Background: Dermatophytosis, a prevalent fungal infection, often exhibits treatment failure. It poses ongoing public health concerns, urging exploration of alternative treatment strategies. This study examines eucalyptol's in vitro activity and its interaction with antifungal agents against dermatophyte isolates. Methods: Overall, 489 patients clinically suspected of dermatophytosis were investigated, and the causative agents were molecularly identified. The antifungal activity of eucalyptol, itraconazole, terbinafine, and griseofulvin was assessed according to the guideline of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI M38 ed3). The interaction between eucalyptol and the aforementioned antifungals was determined using a checkerboard method. Results: Dermatophytosis was confirmed in 30 out of 489 (6.13%) patients, with a female-to-male ratio of 3:2 and an age range of 8–67 years. The most commonly observed clinical manifestation was tinea corporis (34.21%), and Trichophyton indotineae (n = 14, 46%) was the most common causative agent. Antifungal susceptibility testing revealed that eucalyptol exhibited antidermatophyte properties with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) ranging from 0.78 to 25 mg/mL. Itraconazole demonstrated the lowest geometric mean (GM) value (MIC range: 0.0019–0.25 µg/mL, GM: 0.015 µg/mL), while griseofulvin exhibited the highest GM value (MIC range: 0.125–8 µg/mL, GM: 2.37 µg/mL). The in vitro interaction of eucalyptol with antifungal drugs, except for its combination with terbinafine against two Trichophyton tonsurans isolates resulting in synergistic effects, showed indifference (n = 70, 77.77%) and antagonistic types (n = 18, 20%). Conclusion: Among the evaluated antifungals, itraconazole demonstrated the highest effectiveness against clinical isolates, while eucalyptol alone exhibited a more pronounced effect than when combined with antifungal agents. The clinical characteristics and pathogenesis of acral melanoma of the foot (AMF) have not been sufficiently elucidated. Clinical or subclinical persistent inflammation of the feet is caused by dermatophytosis of the feet (DPF). Persistent inflammation is potentially associated with oncogenesis. Moreover, diabetes has been reported to be associated with the development of dermatophytosis and cancer. The present study aimed to elucidate the clinical association between DPF and AMF, with consideration of diabetes. The medical records of 114 Japanese patients were retrospectively examined and divided into an AMF group (n = 30) and a control group consisting of patients with foot diseases other than melanoma (n = 84). Microscopic DPF screening was performed on all patients who reported symptoms in the foot, with or without AMF. Patients underwent a microscopic test to detect the presence of dermatophytes, and the diagnosis of DPF was made based on a positive result. In the AMF group, 18 (60.0%) and eight (26.7%) patients had DPF and diabetes, respectively. Four patients (13.3%) had both DPF and diabetes. In the control group, 25 (29.8%) and 11 (13.1%) patients had DPF and diabetes, respectively. Five patients (6.0%) had both DPF and diabetes. Univariate analyses showed a significantly higher prevalence of DPF in the AMF group than in the control group (odds ratio, 3.540; p = 0.003, Pearson χ2 test). Furthermore, multivariate analyses of sex, body mass index, DPF, and diabetes revealed DPF as a significant factor associated with AMF (odds ratio, 4.285; p = 0.002, logistic regression analysis). The hyperkeratotic type of DPF was more frequently observed in patients with AMF than in control patients (odds ratio, 11.083; p < 0.001, Pearson χ2 test). In conclusion, the present study found a significantly higher prevalence of DPF, especially its hyperkeratotic type, in patients with AMF. DPF may be associated with AMF pathogenesis. Background: Microsporum audouinii has resurged recently. Infections with the dermatophyte are difficult to treat, which raises the question if we treat M. audouinii infections with the most effective antifungal (AF) agent. Objectives: The aims of this study was to investigate an outbreak of tinea capitis (TC) in Denmark, address the challenges in outbreak management and to conduct two reviews regarding previous outbreaks and minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC). Methods: We used Wood's light, culture, direct microscopy, and PCR for screening and antifungal susceptibility testing (AFST) for treatment optimization. We performed two reviews to explore M. audouinii outbreaks and MIC values using broth microdilution method. Results: Of 73 screened individuals, 10 had confirmed M. audouinii infections. Clinical resistance to griseofulvin was observed in 4 (66%) cases. While previous outbreaks showed high griseofulvin efficacy, our study favoured terbinafine, fluconazole and itraconazole in our hard‐to‐treat cases. AFST guided the choice of AF. Through the literature search, we identified five M. audouinii outbreaks, where differences in management included the use of Wood's light and prophylactic topical AF therapy. Terbinafine MIC values from the literature ranged from 0.002 to 0.125 mg/L. Conclusion: Use of Wood's light and preventive measurements were important for limiting infection. The literature lacked MIC data for griseofulvin against M. audouinii, but indicated sensitivity for terbinafine. The clinical efficacy for M. audouinii treatment was contradictory favouring both terbinafine and griseofulvin. Antifungal-resistant dermatophyte infections have recently emerged as a global public health concern. A survey of US infectious diseases specialists found that only 65% had heard of this issue and just 39% knew how to obtain testing to determine resistance. Increased clinician awareness and access to testing for antifungal-resistant dermatophytosis are needed.

