An 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO) serves as a promising target for drug delivery and imaging applications. In this investigation, we have encapsulated MCBP, a TSPO compound based on acetamidobenzoxazolone, within a poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) polymer to evaluate the effectiveness of MCBP-PLGA-NP as a targeted carrier for drug delivery. Our investigation involves the analysis of ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) and other pertinent factors, conducted through photo-physical studies with serum albumin. In order to evaluate the compatibility of the formulation loaded with MCBP with red blood cells (RBCs), we utilized a hemolysis test. The findings indicate that the formulation is compatible with blood (hemocompatible) and does not cause hemolysis. Additionally, the cytotoxicity of the nanoformulation was assessed using the SRB assay, revealing a non-cytotoxic nature, suggesting its potential safety for biological systems. Imaging studies with 99mTc-labeled MCBP-PLGA-NP provided insights into the specificity and distribution patterns of this nanoparticle. Diversely substituted methoxy derivatives of arylpiperazinyl–alkyl benzothiazolone has been evaluated as specific probe for 5HT7. To determine the best methoxy derivative for 5HT7 receptor affinity, we synthesised a number of 2-benzothiazolone arylalkyl piperazine derivatives. In-vitro/vivo studies with C-2 substituted [11C]ABT showed 5HT7 specific binding. The radiochemical purity of [11C]ABT was found to be more than 99% with radiochemical stability persistence for more than 1.5 hr at 25 °C. The interaction of BSA and ABT has been analysed by photophysical studies for better understanding of properties such as adsortion, distribution, metabolism and elemination (ADME). The interaction between ABT and BSA was analyzed by using the UV-vis and fluorescence spectra. UV-vis spectra analyzed the changes in primary structure of BSA on its interaction with ABT. ABT showed quenched fluorescence emission intensity of tryptophan residues in BSA via static quenching mechanism. This work comprehensively investigates possibilities of surface states realization in one-dimensional photonic systems that are terminated with ε-negative and μ-negative bandgap materials. We begin by first fathoming the topological properties of photonic band structure and notice that its bulk properties completely characterize the surface phenomena in all the foreseeable cases. This approach is inspired from topologically non-trivial behavior in low-dimensional condensed matter systems and the ensuing emergence of topologically protected edge states in such systems. Specifically, we will be following the setup of Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model and emulate the topological phenomena in one-dimensional photonic systems with a substantial advantage of relatively less demanding fabrication. More importantly, being distributed systems, the photonic crystal realizations in question further enrich the available parameter space and provide application avenues for topological phenomena. For example, unlike the atomic chains, in the case of photonic crystals, we can achieve the band inversion and topological phase transition without altering the arrangement of constituents. Our investigations primarily focus on exploiting this very aspect of higher-order photonic bandgaps and in this process, we experimentally demonstrate that the bulk-band geometric phases offer a deterministic yet customizable route for surface state engineering.
