Abstract Making arrangements by learning how intensive care patients feel due to a disease called as fatal worldwide can make it easier for patients to cope with the disease. For this reason, it is important for healthcare professionals to understand the patients who have been infected and discharged during the COVID-19 pandemic. The experiences of the patients may affect the perspective of the disease and cause different changes in the perception of it. This study, which was conducted based on this idea, aimed to examine the intensive care experiences of patients discharged from the COVID-19 intensive care unit. This study used a phenomenological qualitative approach. A semi-structured interview form was used to interview 23 patients discharged from the COVID-19 intensive care unit. The findings were reported on the basis of consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research. In line with the data obtained from the interviews, five main themes and eight subthemes were created. The main themes were classified as emotional expressions (positive/negative) related to intensive care experience, coping methods, analogies (for COVID-19 and nurses) and attitudes towards the care provided (respiration, nutrition, excretion and privacy, sleep, communication). In this study, the participants experienced negative emotions such as fear of death/anxiety, sadness, loneliness, and helplessness during their intensive care experiences. Most of them stated that they tried to cope with prayer and communication. The participants compared COVID-19with deadly and respiratory-inhibiting tools and diseases. They expressed difficulties in breathing, nutrition, excretion and privacy, sleep and communication related to the care provided. In this process, they made positive analogies for the nurses who spent the most time with them, such as angels and family members.

Harlequin ichthyosis is the severest form of non-bullous ichthyosis, which is quite uncommon in newborns, and is usually characterized by fatal extreme keratinization of the skin. Because of the facial appearance of newborn, which resembles clown, the disease is called as harlequin -one of the comic characters of Italian street theatre. The present case report concerning a newborn with harlequin ichthyosis, which is an uncommon condition requiring intensive care, aimed to guide the care process by discussing the experiences over the nursing care period. Within the scope of nursing process, the data were collected, the diagnoses were identified, interventions were planned and implemented, and the outcomes of these implementations were evaluated. The nursing diagnoses were made based on the diagnosis list established by the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association. Nursing process was performed within the scope of the activities of daily living. Life expectancy of the patient, who was expected to die within a few days after birth, was extended by efficient and preventive nursing care, but these implementations have not been sufficient to prolong survival. Specific to this case, we can say that death could be postponed by nursing care. Palliative and preventive care is recommended when harlequin ichthyosis is encountered.

The aim of this study is to determine the problems faced by individuals living with cancer (ILCs) in accessing health services during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. This qualitative study’s sample consisted of 18 volunteer interviewees from 10 cancer-related patient associations in Turkey. Research data were collected by semi-structured interview method. Data collection and analysis were carried out simultaneously. In the sessions where all researchers participated together, the data were coded with a common view, and main and sub-themes were determined. In the analysis of the data the inductive thematic analysis method was applied. Information was gathered under two main themes: compliance with the measures taken and access to health services. Lack of information about nutrition, physical activity, psychological problems, caused by the lockdown and social distance measures taken within the scope of the pandemic should be accepted as problems within the scope of the right of individuals to access health, and additional programs should be prepared to minimize these. Cancer types should be considered in delaying diagnosis, treatment, and controls related to cancer, so that patients are not harmed at least or at all. It is important to ensure that patients do not hesitate to attend diagnosis, treatment, and controls with the anxiety of being infected with COVID-19, both in transportation to health facilities and in terms of preventing transmission in health facilities. © 2022, Universidad de Chile - Centro Interdisciplinario de Estudios en Bioetica. Introduction: Medical malpractice can be defined as health workers neglecting the expected standard or intentionally not implementing it, doing it wrong and/or incomplete, not being able to implement the accurate practice due to personal or systemic reasons despite desiring to do it correctly and the condition that causes permanent or temporary damage to the patient as a result. If the training periods in which health workers improve their knowledge and skills are passed efficiently, they are expected to have a low rate of error in their professional lives. Aim: Aim of the study is to determine the medical malpractice tendencies of students studying in nursing department. Material and Methods: This descriptive research has been performed with 454 students who study in 3rd and 4th years in the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences in a state university in normal and evening education and go out for clinical practice during the 2017-2018 academic year. The sample consisted of 454 students who agreed to participate in the study. Ethics committee approval, the permission of the institution and the verbal consent of the participants were obtained. In collection of data, ‘Personal Information Form’ developed by the researchers and the Malpractice Tendency Scale (SMT) were used. The data were analyzed using SPSS 20 package program. 0.05 was used as the level of significance. Results: The Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was 0.94 and the total mean value of the scale was 211.69 ± 22.14. The mean age of the participants was 22,08 ± 1,852 years; 165 (36,4%) were male and 288 (63,6%) were female. Their mean General Point Average (GPA) was 2.65 ± 0.454 (min 1.03 - max 3.90). Students' average duration of self study per week was 2.89 ± 3.81 (min 0 - max 30) hours. The mean score (80.73) of the 4th year students in the sub-dimension of Drug and Transfusion Applications was significantly higher than the mean score (79.20) of 3rd year students (p < 0.05). The mean score (81.01) of the Drug and Transfusion Applications sub-dimension of those who willingly chose the profession was higher than the mean score (78.88) of those who chose the profession unwillingly. The mean average score (21.48) of Fallings sub-dimension of students who cared for 3 to 4 patients per day was lower than the mean score (22.41) of those who cared for 5 patients and over daily on average (p < 0.05). Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was concluded that malpractice tendency of nursing students was low, and an inverse relationship was found between the duration of education and malpractice tendency.

