We obtain a class of solutions corresponding to a generalization of the Hayward black hole by solving the Einstein equations coupled to a particular nonlinear electromagnetic field. The generalization is realized by considering, additionally, the presence of the cosmological constant and a source corresponding to an anisotropic fluid, namely, a fluid of strings, that surrounds the black hole. We show that the obtained class of solutions preserves or does not the regularity of the original Hayward black hole solution, depending on the values of the parameter $\beta$ which labels the different solutions. We discuss the characteristics of the solutions, from the point of view of the singularities of spacetime, by examining the behavior of the Kretschmann scalar as well as of the geodesics concerning their completeness. We analyze some aspects of thermodynamics, particularizing one of the solutions obtained, namely, for $\beta =-1/2$, in which case the regularity of the Hayward black hole is preserved. Some thermodynamic quantities are obtained and analyzed, for example, pressure, heat capacity, and the critical points, and we show how these quantities change for different values of the parameter $q$ associated with the original Hayward solution, as well as with the parameter $b$ associated with the presence of the fluid of strings. The phase transitions are also analyzed by using the equation of state and the Gibbs free energy.

Large future sky surveys, such as the LSST, will provide optical photometry for billions of objects. This paper aims to construct a proxy for the far ultraviolet attenuation (AFUVp) from the optical data alone, enabling the rapid estimation of the star formation rate (SFR) for galaxies that lack UV or IR data. To mimic LSST observations, we use the deep panchromatic optical coverage of the SDSS Photometric Catalogue DR~12, complemented by the estimated physical properties for the SDSS galaxies from the GALEX-SDSS-WISE Legacy Catalog (GSWLC) and inclination information obtained from the SDSS DR7. We restricted our sample to the 0.025-0.1 z-spec range and investigated relations among surface brightness, colours, and dust attenuation in the far UV range for star-forming galaxies obtained from the spectral energy distribution (SED). {Dust attenuation is best correlated with (u-r) colour and the surface brightness in the u band ($\rm \mu_{u}$). We provide a dust attenuation proxy for galaxies on the star-forming main sequence, which can be used for the LSST or any other type of broadband optical survey. The mean ratio between the catalogue values of SFR and those estimated using optical-only SDSS data with the AFUVp prior calculated as $\Delta$SFR=log(SFR$_{\tiny{\mbox{this work}}}$/SFR$_{\tiny{}\texttt{GSWLC}}$) is found to be less than 0.1~dex, while runs without priors result in an SFR overestimation larger than 0.3~dex. The presence or absence of theAFUVp has a negligible influence on the stellar mass estimation (with $\Delta$M$_{star}$ in the range from 0 to $-0.15$ dex). Forthcoming deep optical observations of the LSST Deep Drilling Fields, which also have multi-wavelength data, will enable one to calibrate the obtained relation for higher redshift galaxies and, possibly, extend the study towards other types of galaxies, such as early-type galaxies off the main sequence., Comment: 18 pages, accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics

We obtain the metric corresponding to the Hayward black hole spacetime surrounded by a cloud of strings and investigate the role played by this cloud on the horizons, geodesics, effective potential and thermodynamics. We compare the obtained results with the ones of the literature, corresponding to the Hayward black hole, when the cloud of strings is absent. Also, the question related to its nature, with respect to regularity, in this scenario, is examined.

