In a previous paper, we introduced quasi-BPS categories for moduli stacks of semistable Higgs bundles. Under a certain condition on the rank, Euler characteristic, and weight, the quasi-BPS categories (called BPS in this case) are non-commutative analogues of Hitchin integrable systems. We proposed a conjectural equivalence between BPS categories which swaps Euler characteristics and weights. The conjecture is inspired by the Dolbeault Geometric Langlands equivalence of Donagi--Pantev, by the Hausel--Thaddeus mirror symmetry, and by the $\chi$-independence phenomenon for BPS invariants of curves on Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this paper, we show that the above conjecture holds at the level of topological K-theories. When the rank and the Euler characteristic are coprime, such an isomorphism was proved by Groechenig--Shen. Along the way, we show that the topological K-theory of BPS categories is isomorphic to the BPS cohomology of the moduli of semistable Higgs bundles., Comment: 59 pages

We introduce quasi-BPS categories for twisted Higgs bundles, which are building blocks of the derived category of coherent sheaves on the moduli stack of semistable twisted Higgs bundles over a smooth projective curve. Under some condition (called BPS condition), the quasi-BPS categories are non-commutative analogues of Hitchin integrable systems. We begin the study of these quasi-BPS categories by focusing on a conjectural symmetry which swaps the Euler characteristic and the weight. Our conjecture is inspired by the Dolbeault Geometric Langlands equivalence of Donagi--Pantev, by the Hausel--Thaddeus mirror symmetry, and by the $\chi$-independence phenomenon for BPS invariants of curves on Calabi-Yau threefolds. We introduce and begin the study of quasi-BPS categories for K3 surfaces, which are a categorical version of the BPS cohomologies for K3 surfaces. We construct semiorthogonal decompositions of derived categories of coherent sheaves on moduli stacks of semistable objects on K3 surfaces, where each summand is a categorical Hall product of quasi-BPS categories. We also prove the wall-crossing equivalence of quasi-BPS categories, which generalizes Halpern-Leistner's wall-crossing equivalence of moduli spaces of stable objects for primitive Mukai vectors on K3 surfaces. We also introduce and study a reduced quasi-BPS category. When the weight is coprime to the Mukai vector, the reduced quasi-BPS category is proper, smooth, and its Serre functor is trivial \'{e}tale locally on the good moduli space. Moreover we prove that its topological K-theory recovers the BPS invariants of K3 surfaces, which are known to be equal to the Euler characteristics of Hilbert schemes of points on K3 surfaces. We regard reduced quasi-BPS categories as noncommutative hyperk\"ahler varieties which are categorical versions of crepant resolutions of singular symplectic moduli spaces of semistable objects on K3 surfaces., Comment: 66 pages

In previous works, we introduced and studied certain categories called quasi-BPS categories associated to symmetric quivers with potential, preprojective algebras, and local surfaces. They have properties reminiscent of BPS invariants/ cohomologies in enumerative geometry, for example they play important roles in categorical wall-crossing formulas. In this paper, we make the connections between quasi-BPS categories and BPS cohomologies more precise via the cycle map for topological K-theory. We show the existence of filtrations on topological K-theory of quasi-BPS categories whose associated graded are isomorphic to the monodromy invariant BPS cohomologies. Along the way, we also compute the topological K-theory of categories of matrix factorizations in terms of the monodromy invariant vanishing cycles (a version of this comparison was already known by work of Blanc-Robalo-To\"en-Vezzosi), prove a Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem for matrix factorizations, and prove the compatibility between the Koszul equivalence in K-theory and dimensional reduction in cohomology. In a separate paper, we use the results from this paper to show that the quasi-BPS categories of K3 surfaces recover the BPS invariants of the corresponding local surface, which are Euler characteristics of Hilbert schemes of points on K3 surfaces., Comment: 80 pages, the main theorems apply now to all quivers