Objective: The aim in this study is to determine probability of malpractice among attending healthcare professionals. Background: Malpractice is a significant problem with potentially serious consequences, even death, and which is commonly encountered in healthcare practices. Material and Method: The study sample comprised 560 healthcare workers from three different hospitals. The Scale of Malpractice Tendency (SMT) validated by Ozata and Altunkan (2010) and a Personal Data Form were used in the study, and the SPSS for Windows 20. 0 software package was used for the statistical analysis. In determining the parameters affecting the subscale scores of the SMT, a t-test or a one analysis of variance were used in independent groups. The level of statistical significance was set as 0.05 in all analyses. Results: The mean score was 87.22±4.23 in the medication and transfusion subscale, 57.69±3.43 in the nosocomial infections subscale, 42.71±3.24 in the patient follow-up and material safety subscale, 23.99±1.78 in the falls subscale and 24.36±1.38 in the communication subscale. The total mean scale score was 235.97±14.06. Conclusion: The probability of malpractice among the participants was low. The mean total sub-scale score of the participants aged 40 years and older was found to be higher, while the likelihood of malpractice was lower than in the other age groups. Harlequin ,Care ,Medical ethics ,Newborn ,Nursing period - Abstract
Palliative and preventive care is recommended when harlequin ichthyosis is encountered

PubMedID: 28342627 Aim The aim of the study is to provide usage of subcutaneous tissue of lateral calf area (region of M. Gastrocnemius) in addition to the existing injection regions and to compare tissue thicknesses of the lateral upper arm, anterior and lateral thigh, anterior abdomen regions and calf regions. Background Subcutaneous injection (SC) is an application of 0.5 cc drug with an injection (No. 25 and 8–15–18 mm long) to the connective tissue under the skin. Individuals to which SC injection is frequently applied, should rotate the injection areas. Methods This research uses the descriptive method. One hundred and sixty-one students (aged; 20.09 ± 2.268) were used as test subjects. Demographic data was obtained from the students who agreed to participate in the research. Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated. Skin thickness measured using the Holtain Skinfold Caliper. SPSS 20 package software was used for statistical analysis of the data. For comparison of the tissue thicknesses between genders, the t-test was used for independent groups. In order to determine the interactions between anthropometric measurements within each other and other numerical measurements (age, length. BMI, etc.). Pearson Correlation coefficient and related P value was performed. Statistical P value is taken as 0.05. Results Consideration of subcutaneous injection applicability of the calf region depended on the injector lengths: 8 mm, 15 mm and 18 mm, 86.3%, 59.6% and 47.8% of the population, respectively were found applicable for this region. Conclusions The calf region could be recommended as SC injection region with an 8 mm injector. According to the findings it can be said that the calf region of female genders is more applicable than male genders for SC injection. Calf region could be proposed as anticoagulation treatment. © 2017 Elsevier Inc.

Organ transplantasyonu ,Etik ,Yasama ve Hukuk Bilimi - Abstract
Organ transplantation is a method of solution for the problems in situations that severely impair the maintenance of life in an individual, because of functional disorders in a tissue or organ. Organ transplantations are no longer operations that carry risks, but they are safe and successful surgical interventions that maintain long-lasting recovery periods, increase quality of life, and are more commonly applied in a gradually increasing manner. Besides its medical aspects, organ transplantation has an extremely wide range of social, legal and ethical features. Validation of the moment of death, permission of donor, and cash benefit from organ transplantation are the matters of debate all over the world, regarding the ethical considerations. Regulation of all these issues by laws does not mean that the procedures are proper for ethical norms, but since compliance with laws has been maintained, limits of the criminal or legal liabilities are also defined.
