One of the most common hypotheses on the theory of non-smooth dynamical systems is a regular surface as switching manifold, at which case there is at least well-defined and established Filippov dynamics. However, systems with singular switching manifolds still lack such well-established dynamics, although present in many relevant models of phenomena where multiple switches or multiple abrupt changes occur. At this work, we leverage a methodology that, through blow-ups and singular perturbation, allows the extension of Filippov dynamics to the singular case. Specifically, tridimensional systems whose switching manifold consists of an algebraic manifold with transversal self-intersection are considered. This configuration, known as double discontinuity, represents systems with two switches and whose singular part consists of a straight line, where ordinary Filippov dynamics is not directly applicable. For the general, non-linear case, beyond defining the so-called fundamental dynamics over the singular part, general theorems on its qualitative behavior are provided. For the affine case, however, theorems fully describing the fundamental dynamics are obtained. We analyze the structure of the logical operators from a class of quantum codes that generalizes the surface codes. These are the hypergraph product codes, restricted to the vertical sector. By generalizing an argument of Bravyi and K\"onig, we find that transversal gates for these codes must be restricted to the Clifford group.

International audience; In this paper we present a comprehensive discussion of a new class of inline microwave filters with transmission zeros in the response, namely the path filters. The main features of this filters class are highlighted, and an original (synthesis-based) design approach is presented, relying on the derivation of suitable characteristic polynomials. In addition to the classical Generalized Chebyshev characteristic, two new characteristics are introduced (namely the Bounded Chebyshev and the Reduced Chebyshev), that allow improving the flexibility in the requirements assignment of path filters. A new method for the synthesis of the lowpass prototype is also introduced, that overcome the limitation in the classical synthesis based on the manipulation of the transversal prototype (whose synthesis may fail in case of path filters). Finally, the proposed approach for designing the class of considered filters has been validated by several examples that include the evaluation of the characteristic polynomials, the prototype synthesis and the dimensioning of the physical structures in waveguide technology.

Las universidades del Siglo XXI deben incorporar e impulsar el desarrollo de las competencias transversales en su currículo, a través de una adecuada articulación en la gestión curricular, orientado a la utilización del conocimiento adquirido en el ejercicio profesional. El propósito del estudio fue evaluar la articulación de la gestión curricular universitaria con el desarrollo de competencias transversales en estudiantes universitarios. En tal circunstancia el método se fundamentó en el enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo explicativo, no experimental y transversal, la población estuvo conformado por 16 951 estudiantes de pregrado, donde sus edades en su mayoría son de 19 a 27 años, distribuidos en 33 escuelas profesionales de la provincia del Cusco; la muestra representativa de la población fue de 243 obtenidos a través de un muestreo probabilístico estratificado. Los instrumentos correspondieron al cuestionario de percepción en escala de Likert, ambos instrumentos son confiables. Para la presentación de los resultados se utilizó los baremos con la finalidad de hacer más comprensible el análisis estadístico. Los resultados evidencian un nivel poco adecuado del 53,9% del despliegue de la gestión curricular universitaria, por otra parte, el desarrollo de las competencias transversales alcanza un nivel mejorable del 60,9%, demostrándose la existencia de problemas o dificultades que perjudican la debida articulación entre ambas variables, interpretación corroborada por el estadígrafo H de Kruskal-Wallis con un valor P inferior al margen de error del 5%. En conclusión, la necesidad de lograr una mejor articulación entre la gestión curricular universitaria y las competencias transversales es necesario propiciar una adecuada composición, cohesión, coherencia y proyección de la gestión curricular, considerando en su estructura el desarrollo de las competencias instrumentales, personal y sistémicas del estudiante universitario.

Two compact spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) waveguides are proposed with simple configurations and good performance. Compared with the conventional SSPP structure having same asymptotic frequency, a new design of the tilted-stub structure occupies less transversal space. Moreover, this design can be applied in the SSPP cases with small period values, which will facilitate the longitudinal miniaturization. Then, an improved SSPP structure is constructed to realize the transversal size reduction of 58% compared with the conventional corrugated SSPP waveguide. For these two proposed waveguides, smooth transitions from microstrip lines to SSPPs are designed with seamless connection. Two experimental prototypes have been fabricated, whose measurements are in good agreement with the simulated ones. The proposed designs will have significant potentials for the miniaturization of plasmonic devices and circuits.