We study certain categories associated to symmetric quivers with potential, called quasi-BPS categories. We construct semiorthogonal decompositions of the categories of matrix factorizations for moduli stacks of representations of (framed or unframed) symmetric quivers with potential, where the summands are categorical Hall products of quasi-BPS categories. These results generalize our previous results about the three loop quiver. We prove several properties of quasi-BPS categories: wall-crossing equivalence, strong generation, and categorical support lemma in the case of tripled quivers with potential. We also introduce reduced quasi-BPS categories for preprojective algebras, which have trivial relative Serre functor and are indecomposable when the weight is coprime with the total dimension. In this case, we regard the reduced quasi-BPS categories as noncommutative local hyperk\"ahler varieties, and as (twisted) categorical versions of crepant resolutions of singularities of good moduli spaces of representations of preprojective algebras. The studied categories include the local models of quasi-BPS categories of K3 surfaces. We construct semiorthogonal decompositions of Donaldson-Thomas (DT) categories for reduced curve classes on local surfaces into products of quasi-BPS categories and Pandharipande-Thomas (PT) categories, giving a categorical analogue of the numerical DT/PT correspondence for Calabi-Yau 3-folds. The main ingredient is a categorical wall-crossing formula for DT/PT quivers (which appear as Ext-quivers in the DT/PT wall-crossing) proved in our previous paper. In this paper, we prove the categorical wall-crossing formula for certain quivers containing the three loop quiver, which we call DT/PT quivers. These quivers appear as Ext-quivers for the wall-crossing of DT/PT moduli spaces on Calabi-Yau 3-folds. The resulting formula is a semiorthogonal decomposition which involves quasi-BPS categories studied in our previous papers, and we regard it as a categorical analogue of the numerical DT/PT correspondence. Quasi-BPS categories appear as summands in semiorthogonal decompositions of DT categories for Hilbert schemes of points in the three dimensional affine space and in the categorical Hall algebra of the two dimensional affine space. In this paper, we prove several properties of quasi-BPS categories analogous to BPS sheaves in cohomological DT theory. We first prove a categorical analogue of Davison's support lemma, namely that complexes in the quasi-BPS categories for coprime length and weight are supported over the small diagonal in the symmetric product of the three dimensional affine space. The categorical support lemma is used to determine the torsion-free generator of the torus equivariant K-theory of the quasi-BPS category of coprime length and weight. We next construct a bialgebra structure on the torsion free equivariant K-theory of quasi-BPS categories for a fixed ratio of length and weight. We define the K-theoretic BPS space as the space of primitive elements with respect to the coproduct. We prove the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions of derived categories of Quot schemes of zero-dimensional quotients on curves in terms of derived categories of symmetric products of curves. The above result is a categorical analogue of a similar formula for the class of Quot schemes in the Grothendieck ring of varieties by Bagnarol-Fantechi-Perroni. It is a special case of a more general Quot formula of relative dimension one, which is regarded as a Bosonic counterpart of the Quot formula conjectured by Jiang and proved by the author. As an analogy to Gopakumar-Vafa conjecture on Calabi-Yau 3-folds, Klemm-Pandharipande defined Gopakumar-Vafa type invariants of a Calabi-Yau 4-fold $X$ using Gromov-Witten theory. When $X$ is holomorphic symplectic, Gromov-Witten invariants vanish and one can consider the corresponding reduced theory. In a companion work, we propose a definition of Gopakumar-Vafa type invariants for such a reduced theory. Using reduced Gromov-Witten theory, we define new invariants which capture the enumerative geometry of curves on holomorphic symplectic 4-folds. The invariants are analogous to the BPS counts of Gopakumar and Vafa for Calabi-Yau 3-folds, Klemm and Pandharipande for Calabi-Yau 4-folds, Pandharipande and Zinger for Calabi-Yau 5-folds. We conjecture that our invariants are integers and give a sheaf-theoretic interpretation in terms of reduced $4$-dimensional Donaldson-Thomas invariants of one-dimensional stable sheaves. We check our conjectures for the product of two $K3$ surfaces and for the cotangent bundle of $\mathbb{P}^2$. Modulo the conjectural holomorphic anomaly equation, we compute our invariants also for the Hilbert scheme of two points on a $K3$ surface. This yields a conjectural formula for the number of isolated genus $2$ curves of minimal degree on a very general hyperk\"ahler $4$-fold of $K3^{[2]}$-type. The formula may be viewed as a $4$-dimensional analogue of the classical Yau-Zaslow formula concerning counts of rational curves on $K3$ surfaces. In the course of our computations, we also derive a new closed formula for the Fujiki constants of the Chern classes of tangent bundles of both Hilbert schemes of points on $K3$ surfaces and generalized Kummer varieties., Comment: 53 pages

