Abstract

Wireless sensor networks consist of a large number of distributed sensor nodes so that potential risks are becoming more and more unpredictable. The new entrants pose the potential risks when they move into the secure zone. To build a door wall that provides safe and secured for the system, many recent research works applied the initial authentication process. However, the majority of the previous articles only focused on the Central Authority (CA) since this leads to an increase in the computation cost and energy consumption for the specific cases on the Internet of Things (IoT). Hence, in this article, we will lessen the importance of these third parties through proposing an enhanced authentication mechanism that includes key management and evaluation based on the past interactions to assist the objects joining a secured area without any nearby CA. We refer to a mobility dataset from CRAWDAD collected at the University Politehnica of Bucharest and rebuild into a new random dataset larger than the old one. The new one is an input for a simulated authenticating algorithm to observe the communication cost and resource usage of devices. Our proposal helps the authenticating flexible, being strict with unknown devices into the secured zone. The threshold of maximum friends can modify based on the optimization of the symmetric-key algorithm to diminish communication costs (our experimental results compare to previous schemes less than 2000 bits) and raise flexibility in resource-constrained environments., Comment: 27 pages

Abstract

Brain extraction (skull stripping) is a challenging problem in neuroimaging. It is due to the variability in conditions from data acquisition or abnormalities in images, making brain morphology and intensity characteristics changeable and complicated. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for skull stripping in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans, namely ASMCNN, by combining the Active Shape Model (ASM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for taking full of their advantages to achieve remarkable results. Instead of working with 3D structures, we process 2D image sequences in the sagittal plane. First, we divide images into different groups such that, in each group, shapes and structures of brain boundaries have similar appearances. Second, a modified version of ASM is used to detect brain boundaries by utilizing prior knowledge of each group. Finally, CNN and post-processing methods, including Conditional Random Field (CRF), Gaussian processes, and several special rules are applied to refine the segmentation contours. Experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms by a significant margin in all experiments., Comment: 47 pages, 20 figures

Abstract

The necessity for multiple injections and cold‐chain storage has contributed to suboptimal vaccine utilization, especially in pandemic situations. Thermally‐stable and single‐administration vaccines hold a great potential to revolutionize the global immunization process. Here, a new approach to thermally stabilize protein‐based antigens is presented and a new high‐throughput antigen‐loading process is devised to create a single‐administration, pulsatile‐release microneedle (MN) patch which can deliver a recombinant SARS‐CoV‐2 S1‐RBD protein—a model for the COVID‐19 vaccine. Nearly 100% of the protein antigen could be stabilized at temperatures up to 100 °C for at least 1 h and at an average human body temperature (37 °C) for up to 4 months. Arrays of the stabilized S1‐RBD formulations can be loaded into the MN shells via a single‐alignment assembly step. The fabricated MNs are administered at a single time into the skin of rats and induce antibody response which could neutralize authentic SARS‐CoV‐2 viruses, providing similar immunogenic effect to that induced by multiple bolus injections of the same antigen stored in conventional cold‐chain conditions. The MN system presented herein could offer the key solution to global immunization campaigns by avoiding low patient compliance, the requirement for cold‐chain storage, and the need for multiple booster injections. Abstract

HIV-1 integrase (IN) is one of three enzymes encoded by the HIV genome and is essential for viral replication, and HIV-1 IN inhibitors have emerged as a new promising class of therapeutics. Recently, we reported the synthesis of orally bioavailable azaindole hydroxamic acids that were potent inhibitors of the HIV-1 IN enzyme. Here we disclose the design and synthesis of novel tricyclic N-hydroxy-dihydronaphthyridinones as potent, orally bioavailable HIV-1 integrase inhibitors displaying excellent ligand and lipophilic efficiencies.

In the U.S., SegaNet will have 900 local numbers and eight server hubs. An estimated 13.5 mil households play video games online, mostly on a PC. Sony, Ninetendo, and Microsoft all plan new entries into the game console market this fall and next year. Sega hopes to quickly win new subscribers to SegaNet in the next few months.