El objetivo general del artículo fue analizar las tendencias globales en las que se desenvuelve la agroindustria, así como mostrar algunos instrumentos que se pueden utilizar para medir la sostenibilidad tanto fuerte como débil en aras del desarrollo sostenible como eje trasversal de Agenda 2030 como los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio. La metodología fue de corte cualitativo y el método fue de revisión documental. La conclusión principal, es que la agroindustria a medida que pasa el tiempo tiene mayor relevancia en el desarrollo de las sociedades dado su relación directa con la obtención de calorías por parte de los animales humanos y no humanos. Acotando que las tres tendencias en las que se desenvuelve son la Bioeconomía, la Biotecnología y la Agroindustria 4.0.

Ante unas administraciones públicas que se centran en los datos, el autor se cuestiona en este texto si la profesión está capacitada –o si, al menos, así lo entiende nuestra organización–, para hacernos cargo de los datos de los sistemas de información pública; si realmente poseemos una formación suficientemente cualificada y las herramientas específicas necesarias; y si tenemos el posicionamiento adecuado en las estructuras administrativas para gestionarlos y aplicarlos de forma transversal. Facing of the public administrations that focus on data, the author queries in this text if the profession is qualified ‘or if, at least our organization understands it that way’ to take over the data of the public information systems, if we really have a sufficiently qualified training and the necessary specific tools and if we have the appropriate positioning in the administrative structures to manage and apply them in a transversal way.

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the medical students’ knowledge about perioperative nutritional care. These students are from public and private academic institutions in the state of Bahia, Brazil. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study to analyze medical students based on an online instrument regarding topics related to perioperative care. For data analysis, absolute and relative frequencies were calculated for categorical variables, and mean and standard deviation were calculated for continuous variables. Fisher's Exact Test and G Test were used to analyze the association. Results: 209 responses were obtained. Regarding the learning on nutritional preparation of the patient submitted to a surgery, 25 (64.9%) students of public institutions and 90 (52.3%) students of private ones reported not knowing or not having been exposed to such knowledge. Regarding the importance of addressing topics related to nutritional therapy (NT), 37 (100%) students from public institutions and 168 (97.7%) from private ones recognize the importance of spreading this knowledge. Unnecessary absolute preoperative fasting, shortening techniques of fasting and bronchoaspiration prevention and reintroduction time of a diet in the postoperative period are unknown to most of the population studied. CONCLUSION: Most students included in this study do not have satisfactory knowledge in NT and for preparing the surgical patient.

According to Löwenstein's rule, Al–O–Al bridges are forbidden in the aluminosilicate framework of zeolites. A graph-theoretical interpretation of the rule, based on the concept of independent sets, was proposed earlier. It was shown that one can apply the vector method to the associated periodic net and define a maximal Al/(Al+Si) ratio for any aluminosilicate framework following the rule; this ratio was called the independence ratio of the net. According to this method, the determination of the independence ratio of a periodic net requires finding a subgroup of the translation group of the net for which the quotient graph and a fundamental transversal have the same independence ratio. This article and a companion paper deal with practical issues regarding the calculation of the independence ratio of mainly 2-periodic nets and the determination of site distributions realizing this ratio. The first paper describes a calculation technique based on propositional calculus and introduces a multivariate polynomial, called the independence polynomial. This polynomial can be calculated in an automatic way and provides the list of all maximal independent sets of the graph, hence also the value of its independence ratio. Some properties of this polynomial are discussed; the independence polynomials of some simple graphs, such as short paths or cycles, are determined as examples of calculation techniques. The method is also applied to the determination of the independence ratio of the 2-periodic net dhc.

