Publikaci ocení studenti oborů mediální studia, žurnalistika, sociologie, politologie a dalších sociálních věd i odborná veřejnost (pracovníci médií, mediálních agentur, reklamních a PR agentur). PhDr. Tomáš Trampota, Ph.D., je vědeckým pracovníkem Centra mediálních studí FSV UK, přednáší zde analýzu mediálních obsahů a sociologii zpravodajství, analýzu médií pak na VOŠP. fluktuace zaměstnanců - média - interview - novináři - pracovní prostředí ,employee turnover - media - interview - journalists - working environment - Abstract
The fundamental theme of this Master's Degree Thesis is Media Staff Fluctuation in the Czech Republic. The qualitative research, specifically that of individual semi-structured interviews with the journalists, was dominantly used for the processing. The interviews were aimed at the identification of the phenomena which have been complicating their professional performance and making it unpleasant. The respondents were asked directly as well as indirectly about the motivations which had led them to changing their occupation or have had such potential. Organization elements of media institutions are also taken into account, mainly the career code and the way of shift planning. The thesis deals with side-effects of media work such as excessive timeload, stress, haste, competition manifestations, the pressure from the side of advertisers etc. It pays attention to the impacts on freedom of expression and the veracity of published communiqués which may be caused by the unsuitably created conditions. It also includes a look at purely personal level, among others at family and partnership life, or as the case may be, at a possibility of satisfactorily spent leisure time. The recognized causes of employee turnover were classified, described, further categorized on the basis of an analysis of the interviews...

The intention of my thesis is to analyze "the image of Jana Nagyova on media scandal "Abuse of Military Intelligence"in the period of June 12st 2013 to December 31th 2013. It is dependent on every single phase of that case and incorporating the large social effects as well. I focused on the semantic forms of the headlines printed by daily Blesk, Mlada fronta Dnes and Pravo. In this research, I decided to use a quantitative analysis and the qualitive analysis as well. Both of them based on the answering of the basic hypothesis. This hypothesis is called: how was the media presenting Jana N. before getting the verdict in this cause? To be more specific: if that all these headlines could prepare to affect the reader's perception of Jana N. including her judgment in the moral, the social or in criminal law. I also tried to analyze if it could be possible to find the basic differences between the newspapers as it is so-called and the investigative journalism in general. My thesis is divided into three main parts. The first one is based on the theory and it contains a description of that cause and a short theoretical excursion. The second part contains a description of the research methodology following the essence of that analysis. It continues by presenting the analysis and its results like the third...

For this analysis we chose five events for which we sought content mentioning the ACR or the department of defense. This thesis analyzes how the media system and the role of the media in society have changed over time in Portugal. It focuses on the period of the dictatorship Estado Novo, the period of the media transition after the Carnation Revolution, and the media in the 21st century. Since the media transition would not be possible without the political transition of the authoritarian regime, this thesis will also address the overall context of the transition. The theoretical part analyzes the Mediterranean or polarized pluralist model of media from Halllin and Mancini. According to the authors, this model describes the current Portuguese media system. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether the model is applicable to all periods of Portuguese history of the 20 and 21st century or whether at some point the media system can be described by another Hallin and Mancini's model or whether it is necessary to use a different classification from other authors.

This paper focuses on three new Czech media projects founded in 2014: news web Echo24.cz, a monthly Reporter magazin and a video portal DVTV. More specifically, it describes their creation, which took place as a consequence of the changes in the media market in the Czech Republic in the years 2013-2014. These were mainly changes in ownership structure as Andrej Babis acquired the publishing house Mafra and changes brought about by the crisis of the Czech Television channel. This paper maps out the establishment of new media projects and their positioning in an already competitive environment by observing the communication strategy of these projects. On the basis of predefined criteria it analyses the initial launch campaigns, the means used for marketing and the communication with the public during the first year after the projects were launched. This analysis is complemented by interviews with the authors of the projects: Dalibor Balsinek (Echo24.cz), Robert Casensky (Reporter magazin) and Jan Rozkosny (DVTV). On the basis of this analysis a comparison of the projects and their communication strategies is carried out. The obtained results can be useful in further research of the evolution of these media projects.

There are many works focusing on stereotypes usually connected with minorities including gays in news and media in general. However, there is no study that would describe the common features of gay media products, especially characteristics of gay magazines. This work analyzes in both qualitative and quantitative way two life style magazines targeted at homosexuals - Czech LUI and British Attitude. First, on their bases the advertisements included are described - of gay and non-gay brands. Further the topics and themes used are pointed out - those that appear at the pages the most often, then the other ones that you can find rather rarely. A query among gay people is added as it proposes another point of view for the result of the analyses. This work also answers to the questing how sexual signs and connections are used in gay magazines and what is the amount of articles that have any sexual signs. The results of this study can be used for further gender media works or as the purpose or building a new Czech gay magazine.

