IntroductionSunglasses are worn by outdoor athletes such as cricketers for many reasons, including comfort and glare reduction, which may help to improve vision. Anecdotally they are purported to have performance-enhancing benefits, but there is a lack of evidence for this. Further, it appears that fielders are the only position in cricket who wear sunglasses. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the catching performance of fielders when wearing three different colour sunglasses tints during an indoor, laboratory-based experiment.MethodsTwenty-one male cricketers currently playing for a university or amateur provincial teams in Makhanda, South Africa, who were non-habitual sunglass wearers, were recruited for this study. An optometrist administered pre-screening tests. Players had four testing sessions during which they wore a different colour tint at each session indoors (clear, blue, G30 (rose), and red). Players were required to catch 18 balls projected from a bowling machine. The number of balls caught, as well as the quality of the catch, was recorded. At the final session, they were asked which tint they thought was best.ResultsPre-screening tests showed that the red lens was best for contrast sensitivity and stereopsis. During data collection, sunglass tint did not affect catching performance. The players perceived the red lens as the worst and the G30 as the best.DiscussionIt can be concluded that catching performance indoors is not affected by tint colour.

Increase in air temperature inside a parked car cabin causes negative impacts such as low thermal comfort, health risk for the passengers/pets inside the cabin, increased fuel consumption due to higher air-conditioning requirements. The present project focuses on methods to reduce the cabin temperatures for a car parked in unshaded condition. CFD analyses along with experimental validation have been performed with the use of different proposed cabin temperature control methods such as use of electrochromic tint on windshield, use of inlet and outlet vents, lowering of windows and combinations of these. Commercial CFD package ANSYS Fluent has been utilized to develop a numerical model for car cabin temperature distribution assessment when a parked car is subjected to solar load at different locations inside the cabin such as dashboard, seats and boot. A solar surface to surface radiation model is used in conjunction with solar calculator to capture the solar radiation that included change in position of the sun. A 5:1 scale down model of car cabin has been used for experimental validation with the help of help of PT-100 resistance thermometers. Good reduction in cabin temperatures has been observed for all the proposed cooling methods with 14 °C reduction for the combined tint, vents and lowered windows case. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Clear explication of the conditions necessary to reproduce results is imperative in the development of evidence-based interventions. Methods: This study used a fidelity framework to guide the exploration of implementation fidelity in a study of the Tuning in to Teens (TINT) intervention in New Jersey. TINT is an evidence-based prevention program – previously tested with parents of pre-adolescents to reduce emotionally dismissive parenting – that was adapted for use with adoptive and guardianship families. Results: The review of intervention design adaptation and protocols; intervention training; and monitoring of intervention delivery revealed extensive efforts by an adoption clinician, the purveyor of the program, and an implementation team to support the implementation efforts. Results of the monitoring of intervention receipt indicate that the intervention was implemented with high fidelity. Discussion: Future intervention research should consider assessing the effects of implementation efforts on outcomes to improve replication under real-world conditions. Regardless, this exploration of fidelity has implications for public and private organizations seeking to implement an evidence-based intervention. The framework developed by Gearing and Colleagues and the TIDieR checklist could provide useful guidance when planning for and reporting on implementation fidelity in the furtherance of developing and disseminating evidence-based interventions. The human vision and model clarity is predominantly affected by color and light. In order to verify whether there is any impact of mingling colors on the vision comfortable and model lucidity, we conducted experiments based on color temperature (warm and cool colors) and Munsell color system (hue, tone, tint, and shade). The experiments include nine groups of colors combination, two chosen colors in each group. Moreover, a new illumination design is introduced to support our proposed method. Since the study depends on human’s estimation, we survey to gauge the outcome. One-way ANOVA and the Post-Hoc tests are used to analyze the data of vision comfortable. Mean and Standard Deviation tests are used to measure the model lucidity improvements. Data from the experiments shows a significant difference by comparing mixed colors based on their temperature. According to the respondents, cool tone & cool shade mixture gives the highest lucidness to the model.

