1. KIC 4150611: A quadruply eclipsing heptuple star system with a g-mode period-spacing pattern Asteroseismic modelling of the g-mode period-spacing pattern

Abstract: In this work, we aim to estimate the stellar parameters of the primary (Aa) by performing asteroseismic analysis on its period-spacing pattern. We use the C-3PO neural network to perform asteroseismic modelling of the g-mode period-spacing pattern of Aa, discussing the interplay of this information with external constraints from spectroscopy ($T_{\rm eff}$ and $\log(g)$) and eclipse modelling ($R$). To estimate the level of uncertainty due to different frequency extraction and pattern identification processes, we consider four different variations on the period-spacing patterns. To better understand the correlations between and the uncertainty structure of our parameter estimates, we also employed a classical, parameter-based MCMC grid search on four different stellar grids. The best-fitting, externally constrained model to the period-spacing pattern arrives at estimates of the stellar properties for Aa of: $M=1.51 \pm 0.05 M_\odot$, $X_c =0.43 \pm 0.04$, $R=1.66 \pm 0.1 R_\odot$, $f_{\rm ov}=0.010$, $\Omega_c=1.58 \pm 0.01$ d$^{-1}$ with rigid rotation to within the measurement errors, $\log(T_{\rm eff})=3.856 \pm 0.008$ dex, $\log(g)=4.18 \pm 0.04$ dex, and $\log(L)=0.809 \pm 0.005$ dex, which agree well with previous measurements from eclipse modelling, spectroscopy, and the Gaia DR3 luminosity. We find that the near-core properties of the best-fitting asteroseismic models are consistent with external constraints from eclipse modelling and spectroscopy. Aa appears to be a typical example of a $\gamma$ Dor star, fitting well within existing populations. We find that Aa is quasi-rigidly rotating to within the uncertainties, and note that the asteroseismic age estimate for Aa (1100 $\pm$ 100 Myr) is considerably older than the young (35 Myr) age implied by previous isochrone fits to the B binary in the literature. Abstract: This article presents the timing performance of materials with fast light emission, tested as Minimum Ionizing Particle detectors using 150 GeV hadron beams in Monte Carlo simulations and at the CERN SPS North Area. Pixels of cross-section 2 x 2 mm2 or 3 x 3 mm2 and length of 3 or 10 mm were coupled to Hamamatsu SiPM and read out by fast high-frequency electronics. Materials whose timing performance relies on Cherenkov emission, namely BGSO, PWO, and PbF2, achieved time resolutions in the range 24-36ps. Scintillators as L(Y)SO:Ce, GAGG, and BaF2 reached below 15 ps, the best topping at 12.1 +/- 0.4 ps. These fast materials are compared to LYSO and their additional benefit is discussed. Given the promising results of BaF2, the study is completed with measurements of the scintillation properties of a set doped with yttrium to quench the slow light emission.

3. HD 34736: An intensely magnetised double-lined spectroscopic binary with rapidly-rotating chemically peculiar B-type components

Abstract: We report the results of a comprehensive study of the spectroscopic binary (SB2) system HD 34736 hosting two chemically peculiar (CP) late B-type stars. Using new and archival observational data, we characterise the system and its components, including their rotation and magnetic fields. Fitting of the radial velocities yields $P_\mathrm{orb}=83.\!^\mathrm{d}219(3)$ and $e=0.8103(3)$. The primary component is a CP He-wk star with $T_{\mathrm{eff}A}=13000\pm500$ K and $\upsilon_\mathrm{e}\sin i\;=75\pm3$ km/s, while the secondary exhibits variability of Mg and Si lines, and has $T_{\mathrm{eff}B}=11500\pm1000$ K and $\upsilon_\mathrm{e}\sin i=110$-180 km/s. TESS and KELT photometry reveal clear variability of the primary component with a rotational period $P_{\mathrm{rot}A}=1.\!^\mathrm{d}279\,988\,5(11)$, which is lengthening at a rate of $1.26(6)$ s/yr. For the secondary, $P_{\mathrm{rot}B}=0.\!^\mathrm{d}522\,693\,8(5)$, reducing at a rate of $-0.14(3)$ s/yr. The longitudinal component $\langle B_\mathrm{z}\rangle$ of the primary's strongly asymmetric global magnetic field varies from $-6$ to +5 kG. Weak spectropolarimetric evidence of a magnetic field is found for the secondary star. The observed X-ray and radio emission of HD 34736 may equally be linked to a suspected T Tau-like companion or magnetospheric emission from the principal components. Given the presence of a possible third magnetically active body, one can propose that the magnetic characteristics of the protostellar environment may be connected to the formation of such systems., Comment: This preprint has 28 pages, 23 figures, and includes the complete version of Table 1. 4. Exploring x-ray irradiation conditions for triggering ultrafast diamond graphitization

Abstract: Intense femtosecond x-ray pulses produced by an x-ray free-electron laser can trigger irreversible structural transitions in crystalline solids. For instance, irradiation of diamond can lead to graphitization and, at higher deposited doses, to amorphization. Our Monte Carlo simulations of irradiated diamond under realistic experimental conditions demonstrate that triggering graphitization or other phase transitions with hard x-ray photons can be challenging due to the ballistic escape of photoelectrons out of the beam focus. Decisive parameter here is the photoelectron range in proportion to the focal beam size. For future experiments on x-ray-induced transitions, such dedicated simulations of ballistic transport preceding the beamtime will be necessary. They can predict experimental conditions under which the desired distribution of the absorbed x-ray dose in the irradiated solid can be achieved., Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures, 1 table. 5. Statistical view of orbital circularisation with 14 000 characterised TESS eclipsing binaries