Seismic design of bridges in some respects is more complex than other structures especially due to, in some cases, the a priori unknown shape of the displacement profile of the structure. Bridges of irregular nature and of a certain length can have transversal horizontal displacement profiles (THDP) of the deck that are very dependent on higher frequency modes. Furthermore, the THDP might change significantly during the earthquake action, due to loss of stiffness of some elements rather than others. This makes most nonlinear static pushover methods inaccurate and introduces difficulties in the seismic design of these structures. In this study, several RC bridges which vary in length and irregularity, are analysed with nonlinear dynamic analysis and optimized via genetic algorithms with performance and cost as objectives in the longitudinal and transversal directions separately. The optimized solutions are analysed in terms of their effective stiffness and compared with each other. The results show correlation between the displacement of the stiffer piers and the overall effective stiffness of the structure. This correlation is closely linked to other parameters such as the relative stiffness index. The results and the parameters allow to identify cases in which the bridges develop “long bridge behaviour” in the THDP of the bridge, and also in which situations the longitudinal and transversal peak displacement of critical piers are similar, which is useful knowledge to optimize seismic design in terms of cost and performance. Practical recommendations for the optimization of the seismic design of irregular bridges are offered.

Most studies in engineering education focus on the effectiveness of the teaching interventions and what transversal competencies engineering students gain from those interventions immediately after they take place. This study explores the effectiveness of an existing game-based learning activity and the competency retention of the participating students one year after its implementation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to nine students who participated in the activity at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. The findings showed that students remembered and benefited from the activity. This exploratory study indicated that this activity is valid to retain students transversal competencies because it provides active learning, engagement, rules, risk-taking, cooperation and competition, and it can be plugged-and-played in any engineering context. This study encourages researchers in the field of engineering education to conduct transversal competency retention studies, which are fundamental to understand how the teaching practices shape students’ competencies in the period after their participation.

When measuring data with hyperspectral cameras drift in the data distribution occurs over time and when the sensing device is changed. Frequently, this drift is characterized by intensity shift or wavelength shifts. In this contribution, we propose novel methods that reverse these shifts and demonstrate their capability to avoid the negative impact of drift on the classification performance. We show that our approaches perform on par or better in comparison to established methods. We also provide a theoretical motivation why one of the proposed methods can deal with both, intensity and wavelength shift provided bounds on the smoothness of the functional data are given.

The topological structure of RDF graphs inherently differs from other types of graphs, like social graphs, due to the pervasive existence of hierarchical relations (TBox), which complement transversal relations (ABox). Graph measures capture such particularities through descriptive statistics. Besides the classical set of measures established in the field of network analysis, such as size and volume of the graph or the type of degree distribution of its vertices, there has been some effort to define measures that capture some of the aforementioned particularities RDF graphs adhere to. However, some of them are redundant, computationally expensive, and not meaningful enough to describe RDF graphs. In particular, it is not clear which of them are efficient metrics to capture specific distinguishing characteristics of datasets in different knowledge domains (e.g., Cross Domain vs. Linguistics). In this work, we address the problem of identifying a minimal set of measures that is efficient, essential (non-redundant), and meaningful. Based on 54 measures and a sample of 280 graphs of nine knowledge domains from the Linked Open Data Cloud, we identify an essential set of 13 measures, having the capacity to describe graphs concisely. These measures have the capacity to present the topological structures and differences of datasets in established knowledge domains.

The interest in understanding how Environmental Education (EE) is present in the Ceara Reference Document (DCRC), is due to the fact that this document is the basis for the construction of Ceara school curriculum. Thus, the goal of this research is: ‘Analyze how EE is present in the DCRC’. For this, the documentary analysis of the DCRC was carried out based on the search for the keywords: ‘EE’ and ‘Environmental’, according to Behrend, Cousin and Galiazzi (2018). It was concluded that in the DCRC there is the presence of EE primarily in the disciplines of Science and Geography and there is a naturalist and conservationist approach of EE in the document, except in the integrative (transversal) themes, which present a critical approach.

The aim of this study was to analyze the association between multimorbidity and fear of falling among hospitalized older adults. This is a quantitative study with an analytical sectional design, conducted with 83 individuals aged 60 years or older, hospitalized for falls in a referral hospital for emergency treatment in Brazil. Data collection took place through the application of a questionnaire containing socioeconomic and health information as well as characteristics of the fall. The logistic regression analysis revealed that older people who reported multimorbidity are 3.16 times more likely to be afraid of falling than older people who did not report multimorbidity, regardless of sex, age, frailty, and the number of falls in the last year. These results could aid in improving hospital approaches in relation to multimorbidity and fear of falling, decreasing preventable hospitalizations due to falls.