Background: Dermatophytosis is a prevalent superficial infection caused by filamentous fungi, primarily affecting the skin and/or its appendages. In recent years, there has been a notable increase in mycotic strains resistant to standard antifungal therapies, including Trichophyton indotineae, a dermatophyte of the Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the treatment options for T. indotineae, elucidating their effectiveness in managing this challenging mycotic infection. Methods: For this review, a search was conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar databases, encompassing all published data until March 2024. English-language articles detailing therapy outcomes for patients confirmed to be affected by T. indotineae, identified through molecular analysis, were included. Results: Itraconazole was shown to be a good therapeutic choice, particularly when administered at a dosage of 200 mg/day for 1–12 weeks. Voriconazole was also demonstrated to be effective, while terbinafine exhibited a reduced response rate. Griseofulvin and fluconazole, on the other hand, were found to be ineffective. Although topical treatments were mostly ineffective when used alone, they showed promising results when used in combination with systemic therapy. Mutational status was associated with different profiles of treatment response, suggesting the need for a more tailored approach. Conclusions: When managing T. indotineae infections, it is necessary to optimize therapy to mitigate resistances and relapse. Introduction: Superficial mycosis is one of the most common diseases worldwide; however, its epidemiology is changing over time. Aim: To present the awareness of people using swimming pools about athlete's foot and onychomycosis. Material and methods: A total of 690 participants were subjected to an extensive survey administered via Google Documents. The questionnaire consisted of 30 online polling items and aimed to evaluate respondents' knowledge pertaining to fungal infections, encompassing aspects such as prevention strategies, disease trajectory, and therapeutic modalities. The survey sample specifically encompassed students and sports enthusiasts associated with 33 Internet groups, and data collection transpired during the period spanning 12 January to 15 March, 2018, predating the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: In the study, 85.2% of participants regularly inspected their feet, with 4.8% seeking podiatric services. While 75.2% demonstrated hygienic behaviour by changing towels after each pool visit, 41.4% acknowledged sharing nail tools. Notably, 75.7% preferred professional assistance for symptoms, with 24.3% opting for home remedies. Gender disparities were evident, with women showing significantly better hygiene practices and pool usage than men (p < 0.001). Women also exhibited a stronger tendency to disinfect grooming tools and prioritise sterility during beautician services (p < 0.001). These findings emphasise the importance of gender-specific health behaviour analysis in promoting preventive measures. Conclusions: The study highlights onychomycosis as a significant societal concern. BackgroundDermatophytosis, commonly known as tinea, poses a significant public health concern worldwide, especially in environments with poor hygiene and overcrowding, such as prisons. Among 207 914 multimember households with a tinea case, a secondary case was diagnosed in another household member in 8.5%. Excluding same-day diagnoses (20%), the median time from index case to first secondary case was 138 days. We describe a case of tinea genitalis in an immunocompetent woman in Pennsylvania, USA. Infection was caused by Trichophyton indotineae potentially acquired through sexual contact. The fungus was resistant to terbinafine (first-line antifungal) but improved with itraconazole. Clinicians should be aware of T. indotineae as a potential cause of antifungal-resistant genital lesions.