We show the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions of Donaldson-Thomas categories for $(-1)$-shifted cotangent derived stacks associated with $\Theta$-stratifications on them. Our main result gives an analogue of window theorem for categorical DT theory, which has applications to d-critical analogue of D/K equivalence conjecture, i.e. existence of fully-faithful functors (equivalences) under d-critical flips (flops). We prove two kinds of $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic Koszul duality equivalences for triangulated categories of matrix factorizations associated with $(-1)$-shifted cotangents over quasi-smooth affine derived schemes. We use this result to define $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic version of Donaldson-Thomas categories for local surfaces, whose $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant version was introduced and developed in the author's previous paper. Nagao-Nakajima introduced counting invariants of stable perverse coherent systems on small resolutions of Calabi-Yau 3-folds and determined them on the resolved conifold. Their invariants recover DT/PT invariants and Szendr\"oi's non-commutative invariants in some chambers of stability conditions. In this paper, we study an analogue of their work on Calabi-Yau 4-folds. We define counting invariants for stable perverse coherent systems using primary insertions and compute them in all chambers of stability conditions. We also study counting invariants of local resolved conifold $\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1,-1,0)$ defined using torus localization and tautological insertions. Let $X$ be a Calabi-Yau 4-fold and $D$ a smooth divisor on it. We consider tautological complex associated with $L=\mathcal{O}_X(D)$ on the moduli space of Le Potier stable pairs and define its counting invariant by integrating the Euler class against the virtual class. We conjecture a formula for their generating series expressed using genus zero Gopakumar-Vafa invariants of $D$ and genus one Gopakumar-Vafa type invariants of $X$, which we verify in several examples. When $X$ is the local resolved conifold, our conjecture reproduces a conjectural formula of Cao-Kool-Monavari in the PT chamber. In this paper, we prove a window theorem for categorical Donaldson-Thomas theories on local surfaces as an analogue of window theorem for GIT quotient stacks. We give two applications of our main result. The first one is a proof of wall-crossing equivalences of DT categories for one dimensional stable sheave on local surfaces, under some technical condition on strictly semistable sheaves. The second one is to show the existence of fully-faithful functors from categorical PT theories to categorical MNOP theories, when the curve class is reduced. The Gopakumar-Vafa type invariants on Calabi-Yau 4-folds (which are non-trivial only for genus zero and one) are defined by Klemm-Pandharipande from Gromov-Witten theory, and their integrality is conjectured. In a previous work of Cao-Maulik-Toda, $\mathrm{DT}_4$ invariants with primary insertions on moduli spaces of one dimensional stable sheaves are used to give a sheaf theoretical interpretation of the genus zero GV type invariants. In this paper, we propose a sheaf theoretical interpretation of the genus one GV type invariants using descendent insertions on the above moduli spaces. We show that the categorified cohomological Hall algebra structures on surfaces constructed by Porta-Sala descend to those on Donaldson-Thomas categories on local surfaces introduced in the author's previous paper. A similar argument also shows that Pandharipande-Thomas categories on local surfaces admit actions of categorified COHA for zero dimensional sheaves on surfaces. We also construct annihilator actions of its simple operators, and show that their commutator in the K-theory satisfies the relation similar to the one of Weyl algebras. In our previous paper with Maulik, we proposed a conjectural Gopakumar-Vafa (GV) type formula for the generating series of stable pair invariants on Calabi-Yau (CY) 4-folds. The purpose of this paper is to give an interpretation of the above GV type formula in terms of wall-crossing phenomena in the derived category. We introduce invariants counting LePotier's stable pairs on CY 4-folds, and show that they count certain stable objects in D0-D2-D8 bound states in the derived category. We propose a conjectural wall-crossing formula for the generating series of our invariants, which recovers the conjectural GV type formula. We develope $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant categorical Donaldson-Thomas theory for local surfaces, i.e. the total spaces of canonical line bundles on smooth projective surfaces. We introduce $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant DT categories for local surfaces as Verdier quotients of derived categories of coherent sheaves on derived moduli stacks of coherent sheaves on surfaces, by subcategories of objects whose singular supports are contained in unstable loci. Via Koszul duality, our construction may be regarded as certain gluing of $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant derived categories of factorizations. We also develope $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant DT theory for stable D0-D2-D6 bound states on local surfaces, including categorical Pandharipande-Thomas theory. The key result toward the construction is the description of the stack of D0-D2-D6 bound states on the local surface as the dual obstruction cone over the moduli stack of pairs on