution from the atmosphere or polluted cities like the capital city Delhi of India, use of artificial rain is a solution. In this paper, we have proposed and analyzed a nonlinear mathematical model to reduce the pollution level by rain making. In the proposed model five variables are considered, namely; (i) number density of water vapor, (ii) number density of cloud drops, (iii) number density of raindrops, (iv) cumulative concentration of aerosols, and (v) concentration of pollutant particles suspended in the region of consideration. The effect of environmental fluctuations has been studied with the help of Lyapunov functionals. The model is analyzed in the presence of white noise and proved that if rain persists, the pollutants can be totally washed out. It has been observed that the environmental disturbances are not much favorable in such experiments as the presence of environmental disturbance may destabilize the system. It is found that to remove pollutants completely, it is necessary to prevent the formation of pollutants. The simulation is performed to support the analytical findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

57Fe Mössbauer Spectroscopy study was carried out on the samples collected from different depth interval of a representative well K-263 of the North Cambay basin (India). The results obtained were compared with the basins already studied. Comparison show that general trend of relative distribution of iron containing minerals as a function of depth for well K-263 is more or less similar to that reported for Eastern Krishna Godavari Basin. Interestingly both these basins have similar hydrocarbon prospecting (hence nature of organic content) also. On the other hand we found that distribution pattern of iron minerals of Cambay basin is markedly different from the basins (viz North Sea and Jaisalmer) having different prospecting and organic properties in comparison to Cambay Basin. So some correlation exists between distribution of iron minerals and prospects of a basin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