There is increasing evidence of clinically resistant cutaneous fungal infections. The use of combination oral antifungals is described in adults but not in paediatric patients. We present seven paediatric cases of clinically resistant fungal infections treated successfully with combination oral antifungal therapy after inadequate response to a single agent. Complete genome sequences from two Trichophyton indotineae isolates were obtained from a 23-year-old male presenting with tinea cruris after an overseas recreational water exposure and from a 53-year-old female patient with unknown travel history. Analysis of the squalene epoxidase gene and the cyp51 gene family showed an absence of mutations, correlating with phenotypic drug susceptibility. The Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) distance between both isolates was 92. Within the T. indotineae cluster, SNPs ranged from 7 to 182, suggesting a high genetic relatedness with other South Asian isolates. Abstract The epidemiology of psoriasis and cutaneous mycoses is scarce in Brazil. Thus, this cross-sectional study aimed to characterize the distribution of these diseases in Paraná. Data was obtained from the Outpatient Information System (SIA - Sistema de Informações Ambulatoriais), between 2016 and 2020. The procedures were filtered by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). A total of 201,161 outpatient procedures were registered for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The distribution concerning gender was similar (50.93% feminine; 49.07% masculine). The mean age was 51.55 years. The most frequent procedure was methotrexate dispensing (23.17%), followed by acitretin (14.29%) and adalimumab (12.55%). Adjusting to total population, the prevalence of procedures was 0.35%. Regarding cutaneous mycoses, 1,756 procedures were registered. 65% of them referred to females. White race/color was predominant (82.97%). The mean age was 37.6 years. The distribution concerning age varied according to the type of mycosis. Medical appointments (48.92%) and surgical pathology exam/biopsy (38.71%) were the most frequent procedures. The prevalence of procedures was 0.004%. This is the first epidemiological study using SIA about the population affected by psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and cutaneous mycoses in a Brazilian state. We believe that these findings allow relevant contribution to science and public policies in Brazil.

Background: Fungal skin infections are prevalent in developing countries, with dermatophytosis and tinea versicolor being the most prevalent. The KOH test is a practical and easy-to-do examination for diagnosing superficial fungal skin infections on an outpatient basis. Skin scraping is the most known method for collecting samples for KOH testing, but some studies have shown that cellophane tape is also used for a more patient-friendly approach. Purpose: This study is aimed at comparing KOH examinations using cellophane tape and skin scrapings. Methods: This research is a diagnostic test study with a cross-sectional approach. The research data were obtained from 51 medical records of skin patients at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Municipal Hospital with the diagnosis of tinea cruris and tinea corporis who underwent KOH examination with cellophane tape and skin scrapings. Data correlation was analyzed using the Chi square test. Result : From the research, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the use of cellophane tape and skin scrapings in the KOH test sampling for tinea cases (p = 0.153), which indicates that there was no significant difference between the use of the two methods for the diagnosis of dermatophytosis. Conclusion: The tapping method as an alternative method of skin scraping for KOH examination can be used to establish the diagnosis of dermatophytosis.

Background: There has been an alarming increase in recalcitrant dermatophytosis in recent years. The standard treatment guidelines no longer seem effective in achieving clearance and results in high failure rates. Methods: The present study was Prospective comparative study conducted in department of dermatology and venereology and leprology, Patna Medical College and Hospital, Patna, among patients attending in outpatients department. The study was conducted from august 2020 to august 2021. After getting institutional ethical committees’ approval for the use of oral itraconazole and oral terbinafine in patients of dermatophytosis. The patients were allocated into two groups: GROUP I: Daily dose of terbinafine 250mg BD daily for 4 weeks and continue with treatment during follow for 8wk if not cured. GROUP II: Daily dose of itraconazole 100mg BDdaily for 4 weeks and continue with treatment during follow up for 8wk if not cured. Results: This was prospective comparative study of oral Itraconazole and oral terbinafine in patients of Dermatophytosis. The most commonly affected age group was highly productive and working population that was 21-30yrs. By taking 9 point assessment score the severity of lesions were assessed and graded accordingly. On 4 wks of follow up there was reduction of dermoscopic evidence, 34 % and 42% in Group I and group II respectively. At the end of study(8weeks) dermoscopic features of dermatophytosis reduced by 87 % and 91% n group I and group II respectively. Conclusions: It was found that Itraconazole was more efficacious than Terbinafine Although Terbinafine is fungicidal drug with more chances of drug resistance and Itraconazoleis fungistatic with less chances of drug resistance. However, with both drugs the clinical, mycological and dermoscopic cure took more time from the conventional dosage and treatment duration because the patient was treated with only oral therapy without