Using spatially-resolved fossil record analysis on a large sample of 'red and dead' elliptical galaxies (classical ellipticals, CLEs) from the MaNGA/SDSS-IV DR15 survey, we reconstruct the archaeological evolution of their radial gradients in mass-to-luminosity ratio ($M/L$), $g-r$ color, and specific star formation (SF) rate. We also calculate other metrics that quantify the inside-out SF quenching and external mass growth processes. The $M/L$ gradients, $\nabla\Upsilon_{\star}$, are approximately flat at high look-back times ($t_{\rm lb}$), but then they become negative and steeper until an epoch, when this trend reverses. These trends are shifted to later epochs the less massive the galaxies are. Color gradients follow qualitatively similar trends. We find that these trends are mainly driven by strong inside-out quenching, without significant outer growth or structural changes overall. Our results suggest a scenario where the main progenitors of local CLE galaxies evolved quasi-passively after an early dissipative phase, but underwent radial photometric changes due to the inside-out quenching that led to the systematic decrease of $\nabla\Upsilon_{\star}$ and to an increase of the light-weighted radius. The late reversing of $\nabla\Upsilon_{\star}$, $t_{\rm lb}\approx2-4$ Gyr, roughly coincides with the global quenching of the CLE galaxies. We have pushed archaeological inferences to the limit, but thanks to the large number of objects and an understanding of how the caveats and assumptions affect our results, we conclude that they offer an average description of evolutionary behaviors of CLE progenitors that is valid at least qualitatively., Comment: 17 pages, 14 figures. The idea that discourse relations are construed through explicit content and shared, or implicit, knowledge between producer and interpreter is ubiquitous in discourse research and linguistics. However, the actual contribution of the lexical semantics of arguments is unclear. We propose a computational approach to the analysis of contrast and concession relations in the PDTB corpus. Our work sheds light on the extent to which lexical semantics contributes to signaling explicit and implicit discourse relations and clarifies the contribution of different parts of speech in both. This study contributes to bridging the gap between corpus linguistics and computational linguistics by proposing transparent and explainable models of discourse relations based on the synonymy and antonymy of their arguments., Comment: 20 pages, 13 figures

We present the MaNGA Dwarf galaxy, MaNDala, Value-Added-Catalog, VAC, from the final release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-IV program. MaNDala consists of 136 randomly selected bright dwarf galaxies with $M_{*}<10^{9.1}\odot$ and $M_{g}>-18.5$ making it the largest Integral Field Spectroscopy homogeneous sample of dwarf galaxies. We release a photometric analysis of the $g,r$ and $z$ broadband imaging based on the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys as well as the spectroscopic analysis based on the Pipe3D SDSS-IV VAC. Our release includes the surface brightness (SB), geometric parameters and color profiles, S\'ersic fits as well as stellar population properties (such as, stellar ages, metallicities, star formation histories), and emission lines fluxes within the FOV and the effective radii of the galaxies. We find that the majority of the MaNDala galaxies are star forming late-type galaxies with $\langle{}n_{\text{Sersic,r}}\rangle\sim1.6$ that are centrals (central/satellite dichotomy). MaNDala covers a large range of SB values (we find 11 candidates of ultra diffuse galaxies and 3 compact ones), filling the gap between classical dwarfs and low-mass galaxies in the Kormendy Diagram and in the size-mass/luminosity relation, whichseems to flatten at $10^82$, while the last $20\%$ was at $\langle{}z\rangle<0.3$. Finally, a bending of the sSFR-$M_{*}$ relation at $M_{*}\sim10^{9}\odot$ for the main sequence galaxies seems to be supported by MaNDala., Comment: 29 pages, 17 figures. We present a method to identify type-1 active galactic nuclei (AGN) in the central 3 arcsec integrated spectra of galaxies in the MaNGA DR15 sample. It is based on flux ratios estimates in spectral bands flanking the expected H$\alpha$ broad component H$\alpha_{BC}$. The high signal-to-noise ratio obtained (mean S/N = 84) permits the identification of H$\alpha_{BC}$ without prior subtraction of the host galaxy (HG) stellar component. A final sample of 47 type-1 AGN is reported out of 4700 galaxies at $z$ < 0.15. The results were compared with those from other methods based on the SDSS DR7 and MaNGA data. Detection of type-1 AGN in those works compared to our method goes from 26% to 81%. Spectral indexes were used to classify the type-1 AGN spectra