Abstract: Eclipsing binaries are crucial for understanding stellar physics, allowing detailed studies of stellar masses, radii, and orbital dynamics. Recent space missions like the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) have significantly expanded the catalogue of observed eclipsing binaries with uninterrupted time series photometry, providing an opportunity for large-scale ensemble studies. This study aims to analyse the statistical properties of circularisation in a large sample of intermediate-to-high mass eclipsing binaries observed by TESS. We explore the dependence of orbital circularisation on stellar properties and orbital parameters to improve our understanding of the physical processes affecting these systems. We further aim to assess the role of stellar pulsations in circularisation. We compiled a catalogue of O- to F-type stars to search for eclipsing binary signals in the TESS data. Using automated classification and data analysis methodologies, we arrive at a well-characterised sample of 14,573 eclipsing binaries. We investigate the statistical characteristics of the sample as a function of temperature, orbital period, and scaled orbital separation. The orbital circularisation was measured with statistical methods to obtain three distinct measurements of the critical period and separation in four temperature ranges. Pulsations were identified in the g- and p-mode regimes and a reduced fraction of eccentric systems was found among them. Our analysis confirmed and expanded upon previous findings that additional dissipation is needed as compared to the predictions of turbulent viscosity and non-resonant radiative damping. We speculate that pulsations may play a role in the circularisation of close binaries. Abstract: Nucleation and growth is studied in a system undergoing diffusion-controlled condensation under gradual changes in parameters, such as cooling. It is demonstrated that when Gibbs-Thompson effect becomes negligible, the system falls into a universal regime. i.e. the final droplet size distribution remains invariant under certain rescaling of system parameters. As AI becomes increasingly central to banking operations, its energy-intensive processes contribute significantly to carbon emissions, posing environmental, regulatory, and reputational risks. Regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and the Prudential Regulation Authority's SS1/23 are driving banks to incorporate environmental considerations into their AI model governance. Recent advancements in AI research, like the Open Mixture-of-Experts (OLMoE) framework and the Agentic RAG framework, offer more efficient and dynamic AI models, reducing their carbon footprint without compromising performance. Using these technological examples, the paper outlines a structured approach for banks to identify, assess, and mitigate AI's carbon footprint within their RMFs, including adopting energy-efficient models, utilising green cloud computing, and implementing lifecycle management.

8. The ESO UVES/FEROS Large Programs of TESS OB pulsators. II. On the physical origin of macroturbulence

Abstract: Spectral lines of hot massive stars are known to exhibit large excess broadening in addition to rotational broadening. This excess broadening is often attributed to macroturbulence whose physical origin is a matter of active debate in the stellar astrophysics community. By looking into the statistical properties of a large sample of O- and B-type stars, both in the Galaxy and LMC, we aim to shed light on the physical origin of macroturbulent line broadening. We deliver newly measured macroturbulent velocities for 86 stars from the Galaxy in a consistent manner with 126 stars from the LMC. A total sample of 594 O- and B-type stars with measured macroturbulent velocities was composed by complementing our sample with archival data. Furthermore, we compute an extensive grid of MESA models to compare, in a statistical manner, the predicted interior properties of stars (such as convection and wave propagation) with the inference of macroturbulent velocities from high-resolution spectroscopic observations. We find the presence of two principally different regimes where, depending on the initial stellar mass, different mechanisms may be responsible for the observed excess line broadening. Stars with initial masses above some 30$M_{\odot}$ are found to have macroturbulent velocities fully determined by subsurface convective zones formed in the iron opacity bump (FeCZ), while some other mechanism is required to explain observations for masses below 12$M_{\odot}$. The latter finding leaves the potential for waves generated at the interface of the convective core and radiative envelope of the star to be responsible for the observed macroturbulent broadening. 9. Ultrafast modulation of guided-mode resonance in a nonlinear silicon nitride grating

Abstract: Nonlinear optical interactions in nanostructures are subjects of both fundamental research and practical applications. The optical Kerr effect, a third-order nonlinear optical phenomenon, induces anisotropic changes in the refractive index of a material under intense laser illumination. This effect is inherently weak, limiting its practical use in free-space nanophotonics. In this work, we demonstrate an enhancement of the optical Kerr effect by more than three orders of magnitude using guided-mode resonance in a dielectric diffraction grating with an overall thickness of less than 300 nm. Our study involves the design, fabrication, and measurement of the transmittance of a resonant silicon nitride crossed grating illuminated with short light pulses. We observe spectral resonance shifts with varying pulse power, leading to more than fifty percent modulation of the resonance magnitude and enabling transitions between `Off' and `On' states of transmission. We also demonstrate the capability of the grating for dynamic pulse shaping. The results presented here reveal promising directions for developing advanced all-optical devices based on free-space nanophotonics.