the surface. We propose several conjectures on wall-crossing of PT categories, motivated by categorifications of wall-crossing formula of PT invariants and d-critical analogue of D/K equivalence conjecture in birational geometry. We establish three ways toward the categorical wall-crossing conjecture: semiorthogonal decomposition via linear Koszul duality, window theorem for DT categories, and categorified Hall products. We show that the moduli spaces of Thaddeus pairs on smooth projective curves and those of dual pairs are related by d-critical flips, which are virtual birational transformations introduced by the second author. We then prove the existence of fully-faithful functors between derived categories of coherent sheaves on these moduli spaces. We study the reduced Donaldson-Thomas theory of abelian threefolds using Bridgeland stability conditions. The main result is the invariance of the reduced Donaldson-Thomas invariants under all derived autoequivalences, up to explicitly given wall-crossing terms. We also present a numerical criterion for the absence of walls in terms of a discriminant function. For principally polarized abelian threefolds of Picard rank one, the wall-crossing contributions are discussed in detail. The discussion yield evidence for a conjectural formula for curve counting invariants by Bryan, Pandharipande, Yin, and the first author. For the proof we strengthen several known results on Bridgeland stability conditions of abelian threefolds. We show that certain previously constructed stability conditions satisfy the full support property. In particular, the stability manifold is non-empty. We also prove the existence of a Gieseker chamber and determine all wall-crossing contributions. We show the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions (SOD) of Pandharipande-Thomas (PT) stable pair moduli spaces on Calabi-Yau 3-folds with irreducible curve classes, assuming relevant moduli spaces are non-singular. The above result is motivated by categorifications of wall-crossing formula of PT invariants in the derived category, and also a d-critical analogue of Bondal-Orlov, Kawamata's D/K equivalence conjecture. The notion of d-critical loci was introduced by Joyce in order to give classical shadows of $(-1)$-shifted symplectic derived schemes. In this paper, we discuss birational geometry for d-critical loci, by introducing notions such as `d-critical flips', `d-critical flops', etc. They are not birational maps of the underlying spaces, but rather should be understood as virtual birational maps. We show that several wall-crossing phenomena of moduli spaces of stable objects on Calabi-Yau 3-folds are described in terms of d-critical birational geometry. Among them, we show that wall-crossing diagrams of Pandharipande-Thomas (PT) stable pair moduli spaces, which are relevant in showing the rationality of PT generating series, form a d-critical minimal model program., Comment: 72 pages

We show that the moduli stacks of semistable sheaves on smooth projective varieties are analytic locally on their coarse moduli spaces described in terms of representations of the associated Ext-quivers with convergent relations. When the underlying variety is a Calabi-Yau 3-fold, our result describes the above moduli stacks as critical locus analytic locally on the coarse moduli spaces. In this paper, we generalize a mathematical definition of Gopakumar-Vafa (GV) invariants on Calabi-Yau 3-folds introduced by Maulik and the author, using an analogue of BPS sheaves introduced by Davison-Meinhardt on the coarse moduli spaces of one dimensional twisted semistable sheaves with arbitrary holomorphic Euler characteristics. We show that our generalized GV invariants are independent of twisted stability conditions, and conjecture that they are also independent of holomorphic Euler characteristics, so that they define the same GV invariants. In this paper, we propose an ansatz for defining Gopakumar-Vafa invariants of Calabi-Yau threefolds, using perverse sheaves of vanishing cycles. Our proposal is a modification of a recent approach of Kiem-Li, which is itself based on earlier ideas of Hosono-Saito-Takahashi. We conjecture that these invariants are equivalent to other curve-counting theories such as Gromov-Witten theory and Pandharipande-Thomas theory. Our main theorem is that, for local surfaces, our invariants agree with PT invariants for irreducible one-cycles. We also give a counter-example to the Kiem-Li conjectures, where our invariants match the predicted answer. We remark that the combination of the works of Ben-Bassat-Brav-Bussi-Joyce and Alper-Hall-Rydh imply the conjectured local description of the moduli stacks of semi-Schur objects in the derived category of coherent sheaves on projective Calabi-Yau 3-folds. This result was assumed in the author's previous papers to apply wall-crossing formulas of DT type invariants in the derived category, e.g. DT/PT correspondence, rationality, etc. We also show that the above result is applied to prove the higher rank version of DT/PT correspondence and rationality., Comment: 27 pages