according to different levels of AGN-HG contribution, finding 9 AGN-dominated, 14 intermediate, and 24 HG-dominated objects. Complementary data in NIR-MIR allowed us to identify type I AGN-dominated objects as blue and HG-dominated as red in the WISE colors. From NVSS and FIRST radio continuum data, we identify 5 HERGs (high-excitation radio galaxies) and 4 LERGs (low-excitation radio galaxies), three showing evidence of radio-jets in the FIRST maps. Additional X-ray data from ROSAT allowed us to build [OIII] and H$\alpha_{BC}$ versus X-ray, NIR-MIR, and radio continuum diagrams, showing that L(H$\alpha_{BC}$) and L([OIII]) provide good correlations. The range in H$\alpha_{BC}$ luminosity is wide 38 < logL(H$\alpha_{BC}$) < 44, with log FWHM(H$\alpha_{BC}$)$\sim$ 3-4, covering a range of Eddington ratios of -5.15 < log L$_{bol}$/L$_{edd}$ < 0.70. Tidal features in the outskirts of galaxies yield unique information about their past interactions and are a key prediction of the hierarchical structure formation paradigm. The Vera C. Rubin Observatory is poised to deliver deep observations for potentially of millions of objects with visible tidal features, but the inference of galaxy interaction histories from such features is not straightforward. Utilising automated techniques and human visual classification in conjunction with realistic mock images produced using the NEWHORIZON cosmological simulation, we investigate the nature, frequency and visibility of tidal features and debris across a range of environments and stellar masses. In our simulated sample, around 80 per cent of the flux in the tidal features around Milky Way or greater mass galaxies is detected at the 10-year depth of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (30-31 mag / sq. arcsec), falling to 60 per cent assuming a shallower final depth of 29.5 mag / sq. arcsec. The fraction of total flux found in tidal features increases towards higher masses, rising to 10 per cent for the most massive objects in our sample (M*~10^{11.5} Msun). When observed at sufficient depth, such objects frequently exhibit many distinct tidal features with complex shapes. The interpretation and characterisation of such features varies significantly with image depth and object orientation, introducing significant biases in their classification. Assuming the data reduction pipeline is properly optimised, we expect the Rubin Observatory to be capable of recovering much of the flux found in the outskirts of Milky Way mass galaxies, even at intermediate redshifts (z<0.2)., Comment: 29 pages, 25 figures; accepted for publication in MNRAS following minor corrections

We present a detailed visual morphological classification for the 4614 MaNGA galaxies in SDSS Data Release 15, using image mosaics generated from a combination of r-band (SDSS and deeper DESI Legacy Surveys) images and their digital post-processing. We distinguish 13 Hubble types and identify the presence of bars and bright tidal debris. After correcting the MaNGA sample for volume completeness, we calculate the morphological fractions, the bi-variate distribution of type and stellar mass M*-where we recognise a morphological transition "valley" around S0a-Sa types- and the variations of the g-i colour and luminosity-weighted age over this distribution. We identified bars in 46.8% of galaxies, present in all Hubble types later than S0. This fraction amounts to a factor ~2 larger when compared with other works for samples in common. We detected 14% of galaxies with tidal features, with the fraction changing with M* and morphology. For 355 galaxies, the classification was uncertain; they are visually faint, mostly of low/intermediate masses, low concentrations, and disky in nature. Our morphological classification agrees well with other works for samples in common, though some particular differences emerge, showing that our image procedures allow us to identify a wealth of added value information as compared to SDSS-based previous estimates. We apply stellar population synthesis analysis to obtain spatially-resolved archaeological inferences for a large sample of "red and dead" Elliptical galaxies (Classical Ellipticals; CLEs) from the MaNGA/SDSS-IV DR15 survey. From their 2D stellar light and mass maps, we explore the differences between the radial mass and light distributions in the rest-frame bands $g,$ $r,$ and $i$ as functions of look-back time, $t_{\rm lb}$, or redshift, $z$. We characterize these differences through the ratios between the following mass- and light-derived global properties: sizes, concentrations, and effective surface densities. We find that the mass-to-light ratios of these properties change with $t_{\rm lb}$, more the more massive the galaxies are. The CLE galaxy archaeological progenitors are, on average, less compact, concentrated, and