Abstract: Results are presented for the measurement of large-scale anisotropies in the arrival directions of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays detected at the Pierre Auger Observatory during 19 years of operation, prior to AugerPrime, the upgrade of the Observatory. The 3D dipole amplitude and direction are reconstructed above $4\,$EeV in four energy bins. Besides the established dipolar anisotropy in right ascension above $8\,$EeV, the Fourier amplitude of the $8$ to $16\,$EeV energy bin is now also above the $5\sigma$ discovery level. No time variation of the dipole moment above $8\,$EeV is found, setting an upper limit to the rate of change of such variations of $0.3\%$ per year at the $95\%$ confidence level. Additionally, the results for the angular power spectrum are shown, demonstrating no other statistically significant multipoles. The results for the equatorial dipole component down to $0.03\,$EeV are presented, using for the first time a data set obtained with a trigger that has been optimized for lower energies. Finally, model predictions are discussed and compared with observations, based on two source emission scenarios obtained in the combined fit of spectrum and composition above $0.6\,$EeV., Comment: Minor modifications, accepted for publication in Astrophysical Journal

11. Lyapunov function and smooth periodic solutions to quasilinear 1D hyperbolic systems

Abstract: We apply a Lyapunov function to obtain conditions for the existence and uniqueness of small classical time-periodic solutions to first order quasilinear 1D hyperbolic systems with (nonlinear) nonlocal boundary conditions in a strip. The boundary conditions cover different types of reflections from the boundary as well as integral operators with delays. In the first step we use a Lyapunov approach to derive sufficient conditions for the robust exponential stability of the boundary value problems for a linear(ized) homogeneous problem. Under those conditions and a number of non-resonance conditions, in the second step we prove the existence and uniqueness of smooth time-periodic solutions to the corresponding linear nonhomogeneous problems. In the third step, we prove a perturbation theorem stating that the periodic solutions survive under small perturbations of all coefficients of the hyperbolic system. In the last step, we apply the linear results to construct small and smooth time-periodic solutions to the quasilinear problems., Comment: 34 pages

Abstract: Ultra-high-energy cosmic rays are known to be mainly of extragalactic origin, and their propagation is limited by energy losses, so their arrival directions are expected to correlate with the large-scale structure of the local Universe. In this work, we investigate the possible presence of intermediate-scale excesses in the flux of the most energetic cosmic rays from the direction of the supergalactic plane region using events with energies above 20 EeV recorded with the surface detector array of the Pierre Auger Observatory up to 31 December 2022, with a total exposure of 135,000 km^2 sr yr. The strongest indication for an excess that we find, with a post-trial significance of 3.1{\sigma}, is in the Centaurus region, as in our previous reports, and it extends down to lower energies than previously studied. We do not find any strong hints of excesses from any other region of the supergalactic plane at the same angular scale. In particular, our results do not confirm the reports by the Telescope Array collaboration of excesses from two regions in the Northern Hemisphere at the edge of the field of view of the Pierre Auger Observatory. Abstract: The article notes that the positive reputation of enterprises in an unstable and unpredictable competitive environment becomes an important means of strengthening their market position, as it provides additional competitive advantages, facilitates access to business resources and protects their economic interests. It is emphasized that foreign companies successfully apply reputation management models. It is stated that most Ukrainian enterprises still use only a fragmented system of reputation risk management, which does not allow monitoring promptly them and taking timely measures to prevent or minimize them. The importance of reputational audit as a tool for managing the competitiveness of the enterprise is emphasized. The lack of uniform approaches to the interpretation of the concept of “reputational audit” is emphasized. The diversity of interpretation of the concept of “reputational audit” is unified and the scientific thesaurus is supplemented by the author's definition of this concept, formed by the functional approach, according to which “reputational audit” should be understood as the image study of the life of the reputation entity, aimed at assessing the reputational environment of its operation and identify key factors of reputational risk in order to timely adjust communication methods and make consensus decisions to improve relationships with stakeholders and successful business development. The types of reputational audit are considered and their distinctive features are briefly described. The etapology of reputation audit is offered and the characteristic of each of its stages is given: preparatory (organizational) stage; research stage and the final stage. It is proved that the introduction of the submitted proposals on the stage of reputational audit will contribute to the effective management of reputational risks and, accordingly, the competitiveness of enterprises.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the role of diagnosis in making informed management decisions to increase the stability and efficiency of the business entity. Diagnosis is the process of assessing the condition of an object, subject, phenomenon, or management process. Diagnosis allows you to identify "bottlenecks" and weaknesses. Diagnosis includes the process of recognizing and identifying negative (crisis) situations and phenomena in business on the basis of certain dependencies, local changes in the current activities of the enterprise. Diagnosis is not a one-time procedure and requires systematic implementation. The effectiveness of the diagnosis is determined by experience. The use of complex analysis diagnostics of the enterprise allows to assess the impact of external and internal environment on the results of financial activities of the enterprise. This diagnosis is based on the use of the R-analysis method and the DuPont method. With the help of R-analysis it is possible to estimate the change of financial indicators in dynamics; perform express-diagnostics and complex diagnostics. At the same time, the weak points of the enterprise's activity are recognized in advance and the necessary measures are taken to eliminate them. DuPont diagnosis allows to ensure the harmonization of sources of formation of stocks and costs for making sound strategic and tactical management decisions. Also, this diagnostic allows you to take into account the financial situation in the market of the enterprise. Abstract: The article discusses the process of finding innovative approaches to increasing profitability. This is an important task today. Approaches to the formation of the profitability of an industrial enterprise and the determination of the primary aspects of its management are an actual problem of today. Research of the processes for the formation and use of the profits of an industrial enterprise, and its capitalization have been covered in the works of many scientists. Business entities have clear pre-conditions for determining the levers of effective profit management. Profit is a reward to the owner for the risks, for his services, for the capital invested in the enterprise, as well as for the implementation of organizational and economic measures. In the historical aspect, the evolution of profit theories has been carried out in many directions. In order to manage profits efficiently, management information must be comprehensive. It should take into account both external and internal relevant data. It is also necessary to disclose the volume and scope of capitalization at the strategic stage of enterprise development. Today's concept of business economics is not based on the study of profit directly, as a static sign of company performance. Capitalization is the process by which the value of an enterprise is formed, that is, the conversion of assets into new capital. In a particular sector of the economy, “capitalization” is understood as the transformation of a part of profit or all profit into company assets. Many-sided nature determination of term "capitalization" is explained objective connection of this phenomenon with a social and economic sphere, and also attempt to cast light in his features from positions of different scientific approaches. Nowadays, tasks in the field of administrative decisions are becoming more complicated in the economy. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet the resource needs of enterprizes. Abstract: Economic crises affect trade volumes and the stability of the national financial system. In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic and the emergence of crisis phenomena in the economy, it is actual to look for directions of trade development in the present conditions. The features, problems and prospects of global and domestic e-commerce market development are investigated in the paper. Electronic trade volumes are growing steadily. It is substantiated that Ukraine has the potential to expand the scope of electronic trade. Modern information technologies can be effective for increasing the profitability of trading enterprises. Problems of functioning of electronic trade need to analyze new trends and developments in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to analyze the potential of development of e-commerce in general and to study the features of e-money in the current conditions. Ukraine's electronic trade market is small compared to world leaders. However, the growth rate of Ukraine's electronic trade market is similar to that of developed countries. E-money can play an important role in e-commerce. Decentralized electronic currencies compete with fiat money. At the same time, the potential of e-currencies can give impetus to the development of electronic trade. Electronic money is nowadays compared to the creation of digital analogues of gold. Also used in the scientific literature are the terms virtual currency, hybrid money, money surrogate, cryptocurrency, claims, private electronic money, speculative financial instrument, financial pyramid, digital analogue of raw materials and precious metals. Trading by electronic means of payment has the prospect of business expansion. In a viral epidemic, the National Bank of Ukraine recommends minimizing cash use. Many businesses are moving to electronic trade. Crisis phenomena are actually accelerating the implementation of effective directions for long-term electronic trade development strategies. An analysis of the growth rates of electronic trade volumes shows that the growth rates in Ukraine are approaching the global average. This situation may be associated with an increase in Internet distribution in Ukraine. Ukraine's electronic trade market demonstrates sustainable development potential. It can be hypothesized that trends in the development of the electronic trade market may change due to internal and external factors. The potential of electronic trade market can be estimated at 1-3% of annual growth of electronic trade.