Aim: ChloraPrep™ (CHP) is a clear solution of 2% (w/v) chlorhexidine (CHG) in 70% (v/v) isopropyl alcohol (IPA) administered with a specially designed sterile single‐use applicator in which a tinting agent can be added to the CHP solution upon activation of applicator immediately prior to patient skin preparation (CHP+T). This study investigated whether the immediate and residual efficacy of CHP vs CHP+T and a stock solution of 2% CHG in 70% IPA varied, and whether CHP was compromised by the addition of the dye. Methods and Results: We compared the immediate and residual activity (in 1 min) of 70% IPA with that of 2% CHG in 70% IPA stock solution prepared in the laboratory against CHP+T and CHP, against 22 micro‐organisms (5 ATCC and 18 clinical isolates) on germ‐carriers. CHP and CHP+T demonstrated superior immediate and residual efficacy compared to the 70% IPA plus 2% CHG in 70% IPA stock solutions. Each antiseptic tested showed greater efficacy against the Gram‐positive bacteria than against the Gram‐negative bacteria. However, their antimicrobial effect on yeasts was even lower. Conclusions: CHP and CHP+T have superior immediate and residual efficacy compared to stock 70% IPA and 2% CHG in 70% IPA solutions, and CHP+T is not affected by the tinting agent. Significance and Impact of the Study: ChloraPrep is a product which can be stained just before use. We have demonstrated that the immediate and residual efficacy of the antimicrobial solution is not compromised by the dye. The efficacy of CHP is greater against bacteria than against yeasts obtained from ICU patients. Interestingly, CHP is more effective against bacteria than a formula made in the laboratory with the same basic components (2% chlorhexidine and 70% IPA). The intermittent heat sterilization process of the commercial preparation might hypothetically have improved the residual activity of the CHP solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Biodegradable thermoplastic starch (TPS) composites with isometric titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2; diameter ~100 nm) and elongated titanate nanotubes (TiNT; diameter ~20 nm and aspect ratio >50) were prepared from wheat and tapioca starch. The preparation was based on our recently developed two-step procedure consisting of the solution casting (SC) followed by the melt mixing (MM), which had been shown to yield highly homogeneous TPS in our previous study. In this work we demonstrated that the type of the TPS matrix and the type of the filler had significant impact on the morphology and the properties of the final composites. Multiple microscopic techniques (LM, SEM, and TEM) evidenced that the TPS/TiO2 composites exhibited a very homogeneous dispersion of the filler, while the TPS/TiNT composites contained micrometer-size agglomerates of TiNT. Moreover, all composites with the wheat starch matrix [TPS(w)] showed a higher filler agglomeration than the corresponding composites with the tapioca starch matrix [TPS(t)]. Rheological experiments showed that the TiO2 and TiNT fillers had quite small impact on the viscosity of the TPS(w) matrix, probably due to slightly higher agglomeration, poorer dispersion, and weaker matrix-particle interactions. On the other hand, the TPS(t) matrix was influenced by both fillers significantly: the TiO2 nanoparticles with almost ideal dispersion formed a physical network in the TPS(t) matrix, which significantly increased the viscosity of the composite, whereas the TiNT nanotubes seemed to destruct the TPS(t) matrix partially, resulting in decreased viscosity of the composite. DMTA results confirmed the rheological measurements: Storage moduli (G') showed that TPS(t) and its composites with TiO2 were stiffer than the corresponding TPS(w) samples, while the TPS(t)/TiNT composites were less stiff than TPS(w)/TiNT. Also loss moduli (G“) confirmed the difference between tapioca starch and wheat starch composites, which differed by their glass transition temperatures [Tg of TPS(w) < Tg of TPS(t)]. The rheological and DMTA results were supplemented and supported by IR, XRD, and TGA measurements.