dense in light than in mass as $z$ decreases. However, at later times, when also the evolution of the progenitors becomes passive at all radii, there is an upturn in these trends and the differences between mass and light in compactness/concentration decrease towards $z\sim 0$. The trends in the ratios of mass to light sizes agree qualitatively with results from direct observations in galaxy surveys at different redshifts. We discuss the caveats and interpretations of our results, and speculate that the strong structural evolution found in some previous studies for early-type galaxies could be explained partially by photometric changes rather than by intrinsic structural changes., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 19 pages, 11 figures

The Andromeda galaxy is the best-known large galaxy besides our own Milky Way. Several images and studies exist at all wavelengths from radio to hard X-ray. Nevertheless, only a few observations are available in the microwave range where its average radio emission reaches the minimum. In this paper, we want to study the radio morphology of the galaxy, decouple thermal from nonthermal emission, and extract the star formation rate. We also aim to derive a complete catalog of radio sources for the mapped patch of sky. We observed the Andromeda galaxy with the Sardinia Radio Telescope at 6.6 GHz with very high sensitivity and angular resolution, and an unprecedented sky coverage. Using new 6.6 GHz data and Effelsberg radio telescope ancillary data, we confirm that, globally, the spectral index is $\sim 0.7-0.8$, while in the star forming regions it decreases to $\sim 0.5$. By disentangling (gas) thermal and nonthermal emission, we find that at 6.6 GHz, thermal emission follows the distribution of HII regions around the ring. Nonthermal emission within the ring appears smoother and more uniform than thermal emission because of diffusion of the cosmic ray electrons away from their birthplaces. This causes the magnetic fields to appear almost constant in intensity. Furthermore, we calculated a map of the star formation rate based on the map of thermal emission. Integrating within a radius of $R_{max}=15$ kpc, we obtained a total star formation rate of $0.19 \pm 0.01$ $M_{\odot}$/yr in agreement with previous results in the literature. Finally, we correlated our radio data with infrared images of the Andromeda galaxy. We find an unexpectedly high correlation between nonthermal and mid-infrared data in the central region, with a correlation parameter $r=0.93$., Comment: 36 pages, 31 figures, 10 tables. The cool white dwarf WD 1856+534 was found to be transited by a Jupiter-sized object with a mass at or below 14 M$_{\rm{Jup}}$. We used the GTC telescope to obtain and analyse photometry and low resolution spectroscopy of six transits of WD 1856+534 b, with the intention to derive the slope of the transmission spectrum, towards an eventual detection of Rayleigh scattering of the particles in its atmosphere. Such a slope, assuming a cloud-free atmosphere dominated by Rayleigh scattering, could be translated into an estimation of the mass of WD 1856+534 b. However, the resultant transmission spectrum is essentially flat, and therefore permits only the determination of lower mass limits of 2.4 M$_{\rm{Jup}}$ at the 2-$\sigma$ level, or 1.6 M$_{\rm{Jup}}$ at 3-$\sigma$. These limits have implications for some of the proposed formation scenarios for the object. We elaborate on the potential effects of clouds and hazes in our estimations, based on previous studies of Jupiter and Titan. In addition, we detected an H$\alpha$ absorption feature in the combined spectrum of the host white dwarf, that leads to the assignation of a DA classification and allows derivation of an independent set of atmospheric parameters. Furthermore, the epochs of five transits were measured with sub-second precision, which demonstrates that additional objects more massive than $\approx$5 M$_{\rm{Jup}}$ and with periods longer than $O(100)$ days could be detected through the light travel time effect, Comment: 14 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics

We obtain an exact solution of Einstein's equations for a charged, static and spherically symmetric body, surrounded by a fluid of strings and with a cosmological constant. This corresponds to the Reissner-Nordstr\"om (de Sitter)-Anti de Sitter black hole surrounded by a fluid of strings. Some aspects concerning the horizons and geodesic motion are discussed. We also obtain the metric corresponding to the Kerr-Newman black hole surrounded by a fluid of strings, by using a method to construct the rotating solution from its counterpart static one. The horizons, ergoregions, and geodesic motion are analyzed. In both cases, the role played by the fluid of strings was pointed out.