17. Quantum magnetic oscillations in the absence of closed electron trajectories

Abstract: Quantum magnetic oscillations in crystals are typically understood in terms of Bohr-Sommerfeld quantisation, the frequency of oscillation is given by the area of a closed electron trajectory. However, since the 1970s, oscillations have been observed with frequencies that do not correspond to closed electron trajectories and this effect has remained not fully understood. Previous theory has focused on explaining the effect using various kinetic mechanisms, however, frequencies without a closed electron orbit have been observed in equilibrium and so a kinetic mechanism cannot be the entire story. In this work we develop a theory which explains these frequencies in equilibrium and can thus be used to understand measurements of both Shubnikov-de Haas and de Haas-van Alphen oscillations. We show, analytically, that these frequencies arise due to multi-electron correlations. We then extend our theory to explain a recent experiment on artificial crystals in GaAs two-dimensional electron gases, which revealed for the first time magnetic oscillations having frequencies that are half of those previously observed. We show that the half-frequencies arise in equilibrium from single-particle dynamics with account of impurities. Zaporizhzhya region is an attractive investment area with a developed industrial complex and infrastructure. In accordance with the Regional development strategy of the Zaporizhzhya region for the period until 2020, the main strategic goals are to stimulate investment attraction, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the development of domestic tourism. The purpose of the research is to clarify the essence of the category “tourist cluster”, determine the characteristics of the tourist potential of the Zaporizhzhya region, form a SWOT-analysis of the tourist cluster of the Zaporizhzhya region, develop new and improve the existing directions of tourist routes as part of the Zaporizhzhya region development Strategy for the period until 2020. The indicators of the tourist industry of the city of Zaporozhye are analyzed. Tourist routes for a duration of 2 days by thematic species are proposed. The article suggests directions for the further development of the tourism cluster of the Zaporizhzhya region. In particular, the travel product “Travel to Zaporizhzhya Region / “Welcome to Zaporizhzhia Land” with the corresponding routes. 21. Tuning the bandstructure of electrons in a two-dimensional artificial electrostatic crystal in GaAs quantum wells