The thesis "Analysis of the Czech Periodicals' News Coverage of the 2013 Presidential Elections in the Czech Republic" examines how the daily newspapers Mladá fronta DNES, Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny framed the election campaign. The thesis examines media interpretation of the Greek financial crisis in selected Czech media. It analyzes framing of this issue in Czech daily newspapers MF DNES, Právo, Hospodářské noviny and Lidové noviny in period of the first five months of 2010 (1.1 - 28.5.2010). This rigorous thesis develops and widens the author's diploma thesis, which was defended, under the title "Analysis of visual communication. The case of contemporary theatre posters" at the Faculty of Social Sciences in June 2014, with excellent assessment. The previous aim of the diploma thesis was to describe and define basic principles of visual communication from the point of view of mass communication theory and classical media theory and to attempt to create a basic synthesis of these branches. The rigorous thesis elaborates the outputs of the research further, and analyzes them in relation to social and communication networks. The visual communication is currently dominating form of communication not only in advertising and marketing, but also from the point of purely artistic expressing, which nowadays abandons classical conservative techniques and searches for new ways of expressions. The previous focus of the diploma thesis on European theatre poster, which is a factual synthesis of those trends, allowed an adequately assessment the relevance of media theory in relation to visual communication as a way of addressing recipients with the information given in a form of an image. The topic of European poster has been chosen to widely demonstrate the general acceptance of visual communication...

The thesis "Framing of the conflict in the Middle East in Czech Daily Newspapers" explores how Czech print media report on the conflict in the Middle East through the analysis of Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo news coverage of the Second Lebanon War (2006) and the Gaza war (2008- 2009). The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the role of the media in times of war and focuses mainly on the popular even though somewhat fragmented concept of media framing, which became the basis for the analysis of the above mentioned newspapers. The research draws on the extensive literature on media framing as well as foreign research on framing of the Arab- Israeli conflict, combining quantitative and qualitative analytical tools. The aim of the quantitative part of the analysis was to obtain hitherto missing data about the framing of the conflict in the Middle East by Czech media that could be compared to similar data that are already available for foreign media. Quantitative analysis also focused on news sources and topics used while referring about the Middle East conflict. The purpose of the qualitative analysis was to gain a deeper insight into the problem and generate a list of specific frames used to interpret the conflict in the Middle East by Czech print media.

The atmosphere of the election campaign before the elections in October 2012 was not such fierce as during the last campaign. It was mainly due to absence of a major topic that would polarise the society, like the health fees in 2008. The ČSSD tried to find a similar controversial topic that might have been the church restitutions for a moment. The purpose of the negative campaign was to discourage people from voting the governmental parties ODS and TOP 09, but it also could weaken the KDU-ČSL that was and still is closely connected with churches, especially the catholic church. The representatives of the KDU-ČSL themselves didn't publish any opinions concerning this matter, with only few exceptions. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse and evaluate the media output of the KDU-ČSL during the election campaign that was run before the elections to the regional governments and the Senate. In the first part, the main leaders of the KDU-ČSL are introduced, following by a detailed description of the campaigns in the respective regions and the senate circuits. The next part is devoted to a quantitative content analysis that examines the influence of the election forecasting models presented in the media on the decision of the voters, or the outcomes of the KDU-ČSL. The master thesis describes the development of Czech Television and Czech Radio be- tween 2005 and 2012, focusing on media policy, technology, content and attitude to the audience. It applies research output of the RIPE initiative as a theoretical basis for col- lection and interpretation of the data. RIPE, which links academia with media profes- sionals worldwide, aiming to redefine the public service remit for the 21st century, sug- gests that the political, economic, technological and social context has fundamentally changed in the last two or three decades. As a result, the original concept of public ser- vice broadcasting, established in Western Europe after the Second World War, has lost its legitimacy. It is therefore necessary for public service broadcasters (PSB) to trans- form into public service media (PSM). This means diversifying modes of distribution to new technologies besides traditional broadcasting, setting mechanisms of two-way and interactive communication with the audience, producing multimedia content exploitable on various platforms and clearly defining and justifying the value added of their offer- ings compared to those of commercial competitors. Using the method of case study, the thesis matches this conceptual framework with the situation in Czech Television and Czech...

The topic of the thesis is the comparison of photographs in year-books of magazine Týden and year-books of Lidové noviny newspaper from the point of view of the News values, as set by Johan Galtung and Mari Ruge and their successors, and also with respect to other qualities and values which are crucial in the process of selection of news photographs. The year-books of chosen media are the summaries of their production of given year, they are the selection of events which are considered the most important of that year. From the visual point of view, the year-books have much more space devoted to photography than their standard issues. The number of photographs and their size are therefore much higher. The thesis compares two pairs of year-books with a nine-year interval between them. This makes us compare the shifts and changes of their qualities in time, using a quantitative analysis research. The important part of the thesis is devoted to the routines of editorial staff, who are responsible for the selection of photographs. To explain this part, we used interviews with photo-editors or image editors. In these interviews we put emphasis on the very fundaments of editors work, the factors and circumstances which limit and affect his work and we also identified the values or qualities of photographs which are...