any topical antifungal drugs. Background: Given the current epidemic‐like scenario of dermatophyte infections, it is prudent to revisit the immunopathogenesis of dermatophytosis. Comprehending the intricate interactions among interleukins can aid in understanding the recent trends in infection. There is a paucity of literature on the various cytokine levels observed in the serum of patients suffering from various dermatophytoses. Aim: To study serum cytokine levels of interleukins 2, 8, 10 and 17 in patients with dermatophytosis. Methods: A cross‐sectional analytic study was conducted on 64 cases of clinical dermatophyte infections (KOH confirmed) and 64 controls. The clinico‐epidemiological profile of the cases was studied. By using a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay), the serum levels of interleukins 2, 8, 10 and 17 were measured and compared between cases and controls. Serum interleukin‐2, 8, 10 and 17 levels were studied among cases based on mode of onset, duration of illness, treatment history, site of infection and multiple other morphological characteristics of the infection. Results: The cases had statistically higher levels of interleukins‐8, 10 and 17 in comparison with controls. The levels of interleukin‐8 were significantly lower (p <.05) among those who had received oral antifungals. In cases where the lesion had scaling, the serum levels of interleukin‐10 were significantly higher (p <.05). The lesional hyperpigmentation was significantly (p <.05) associated with low levels of interleukin‐17. Also, interleukin‐17 was significantly (p <.05) elevated in patients with lesions in the abdomen. Conclusion: It is the first time that serum interleukin levels are studied in dermatophytosis. There is an immunological dysfunction specific to dermatophytoses initiated by their infection. Key factor in this dysfunction is the elevation of IL‐10, contributing to persistent infection. In turn, causing an increase in IL‐17, promoting inflammation and tissue damage. This cycle of elevated IL‐10 and IL‐17 can further exacerbate the infection and lead to chronicity. The activity of IL‐2 and the Th1 immune pathway is reduced by two opposing immune pathways: the Th17 and Th2 axes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From 2014-2019, 8 juvenile black bears (Ursus americanus) from different geographic regions were presented to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife because of emaciation, alopecia, and exfoliative dermatitis that resulted in death or euthanasia. Autopsy and histopathology revealed that all 8 bears had generalized hyperkeratotic dermatitis, folliculitis, and furunculosis. Skin structures were heavily colonized by fungal hyphae and arthrospores; fungal cultures of skin from 7 bears yielded Trichophyton equinum, a zoophilic dermatophyte reported only rarely in non-equid species. Additional skin conditions included mites (5), ticks (2), and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus sp. infections (2). No other causes of morbidity or mortality were identified. Molecular comparisons performed at the University of Texas Fungal Reference Laboratory determined that all isolates produced identical banding patterns, potentially representing a clonal population. Dermatophytosis is commonly localized and limited to the stratum corneum of the epidermis and hair follicles. Generalized disease with dermal involvement is rare in immunocompetent individuals; illness, malnutrition, age, or immunosuppression may increase susceptibility. Underlying causes for the severe disease impact in these bears were not evident after physical or postmortem examination. The mechanism by which bears from different geographic locations had severe, T. equinum-associated dermatophytosis from a potentially clonal dermatophyte could not be explained and warrants further investigation.

BackgroundAppropriate use criteria (AUC) provide patient-centered physician guidance in test selection. An initial set of AUC was reported by the American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP) in 2018. AUC reflect evidence collected at single timepoints and may be affected by evolving evidence and experience. The objective of this study was to update and expand AUC for selected tests.MethodsRAND/UCLA (RAND Corporation [Santa Monica, CA]/University of California Los Angeles) methodology used includes the following: (a) literature review; (b) review of previously rated tests and previously employed clinical scenarios; (c) selection of previously rated tests for new ratings; (d) development of new clinical scenarios; (e) selection of additional tests; (f) three rating rounds with feedback and group discussion after rounds 1 and 2.ResultsFor 220 clinical scenarios comprising lymphoproliferative (light chain clonality), melanocytic (comparative genomic hybridization, fluorescence in situ hybridization, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, telomerase reverse transcriptase promoter), vascular disorders (MYC), and inflammatory dermatoses (periodic acid-Schiff, Gömöri methenamine silver), consensus by panel raters was reached in 172 of 220 (78%) scenarios, with 103 of 148 (70%) rated "usually appropriate" or "rarely appropriate" and 45 of 148 (30%), "appropriateness uncertain."LimitationsThe study design only measures appropriateness. Cost, availability, test comparison, and additional clinical considerations are not measured. The possibility that the findings of this study may be influenced by the inherent biases of the dermatopathologists involved in the study cannot be excluded.ConclusionsAUC are reported for selected diagnostic tests in clinical scenarios that occur in dermatopathology practice. Adhering to AUC may reduce inappropriate test utilization and improve healthcare delivery.