We study the spatially resolved properties of 343 elliptical galaxies with the MaNGA/SDSS-IV survey. We used the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys for morphological classification. Based on integrated spectroscopic properties and colors, we classified seven classes of ellipticals. We inferred the stellar age and metallicity ($Z$) gradients out to a 1.5 effective radius of classical "red and dead", recently quenched, and blue star-forming ellipticals (CLEs, RQEs, and BSFs), corresponding to 73%, 10%, and 4% of the sample, respectively. We reconstructed their global and radial histories of star formation and mass growth. We find the mass- and luminosity-weighted age gradients of CLEs are nearly flat or mildly negative. The respective $Z$ gradients are negative, being flatter as the mass is smaller. The more massive CLEs formed stars earlier and quenched faster than the less massive ones. The CLEs show a weak inside-out growth and a clear inside-out quenching. They finished their quenching globally 3.8 $\pm$ 1.2 Gyr ago, with quenching time-scales of 3.4 $\pm$ 0.8 Gyr. At masses < 10$^{11}$ $M_{\bigodot}$, the age and $Z$ gradients of the RQEs and BSFs are flatter than those of the CLEs but with larger scatters. They show very weak inside-out growth and quenching, which is slow and even not completed at $z\sim0$ for the BSFs. Instead, the massive RQEs show an outside-in quenching and positive gradients in the luminosity-weighted age and stellar metallicities. The RQEs of all masses quenched 1.2 $\pm$ 0.9 Gyr ago on average. Our results for the CLEs are consistent with a two-phase scenario where their inner parts formed by an early and coeval dissipative collapse with a consequent burst of star formation and further quenching, whereas the outer parts continued their assembly likely by dry mergers. Research on container loading problems has been proved effective in increasing the filling rate of containers in different practical situations. However, the broader logistic context might pressure the loading process, leading to sub-optimal solutions. Some facilities like cross-docks have reduced storage space which might force early loading activities. We propose a container loading problem which accounts for this limited storage by explicitly considering the schedule of arrival for the boxes and the departure time of the trucks. Also, we design a framework which handles the geometric and temporal characteristics of the problem separately, enabling the use of methods found in the literature for solving the extended problem. Our framework can handle uncertainty in the schedule and be used to quantify the impact of delays on capacity utilization and departure time of trucks.

We study the global star-formation rate (SFR) vs. stellar mass (M$_*$) correlation, and the spatially-resolved SFR surface density ($\Sigma_{SFR}$) vs. stellar mass surface density (\Sm) correlation, in a sample of $\sim2,000$ galaxies from the MaNGA MPL-5 survey. We classify galaxies and spatially-resolved areas into star-forming and retired according to their ionization processes. We confirm the existence of a Star-Forming Main Sequence (SFMS) for galaxies and spatially-resolved areas, and show that they have the same nature, with the global as a consequence of the local one. The latter presents a bend below a limit \Sm value, $\approx 3\times 10^7$ M$_\odot$kpc$^{-2}$, which is not physical. Using only star-forming areas (SFAs) above this limit, a slope and a scatter of $\approx1$ and $\approx0.27$ dex are determined. The retired galaxies/areas strongly segregate from their respective SFMS's, by $\sim -1.5$ dex on average. We explore how the global/local SFMS's depend on galaxy morphology, finding that for star-forming galaxies and SFAs, there is a trend to lower values of star-formation activity with earlier morphological types, which is more pronounced for the local SFMS. The morphology not only affects the global SFR due to the diminish of SFAs with earlier types, but also affects the local SF process. Our results suggest that the local SF at all radii is established by some universal mechanism partially modulated by morphology. Morphology seems to be connected to the slow aging and sharp decline of the SF process, and on its own it may depend on other properties as the environment., Comment: 24 pages, 16 figues. We obtain the solution corresponding to a static and spherically symmetric black hole with a cloud of strings (Letelier spacetime) immersed in a quintessential fluid. We discuss some aspects of its thermodynamics. We also present a discussion about Hawking radiation of particles, in the background under consideration.