Background: The objective of sustainable development in the field of materials necessitates and demands the substitution of the basic constituents of a composite material (carbon, glass, etc.) by natural reinforcements, which have a very important role in the protection of the environment and to subsequently have new materials with good properties compared to socalled traditional materials. Objective: In this context, we have investigated using genetic modeling based on probabilistic models the effect of thermal stress on transversal damage of a bio-composite hybrid Flax- Hemp/PE material. Methods: Our model genetic is based on probabilistic models of Weibull and the different values of the thermal stress were calculated by the Lebrun equation. To validate our theoretical calculations, we used the nonlinear parameter β in the Hoock law of the nonlinear acoustic technique to trace the curves of the damage under the mechanical and thermal stress. Results: The results obtained with a genetic simulation are in good agreement with the results found by Clément Gourier and Raphaël Kueny, who have shown that flax and hemp fibers (bark/Liberian fibers) are good reinforcements of the Polyethylene matrix; we found also found that our hybrid biocomposite material Flax-Hemp/PE is resistant in particular, a part of this material is of plant origin and gives us environmental benefit. Conclusion: It should be noted that the results obtained by the genetic simulation are in good agreement with the results obtained by the nonlinear acoustic technique mentioned by the green curve in all the figures. In perspective, it would be interesting to see, later, the effect of humidity on the damage of the matrix fiber interface of a hybrid biocomposite.

Lightlike hypersurfaces in semi-Riemannian manifolds admitting concircular vector fields are investigated. We prove that such hypersurfaces are generally products of lightlike curves and warped product manifolds. In special cases, we show that these hypersurfaces are totally geodesic or totally screen geodesic provided such concircular fields belong to their normal or transversal bundles. A number of examples are furnished, where possible, to illustrate the main concepts.

Este artículo presenta evidencia con respecto a los factores determinantes y el grado de correlación de las preferencias individuales en ambos dominios: el riesgo y el tiempo, en un contexto de países en vías de desarrollo. A 57-year-old man with severe aortic valve stenosis at high surgical risk underwent transcatheter valve replacement with a 29-mm Edwards Sapien-3 valve (Edwards Lifesciences). The valve was successfully implanted using the right femoral access, but at the end of the deployment the balloon ruptured (Videos 1 and 2) and could not be retrieved from the e-Sheath. The Commander delivery system was then readvanced in the aorta over the wire (Video 3), which was snared and externalized using a 25-mm AndraSnare (Andramed GmbH) inserted through the left femoral artery using a 25-cm-long 22-F Cook sheath (Cook Medical) (Figure 1). Then, the Commander was pushed over the wire, across the aortic bifurcation, making the ruptured balloon get into the Cook sheath (Figure 2). The Commander was then truncated (Figure 3), and the ruptured balloon proximal part attached to the pusher/balloon catheter unit was retrieved through the eSheath (Figure 4). Then, the ruptured balloon distal part attached to the inner balloon shaft was pushed forward such that it could be externalized through the left femoral sheath, cut (Figure 5), and finally pulled back with the wire through the eSheath (Figure 6).

In recent years, more attention has been paid to the performance of algorithm in active noise control (ANC). Compared with filtered-x LMS (FxLMS) algorithm based on stochastic gradient descent, filtered-x RLS (FXRLS) algorithm has faster convergence speed and better tracking performance at the cost of high computational complexity. In order to reduce the computation, fast transversal filter (FTF) algorithm can be used in ANC system. In this paper, simplified multi-channel FXFTF algorithms are presented, and the convergence speed and noise reduction performance of different multichannel algorithms are simulated and compared, and the numerical stability of the algorithms are analyzed.

A domination coloring of a graph G is a proper vertex coloring with an additional condition that each vertex dominates a color class and each color class is dominated by a vertex. The minimum number of colors used in a domination coloring of G is denoted as $$\chi _{dd}(G)$$ and it is called domination chromatic number of G. In this paper, we give a polynomial-time characterization of graphs with domination chromatic number at most 3 and consider the approximability of a node deletion problem called minimum q-domination partization. Given a graph G, in the Minimum q-Domination Partization problem (in short Min-q-Domination-Partization), the objective is to find a vertex set S of minimum size such that $$\chi _{dd}(G[V{\setminus } S]) \le q$$ . For $$q=2$$ , we prove that it is $${\mathsf {APX}}$$ -complete and is best approximable within a factor of 2. For $$q=3$$ , it is approximable within a factor of $$O(\sqrt{\log n})$$ and it is equivalent to minimum odd cycle transversal problem.

