Tracheal stents can be used to quickly reconstruct the airway and relieve symptoms of dyspnea in patients with tracheal stenosis. However, existing tracheal stents lead to complications such as granulation tissue formation, difficulty in removal, persistent growth of malignant tumors, stent migration, and mucus plugging. In this article, we reviewed the main methods used to reduce complications associated with tracheal stent design. Drug-eluting stents can inhibit granulation tissue formation and prevent infection and local chemotherapy. The biodegradable stent can support the trachea for some time, maintain tracheal patency, and degrade gradually, which avoids removing or replacing the stent. Radioactive stents loaded with I125 have good potential for inhibiting the persistent growth of malignant tumors. Three-dimensional printing technology enables the manufacturing of patient-specific stents, which increases the degree of matching between the complex tracheal anatomy and the stent, thus providing a new solution for stent migration caused by structural mismatch. Minimizing the barrier of the stent to mucociliary clearance, providing an anti-fouling coating, and culturing respiratory epithelial cells on the surface of the stent are the main methods used to reduce mucus plugging. We also proposed future research directions for tracheal stents to guide the design and manufacture of ideal tracheal stents.

Background: The reproducibility of positron emission tomography (PET) radiomics features is affected by several factors, such as scanning equipment, drug metabolism time and reconstruction algorithm. We aimed to explore the role of 3D local binary pattern (LBP)-based texture in increasing the accuracy and reproducibility of PET radiomics for predicting pelvic lymph node metastasis (PLNM) in patients with cervical cancer. Methods: We retrospectively analysed data from 177 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma. They underwent 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG)whole-body PET/computed tomography (PET/CT), followed by pelvic 18F-FDG PET/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MR). We selected reproducible and informative PET radiomics features using Lin's concordance correlation coefficient, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm, and established 4 models, PET/CT, PET/CT-fusion, PET/MR and PET/MR-fusion, using the logistic regression algorithm. We performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to evaluate the models in the training data set (65 patients who underwent radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection) and test data set (112 patients who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy or no treatment). The DeLong test was used for pairwise comparison of the ROC curves among the models. Results: The distribution of age, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics stage and PLNM between the training and test data sets were different (P < 0.05). The LBP-transformed radiomics features (50/379) had higher reproducibility than the original radiomics features (9/107). Accuracy of each model in predicting PLNM was as follows: training data set: PET/CT = PET/CT-fusion = PET/MR-fusion (0.848) and test data set: PET/CT = PET/CT-fusion (0.985) > PET/MR = PET/MR-fusion (0.954). There was no statistical difference between the ROC curve of PET/CT and PET/MR models in both data sets (P > 0.05). Conclusions: The LBP-transformed radiomics features based on PET images could increase the accuracy and reproducibility of PET radiomics in predicting pelvic lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer to allow the model to be generalised for clinical use across multiple centres.

Abstract Tyrannosaurids were the most derived group of Tyrannosauroidea and are characterized by having two body plans: gracile, long-snouted and robust, deep-snouted skulls. Both groups lived sympatrically in central Asia. Here, we report a new deep-snouted tyrannosaurid, Asiatyrannus xui gen. et sp. nov., from the Upper Cretaceous of Ganzhou City, southeastern China, which has produced the large-bodied and long-snouted Qianzhousaurus. Based on histological analysis, the holotype of Asiatyrannus xui is not a somatically mature adult, but it already passed through the most rapid growth stages. Asiatyrannus is a small to medium-sized tyrannosaurine, with a skull length of 47.5 cm and an estimated total body length of 3.5–4 m; or around half the size of Qianzhousaurus and other large-bodied tyrannosaurines in similar growth stages. Asiatyrannus and Qianzhousaurus are sympatric tyrannosaurid genera in the Maastrichtian of southeastern China. Asiatyrannus differs from Qianzhousaurus in that it has a proportionally deeper snout, longer premaxilla, deeper maxilla, and deeper dentary, and the cornual process of the lacrimal is inflated without developing a discrete horn. The different skull proportions and body sizes suggest that Asiatyrannus and Qianzhousaurus likely had different feeding strategies and occupied different ecological niches.