Colorists are seriously worried about the long extraction time, low color yield and colorfastness of natural dye obtained via conventional extraction techniques. In this study, microwave (MW)-aided extraction technique was exploited as an alternative method to the conventional extraction technique. The cocoa leaf extraction parameters were varied for obtaining optimal extraction conditions. Likewise, dyeing and mordanting parameters were varied for achieving dyed wool fabric with preferred tint strength (K / S) and colorfastness. The colorimetric properties of MW-aided cocoa leaf extract (CL) dyed wool fabrics were compared to those of the conventional extract dyed fabrics. The antioxidant, antibiotic and ultraviolet protection properties (UPP) of un-dyed, MW-irradiated CL dyed and mordanted wool fabrics were evaluated for healthcare functional properties. MW-irradiation enhanced the dye yield by 33.82%, reduced the extraction time by 90% and increased tint yield by 44%. The optimal dyeing conditions were liquor ratio 1:20, pH 6, 45 min dyeing time and temperature of 65 °C. Post-mordanting with 5% Fe2+ and 9% Al3+ as chemical-mordants enhanced K / S and colorfastness of the dyed fabric from good to very good, while 3% neem and 7% moringa bark extract as herbal-anchors improved the dyed fabrics' K / S and colorfastness from good to excellent. Dyeing enhanced the poor antioxidant and antibiotic properties of MW-irradiated fabrics to excellent, which was further boosted after mordanting process. All the fabrics possess desired UPP. Desired healthcare functional properties of MW-assisted CL dyed wool fabrics after fifth laundry cycle established CL extract as a potential future sustainable colorant for producing healthcare wears. [Display omitted] • Microwave-rays reduced the dye-extraction time and increased tint-yield drastically. • Microwave-rays enhanced fabric's reactivity without altering its functional groups. • Optimal dyeing conditions were pH 6, 45 min and 65 °C. LIGHTING , *WHITE - Abstract
Abstract: Subjects assessed white tone preference and tint percentage perception (e.g., a faint greenish tint perceived in the white tone) in a viewing booth containing small colored objects at the illuminance level of 1000 lx for cool white, neutral white and warm white spectra. White points with the lowest perceived tint percentage were most preferred. White tone preference was rated on interval scales labeled by semantic categories, for example, “very good,” “good,” and “moderate” The location of the white points of different preference levels (e.g., “good‐very good” level or “moderate‐good” level) was depicted in the u′‐v′ chromaticity diagram. The most preferred white points were located below the Planckian locus, inside the region of the white points required by CIE Publication 13.3 (1995) with the criterion of the chromaticity difference DC being <0.0054. The most preferred correlated color temperature (CCT) was at 3400, 4500, and 5800 K in the warm, neutral, and cool white CCT groups, respectively. Results were interpreted in terms of the Rea and Freyssinier (2014) model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A significant part of the Kipchak Turks converted to Islam, and they continued their lives in the Golden Horde and especially in the Mamluk States, and left a large number of manuscripts with Arabic letters. We know that a group that accepted the Gregorian sect of Christianity established their own churches in Ukraine and Poland and transcribed Kipchak Turkish religious texts in Armenian letters. In addition to this Christian group, it is possible to observe that another Kipchak group, who maintains their traditional beliefs, has left deep effects on the history of the northern Black Sea, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, as well as on the cultural texture since the 11th century. However, unlike the other two groups, after accepting Christianity, they lost their national identity over time and assimilated into the neighboring tribes in the region. A number of names of people and places, as well as Codex Cumanicus, written by Italian and German authors, have survived to this day regarding the language data they spoke. This manuscript, which is thought to have been written for missionary and commercial purposes, also has the feature of being the first Turkish text with Latin letters in history. Many words in this work, which contains many verbs, riddles and grammatical rules of the language of the Cuman Turks in the region, and also shares the Cuman translation of the Christian hymns, contain spelling mistakes due to the fact that the authors learned Turkish later. The verb “tint-” and the derived noun “tintövçi” in the second part of our text, also known as the German codex, appear only once in this work. It is quite interesting that the verb "tint-", which means "to investigate, to examine", is encountered only in Codex Cumanicus, but not in any of the other historical Kipchak Turkish texts. But what is more interesting is that this verb exists in all modern Kipchak Turkic dialects., Kıpçak Türklerinin nüfus itibariyle önemli bir bölümü Müslümanlığı kabul etmiş, Altın Orda ve bilhassa Memluk Devletleri bünyesinde yaşamlarını sürdürerek günümüze çok sayıda Arap harfli yazma eser bırakmışlardır.

