A retrospective analysis was performed of case histories of 120 patients operated on for malignant tumours of the kidneys. 14 patients (11,6%) presented with fever in the range of 37.4-38.2 degrees C before the operation; in five cases it was the only sign of the disease. Fever was more common among those patients with renal-cell carcinoma, viz. clear-cell carcinoma, as evidenced by histological investigation and analysis of digital data (in 9 or 20,9 percent out of 43 patients). In mixed type renal-cell carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma it occurred more seldom, with 2 (4,3%) cases out of 46 patients and 2 (15,4%) out of 13 respectively. Patients with glandular and spindle cell carcinomas and those with keratinizing type squamous cell carcinoma were fever-free.

As many as 51 autopsy cards were analysed of those having died of carcinoma of the kidney over the period of 1970 to 1992. Lung and lymph gland metastases were found to be the most common among different histological forms of carcinoma of the kidney, such as clear cell carcinoma, mixed-, granular-, spindle-cell variants of renal cell and transitional cell carcinomas. In most cases they were of multiple type and were associated with metastases spreading to other organs. It was only carcinoma glandulare of hypernephroma and squamous cell carcinoma that presented with no lung metastases, which fact may be taken into consideration in the diagnosis and prognostication of the medical condition in question.

To correct urination the authors used retrograde infusion urethrocystography (RIU) in 102 males. 57 of them had an urethral stricture. A novel urethrocystography device is proposed which facilitates the procedure and is more safe in relation to complication danger. The advantages of the modified RIU over routine one are demonstrated.

Retrospective analysis has been carried out of case records of 122 patients operated on in the urological department for renal cancer. It is only in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), keratinizing type of epidermoid carcinoma, and spindle cell variant of SCC that the diminution in red blood count, decrease in hemoglobin and increase in ESR was noted to occur in all the patients; to a lesser extent the above changes showed up in adenocarcinoma, mixed type, clear cell, granular cell variants of SCC and in transitional cell carcinoma. Increase in white blood count was noted in 80% of the patients in spindle cell variant of SCC only; whereas in other forms this was recorded in 11-33%. The results obtained will, we believe, help in broadening, to an extent, our diagnostic and prognostic potentialities in malignant neoplasia of the kidney.

Retrospective case records analysis of 126 patients operated on in urologic department for the kidney cancer during 1970-1991 yrs period of time. The severity of such symptoms as hematuria, pain and palpable tumor in accordance with various morphological types of the disease was studied up. The data obtained witnesses the presence of close correlational relation between morphological form of kidney cancer and clinical features of the disease, and that's why they can be used as the diagnostic and practical guides.

Long-term (1-10 years) results of wandering kidney surgery were followed-up for 118 patients. The outcomes were found dependent on the duration of the disease, variety and severity of the lesion, age of the patients. The response appeared better in younger patients, in those with shorter duration of the disease and with unessential changes in the kidney. Recommendations are provided on the regimens, jobs, outpatient and inpatient follow-up for the subjects treated surgically for wandering kidney to reinforce the correction results achieved.

The authors made a retrospective study of 120 patients operated on for malignant tumours of the kidneys (1970-1990). In 61 patients hematuria wis seen before surgery: in 21 patients it was the first and only manifestation of the disease. Hematuria was most frequently observed in transition-cell renal cancer; rarer in mixed-cell cancer. Hematuria was absent in granular-cell variant of renal-cell cancer and in planocellular renal cancer.