By means of the fossil record method implemented through Pipe3D, we reconstruct the global and radial stellar mass growth histories (MGHs) of an unprecedentedly large sample of galaxies, ranging from dwarf to giant objects, from the "Mapping Nearby Galaxies at the Apache Point Observatory" survey. We confirm that the main driver of the global MGHs is mass, with more massive galaxies assembling their masses earlier (downsizing), though for a given mass, the global MGHs segregate by color, specific star formation rate (sSFR), and morphological type. From the inferred radial mean MGHs, we find that at the late evolutionary stages (or for fractions of assembled mass larger than ~ 80%), the innermost regions formed stars on average earlier than the outermost ones (inside-out). At earlier epochs, when the age resolution of the method becomes poor, the mass assembly seems to be spatially homogeneous or even in the outside-in mode, specially for the red/quiescent/early-type galaxies. The innermost MGHs are in general more regular (less scatter around the mean) than the outermost ones. For dwarf and low-mass galaxies, we do not find evidence of an outside-in formation mode; instead their radial MGHs are very diverse most of the time, with periods of outside- in and inside-out modes (or strong radial migration), suggesting this an episodic SF history. Blue/star-forming/late-type galaxies present on average a significantly more pronounced inside-out formation mode than red/quiescent/early-type galaxies, independently of mass. We discuss our results in the light of the processes of galaxy formation, quenching, and radial migration. We analyse the rotation curves and gravitational stability of a sample of six bulgeless galaxies for which detailed images reveal no evidence for strong bars. We explore two scenarios: Newtonian dark matter models and MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND). By adjusting the stellar mass-to-light ratio, dark matter models can match simultaneously both the rotation curve and bar-stability requirements in these galaxies. To be consistent with stability constraints, in two of these galaxies, the stellar mass-to-light ratio is a factor of ~1.5-2 lower than the values suggested from galaxy colours. In contrast, MOND fits to the rotation curves are poor in three galaxies, perhaps because the gas tracer contains noncircular motions. The bar stability analysis provides a new observational test to MOND. We find that most of the galaxies under study require abnormally-high levels of random stellar motions to be bar stable in MOND. In particular, for the only galaxy in the sample for which the line-of-sight stellar velocity dispersion has been measured (NGC 6503), the observed velocity dispersion is not consistent with MOND predictions because it is far below the required value to guarantee bar stability. We have studied a sample of 89 very isolated, elliptical galaxies at z < 0.08 and compared their properties with elliptical galaxies located in a high-density environment such as the Coma supercluster. Our aim is to probe the role of environment on the morphological transformation and quenching of elliptical galaxies as a function of mass. In addition, we elucidate the nature of a particular set of blue and star-forming isolated ellipticals identified here. We study physical properties of ellipticals such as color, specific star formation rate, galaxy size, and stellar age, as a function of stellar mass and environment based on SDSS data. We analyze the blue star-forming isolated ellipticals in more detail, through photometric characterization using GALFIT, and infer their star formation history using STARLIGHT. Among the isolated ellipticals ~ 20% are blue, 8% are star forming, and ~ 10% are recently quenched, while among the Coma ellipticals ~ 8% are blue and just <= 1% are star forming or recently quenched. There are four isolated galaxies (~ 4.5%) that are blue and star forming at the same time. These galaxies, with masses between 7 x 10^9 and 2 x 10^10 h-2 M_sun, are also the youngest galaxies with light-weighted stellar ages <= 1 Gyr and exhibit bluer colors toward the galaxy center. Around 30-60% of their present-day luminosity, but only < 5% of their present-day mass, is due to star formation in the last 1 Gyr. The processes of morphological transformation and quenching seem to be in general independent of environment since most of elliptical galaxies are 'red and dead', although the transition to the red sequence should be faster for isolated ellipticals. We perform an exhaustive comparison among central galaxies from SDSS catalogs in different local environments at 0.01<=z<=0.08. The central galaxies are separated into two categories: group centrals (host halos containing satellites) and