Based on an examination of surviving notarial evidence from the Pyrenean town of Puigcerdà, this article investigates the ties between the inland mountainous regions of the Mediterranean and broader Mediterranean trade net- works in the later Middle Ages. It shows that, following the rapid expansion of cloth production in the Catalan Pyrenees during the late thirteenth century, Italian (mainly Tuscan) merchants, some themselves from smaller interior towns, began travelling not only to the major Mediterranean coastal ports but also, through them, into the inner Catalan Pyrenees, where they sold cloth-dyeing materials from at least 1302 on. The commercial activity of these merchants appears to have grown during the first decades of the fourteenth century as cloth production in Puigcerdà continued to grow and persisted at least into the 1360s. Through a comparison between the number of Italian merchants operating in Puigcerdà and those in the smaller Catalan town of Castelló d’Empúries, this article also reveals that the level of access to Mediterranean products and trade in inland mountainous regions was significantly lower than that of the coast. Both towns appear to have been part of one interconnected network that saw some of the same merchants trading in Puigcerdà and in Castelló. This network was likely based in Perpignan, where a high number of the Italian merchants resided.

Recently, a line of minimum tint in chromaticity space for sources of illumination of different correlated color temperatures (CCTs) from 2700 K to 6500 K has been reported. This line of minimum tint did not correspond to the line of blackbody radiation implicitly associated with sources of white illumination used in architectural applications. It was noted that chromaticities along the line of minimum tint were not metamers but, rather, should represent, for a given CCT, chromaticities where the neural signals from the two spectral opponent channels were minimized. Earlier work provided a theoretical framework for representing the four unique hues where the neural signals from one spectral opponent channel are minimized. This framework was used here to quantitatively represent the line of minimum tint and then to empirically test whether this representation could predict the amount of tint perceived in six different sources of "white" Illumination." Based on these results, a provisional model is proposed for describing the tint and the amount of tint perceived in "white" Illumination used in architectural applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: A central composite design was employed to determine the optimum extraction condition to obtain higher yield, better color attribute as well as better rheological and emulsifying properties in pectin extracted from sugar beet pulp (SBP). A second-order polynomial model was developed for predicting the yield of sugar beet pulp pectin (SBPP) based on the composite design. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to quantify the integral effect of three processing parameters (extraction temperature, time and pH) on yield, yield stress, color attribute (tint value) and emulsifying activity index (EAI). Through the frequency analysis it was found that the optimal temperature, time and pH value of the extraction were 93.7°C, 3h, and 1.21, respectively. The yield, yield stress and tint value of the SBPP extracted at the optimal condition were 24.45%, above 0.1Pa and −6.0, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Objective. The aim of this study was to explore whether vascular density and turnout cell proliferation are related to the risk of prostate cancer death in patients managed by watchful waiting. Material and methods. From a consecutive series of men diagnosed with prostate cancer at transurethral resection in 1975-1990, tissue microarrays (TMAs) were constructed. A majority of men had no metastases at diagnosis and were followed by watchful waiting (n = 295). The TMAs were stained for Ki67, endoglin and factor VIII-related antigen (vWf). Results. In univariate Cox analyses, increased Ki67 index, endoglin vascular density and vWf vascular density were associated with shorter cancer-specific survival. Ki67 index and endoglin vascular density added independent prognostic information to clinical stage, estimated tumour size and Gleason score (GS) in multivariate Cox analysis. In GS 6 tumours, high Ki67 index and high endoglin vascular density identified patients with poor outcome. After 15 years of follow-up not a single man out of 34 men with low staining for both markers (35% of all GS 6 tumours) had died of prostate cancer, in contrast to 15 prostate cancer deaths among the remaining 63 men with GS 6 tumours (65% cumulative risk of prostate cancer death), vWf vascular density in benign areas was a prognostic marker in GS 6 and 7 tumours. Conclusions. Men with GS 6 tumours