Abstract: The electronic properties of solids are determined by the crystal structure and interactions between electrons, giving rise to a variety of collective phenomena including superconductivity, strange metals and correlated insulators. The mechanisms underpinning many of these collective phenomena remain unknown, driving interest in creating artificial crystals which replicate the system of interest while allowing precise control of key parameters. Cold atoms trapped in optical lattices provide great flexibility and tunability [1, 2], but cannot replicate the long range Coulomb interactions and long range hopping that drive collective phenomena in real crystals. Solid state approaches support long range hopping and interactions, but previous attempts with laterally patterned semiconductor systems were not able to create tunable low disorder artificial crystals, while approaches based on Moire superlattices in twisted two-dimensional (2D) materials [3, 4] have limited tunability and control of lattice geometry. Here we demonstrate the formation of highly tunable artificial crystals by superimposing a periodic electrostatic potential on the 2D electron gas in an ultrashallow (25 nm deep) GaAs quantum well. The 100 nm period artificial crystal is identified by the formation of a new bandstructure, different from the original cubic crystal and unique to the artificial triangular lattice: transport measurements show the Hall coefficient changing sign as the chemical potential sweeps through the artificial bands. Uniquely, the artificial bandstructure can be continuously tuned from parabolic free-electron bands into linear graphene-like and flat kagome-like bands in a single device. 22. Geometric Tuning of Coordinatively Unsaturated Copper(I) Sites in Metal-Organic Frameworks for Ambient-Temperature Hydrogen Storage.

Abstract: Porous solids can accommodate and release molecular hydrogen readily, making them attractive for minimizing the energy requirements for hydrogen storage relative to physical storage systems. However, H2 adsorption enthalpies in such materials are generally weak (-3 to -7 kJ/mol), lowering capacities at ambient temperature. Metal-organic frameworks with well-defined structures and synthetic modularity could allow for tuning adsorbent-H2 interactions for ambient-temperature storage. Recently, Cu2.2Zn2.8Cl1.8(btdd)3 (H2btdd = bis(1H-1,2,3-triazolo-[4,5-b],[4,5-i])dibenzo[1,4]dioxin; CuI-MFU-4l) was reported to show a large H2 adsorption enthalpy of -32 kJ/mol owing to π-backbonding from CuI to H2, exceeding the optimal binding strength for ambient-temperature storage (-15 to -25 kJ/mol). Toward realizing optimal H2 binding, we sought to modulate the π-backbonding interactions by tuning the pyramidal geometry of the trigonal CuI sites. A series of isostructural frameworks, Cu2.7M2.3X1.3(btdd)3 (M = Mn, Cd; X = Cl, I; CuIM-MFU-4l), was synthesized through postsynthetic modification of the corresponding materials M5X4(btdd)3 (M = Mn, Cd; X = CH3CO2, I). This strategy adjusts the H2 adsorption enthalpy at the CuI sites according to the ionic radius of the central metal ion of the pentanuclear cluster node, leading to -33 kJ/mol for M = ZnII (0.74 Å), -27 kJ/mol for M = MnII (0.83 Å), and -23 kJ/mol for M = CdII (0.95 Å). Thus, CuICd-MFU-4l provides a second, more stable example of optimal H2 binding energy for ambient-temperature storage among reported metal-organic frameworks. Structural, computational, and spectroscopic studies indicate that a larger central metal planarizes trigonal CuI sites, weakening the π-backbonding to H2.

Abstract: The Pierre Auger Observatory is the most sensitive instrument to detect photons with energies above $10^{17}$ eV. It measures extensive air showers generated by ultra high energy cosmic rays using a hybrid technique that exploits the combination of a fluorescence detector with a ground array of particle detectors. The signatures of a photon-induced air shower are a larger atmospheric depth of the shower maximum ($X_{max}$) and a steeper lateral distribution function, along with a lower number of muons with respect to the bulk of hadron-induced cascades. In this work, a new analysis technique in the energy interval between 1 and 30 EeV (1 EeV = $10^{18}$ eV) has been developed by combining the fluorescence detector-based measurement of $X_{max}$ with the specific features of the surface detector signal through a parameter related to the air shower muon content, derived from the universality of the air shower development. No evidence of a statistically significant signal due to photon primaries was found using data collected in about 12 years of operation. Thus, upper bounds to the integral photon flux have been set using a detailed calculation of the detector exposure, in combination with a data-driven background estimation. The derived 95% confidence level upper limits are 0.0403, 0.01113, 0.0035, 0.0023, and 0.0021 km$^{-2}$ sr$^{-1}$ yr$^{-1}$ above 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10 EeV, respectively, leading to the most stringent upper limits on the photon flux in the EeV range. Compared with past results, the upper limits were improved by about 40% for the lowest energy threshold and by a factor 3 above 3 EeV, where no candidates were found and the expected background is negligible. The presented limits can be used to probe the assumptions on chemical composition of ultra-high energy cosmic rays and allow for the constraint of the mass and lifetime phase space of super-heavy dark matter particles., Comment: 19 pages, 22 figures