En este artículo se sintetizan los resultados de la investigación realizada en la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico de la USAC. Esta inquietud surge porque a pesar de que la Sostenibilidad Ambiental –SA– es un criterio inherente al desempeño del diseñador, es poco abordado como eje Transversal en su formación. A partir, de lo anterior, se expondrán los aspectos relevantes que sirvieron para dar respuesta al objetivo general, orientado a establecer qué lineamientos académicos son pertinentes para que en la Escuela de Diseño Gráfico, se elabore una propuesta en la que se definan las estrategias pedagógicas que permitirían que se aplique la SA de manera trasversal. Asimismo, se plantea que los objetivos específicos sirvieron para, indagar y documentar con docentes del curso de Visual 8 el nivel de implementación de los criterios de SA como requerimiento en los proyectos realizados y si las estrategias pedagógicas empleadas, los evidencian como eje transversal; y si las directrices teórico-prácticas serán guía, para que en la Escuela, construya una propuesta de estrategias pedagógicas que implementen los criterios de la SA como eje transversal de la formación del diseñador. A partir de los resultados obtenidos se genera apertura por parte de la comunidad educativa proporcionando las directrices conceptuales y pragmáticas que se determinaron en el estudio, así los docentes construirán un planteamiento pedagógico que facilite que los criterios de la SA sean eje transversal en la carrera.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar si la lengua de señas influye en la comprensión de la información de estudiantes con discapacidad auditiva. El tipo de investigación fue cuantitativo, no experimental, descriptivo, correlacional causal; el diseño fue transversal. Se utilizó la técnica de la observación y la guía de observación como instrumento, constituida por 20 preguntas por cada variable. Contó con seis objetivos específicos y seis hipótesis específicas que fueron demostradas a través de la prueba de hipótesis con Tau-c de Kendall. Finalmente, se obtuvieron permitieron determinar que la lengua de señas influye significativamente alta en la comprensión de la información de estudiantes con discapacidad auditiva del CEBA Pedro Mercedes Ureña de Trujillo durante el año 2020. This article shows the design and validation of two questionnaires addressed to students and teachers. The aim is to find out their perception about the competencies and learning outcomes for sustainability that students develop through their participation in the international cross-border project of the Bordeaux-Euskampus “Ocean i3: Blue Skills for the Development of the Blue Economy in the Basque-Aquitaine Cross-Border Coast”. The study population consisted of all the participants of the project: 37 students majoring in Biology, Law, Advertising, Business Administration and Management, Pedagogy, Criminology, Nursing, Engineering and Sports Sciences at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the University of Bordeaux (UBx), and 33 undergraduate and postgraduate lecturers from both universities. The article describes the procedure followed for their validity and reliability, and annexes both questionnaires. They may be transferable to other studies that share the same or similar objectives of this study.

We study the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of a one-dimensional two-by-two semiclassical system of coupled Schrodinger operators each of which has a simple well potential. Focusing on the cases where the two underlying classical periodic trajectories cross to each other, we give Bohr–Sommerfeld type quantization rules for the eigenvalues of the system in both tangential and transversal crossing cases. Our main results consist in the eigenvalue splitting which occurs when the two action integrals along the closed trajectories coincide. The splitting is of polynomial order $$h^{{\frac{4}{3}}}$$ in the tangential case and of order $$h^{{\frac{3}{2}}}$$ in the transversal case, and the coefficients of the leading terms reflect the geometry of the crossing.