BackgroundPneumonia and lung cancer have a mutually reinforcing relationship. Lung cancer patients are prone to contracting COVID-19, with poorer prognoses. Additionally, COVID-19 infection can impact anticancer treatments for lung cancer patients. Developing an early diagnostic system for COVID-19 pneumonia can help improve the prognosis of lung cancer patients with COVID-19 infection.MethodThis study proposes a neural network for COVID-19 diagnosis based on non-enhanced CT scans, consisting of two 3D convolutional neural networks (CNN) connected in series to form two diagnostic modules. The first diagnostic module classifies COVID-19 pneumonia patients from other pneumonia patients, while the second diagnostic module distinguishes severe COVID-19 patients from ordinary COVID-19 patients. We also analyzed the correlation between the deep learning features of the two diagnostic modules and various laboratory parameters, including KL-6.ResultThe first diagnostic module achieved an accuracy of 0.9669 on the training set and 0.8884 on the test set, while the second diagnostic module achieved an accuracy of 0.9722 on the training set and 0.9184 on the test set. Strong correlation was observed between the deep learning parameters of the second diagnostic module and KL-6.ConclusionOur neural network can differentiate between COVID-19 pneumonia and other pneumonias on CT images, while also distinguishing between ordinary COVID-19 patients and those with white lung. Patients with white lung in COVID-19 have greater alveolar damage compared to ordinary COVID-19 patients, and our deep learning features can serve as an imaging biomarker.

The cross-linking process of collagen is one of the more important ways to improve the mineralization ability of collagen. However, the regulatory effect of dynamic cross-linking on biomineralization in vitro remains unclear. Dynamic-cross-linked mineralized collagen under different cross-linking processes, according to the process of cross-linking and mineralization of natural bone, was prepared in this study. Mineralization was performed for 12 h at 4, 8, and 12 h of collagen cross-linking. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed the characteristics of dynamic-cross-linked mineralization in terms of morphological transformation and distribution. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis showed the crystallinity characteristics of the hydroxyapatite (HA) crystal formation. Pre-cross-linked dynamic-cross-linked mineralization refers to the process of cross-linking for a period of time and then side cross-linked mineralization. The mineral content, enzyme stability, and mechanical properties of mineralized collagen were improved through a dynamic cross-linking process of pre-cross-linking. The swelling performance was reduced through the dynamic cross-linking process of pre-cross-linking. This study suggests that the dynamic cross-linking process through pre-cross-linking could make it easier for minerals to permeate and deposit between collagen fibers, improve mineralization efficiency, and, thus, enhance the mechanical strength of biomineralization. This study can provide new ideas and a theoretical basis for designing mineralized collagen scaffolds with better bone repair ability.

Mineralized collagen scaffold is one of the best choices for bone defects treatment, but weak mechanical strength is the main factor restricting its development. Recent studies demonstrated that despite being a fundamental form of mechanical stimulation in human activities, the impact of cyclic compressive stress on collagen mineralization remains unclear, with even less known about the dynamic mechanical mechanism. This study employed cyclic compressive stress to investigate its effect on collagen mineralization. The findings revealed that cyclic compressive strain promotes collagen mineralization by facilitating increased mineral penetration into the collagen and altering mineral morphology on the collagen surface. As the mineral volume fraction of mineralized collagen rises, its elastic modulus also increases. Additionally, the finite element simulation results proved that cyclic compressive stress can impact mineral distribution by affecting their transport and deposition, consequently influencing the stress distribution and regulating mechanical properties of mineralized collagen. Alterations in mechanical properties provide feedback on internal stress distribution, subsequently impacting mineral mineralization. This study achieves a closed-loop study on the mechanical regulated collagen mineralization, offers insight into the mechanism of collagen mineralization, paving the way for further exploration of biomineralization mechanisms and potentially inspiring novel approaches for the fabrication of mineralized collagen scaffolds.