Abstract: We report an investigation of the mass composition of cosmic rays with energies from 3 to 100 EeV (1 EeV=$10^{18}$ eV) using the distributions of the depth of shower maximum $X_\mathrm{max}$. The analysis relies on ${\sim}50,000$ events recorded by the Surface Detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory and a deep-learning-based reconstruction algorithm. Above energies of 5 EeV, the data set offers a 10-fold increase in statistics with respect to fluorescence measurements at the Observatory. After cross-calibration using the Fluorescence Detector, this enables the first measurement of the evolution of the mean and the standard deviation of the $X_\mathrm{max}$ distributions up to 100 EeV. Our findings are threefold: (1.) The evolution of the mean logarithmic mass towards a heavier composition with increasing energy can be confirmed and is extended to 100 EeV. (2.) The evolution of the fluctuations of $X_\mathrm{max}$ towards a heavier and purer composition with increasing energy can be confirmed with high statistics. We report a rather heavy composition and small fluctuations in $X_\mathrm{max}$ at the highest energies. (3.) We find indications for a characteristic structure beyond a constant change in the mean logarithmic mass, featuring three breaks that are observed in proximity to the ankle, instep, and suppression features in the energy spectrum., Comment: submitted to Phys. Abstract: We present measurements of the atmospheric depth of the shower maximum $X_\mathrm{max}$, inferred for the first time on an event-by-event level using the Surface Detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory. Using deep learning, we were able to extend measurements of the $X_\mathrm{max}$ distributions up to energies of 100 EeV ($10^{20}$ eV), not yet revealed by current measurements, providing new insights into the mass composition of cosmic rays at extreme energies. Gaining a 10-fold increase in statistics compared to the Fluorescence Detector data, we find evidence that the rate of change of the average $X_\mathrm{max}$ with the logarithm of energy features three breaks at $6.5\pm0.6~(\mathrm{stat})\pm1~(\mathrm{sys})$ EeV, $11\pm 2~(\mathrm{stat})\pm1~(\mathrm{sys})$ EeV, and $31\pm5~(\mathrm{stat})\pm3~(\mathrm{sys})$ EeV, in the vicinity to the three prominent features (ankle, instep, suppression) of the cosmic-ray flux. The energy evolution of the mean and standard deviation of the measured $X_\mathrm{max}$ distributions indicates that the mass composition becomes increasingly heavier and purer, thus being incompatible with a large fraction of light nuclei between 50 EeV and 100 EeV., Comment: submitted to Phys. Abstract: PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is ESA's M3 mission designed to detect and characterise extrasolar planets and perform asteroseismic monitoring of a large number of stars. PLATO will detect small planets (down to <2 R_(Earth)) around bright stars (<11 mag), including terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. With the complement of radial velocity observations from the ground, planets will be characterised for their radius, mass, and age with high accuracy (5 %, 10 %, 10 % for an Earth-Sun combination respectively). PLATO will provide us with a large-scale catalogue of well-characterised small planets up to intermediate orbital periods, relevant for a meaningful comparison to planet formation theories and to better understand planet evolution. It will make possible comparative exoplanetology to place our Solar System planets in a broader context. In parallel, PLATO will study (host) stars using asteroseismology, allowing us to determine the stellar properties with high accuracy, substantially enhancing our knowledge of stellar structure and evolution. The payload instrument consists of 26 cameras with 12cm aperture each. For at least four years, the mission will perform high-precision photometric measurements. Here we review the science objectives, present PLATO's target samples and fields, provide an overview of expected core science performance as well as a description of the instrument and the mission profile at the beginning of the serial production of the flight cameras. PLATO is scheduled for a launch date end 2026. This overview therefore provides a summary of the mission to the community in preparation of the upcoming operational phases.

27. KIC 4150611: A quadruply eclipsing heptuple star system with a g-mode period-spacing pattern Eclipse modelling of the triple and spectroscopic analysis

Abstract: KIC 4150611 is a high-order multiple composed of a triple system composed of the F1V primary (Aa), which is eclipsed on a 94.2d period by a tight 1.52d binary composed of two dim K/M dwarfs (Ab1, Ab2), which also eclipse each other; an 8.65d eccentric, eclipsing binary composed of two G stars (Ba, Bb); and another faint eclipsing binary composed of two stars of unknown spectral type (Ca and Cb). In addition to its many eclipses, the system is an SB3 spectroscopic multiple (Aa, Ba, and Bb) and the primary (Aa) is a hybrid pulsator. We employ a novel photometric analysis of the complicated eclipse geometry of Aa to obtain orbital and stellar properties of the triple. We acquired 51 TRES spectra at the Fred L. Whipple Observatory, calculating radial velocities and orbital elements of Aa (SB1) and the B binary (SB2). These spectra and radial velocities are used to perform spectral disentangling for Aa, Ba, and Bb. Spectral modelling is applied to the disentangled spectrum of Aa to obtain atmospheric properties. We obtain precise stellar properties of the triple, including the mass ratios (MAa/(MAb1 + MAb2) = 3.61 +/- 0.01, MAb1/MAb2 = 1.113 +/- 0.001), separation ratio (aAab/aAb1Ab2 = 21.81 +/- 0.01), orbital periods (PAab = 94.29486 +/- 0.00008d, PAb1Ab2 = 1.522248 +/- 0.000001d), and stellar radii (RAa = 1.64 +/- 0.06 Rsun, RAb1 = 0.42 +/- 0.01 Rsun, RAb2 = 0.38 +/- 0.01 Rsun). Radial velocity fitting and spectral disentangling arrive at orbital elements for Aa, Ba, and Bb in excellent agreement with each other and with previous results in the literature. Spectral modelling on the disentangled spectrum of Aa provides constraints on the effective temperature (Teff = 7280 +/- 70 K), surface gravity (log(g) = 4.14 +/- 0.18 dex), micro-turbulent velocity (vmicro = 3.61 +/- 0.19 km s-1), rotation velocity (v sin i = 127 +/- 4 km s-1), and metallicity ([M/H] = -0.23 +/- 0.06).