The recognition that transversal competences are increasingly needed to face the challenges of the ever-changing world has given rise to work examining students’ development of transversal competences (TVCs) during their university time. This approach argues in favor of embedding transversal competences as well as health literacy competence and subject-based competences in curricula. The mini-study presented herein first posits a logical model for the integration of transversal competences in university curricula, supplemented with a qualimetric model comprising 6 factors associated with transversal competences. The resulting tools for transversal competence evaluation and self-assessment were next applied in a pilot questionnaire study of a small group of management students at a local university. Overall, the findings support the claim that students’ TVC development requires a new educational paradigm based on a holistic approach to competence-based learning that involves the harmonious development of a person’s TVCs and subject-based competences. Moreover, the results may serve as a reference for future studies on transversal competences and health literacy in particular, as well as for teachers and researchers in related fields.

Two non-discrete Hausdorff group topologies τ and δ on a group G are called transversal if the least upper bound τ ⋁ δ of τ and δ is the discrete topology. In this paper, we discuss the existence of transversal group topologies on locally pseudocompact, locally precompact, or locally compact groups. We prove that each locally pseudocompact, connected topological group satisfies central subgroup paradigm, which gives an affirmative answer to a problem posed by Dikranjan, Tkachenko, and Yaschenko [Topology Appl., 2006, 153: 3338–3354]. For a compact normal subgroup K of a locally compact totally disconnected group G, if G admits a transversal group topology, then G/K admits a transversal group topology, which gives a partial answer again to a problem posed by Dikranjan, Tkachenko, and Yaschenko in 2006. Moreover, we characterize some classes of locally compact groups that admit transversal group topologies.

Il tema delle competenze logiche richieste per capire la matematica è stato quasi sempre oggetto di controversie sul piano educativo, tra i sostenitori dell’insegnamento della logica come disciplina e quelli che la guardano come una competenza trasversale. Il problema viene spesso sollevato nel corso della scuola secondaria di secondo grado e all’inizio dei corsi universitari. In questo contributo si discutono i processi di interpretazione dei testi matematici in linguaggio verbale, e il potenziale conflitto tra i meccanismi interpretativi propri delle notazioni simboliche della matematica e quelli usuali delle lingue. Viene affrontato in particolare il tema dell’interpretazione dei condizionali, anche attraverso l’esame di due teorie opposte. Matroid theory is a useful tool for the combinatorial optimization issue in data mining, machine learning and knowledge discovery. Recently, combining matroid theory with rough sets is becoming interesting. In this paper, rough set approaches are used to investigate an important class of matroids, transversal matroids. We first extend the concept of upper approximation number functions in rough set theory and propose the notion of generalized upper approximation number functions on a set system. By means of the new notion, we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for a subset to be a partial transversal of a set system. Furthermore, we obtain a new description of a transversal matroid by the generalized upper approximation number function. We show that a transversal matroid can be induced by the generalized upper approximation number function which can be decomposed into the sum of some elementary generalized upper approximation number functions. Conversely, we also prove that a generalized upper approximation number function can induce a transversal matroid. Finally, we apply the generalized upper approximation number function to study the relationship among transversal matroids.

Let $$G=(V,E)$$ be a graph. A complete subgraph of G is a subgraph of pairwise adjacent vertices of V of size at least 2. Let $$\Phi _C(G)$$ be the set of all complete subgraphs of G and $$\Phi \subseteq {\Phi }_C(G)$$ . In this paper, we consider the Complete-Subgraph-Transversal-Set on $$\Phi $$ problem and the L-Max Complete-Subgraph-Transversal-Set on $$\Phi $$ problem. We give polynomial time algorithms to these two problems on graphs of bounded treewidth. At last, we show the connections between these two problems with some other NP-complete problems, for example Clique-Transversal-Set problem on graphs and Vertex-Cover problem on hypergraphs.

