Abstract

Data mining is the process of knowledge extraction from the data with the algorithms that identify hidden relationships and patterns, which are usually not noticeable at first glance. Data mining has become omnipresent in various domains in the recent decade, but its usage in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is still under-represented. This paper investigates the determinants of data mining usage in SMEs using the TOE Framework (Technology-Organisation-Environment). A model has been proposed to test the impact of individual components of the TOE framework on the intensity of data mining and, in turn, test the effect of data mining implementation on business performance. The survey has been carried out on a sample of small and medium-sized Italian enterprises. Two methodologies have been used to analyze structural equation modeling (SEM) and artificial neural networks (ANN). Using a hybrid SEM-ANN methodology, hypotheses were tested. It was shown that the TOE framework could explain the intensity of knowledge discovery use in databases, utilizing the importance-performance map analysis to reveal the significance and performance of each determinant. Abstract

Data mining has become the omnipresent requirement in the business environment of abundant data. At the beginning of data mining development, the one- solution approach was mostly used. In the last 20 years, mostly due to the development of various educational programs and the availability of open- source software, data mining has evolved into a mature-leveled software solution that does not necessarily require high-level expertise since numerous prototype solutions have emerged. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are still lagging behind large companies in data mining implementation, which raises the question of the determinants of data mining adoption. This paper aims to test the preliminary model of data mining adoption using the Technology-Organization- Environment framework. The survey on the sample of Italian SMEs was conducted to test the model, and the collected company data was analyzed using the PLS-SEM approach.

Abstract

Internet tehnologija predstavlja okosnicu modernog života koja omogućuje ljudima efikasno mreženje, brzu komunikaciju i poslovanje. Ljudski život se značajno promijenio dostupnošću online usluga, gotovo da pore naše svakodnevnice u koju nije ušla ta tehnologija. Korisnika je sve više, spektar domena djelovanja svakodnevno raste a time i mogućnost cyber napada. Vrsta cyber napada koja je posebno opasna za korisnike računala je phishing. Phishing je pokušaj maskiranja u pouzdane subjekte u elektroničkoj komunikaciji. Phishing napadi su postali izuzetno sofisticirani i imaju svrhu navesti potencijalnu žrtvu da klikom na poveznice u poruci ili na datoteku u privitku, aktivira zloćudni softver koji će napadaču omogućiti upad u server. Cilj ovaj rad se fokus aspekt ljudske sigurnosti kako bi se izbjegle kibernetičke prijetnje u virtualnome svijetu. Stručnjaci za sigurnost i phishing napadači danas su u tjesnoj utrci. Stručnjaci za internetsku sigurnost uz pomoć aplikacija programiraju i nastoje poboljšavati otkrivanje krađe identiteta i neželjene pošte dok su korisnici najslabija karika konstantno izloženi riziku. Phisheri uvijek koriste psihološke slabosti ljudi kako bi dizajnirali novo vrste phishing napada.
