Abstract

Stevens-Johnson syndrome, overlap syndrome Stevens-Johnson-toxic epidermal necrolysis and toxic epidermal necrolysis or Brocq-Lyell syndrome are uncommon diseases caused by drugs in the most of cases. Toxic epidermal necrolysis is a potentially fatal illness, which is characterized by extensive epidermal detachment combined with severe inflammation and denudation of the mucosal surfaces. Because of low incidence of toxic epidermal necrolysis, the treatment is controversial, however, withdrawing causal medication, nutritional and electrolytic balance support and control of infections are the key to better evolution of the patients. Intravenous immunoglobulin and cyclosporine A can be effective therapies when there are no contraindications for its use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