28. The impact of asteroseismically calibrated internal mixing on nucleosynthetic wind yields of massive stars

Abstract: Asteroseismology gives us the opportunity to look inside stars and determine their internal properties. Based on these observations, estimations can be made for the amount of the convective boundary mixing and envelope mixing of such stars, and the shape of the mixing profile in the envelope. However, these results are not typically included in stellar evolution models. We aim to investigate the impact of varying convective boundary mixing and envelope mixing in a range based on asteroseismic modelling in stellar models, both for the stellar structure and for the nucleosynthetic yields. In this first study, we focus on the pre-explosive evolution of a 20Msun star and evolve the models to the final phases of carbon burning. We vary the convective boundary mixing, implemented as step-overshoot, with the overshoot parameter in the range 0.05-0.4 and the amount of envelope mixing in the range 1-10$^{6}$ with a mixing profile based on internal gravity waves. We use a large nuclear network of 212 isotopes to study the nucleosynthesis. We find that enhanced mixing according to asteroseismology of main-sequence stars, both at the convective core boundary and in the envelope, has significant effects on the nucleosynthetic wind yields. Our evolutionary models beyond the main sequence diverge in yields from models based on rotational mixing, having longer helium burning lifetimes and lighter helium-depleted cores. We find that the asteroseismic ranges of internal mixing calibrated from core hydrogen burning stars lead to similar wind yields as those resulting from the theory of rotational mixing. Adopting the seismic mixing levels beyond the main sequence, we find earlier transitions to radiative carbon burning compared to models based on rotational mixing. Abstract: We present an updated catalog of sources detected by the Mikhail Pavlinsky ART-XC telescope aboard the Spektrum-Roentgen-Gamma (SRG) observatory during its all-sky survey. It is based on the data of the first four and the partially completed fifth scans of the sky (ARTSS1-5). The catalog comprises 1545 sources detected in the 4-12 keV energy band. The achieved sensitivity ranges between $\sim 4\times 10^{-12}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ near the ecliptic plane and $\sim 7\times 10^{-13}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ near the ecliptic poles, which is a $\sim$30-50% improvement over the previous version of the catalog based on the first two all-sky scans (ARTSS12). There are $\sim 130$ objects, excluding the expected contribution of spurious detections, that were not known as X-ray sources before the SRG/ART-XC all-sky survey. We provide information, partly based on our ongoing follow-up optical spectroscopy program, on the identification and classification of the majority of the ARTSS1-5 sources (1463), of which 173 are tentative at the moment. The majority of the classified objects (964) are extragalactic, a small fraction (30) are located in the Local Group of galaxies, and 469 are Galactic. Abstract: We report on the discovery of the new accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar SRGAJ144459.2-604207 using the SRG/ART-XC data. The source was observed twice in February 2024 during the declining phase of the outburst. Timing analysis revealed a coherent signal near 447.8~Hz modulated by the Doppler effect due to the orbital motion. The derived parameters for the binary system are consistent with the circular orbit with a period of $\sim5.2$~h. The pulse profiles of the persistent emission, showing a sine-like part during half a period with a plateau in between, can well be modelled by emission from two circular spots partially eclipsed by the accretion disk. Additionally, during our 133~ks exposure observations, we detected 19 thermonuclear X-ray bursts. All bursts have similar shapes and energetics, and do not show any signs of photospheric radius expansion. The burst rate decreases linearly from one per $\sim$1.6~h at the beginning of observations to one per $\sim$2.2~h at the end and anticorrelates with the persistent flux. Spectral evolution during the bursts is consistent with the models of the neutron star atmospheres heated by accretion and imply a neutron star radius of 11--12~km and the distance to the source of 8--9~kpc. We also detected pulsations during the bursts and showed that the pulse profiles differ substantially from those observed in the persistent emission. 33. Large-scale semi-organized rolls in a sheared convective turbulence: Mean-field simulations

Abstract: Based on a mean-field theory of a non-rotating turbulent convection (Phys. Rev. E {\bf 66}, 066305, 2002), we perform mean-field simulations (MFS) of sheared convection which takes into account an effect of modification of the turbulent heat flux by the non-uniform large-scale motions. As the result of this effect, there is an excitation of large-scale convective-shear instability, which causes the formation of large-scale semi-organized structures in the form of rolls. The life-times and spatial scales of these structures are much larger compared to the turbulent scales. By means of MFS performed for stress-free and no-slip vertical boundary conditions, we determine the spatial and temporal characteristics of these structures. Our study demonstrates that the modification of the turbulent heat flux by non-uniform flows leads to a strong reduction of the critical effective Rayleigh number (based on the eddy viscosity and turbulent temperature diffusivity) required for the formation of the large-scale rolls. During the nonlinear stage of the convective-shear instability, there is a transition from the two-layer vertical structure with two roles in the vertical direction before the system reaches steady-state to the one-layer vertical structure with one role after the system reaches steady-state. This effect is observed for all effective Rayleigh numbers. We find that inside the convective rolls, the spatial distribution of the mean potential temperature includes regions with a positive vertical gradient of the potential temperature caused by the mean heat flux of the convective rolls. Abstract: Smart contracts have played a pivotal role in the evolution of blockchains and Decentralized Applications (DApps). As DApps continue to gain widespread adoption, multiple smart contract languages have been and are being made available to developers, each with its distinctive features, strengths, and weaknesses. In this paper, we examine the smart contract languages used in major blockchain platforms, with the goal of providing a comprehensive assessment of their main properties. Our analysis targets the programming languages rather than the underlying architecture: as a result, while we do consider the interplay between language design and blockchain model, our main focus remains on language-specific features such as usability, programming style, safety and security. To conduct our assessment, we propose an original benchmark which encompasses a wide, yet manageable, spectrum of key use cases that cut across all the smart contract languages under examination.