with both low Ki67 index and endoglin vascular density staining scores have a low risk of progression. Additional studies are needed to test whether these two markers can be applied to core biopsies to select patients suitable for surveillance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A survey of gem materials began at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2003. Key information includes not only the identity of the gem and the style of cut, where possible, but also the presence of any additional materials used for the enhancement, or in the simulation, of gems. The occurrence of enhancements and simulants was unexpectedly high and the materials used relatively unstable. This paper introduces the most commonly encountered historical techniques in order to aid the conservator in their identification, and thus inform decisions regarding the suitable treatment, storage and display methods for gem-set objects. - Abstract
The homogenous mammalian order Lagomorpha comprises about 80 species in two families, Ochotonidae (pikas) and Leporidae (rabbits and hares). However, the phylogenetic relationships among leporids are controversial. Molecular data, particularly from mitochondrial sequences, give highly homoplasious signals. To resolve the controversy between mitochondrial and nuclear data, we analyzed genomic orthologous retroposon insertion sites, a virtually homoplasy-free marker system. From a differential screen of rabbit genomic data for intronic retroposon insertions of CSINE elements, we polymerase chain reaction–amplified and sequenced 11 retroposons in eight representative lagomorphs. We found three retroposons shared among all lagomorphs but absent in outgroups, four confirmed the monophyly of leporids, and three significantly supported Pronolagus as the sister group to all other leporids. One retroposon supported the monophyly of Lepus. The position of Pronolagus outside of the remaining leporids supports the sequence-based signals of nuclear genes and clearly refutes the misleading signals of mitochondrial genes. Placed in the West part of the country, Minis vineyard is one of the oldest Romanian vineyards, documentary attested from XIth century. It reaches its fame along time through red wines of high class, known in the European countries and all over the world: Cadarca, Merlot, Burgund, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir. The determinations that were done in this study regarded the evolution of tint and colour intensity during the maceration fermentation process that took place in rotating metallic tanks of red grapes from Merlot variety and Burgund variety. It was concluded that the addition of different sulphur dioxide concentration, influence the phenolic compounds extraction from must and wine, during the maceration fermentation process. It was observed that the tint evolution is closely linked with colouring intensity, for the researched wines these characteristics were analysed in the same time along the entire technological process, beginning with maceration fermentation till the maturation stage. Other wise, during maturation and obsolescence, the tint is increasing because of polyphenols condensations and polymerisation process. As a result of tannins polymerisation and addition with anthocyans reaction, wines colour became steadier and the tint became red brick coloured. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The complexity of the analysis of LCP as a set of physical objects is explained by the fact that these are multilayer substances capable of forming stable connections with objects (details) on which they are applied. In addition, the constant development of technologies for their production, application and recovery creates the need to im-prove research methods. Examination of marking designations on details and knots of the vehicle can be considered full-fledged and informative in a case when the part of LCP connected with them physically and technologically was investigated that points to need of carry-ing out complex material science examination. As part of a comprehensive forensic study of physical evidence, the examination of the LCP can complement the conclu-sions of the autotechnical and tracological examinations. To attach paint samples to the array of physical evidence, it is important to use the possibility of taking an ad-ditional sample of traces of LCP from the identification plate on the body of the vehi-cle, which will allow evidence to establish a connection between the samples from the studied part and the vehicle by its identification characteristics. Objective data on the state and composition of LCP can be considered the results of the study ob-tained by instrumental methods. According to these features, with proper sampling, it is possible to identify the make and year of production of the vehicle, to differentiate a specific body,