Transmission of dermatophytes, especially Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII, during sexual intercourse has been recently reported. We report 13 such cases in France. All patients were male; 12 were men who have sex with men. Our findings suggest sexual transmission of this pathogen within a specific population, men who have sex with men.

OBJECTIVE: To describe a rare case of Juvenile Xanthogranuloma (JXG) in an infant in order to inform more about this pathology little described in academia, thus avoiding unnecessary treatments and approaches. CASE DESCRIPTION: This is a 4-month-old infant with a single nodular lesion in the abdomen that has progressively evolved since birth. A crusty-looking lesion with small adjacent nodules, central ulceration and blurred borders, approximately 3 centimeters in diameter. With the diagnostic hypothesis of impetigo raised, he used topical and oral antibiotics, without success. Then, suspected of dermatophytosis, he used antifungal agents, without improvement. Due to the persistence of the lesion, an ultrasound of the lesion was requested and referred to a dermatologist. Only after the biopsy was the diagnosis of JXG confirmed. COMMENTS: JXG is a rare and benign pathology, belonging to the group of non-Langerhans histiocytosis that typically appears in pediatric age. Lesions most commonly occur on the skin and have a characteristic morphology. They are usually asymptomatic and spontaneous regression is expected in approximately five years. However, the disease can lead to extracutaneous involvement and other important pathologies may be related to the condition, thus requiring an extension of workup to prevent irreversible sequelae to the patient.

We retrospectively reviewed physician diagnostic and treatment practices for pediatric tinea capitis at an academic institution over 16 years, in assessing adherence with published guidelines. We demonstrate the need to increase utilization of confirmatory testing and systemic therapy, and call for directed pediatrician education towards these goals.

Background: Though higher doses of terbinafine are often prescribed to treat dermatophyte infections, it is unknown if such doses are more effective than the conventional dose because comparative data are unavailable. Aim: To compare the efficacy and safety of a once-daily dose of oral terbinafine 250 mg with 500 mg along with topical clotrimazole in the treatment of tinea infections. Methods: A randomised, assessor-blinded, comparative study was carried out. Each group of subjects were administered either 250 mg or 500 mg oral terbinafine once daily for four weeks, along with topical clotrimazole. Clinical improvement was assessed after two weeks and again after four weeks from treatment initiation. Result: A total of 60 patients with tinea corporis and cruris were randomised into two groups receiving either 250 mg (group A) or 500 mg (group B) oral terbinafine, along with clotrimazole cream in both groups. Baseline clinical parameters such as lesional activity (papules, vesicles and pustules), degree of erythema, scaling and severity of itching were comparable between both treatment arms. At the first and second follow-ups, no significant differences were found in the clinical parameters between the two groups. At the end of two weeks 13.8% of group A and 14.3% of group B and after 4 weeks 25.9% of group A and 33.3% of group B participants became KOH negative (P = 1.00 and 0.76, respectively). No significant difference in culture negativity was reported at the end of therapy (four weeks) between the two treatment arms (P = 0.78). Overall cure rates were 20% and 33.3% in the two treatment arms respectively at the end of the study (P = 0.82). Conclusion: Oral terbinafine 250 mg daily yielded a poor cure rate in tinea cruris and corporis after 4 weeks of treatment and an increased dose of 500 mg did not have any additional benefit. The skin, besides being the largest interface between the body and the external environment, also forms an ecological niche which is populated by almost a trillion microorganisms. These, collectively known as the cutaneous microbiome, form a dynamic yet well-controlled system that resists invasion by pathogenic microorganisms, functioning as the so-called 'microbiological barrier', modulating the body's immune response, indirectly playing a crucial role in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory diseases. The composition and complexity of the microbiome are yet to be fully understood. The term 'dysbiosis' originally was coined in 1908 for a change in the gut microbiome. The potential role of 