Commuter trains are a popular mode of transportation among lowincome earners in Ghana. However, due to the economic turmoil of the 1970s, the government struggled to invest in and manage this travel option effectively. With the increasing trend towards mass commuter services worldwide, this study aimed to examine how commuters perceive the quality of railway services in Ghana, using the Accra-Nsawam corridor as a case study. The study involved an on-board survey of 430 passengers using questionnaires. The results showed that factors such as speed, punctuality, safety, comfort, and improved customer care were significant predictors of commuters' preference for commuter services. However, variables such as advanced technology and ticketing systems were found to be less important. This study aims to determine the service level of the Surabaya - Sidoarjo commuter train which is part of the transportation service in the Gerbang Kertasusila area. Surabaya is the second-largest city in Indonesia as the center of regional government for East Java and is the center of activity for all sectors in the region. The high population density and the high value of land in Surabaya have resulted in people choosing to live in Gerbang Kertasusila areas, namely Gresik, Bangkalan, Kertosono, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Lamongan (Gerbang Kertasusila). This resulted in the high movement of commuters from the buffer area for activities in downtown Surabaya. In this study, the analysis was carried out regarding the Minister of Transportation Regulation number 63 the year 2019 concerning Minimum Service Standards for Passenger Train Transportation. The research methodology used is Importance Performance Analysis by distributing questionnaires to commuter train users across Surabaya - Sidoarjo to find out people's opinions about train transportation services operated by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia. The results of the study can identify the level of service at the station and on the train, both those that are a priority to be improved and those that must be maintained.

The rapid development of the high-speed rail (HSR) network in China has compressed intercity rail travel times. However, what is contentious is whether the expansion of HSR network has created a landscape of uneven accessibility, i.e. producing winners and losers regarding cities' changing ability to access to the others. This paper uses the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) – one of the most populous and developed mega-regions with the high dense HSR network in China – as a case study to examine accessibility restructuring and major geographical features of winners and losers through a longitudinal comparison before and after the development of the HSR network. Analytical results show that the introduction of the HSR service network has exacerbated the uneven pattern of network accessibility formed by the conventional rail (CR) network. Aside from increased train speeds, intercity travel makes time savings thanks to significant rail distance deductions in the change from CR to HSR services because HSR needs a straighter trajectory, which is usually ignored in the literature. 'Winner' cities are either privileged substantially by a much higher quality of HSR service or a much shorter network rail distance. HSR cities can also lose out due to a large increase in network rail distance and a low quality of HSR service. Except for a few CR cities which neighbor HSR stations, thus winning an above average change, most CR cities are disadvantaged as a result of HSR network development.