To investigate the effects of transcatheter heart valve (THV) poses and bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) subtypes on coronary hemodynamics after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The computational models for BAV included left-right fusion (LR), non-coronary-left fusion (LN) and non-coronary-right fusion (RN). THV deployment height is defined as the distance below the aortic annulus of the lowest point of the stent, H1 ​= ​2 ​mm, H2 ​= ​5 ​mm and H3 ​= ​8 ​mm, Orientations include O1 (one commissure is aligned with the raphe) and O2 (one commissure is aligned with the axis of non-fused leaflet symmetry). The maximum flow velocity (Vmax), mean wall shear stress (mWSS) and coronary perfusion pressure (CPP) of coronary were obtained by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. The CPP was 59% in left coronary and 82% in right coronary higher than that before deployment. At O1, the CPP of the LN left coronary and the RN right coronary was 74% and 79% higher than that before deployment. At O2, the CPP of the LN right coronary and the RN left coronary was 83% and 82% higher than that before deployment. When the THV deployment height is less than 2 ​mm, Vmax and CPP of coronary arteries do not return to healthy TAV levels or changed weakly. The overlap of the THV commissure with the coronary ostium makes the coronary CPP so large that it exceeds the level of a healthy TAV.

Abstract The bone matrix plays an indispensable role in the human body, and its unique biomechanical and mechanobiological properties have received much attention. The bone matrix has unique mechanical anisotropy and exhibits both strong toughness and high strength. These mechanical properties are closely associated with human life activities and correspond to the function of bone in the human body. None of the mechanical properties exhibited by the bone matrix is independent of its composition and structure. Studies on the biomechanics of the bone matrix can provide a reference for the preparation of more applicable bone substitute implants, bone biomimetic materials and scaffolds for bone tissue repair in humans, as well as for biomimetic applications in other fields. In providing mechanical support to the human body, bone is constantly exposed to mechanical stimuli. Through the study of the mechanobiology of the bone matrix, the response mechanism of the bone matrix to its surrounding mechanical environment can be elucidated and used for the health maintenance of bone tissue and defect regeneration. This paper summarizes the biomechanical properties of the bone matrix and their biological significance, discusses the compositional and structural basis by which the bone matrix is capable of exhibiting these mechanical properties, and studies the effects of mechanical stimuli, especially fluid shear stress, on the components of the bone matrix, cells and their interactions. The problems that occur with regard to the biomechanics and mechanobiology of the bone matrix and the corresponding challenges that may need to be faced in the future are also described.

Differences in concentration of molecules can cause different molecular diffusion. This issue has not been well studied in the vascular remodeling process with regards to is-stent restenosis. This study designed and built a model to explore the effect of differences in vascular cell concentration on vascular remodeling.Finite element analysis (FEA) models and the agent-based models (ABMs) were established to simulate the damage and proliferation process of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) caused by coronary artery stent implantation. The FEA model simulated the expansion of the stent in the coronary artery, the tensile stress was captured and imported into the ABM, and the damaged VSMCs proliferated to reduce their damage level. VSMCs were randomly distributed within a defined domain, and the number of VSMCs in a unit volume (or area) was defined as the concentration of VSMCs. VSMCs with the smallest concentration of VSMCs will preferentially proliferate, which simulates the cell proliferation affected by the concentration of VSMCs.The results showed that after stent implantation, VSMCs proliferated gradually from the severely damaged stent area to the lumen until the artery reached a steady state. By comparison, the loss of arterial lumen and the number of newly grown VSMCs were greater in the presence of the concentration than in its absence.Cells made full use of the lumen space under the influence of concentration differences, so the concentration was of great significance to vascular remodeling.

Current research on the fatigue properties of degradable zinc alloy stents has not yet considered the issue of the fatigue life changing with material properties during the dynamic degradation process. Therefore, in this paper, we established a fatigue damage algorithm to study the fatigue problem affected by the changing of material properties during the dynamic degradation process of the stent under the action of pulsating cyclic loading. Three models: the dynamic degradation model, the dynamic degradation model under pulsating cyclic loading, and the coupled model of fatigue damage and dynamic degradation, were developed to verify the effect of fatigue damage on stent life. The results show that fatigue damage leads to a deeper degree of inhomogeneous degradation of the stent, which affects the service life of the stent. Fatigue damage is a factor that cannot be ignored. Therefore, when studying the mechanical properties and lifetime of degradable stents, incorporating fatigue damage into the study can help more accurately assess the lifetime of the stents.