Abstract: The flux of ultra-high energy cosmic rays reaching Earth above the ankle energy (5 EeV) can be described as a mixture of nuclei injected by extragalactic sources with very hard spectra and a low rigidity cutoff. Extragalactic magnetic fields existing between the Earth and the closest sources can affect the observed CR spectrum by reducing the flux of low-rigidity particles reaching Earth. We perform a combined fit of the spectrum and distributions of depth of shower maximum measured with the Pierre Auger Observatory including the effect of this magnetic horizon in the propagation of UHECRs in the intergalactic space. We find that, within a specific range of the various experimental and phenomenological systematics, the magnetic horizon effect can be relevant for turbulent magnetic field strengths in the local neighbourhood of order $B_{\rm rms}\simeq (50-100)\,{\rm nG}\,(20\rm{Mpc}/{d_{\rm s})( 100\,\rm{kpc}/L_{\rm coh}})^{1/2}$, with $d_{\rm s}$ the typical intersource separation and $L_{\rm coh}$ the magnetic field coherence length. When this is the case, the inferred slope of the source spectrum becomes softer and can be closer to the expectations of diffusive shock acceleration, i.e., $\propto E^{-2}$. An additional cosmic-ray population with higher source density and softer spectra, presumably also extragalactic and dominating the cosmic-ray flux at EeV energies, is also required to reproduce the overall spectrum and composition results for all energies down to 0.6~EeV., Comment: Matches published version

Abstract: We describe an X-ray source detection method entirely based on the maximum likelihood analysis, in application to observations with the ART-XC telescope onboard the Spectrum Roentgen Gamma observatory. The method optimally combines the data taken at different conditions, a situation commonly found in scanning surveys or mosaic observations with a telescope with a significant off-axis PSF distortion. The method can be naturally extended to include additional information from the X-ray photon energies, detector grades, etc. The likelihood-based source detection naturally results in a stable and uniform definition of detection thresholds under different observing conditions (PSF, background level). This greatly simplifies the statistical calibration of the survey needed to, e.g., obtain the $\log N - \log S$ distribution of detected sources or their luminosity function. Abstract: The aim of the research was to study the features of the morphofunctional state of the pineal gland, neurohypophysis and adrenal medulla, as well as the сontent of serotonin and catecholamine in the blood serum of rats against the background of energy drink administration during two weeks. In animals that consumed energy drinks during two weeks at a dose of 6 ml per kg of body weight, serum serotonin and catecholamine levels were determined. Histological, including morphometric, studies of the epiphysis, posterior pituitary and adrenal medulla were performed. Against the background of energy drink administration, an increase in the content of blood serum serotonin, norepinephrine and epinephrine was detected. The morphofunctional state of the endocrine glands investigated in the present study is strongly stimulated. Abstract: The aim of the research was to study the activity of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase in small intestinal homogenate of rats with chronic carrageenan-induced gastroenterocolitis, as well as mechanisms of regulation of the enzyme in this pathology. Twenty Wistar Albino Glaxo rats were divided into two groups. Animals of group 1 (n = 10) consumed 1 % carrageenan solution for 28 days, which resulted in the development of gastroenterocolitis confirmed morphologically. The control group consisted of intact animals (n = 10). The activity of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) in the homogenate of small intestine, as well as caspase-3, matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) serum levels were determined. Obtained data were statistically processed using the Mann-Whitney U test and calculating median and interquartile range (Me, 25th–75th percentile) with the help of the GraphPad Prism 5 application. The development of carrageenan-induced gastroenterocolitis was accompanied by an increase in caspase-3, MMP-2, MMP-9 concentrations in blood serum and a decrease in the activity of PARP in small intestinal homogenates. The reduced activity of PARP in chronic carrageenan-induced gastroenterocolitis may be due to the proteolysis of this enzyme under the action of caspase-3, MMP-2, and MMP-9.

Abstract: We present a catalog of sources detected by the Mikhail Pavlinsky ART-XC telescope onboard the SRG space observatory during the observations of the Galactic plane region near a longitude $l\simeq20$ deg (L20 field) in October 2019. The L20 field was observed four times in the scanning mode, which provided a uniform coverage of the sky region with a total area of $\simeq24$ sq. deg with a median sensitivity of $8\times10^{-13}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ (at 50% detection completeness) in the 4$-$12 keV. As a result, we have detected 29 X-ray sources at a statistically significant level, 11 of which have not been detected previously by other X-ray observatories. Preliminary estimates show that four of them can presumably be extragalactic in nature. We also show that the source SRGA J183220.1$-$103508 (CXOGSG J183220.8$-$103510), is most likely a galaxy cluster containing a bright radio galaxy at redshift $z\simeq0.121$., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, 5 tables; minor edits