Bylo zjištěno, že doporučené modifikace stávající rovnice CIE pro bělost s vizuálními posudky bělosti pod osvětlením D50 korelují hůře, naopak pod D50 se zesílenou UV složkou korelují výrazně lépe., The thesis brings an overview of the current state of methods for evaluating whiteness and the relevant formulas. Further, it deals with the applicability of these methods for D50 illumination. For the set of white samples containing the fluorescence whitening agents, the evaluation by a group of observers with superior color discrimination was compared with the results of the objective measurement of their whiteness and tint. It was found that the correlation of the recommended modifications to the existing CIE whiteness formula with the whiteness rating is worse under the D50 illumination, while under D50 with the added UV component their correlation is significantly stronger., Fakulta chemicko-technologická, prof. - Abstract
Background: Microseminoprotein-beta (MSMB) is a major secretory product from prostate epithelial cells. MSMB synthesis is decreased in prostate tumors in relation to tumor grade. MSMB levels are also reduced in the circulation and MSMB is therefore used as a serum biomarker for prostate cancer. We hypothesized that cancers induce a reduction in MSMB synthesis also in the benign parts of the prostate, and that the magnitude of this response is related to tumor aggressiveness. Reduced levels of MSMB in the circulation could therefore be a consequence of reduced MSMB expression not only in tumor tissue but also in the benign prostate tissue. Methods: MSMB expression was analyzed in prostatectomy specimens from 36 patients using immunohistochemistry and qRT-PCR. MSMB expression in the benign prostate tissue was analyzed in relation to Gleason score, tumor stage, and distance to the tumor. Furthermore, Dunning rat prostate tumors with different aggressiveness were implanted into the prostate of Copenhagen rats to study if this affected the MSMB expression in the tumor-adjacent benign rat prostate tissue. Results: In prostatectomy specimens, MSMB expression was reduced in prostate tumors but also in the tumor-adjacent benign parts of the prostate. The reduction in tumor MSMB was related to tumor grade and stage, and the reduction in the benign parts of the prostate to tumor grade, stage, and distance to the tumor. Implantation of Dunning cancer cells into the rat prostate resulted in reduced MSMB protein levels in the tumor-adjacent benign prostate tissue. Rapidly growing and metastatic MatLyLu tumors had a more pronounced effect than slow-growing non-metastatic G tumors. Conclusion: Our data suggest that aggressive prostate tumors suppress MSMB synthesis in the benign prostate and that this could explain why serum levels of MSMB are decreased in prostate cancer patients. This study suggests that markers for aggressive cancer can be found among factors altered in parallel