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation is one of the most commonly used approaches to treat coronary artery stenosis. Stent malapposition (SM) can increase the incidence of stent thrombosis, but the quantitative association between SM distance and stent thrombosis is poorly clarified. The objective of this study is to determine the biomechanical reaction mechanisms underlying stent thrombosis induced by SM and to quantify the effect of different SM severity grades on thrombosis. The thrombus simulation was performed in a continuous model based on the diffusion-convection response of blood substance transport. Simulated models included well-apposed stents and malapposed stents with various severities where the detachment distances ranged from 0 to 400 μm. The abnormal shear stress induced by SM was considered a critical contributor affecting stent thrombosis, which was dependent on changing SM distances in the simulation. The results illustrate that the proportion of thrombus volume was 1.88% at a SM distance of 75 μm (mild), 3.46% at 150 μm, and 3.93% at 400 μm (severe), but that a slight drop (3.18%) appeared at the detachment distance of 225 μm (intermediate). The results indicate that when the SM distance was less than 150 μm, the thrombus rose notably as the gap distance increased, whereas the progression of thrombogenicity weakened when it exceeded 150 μm. Therefore, more attention should be paid when SM is present at a gap distance of 150 μm. Moreover, when the SM length of stents are the same, thrombus tends to accumulate downstream towards the distal end of the stent as the SM distance increases.

Successful regeneration of large segmental bone defects remains a major challenge in clinical orthopedics, thus it is of important significance to fabricate a suitable alternative material to stimulate bone regeneration. Due to their excellent biocompatibility, sufficient mechanical strength, and similar structure and composition of natural bone, the mineralized collagen scaffolds (MCSs) have been increasingly used as bone substitutes via tissue engineering approaches. Herein, we thoroughly summarize the state of the art of MCSs as tissue-engineered scaffolds for acceleration of bone repair, including their fabrication methods, critical factors for osteogenesis regulation, current opportunities and challenges in the future. First, the current fabrication methods for MCSs, mainly including direct mineral composite, in-situ mineralization and 3D printing techniques, have been proposed to improve their biomimetic physical structures in this review. Meanwhile, three aspects of physical (mechanics and morphology), biological (cells and growth factors) and chemical (composition and cross-linking) cues are described as the critical factors for regulating the osteogenic feature of MCSs. Finally, the opportunities and challenges associated with MCSs as bone tissue-engineered scaffolds are also discussed to point out the future directions for building the next generation of MCSs that should be endowed with satisfactorily mimetic structures and appropriately biological characters for bone regeneration.

Background: The conventional FFRct numerical calculation method uses a model with a multi-scale geometry based upon CFD, and rigid walls. Therefore, important interactions between the elastic vessel wall and blood flow are not routinely considered. Changes in the resistance of coronary microcirculation during hyperaemia are likewise not typically incorporated using a fluid–structure interaction (FSI) algorithm. It is likely that both have resulted in FFRct calculation errors.Objective: In this study we incorporated both the influence of vascular elasticity and coronary microcirculatory structure on FFR, to improve the accuracy of FFRct calculation. Thus, in this study, a physics-driven 3D–0D coupled model including fluid–structure interaction was established to calculate accurate FFRct values.Methods: Based upon a novel geometric multi-scale modeling technology, a FSI simulation approach was used. A lumped parameter model (0D) was used as the outlet boundary condition for the 3D FSI coronary artery model to incorporate physiological microcirculation, with bidirectional coupling between the two models.Results: The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and both positive and negative predictive values of FFRDC calculated based upon the coupled 3D–0D model were 86.7, 66.7, 84.6, 66.7, and 91.7%, respectively. Compared to the calculated value using the basic CFD model (MSE = 5.9%, accuracy rate = 80%), the FFRCFD calculated based on the coupled 3D–0D model has a smaller MSE of 1.9%.Conclusion: The physics-driven coupled 3D–0D model that incorporates fluid–structure interactions not only consider the influence of the elastic vessel wall on blood flow, but also provides reliable microvascular resistance boundary conditions for the 3D FSI model. This allows for a calculation that is based upon conditions that are closer to the physiological environment, and thus improves the accuracy of FFRct calculation. It is likely that more accurate information will provide an enhanced recommendation regarding percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the clinic.