Generalised bi-path stepped-impedance-line signal-interference bandpass and lowpass transversal filtering sections (TFSs) with increased stopband bandwidth above the main transmission band are presented. They are realised by partitioning the two in-parallel transmission-line paths in their related classic spectrally periodic TFS approach into a plurality of line sub-segments, whose characteristic-impedance and electrical-length values are derived through optimisation. It is demonstrated that the stopband range above the transmission band in these generalised non-frequency-periodic TFSs can be remarkably broadened with regard to those intrinsic to their conventional bandpass and lowpass TFS counterparts. Furthermore, as added benefits, this is achieved for shorter transmission-line paths and a sharper cut-off slope between the transmission band and the extended stopband. For experimental-validation purposes, three proof-of-concept microstrip prototypes are manufactured and characterised. In this paper we introduce the definition of the (k, l)-universal transversal property for permutation groups, which is a refinement of the definition of k-universal transversal property, which in turn is a refine- ment of the classical definition of k-homogeneity for permutation groups. In particular, a group possesses the (2, n)-universal transversal property if and only if it is primitive; it possesses the (2, 2)-universal transversal property if and only if it is 2-homogeneous. Up to a few undecided cases, we give a classification of groups satisfying the (k, l)-universal transversal property, for k ≥ 3. Then we apply this result for studying regular semigroups of partial transformations. PurposeThis study aims to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge about teaching and promoting social entrepreneurship in higher education institutions (HEIs) based on a measurement before and after concluding an educational experience.Design/methodology/approachIt tests hypotheses to draw conclusions from analyzing the pre- and post-test results of three study cases with different training experiences, to know the characteristics of the 304 participants.FindingsThe study indicated that incorporating transversal social entrepreneurship projects in various courses resulted in students feeling more capable regarding their social entrepreneurship potential.Originality/valueThe study presents the analysis of social entrepreneur training in three different curricular study cases. The information obtained adds value to social entrepreneurship education research that takes social entrepreneurship beyond business schools.

This article examines the longform reportage on the Internet focusing on Portuguese and Brazilian landscape. The thesis under discussion advocates that the reportage is in its Fourth Wave of development, thanks to the Internet introduction in the newsrooms, in a transversal process to different Western countries. The empirical research mobilizes quantitative methods based on content analysis of 151 reportages (57 from Portugal, 94 from Brazil) created between 2012 and 2016. Results show that the reportage preserves the founding principles of the genre and articulates the potential of web journalism, but not all resources have the same modular force in the narrative.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the level of accessibility for wheelchair users at gyms in the South Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. A descriptive and transversal field research was carried out. For data collection, the Vidor Scale was applied. Twenty gyms were analyzed, through the employees to answer the questionnaire questions. With the data collected it was possible to conclude that all the researched academies did not present the necessary accessibility for wheelchair users. PurposeThe author considers an invariant lightlike submanifold M, whose transversal bundle tr(TM) is flat, in an indefinite Sasakian manifold M¯(c) of constant φ¯-sectional curvature c. Under some geometric conditions, the author demonstrates that c=1, that is, M¯ is a space of constant curvature 1. Moreover, M and any leaf M′ of its screen distribution S(TM) are, also, spaces of constant curvature 1.Design/methodology/approachThe author has employed the techniques developed by K. L. Bejancu of reference number 7.FindingsThe author has discovered that any totally umbilic invariant ligtlike submanifold, whose transversal bundle is flat, in an indefinite Sasakian space form is, in fact, a space of constant curvature 1 (see Theorem 4.4).Originality/valueTo the best of the author’s findings, at the time of submission of this paper, the results reported are new and interesting as far as lightlike geometry is concerned.

This letter presents a method to convert the split dual-beam into a single one in the quasi-E-plane with low cross-polarization level for the pin-loaded fundamental EH0-mode microstrip leaky-wave antennas (MLWAs). By exciting a pair of them under differential operation with proper configuration, the ϕ -polarized dual beams can be reshaped to achieve a single-beam radiation, so as to widen its potential application. The proposed method for transversal single beam still preserves the merits of the original pin-loaded EH0-mode MLWA with simple structure and freely designed narrow width. A prototype MLWA with single-beam radiation in the quasi-E-plane is designed, fabricated, and measured. Good agreement is attained between simulated and measured results, and thus validates the unique feature of the proposed method in design of single-beam pin-loaded EH0-mode MLWAs.

In this letter, we present an innovative filter configuration employing transversal coupled triple-mode spherical resonators while capable of realizing transmission zeros (TZs). Transversal coupling involves simultaneous source and load-controlled couplings to all the three modes of the spherical resonator. Spherical resonators inherently have very large quality factor (Qu) and exhibit a farther spurious response thus yielding bandpass filters (BPFs) with lower insertion loss and wider spurious-free window. The design methodology for transversal coupling is explained and is employed for designing a third-order bandpass filter with TZs. In addition, a sixth-order bandpass filter using cascaded trisection is also presented. A third-order BPF with symmetric TZs is fabricated for verifying proof of the concept. The filter designed at 6.545 GHz with a bandwidth of 120 MHz has an insertion loss better than 0.1 dB and a spurious-free window better than 1.7 GHz. The proposed filter promises to be useful in aerospace applications that demand high Qu, low volume, and wider spurious-free window.