35. Depiction of Water as a Nondirective Therapist in Matthew Arnold’s “Dover Beach”

- Abstract
Water is one of the five basic elements of the nature. Water is an inevitable source for the living as well as non-living in the universe. Living being can live without food for a while but not without water. Even the climatic changes and seasonal changes take place in earth due to the presence of water. This proves water as the life bearing cradle with a tint of less pigments. Currently the developments in the medical field prove the importance of water as a healing product in the health issues of the living beings. It is discovered that the main cause of blood related and stone related problems in the body are due to the less intake of water. Beyond all these boons, water is blessed with the power to control the mind and act as a curable medicine for mental stress and strains. This proves the resemblance between water and depth of soul in human being. Thus, Psychiatrists suggest their patients to dwell beside oceans, lakes, waterfalls and streams because they know; it will bring a fresh atmosphere around them and help to have control over their own mind. Matthew Arnold, an imaginative prolific writer, in his poem “Dover Beach” pictures the major role played by water in healing the stress.

The aim of this study was to examine in what ways MatLyLu (MLL) rat prostate tumors with high metastatic capacity influence regional lymph nodes prior to metastatic establishment compared to AT1 rat prostate tumors with low metastatic potential. MLL or AT1 tumor cells were injected into the ventral prostate of immunocompetent rats. Tumor and lymph node morphology, and lymph node mRNA expression of macrophage associated markers, T-cell associated markers, and cytokines were examined over time until the first microscopic signs of metastases (at day 14 for MLL- and at day 28 for AT1-tumors). Already at day 3 after tumor cell injection, when the tumors were extremely small and occupied less than 1% of the prostate volume, MLL- and AT1-tumors provoked different immune responses in both the prostate and the regional lymph nodes. MLL-tumors induced expression of immunosuppressive cytokines, suppressed T-cell accumulation, and directed T-cells towards an immunosuppressive phenotype. AT1-tumors caused a response more similar to that in vehicle-injected animals, with accumulation of T-cells in tumors and regional lymph nodes. Prostate tumors with high metastatic potential were able to precondition regional lymph nodes to subsequent metastatic growth in ways different from tumors with less metastatic potential. This may indicate the existence of a time-window when pre-metastatic changes in regional lymph nodes can aid in the prognostication of locally aggressive and potentially metastatic prostate cancer. Prostate cancer (PC) is the most common cancer in Sweden. Most patients have slow growing tumors that will not cause them any harm within their lifetime, but some have aggressive tumors and will die from their disease. The ability of current clinical practice to predict tumor behavior and disease outcome is limited leading to both over- and undertreatment of PC patients. The men who die from their disease are those that develop metastases. It is therefore of great value to find better and more sensitive prognostic techniques, so that metastatic spread can be detected (or predicted) at an early time point, and so that appropriate treatment can be offered to each subgroup of patients. The aim of this thesis was to investigate if, and by what means, highly aggressive prostate tumors influence extratumoral tissues such as the non-malignant parts of the prostate and regional lymph nodes (LN), and also if any of our findings could be of prognostic importance. Gene- and protein expression analysis were the main methods used to address these questions. Our research group has previously introduced the expression Tumor Instructed (Indicating) Normal Tissue (TINT), and we use the term TINT-changes when referring to alterations in non-malignant tissue due to the growth of a tumor nearby or elsewhere in the body. In the Dunning rat PC-model we found that MatLyLu (MLL)-tumors, having a high metastatic ability, caused pre-metastatic TINT-changes that differ from those caused by AT1-tumors who have low metastatic ability. Prostate-TINT surrounding MLL-tumors had elevated immune cell infiltration, and gene ontology enrichment analysis suggested that biological functions promoting tumor growth and metastasis were activated in MLL- while inhibited in AT1-prostate-TINT. In the regional LNs we found signs of impaired antigen presentation, and decreased quantity of T cells in the MLL-model. One of the downregulated genes in the MLL-LNs was Siglec1 (also known as Cd169), expressed by LN resident macrophages that are important for antigen presentation. When examining metastasis-free LN tissue from PC patients we found CD169 expression to be a prognostic factor for PC-specific survival, and reduced expression was linked to an increased risk of PC-specific death. Some of our findings in prostate- and LN-TINT could be seen already when the tumors were very small suggesting that differences in TINT-changes between tumors with different metastatic capability can be detected early in tumor progression. However, before coming of use in the clinic more research is needed to better define a suitable panel of prognostic TINT-factors as well as the right time window of when to use them.

- Abstract
This may indicate the existence of a time-window when pre-metastatic changes in regional lymph nodes can aid in the prognostication of locally aggressive and potentially metastatic prostate cancer., Originally included in thesis in manuscript form.

Background: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Sweden. Due its highly variable behavior, multifocal nature, and insufficient diagnostic methods, prostate cancer is difficult to diagnose and prognosticate. Some patients have an aggressive lethal disease, but the majority of prostate cancer patients have slow-growing, non-lethal disease with long expected survival without treatment. Current diagnostic methods―serum levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and histological grading of biopsied prostate tissue―often do not give the information required to be able to safely differentiate indolent tumors from potentially lethal ones. Many prostate cancers are difficult to detect by imaging, so tissue biopsy cannot be safely guided towards the tumor, and particularly not towards the most aggressive forms. To overcome this problem, multiple needle biopsies are taken from the organ, but biopsies are small and they sample less than 1% of the whole prostate. In this thesis, we explore the non-malignant prostate tissue adjacent to tumors, which is always sampled in biopsies, and we study adaptive changes in this tissue, which may provide new diagnostic and prognostic markers for prostate cancer. We have therefore proposed that this type of tissue should be termed TINT (Tumor Instructed/indicating Normal Tissue). Methods: In our studies, we used orthotopic rat prostate cancer models with tumors of different aggressiveness. We also used clinical materials from patients diagnosed with prostate cancer at transurethral resection (1975‒1990); the majority of these men were followed with watchful waiting. Analyses were performed with whole-genome expression array, quantitative real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting. Results: Using the animal model, we found that the presence of a tumor induces changes in gene expression in the surrounding tumor-bearing organ (TINT). The gene signature of TINT was linked to processes such as extracellular matrix organization, immune responses, and inflammation. We also showed that some of these adaptive TINT changes appear to be related to the aggressiveness and metastatic potential of the growing tumor, such as increases in macrophages, in mast cells, in vascular densities, and in vascular cell-proliferation. Some of these findings were confirmed by our observations in patient samples. We found that high staining of the extracellular matrix component hyaluronan in the stroma of the non-malignant prostate tissue was prognostic for short cancer-specific survival. We also found that an elevated proportion of C/EBP-beta positive epithelial cells in non-malignant (TINT) prostate tissue was associated with a good prognosis. Conclusions: Using animal experiments and patient samples, we showed that the presence of prostate cancer induces changes in the tumor-bearing organ, alterations associated with tumor aggressiveness, and that grading of these changes in TINT can be used to predict outcome in prostate cancer patients.