Bone has a special structure that is both stiff and elastic, and the composition of bone confers it with an exceptional mechanical property. However, bone substitute materials that are made of the same hydroxyapatite (HA) and collagen do not offer the same mechanical properties. It is important for bionic bone preparation to understand the structure of bone and the mineralization process and factors. In this paper, the research on the mineralization of collagen is reviewed in terms of the mechanical properties in recent years. Firstly, the structure and mechanical properties of bone are analyzed, and the differences of bone in different parts are described. Then, different scaffolds for bone repair are suggested considering bone repair sites. Mineralized collagen seems to be a better option for new composite scaffolds. Last, the paper introduces the most common method to prepare mineralized collagen and summarizes the factors influencing collagen mineralization and methods to analyze its mechanical properties. In conclusion, mineralized collagen is thought to be an ideal bone substitute material because it promotes faster development. Among the factors that promote collagen mineralization, more attention should be given to the mechanical loading factors of bone.

Standard methods of subspace clustering are based on self-expressiveness in the original data space, which states that a data point in a subspace can be expressed as a linear combination of other points. However, the real data in raw form are usually not well aligned with the linear subspace model. Therefore, it is crucial to obtain a proper feature space for performing high quality subspace clustering. Inspired by the success of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for extraction powerful features from visual data and the block diagonal prior for learning a good affinity matrix from self-expression coefficients, in this paper, we propose a jointly trainable feature extraction and affinity learning framework with the block diagonal prior, termed as Convolutional Subspace Clustering Network with Block Diagonal prior (ConvSCN-BD), in which we solve the joint optimization problem in ConvSCN-BD via an alternating minimization algorithm, which updates the parameters in the convolutional modules and the self-expression coefficients with stochastic gradients descent and updates other variables with close-form solutions alternatingly. In addition, we derive the connection between the block diagonal prior and the subspace structured norm, and reveal that using the block diagonal prior on the affinity matrix is essentially incorporating the feedback information from spectral clustering. Experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrated the effectiveness of our proposal.

Most of the studies on the finite element analysis (FEA) of biodegradable vascular stents (BVSs) during the degradation process have limited the accuracy of the simulation results due to the application of the uniform degradation model. This paper aims to establish an FEA model for the non-uniform degradation of BVSs by considering factors such as the dynamic changes of the corrosion properties and material properties of the element, as well as the pitting corrosion and stress corrosion. The results revealed that adjusting the corrosion rate according to the number of exposed surfaces of the element and reducing the stress threshold according to the corrosion status accelerates the degradation time of BVSs by 26% and 25%, respectively, compared with the uniform degradation model. The addition of the pitting model reduces the service life of the BVSs by up to 12%. The effective support of the stent to the vessel could reach at least 60% of the treatment effect before the vessel collapsed. These data indicate that the proposed non-uniform degradation model of BVSs with multiple factors produces different phenomena compared with the commonly used models and make the numerical simulation results more consistent with the real degradation scenario.

Traditional inert materials used in internal fixation have caused many complications and generally require removal with secondary surgeries. Biodegradable materials, such as magnesium (Mg)-, iron (Fe)- and zinc (Zn)-based alloys, open up a new pathway to address those issues. During the last decades, Mg-based alloys have attracted much attention by researchers. However, the issues with an over-fast degradation rate and release of hydrogen still need to be overcome. Zn alloys have comparable mechanical properties with traditional metal materials, e.g., titanium (Ti), and have a moderate degradation rate, potentially serving as a good candidate for internal fixation materials, especially at load-bearing sites of the skeleton. Emerging Zn-based alloys and composites have been developed in recent years and in vitro and in vivo studies have been performed to explore their biodegradability, mechanical property, and biocompatibility in order to move towards the ultimate goal of clinical application in fracture fixation. This article seeks to offer a review of related research progress on Zn-based biodegradable materials, which may provide a useful reference for future studies on Zn-based biodegradable materials targeting applications in orthopedic internal fixation.

