This deliverable reflects and formalizes the events, scientific actions and industrial dissemination planned. In this document, a comprehensive description of the PIXEL’s role in every industrial niche, scientific forum and public exposure in order to maximize both innovation and impact.

This document will report about the integration activities in two versions. It will include test plans (individual, module and integration), the different integration environments (lab, real scenario, real data). It will report of all the pilot integration activities including technical, organizational and operational aspects. Associated task: T7.1, T7.2, T7.3, T7.4, T7.5 and 7.6

This deliverable describes the methodology for PEI computation including the eKPIs to be used, the statistical algorithms as well as a description of the data sources which will be used.

This deliverable’s focus is the identification of significant environmental aspects of port operations and their environmental impacts. Furthermore, this document analyses and discusses existing methods for estimating environmental aspects currently in use. Lastly it identifies the key (environmental) performance indicators (eKPI) related to the most significant environmental aspects needed as inputs for Port Environmental Index (PEI).

U nesigurnoj energetskoj situaciji u kojoj se nalazi Europa, upotreba obnovljivih izvora energije sve više dolazi u središte energetske politike svih država EU. Smanjenjem ovisnosti o fosilnim gorivima povećava se s jedne strane sigurnost energetske opskrbe, a s druge strane poboljšava se energetska učinkovitost tj. efikasnost i racionalno korištenje energije. Upotreba biogoriva u motorima s unutrašnjim izgaranjem, pa tako i na brodskim pogonskim motorima ima poseban ekološki značaj koji se manifestira smanjenjem negativnih učinaka na okoliš. Cilj ovoga rada je sljedeći: (1) identificirati postojeće pokazatelje utjecaja biogoriva u motorima s unutrašnjim izgaranjem na okoliš, (2) pronalaženje optimalnih ekonomskih, tehničkih i ekoloških opravdanosti korištenja biodizela kao pogonskog goriva brodova. Uporaba biogoriva u pomorskom prometu, doprinosi smanjenju ovisnosti pomorskog sektora o fosilnim gorivima, smanjenju udjela emisije stakleničkih plinova iz pomorskog prometa te doprinosi podupiranju održivog razvoja.

The European Commission has adopted a very ambitious Circular Economy Package and has consequently revised many legislative proposals on waste. The new targets include achieving a recycling rate of 65% by 2030 and imposing a cap on landfilled waste to no more than 10% (as a percentage of weight). Using available European and national databases on municipal solid waste (MSW) indicators we have analysed MSW production trends for Croatia and have benchmarked the indicators against other EU member states and EU averages. Our analysis points out that the production of MSW has steadily risen over the last two decades. Although Croatia produces relatively low amount of MSW compared to other EU countries and EU averages, GDP adjusted waste production reveals that for every EUR of GDP Croatia produces substantial amounts of MSW. As a matter of fact, among all the EU member states a worse performance than Croatia had only Bulgaria. Regarding recycling rates, Croatia recycles 15 % of its MSW and treats approx. 3 % (by weight). The rest (82% by weight) is currently being landfilled. To mitigate price volatility in prices of recyclables we advise on implementing rate stabilization funds and banning plastic bags, polystyrene and glass from community recycling programmes. Regarding the treatment of waste, Croatia has implemented the mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) technology but our analysis reveals that the initial number of MBT plants will likely have to be scaled down taking into consideration the new EU waste management targets.