field centrals (host halos without satellites). From the latter, we select other two subsamples: isolated centrals and bright field centrals, both with the same magnitude limit. The stellar mass (Ms) distributions of the field and group central galaxies are different, which explains why in general the field central galaxies are mainly located in the blue cloud/star forming regions, whereas the group central galaxies are strongly biased to the red sequence/passive regions. The isolated centrals occupy the same regions as the bright field centrals since both populations have similar Ms distributions. At parity of Ms, the color and specific star formation rate (sSFR) distributions of the samples are similar, specially between field and group centrals. Furthermore, we find that the stellar-to-halo mass (Ms-Mh) relation of isolated galaxies does not depend on the color, sSFR and morphological type. For systems without satellites, the Ms-Mh relation steepens at high halo masses compared to group centrals, which is a consequence of assuming a one-to-one relation between group total stellar mass and halo mass. Under the same assumption, the scatter around the Ms-Mh relation of centrals with satellites increases with halo mass. NGC3367 is a nearby isolated active galaxy that shows a radio jet, a strong bar and evidence of lopsidedness. We present a quantitative analysis of the stellar and gaseous structure of the galaxy disk and a search for evidence of recent interaction based on new UBVRI Halpha and JHK images and on archival Halpha Fabry-Perot and HI VLA data. From a coupled 1D/2D GALFIT bulge/bar/disk decomposition an (B/D ~ 0.07-0.1) exponential pseudobulge is inferred in all the observed bands. A NIR estimate of the bar strength = 0.44 places NGC 3367 bar among the strongest ones. The asymmetry properties were studied using (1) optical and NIR CAS indexes (2) the stellar (NIR) and gaseous (Halpha, HI) A_1 Fourier mode amplitudes and (3) the HI integrated profile and HI mean intensity distribution. While the average stellar component shows asymmetry values close to the average found in the Local Universe for isolated galaxies, the young stellar component and gas values are largely decoupled showing significantly larger A_1 mode amplitudes suggesting that the gas has been recently perturbed. Our search for (1) faint stellar structures in the outer regions (up to u_R ~ 26 mag arcsec^{-2}), (2) (Halpha) star-forming satellite galaxies and (3) regions with different colors (stellar populations) along the disk all failed. Such an absence is interpreted using recent numerical simulations to constrain a tidal event with an LMC like galaxy to some dynamical times in the past or to a current very low mass, gas rich accretion. We conclude that a cold accretion mode (gas and small/dark galaxies) may be responsible of the nuclear activity and peculiar (young stars and gas) morphology regardless of the highly isolated environment. A new catalog of isolated galaxies from The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (DR5) is presented. 1520 isolated galaxies were found in 1.4 steradians of sky. The selection criteria in this so called UNAM-KIAS catalog was implemented from a variation on the criteria developed by Karachentseva 1973 including full redshift information. Through an image processing pipeline that takes advantage from the high resolution (~ 0.4 ''/pix) and high dynamic range of the SDSS images, a uniform g band morphological classification for all these galaxies is presented. We identify 80% (SaSm) spirals (50% later than Sbc types) on one hand, and a scarce population of early-type E(6.5%) and S0(8%) galaxies amounting to 14.5% on the other hand. This magnitude-limited catalog is ~ 80% complete at 16.5, 15.6, 15.0, 14.6 and 14.4 magnitudes in the ugriz bands respectively. Some representative physical properties including SDSS magnitudes and color distributions, color-color diagrams, absolute magnitude-color, and concentration-color diagrams as a function of morphological type are presented. The UNAM-KIAS Morphological Atlas is also released along with this paper. For each galaxy of type later than Sa, a mosaic is presented that includes: (1) a g-band logarithmic image, (2) a g band filtered-enhanced image where a Gaussian kernel of various sizes was applied and (3) an RGB color image from the SDSS database. We explore how the slopes and scatters of the scaling relations of disk galaxies (Vm-L[-M], R-L[-M], and Vm-R) do change when moving from B to K bands and to stellar and baryonic quantities. For our compiled sample of 76 normal, non-interacting high and low surface brightness galaxies, we find some changes, which evidence evolution effects, mainly related to gas infall and star formation (SF). We also