Let X be a CR manifold with transversal, proper CR action of a Lie group G. We show that the quotient X/G is a complex space such that the quotient map is a CR map. Moreover the quotient is universal, i.e. every invariant CR map into a complex manifold factorizes uniquely over a holomorphic map on X/G. We then use this result and complex geometry to prove an embedding theorem for (non-compact) strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds with transversal $$G \rtimes S^1$$ G ⋊ S 1 -action. The methods of the proof are applied to obtain a projective embedding theorem for compact CR manifolds.

PURPOSE: Young adults with transversal upper limb reduction deficiency experience limitations regarding education, employment and obtaining a driver's license. Contribution of rehabilitation care within these domains has been reported to be inadequate. This study evaluates the needs and suggestions of participants in rehabilitation care.METHODS: Two online focus groups with young adults and parents met during 4 consecutive days. Health care professionals joined a face-to-face focus group. Data analysis was based on framework analysis.RESULTS: The rehabilitation team was mainly consulted for problems with residual limb or for prostheses. Young adults and their parents were mostly unaware of resources regarding education, job selection or obtaining a driver's license. Professionals stated that these subjects were addressed during periodic appointments. Young adults didn't always attend these appointments due to limited perceived benefit. To improve rehabilitation care, participants suggested methods for providing relevant information, facilitating peer contact and offering dedicated training programs to practice work-related tasks, prepare for job interviews or enhance self-confidence.CONCLUSION: Periodic appointments do not fulfil needs of young adults with transversal upper limb reduction deficiency. To improve care, rehabilitation teams should offer age-relevant information, share peer stories, and create dedicated training programs.

La educación sexual, un medio importante para la formación de los jóvenes estudiantes que debe ser pertinente para sus experiencias sexuales de forma consciente, responsable y segura. El artículo presenta un estado del arte sobre la producción científica en materia de educación sexual en estudiantes universitarios en los últimos cinco años. El diseño de la investigación fue descriptivo y cuantitativo de una muestra de 90 artículos seleccionados que se enfocaron a la educación sexual en general o a dimensiones específicas de la sexualidad y el conocimiento que los estudiantes universitarios tienen de estas. Los resultados muestran que las publicaciones científicas se han orientado hacia investigaciones transversales basadas en la confirmación de hipótesis, por lo que se recomienda abrir futuras líneas de investigación proyectiva para el diseño e implementación de proyectos enfocados a la educación sexual universitaria.

The article presents a brief overview of digital risks, since their management is an integral part of business management. Digital transformation opens up incredible opportunities for both organizational growth and value creation. However, none of these opportunities can be realized without taking into account the associated risks. An increasing number of organizations are becoming vulnerable to certain types of digital threats. Risk management is critical to the sustainability of an organizations, and understanding risk areas is critical to identifying and eliminating all the risks that an organization may be exposed to in a digital environment. For effective management of digital risks, the authors highlight those their areas that seem to be the most significant.The paper emphasizes three approaches to mitigating digital risks: tactical, operational and strategic. When studying the main areas of the emergence of digital risks in an organization, the authors concluded that it is necessary to develop a universal approach to creating an effective risk management mechanism in the digital environment. Within this approach, the article formulated the main stages of digital risk management.As an effective toolkit in managing digital risks of an organization, the paper proposes to use a transversal approach, that is, the organization of such connections, interaction and cooperation between individual employees and divisions of the organization, which allow you to effectively implement processes associated with risk identification, their analysis, and decision-making aimed at minimization of possible negative consequences of already occurred risk events. At the same time, effective management of digital transformations to ensure cross-functional synergy presupposes the elimination of risks arising from interdependent processes. The study also proposes to develop a digital risk management strategy based on a transversal approach in integration with the digitalization strategy already being implemented in the organization. This approach will allow the organization to feel more confident in the future when implementing and using innovative technologies to solve the problems it faces.