The piano works of Claude Achille Debussy (1862-1918) as well as the works of Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt constitute an important repertoire for the pianists. What is common among their works would be that they were composed in consideration for almost all the functions of pianos that had been improved by leaps and bounds since the latter half of the eighteenth century. Debussy is generally called an "impressionist" composer. As everyone knows, this word as well as "baroque" is a historical word of music borrowed from the history of art. Therefore, it is needless to say that having knowledge about impressionist painters is necessary in playing the piano works of Debussy. Then I wonder what kind of relationship there is between them. I wonder what it is like if there is a relationship. It is the purpose of this article to give a concrete consideration on the way of playing the piano, taking up his piano works in order to approach these tasks. Piano techniques were used to create a certain definite "form" to perfection with melody and vigor in the piano works of Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt whereas in those of Debussy, it can be said that they were used to show, so to speak, "impressionistic" expressive spirit, representing a world of sound whose "form" is vague. One of the great features is seen in the use of soft pedal.

The late decades notice intensive eutrofication processes in the lakes caused by biogenic materials. These processes also stimulates silt up, that mean growing amount of saprophel, thickening of silt layer, swamping, in consecution is visible by marked increase of reeds, cat’s-tails and duckweeds. In work described executed investigations in 4 lakes: Druskonis, Mergelių Akys, Valdakis and Ilgutis lakes, dredged in 1974, 1978, 1979 and 1980. The thickness, amount, color and stratification conditions of accumulated precipitates layer were investigated. Silt taking cylinder, GPS and tape-measure were used to execute the investigations. Ascertained that in lakes basically dominates two different by theirs color, density, amount and thickness silt layers. Noticed tendencies that by last time from the lakes were dredged, annual average upper silt layer accumulation intensity were about 3,8 mm, Druskonis Lake, 4,4 mm Mergelių Akys Lake, 0,5 mm Valdakis Lake, 3 mm Ilgutis Lake. In deepened parts of the lakes, where bottom sediments there eliminated, vegetation was not noticed. In the Mergelių Akys Lake by 29 years from it was dredged silt accumulation intensity is the highest of all investigated lakes. In the Valdakis Lake by 30 years from it was dredged silt accumulation intensity is low, the lowest of all investigated lakes. Evaluated such silt accumulation, it is true to say that the silting is comparatively slow, not to mentioned the fact that the lakes are polluted.

Reduced levels of MSMB in the circulation could therefore be a consequence of reduced MSMB expression not only in tumor tissue but also in the benign prostate tissue., Methods: MSMB expression was analyzed in prostatectomy specimens from 36 patients using immunohistochemistry and qRT-PCR. MSMB expression in the benign prostate tissue was analyzed in relation to Gleason score, tumor stage, and distance to the tumor. Furthermore, Dunning rat prostate tumors with different aggressiveness were implanted into the prostate of Copenhagen rats to study if this affected the MSMB expression in the tumor-adjacent benign rat prostate tissue., Results: In prostatectomy specimens, MSMB expression was reduced in prostate tumors but also in the tumor-adjacent benign parts of the prostate. Rapidly growing and metastatic MatLyLu tumors had a more pronounced effect than slow-growing non-metastatic G tumors., Conclusion: Our data suggest that aggressive prostate tumors suppress MSMB synthesis in the benign prostate and that this could explain why serum levels of MSMB are decreased in prostate cancer patients. This study suggests that markers for aggressive cancer can be found among factors altered in parallel in prostate tumors and in the adjacent benign tissue., (© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.)

This report briefly describes a computerized technique for transforming digital elevation data into gray-level-encoded film. This film is then used for near-real-time analog graphic (nondigital) processing for the display of terrain perspectives, profiles, and elevation layer tints. This report concludes that this approach offers considerable potential, at base and/or field levels, for producing special map graphics, displays, and analyzing terrain conditions for line-of-sight problems or nap-of-the-earth flight plans.