'cutaneous dysbiosis' in human dermatophytic infections, especially in the backdrop of the current epidemic of chronic, recurrent and treatment-resistant dermatophytosis, is understandably a topic of interest. The purpose of this review was to assess all studies using culture-independent methods for analysing the skin microbiome in various dermatophyte infections. The PubMed and Google Scholar databases were searched using the terms 'microbiome', 'dysbiosis', 'dermatophytes', 'dermatophytosis' and 'tinea'. All studies involving the use of standard sequencing methods for the study of the microbiome in various dermatophytoses were included. A total of four studies assessing the local skin microbiome associated with dermatophytic infections were found—one for tinea capitis, one for onychomycosis (in both psoriatic and nonpsoriatic nails) and two studying patients of tinea pedis. The studies determined the microbiological patterns in patients and compared them with healthy individuals using sequencing methods. Significant differences in the species diversity and counts of the various microorganisms between patient and control groups were demonstrated in all. However, cross-sectional design and the absence of pre- and post-treatment data along with a limited sample size were the major limitations in all of them. No data regarding other forms of tinea, most importantly, tinea cruris, corporis, faciei, etc. were found. The existing studies demonstrate a change in the microbiome or dysbiosis associated with cases of dermatophytosis, but are inadequate to determine a causal association. The changes may also be wholly or partly attributed to the effect of the infection. Further longitudinal studies from different regions of the world, also involving other forms of dermatophytosis, are required to provide a clearer insight and a more representative picture. Unani physicians have suggested a wide range of anti-dermatophytic remedies, although the scientific evidence is scarce. Thus, the efficacy and safety of Terminalia chebula Retz. fruit powder mixed with vinegar was compared with terbinafine hydrochloride 1% cream in the treatment of tinea corporis in order to establish the non-inferiority of test drugs. The primary outcome measures were change in the presence or absence of hyphae on KOH mount test, change in pruritus severity assessed on 100 mm VAS and change in physician's global assessment. Secondary outcome measure was change in the dermatology life quality index (DLQI). Hemograms, serum creatinine, serum bilirubin, and random blood sugar levels were measured at the baseline and after treatment to ensure the safety of the interventions. A per-protocol analysis was done on 40 participants (21 in the test group and 19 in the control group). The observed differences in the primary and secondary outcomes between the test and control groups were greater than the non-inferiority margin, signifying that the test drugs were not inferior. It may be inferred that the trial drug Terminalia chebula Retz. fruit powder mixed with vinegar is not inferior to terbinafine hydrochloride cream in the treatment of tinea corporis. The aim of our study was to investigate the features and agents in patients with dermatophytosis and to evaluate the dermatophyte flora changes in our area in recent years. Patients and Methods: Patients with dermatophytosis were included in our study. The age, gender, social life area, animal contact history of the patients and the clinical types of dermatophytosis were recorded. 443 native preparation positive species were cultured and their pathogens were investigated. There were 367 cases with an age range between 1-79 years. The animal contact history was present in 23,7% and rural area living anamnesis was present in 21.2% of the species having dermatophytosis diagnosis. The ratio of clinical type distributions were determined as follows; T.pedis %41.5, T.unguium on foot+hand %29.2, T.capitis %9.9, T.inguinalis %7.2, T.corporis %6.1, T.manum %3.6, T.facialis %2.0 and T.barba %0.5. The agent could be identified in 76.5% of the species with the rates of T.rubrum 62.5%, T.mentagrophytes 16.8%, T.verrucosum 9.4%, M.canis 4.7%, E.floccosum 3.2%, T.violaceum 1.8%, T.tonsurans 0.9%, M.nanum 0.3 % and T.schonlein 0.3 %. T.rubrum was the most frequent agent causing T.pedis, T.unguium, T.inguinalis. Also T.verrucosum was the most frequent agent in T.capitis, T.corporis and T.barba and it was considered that this could be arised from our animal husbandry region. There have been differentiations in dermatophytosis and their agents today versus their status in 20 years ago in our region.