explore correlations among the (B-K) color, stellar mass fraction fs, mass M (luminosity L), and surface density (SB), as well as correlations among the residuals of the scaling relations. Some of our findings are: (i) the scale length Rb is a third parameter in the baryonic TF relation and the residuals of this relation follow a trend (slope ~-0.15) with the residuals of the Rb-Mb relation; for the stellar and K band cases, R is not anymore a third parameter and the mentioned trend disappears; (ii) among the TFRs, the B-band TFR is the most scattered; in this case, the color is a third parameter; (iii) the LSB galaxies break some observed trends, which suggest a threshold in the gas surface density Sg, below which the SF becomes independent of the gas infall rate and Sg. Our results are interpreted and discussed in the light of LCDM-based models of galaxy evolution. The models explain not only the baryonic scaling relations, but also most of the processes responsible for the observed changes in the slopes, scatters, and correlations among the residuals when changing to stellar and luminous quantities. The baryon fraction is required to be smaller than 0.05 on average. We detect some potential difficulties for the models: the observed color-M and surface density-M correlations are steeper, and the intrinsic scatter in the baryonic TFR is smaller than those predicted. We present a revaluation of the optical morphology for 549 galaxies from the Catalog of Isolated Galaxies (Karachentseva 1973) that are available in the SDSS (DR6). Both the high resolution and high dynamic range of the SDSS images and our semi-automatic image processing scheme, allow for a major quality and uniform morphological analysis. The processing scheme includes (1) sky-subtracted, cleaned, and logarithmic scaled g-band images; (2) filtered-enhanced versions of the images in (1); and (3) the RGB images available in the SDSS database. Special attention was paid for distinguishing between E, S0, and Sa candidates through an additional analysis of (4) the surface brightness, \epsilon, PA, and A_4/B_4 Fourier series expansion profiles. The median type in the sample corresponds to Sbc, with 65% of the sample being of this type or later. A scarce population of E (3.5%) and S0 (5%) galaxies, and a non-negligible 14% fraction of SaSab spirals are identified. We calculate also the gri absolute magnitudes corrected by Galactic and internal extinctions and present the g-i color distribution and the color-magnitude diagram. Among the spirals, we find fractions of strong and suspected bars of 65.8% and of 33.3% of rings. For the E galaxies we find a richness of distinct substructure in their isophotal shape and also of morphological distortions. At least 78% of the ellipticals show some kind of distortion, suggesting that these galaxies suffered late dry mergers. Finally, we calculate the CAS (concentration, asymmetry and clumpiness) structural parameters in the ugriz bands. We analyze the loci of our isolated galaxies in different projections of the CAS volume and discuss some trends of these parameters with the color band, as well as with the type and the galaxy color. We investigate the Heston model with stochastic volatility and exponential tails as a model for the typical price fluctuations of the Brazilian S\~ao Paulo Stock Exchange Index (IBOVESPA). Raw prices are first corrected for inflation and a period spanning 15 years characterized by memoryless returns is chosen for the analysis. Model parameters are estimated by observing volatility scaling and correlation properties. We show that the Heston model with at least two time scales for the volatility mean reverting dynamics satisfactorily describes price fluctuations ranging from time scales larger than 20 minutes to 160 days. At time scales shorter than 20 minutes we observe autocorrelated returns and power law tails incompatible with the Heston model. Despite major regulatory changes, hyperinflation and currency crises experienced by the Brazilian market in the period studied, the general success of the description provided may be regarded as an evidence for a general underlying dynamics of price fluctuations at intermediate mesoeconomic time scales well approximated by the Heston model. We analyse a period spanning 35 years of activity in the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange Index (IBOVESPA) and show that the Heston model with stochastic volatility is capable of explaining price fluctuations for time scales ranging from 5 minutes to 100 days with a single set of parameters. We also show that the Heston model is inconsistent with the observed behavior of the volatility autocorrelation function. We deal with the latter inconsistency by introducing a slow time scale to the model.