Traditional enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) used for the clinical treatment of patients with coronary heart disease only assesses diastolic/systolic blood pressure (Q = D/S > 1.2). However, improvement of the hemodynamic environment surrounding vascular endothelial cells of coronary arteries after long-term application of EECP is the basis of the treatment. Currently, the quantitative hemodynamic mechanism is not well understood. In this study, a standard 0D/3D geometric multi-scale model of the coronary artery was established to simulate the hemodynamic effects of different counterpulsation modes on the vascular endothelium. In this model, the neural regulation caused by counterpulsation was thoroughly considered. Two clinical trials were carried out to verify the numerical calculation model. The results demonstrated that the increase in counterpulsation pressure amplitude and pressurization duration increased coronary blood perfusion and wall shear stress (WSS) and reduced the oscillatory shear index (OSI) of the vascular wall. However, the impact of pressurization duration was the predominant factor. The results of the standard model and the two real individual models indicated that a long pressurization duration would cause more hemodynamic risk areas by resulting in excessive WSS, which could not be reflected by the change in the Q value. Therefore, long-term pressurization during each cardiac cycle therapy is not recommended for patients with coronary heart disease and clinical treatment should not just pay attention to the change in the Q value. Additional physiological indicators can be used to evaluate the effects of counterpulsation treatment.

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) based electrically conductive hydrogels (PNIPAM-ECHs) have been extensively studied in recent decades due to their thermal-responsive (leading to the volume change of hydrogels) and electrically conductive performance. The incorporation of conductive components into the PNIPAM hydrogel network makes it become conductive hydrogel, and as a result, the PNIPAM hydrogel could become sensitive to an electrical signal, greatly expanding its application. In addition, conductive components usually bring new stimuli-responsive properties of PNIPAM-based hydrogels, such as near-infrared light and stress/strain responsive properties. PNIPAM-ECHs display a wide range of applications in human motion detection, actuators, controlled drug release, wound dressings, etc. To summarize recent research advances and achievements related to PNIPAM-ECHs, this manuscript first reviews the design and structure of representative PNIPAM-ECHs according to their conductive components. Then, the applications of PNIPAM-ECHs have been classified and discussed. Finally, the remaining problems related to PNIPAM-ECHs have been summarized and a future research direction is proposed which is to fabricate PNIPAM-ECHs with integrated multifunctionality.

Mineralized collagen is the basic unit in hierarchically organized natural bone with different structures. Polyacrylic acid (PAA) and periodic fluid shear stress (FSS) are the most common chemical and physical means to induce intrafibrillar mineralization. In the present study, non-mineralized collagen, extrafibrillar mineralized (EM) collagen, intrafibrillar mineralized (IM) collagen, and hierarchical intrafibrillar mineralized (HIM) collagen induced by PAA and FSS were prepared, respectively. The physical and chemical properties of these mineralized collagens with different microstructures were systematically investigated afterwards. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that mineralized collagen with different microstructures was prepared successfully. The pore density of the mineralized collagen scaffold is higher under the action of periodic FSS. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis showed the formation of the hydroxyapatite (HA) crystal. A significant improvement in the pore density, hydrophilicity, enzymatic stability, and thermal stability of the mineralized collagen indicated that the IM collagen under the action of periodic FSS was beneficial for maintaining collagen activity. HIM collagen fibers, which are prepared under the co-action of periodic FSS and sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP), may pave the way for new bone substitute material applications.

We report a new deltatheroidan mammal from the Upper Cretaceous of Henna, China. The new taxon, Lotheridium mengi, is based on a nearly complete skull and associated lower jaws with full adult dentition. Deltatheroidans are known mostly from fragmentary specimens from Asia and North America. Previous views on deltatheroidan relationships were diverse, but recent studies favored their metatherian affinity. The new specimen represents the most complete skull known for deltatheroidans and provides additional evidence that deltatheroidans already had the distinctive metatherian dental formula and replacement pattern and several other derived metatherian features, supporting the metatherian status for this clade. The new species also indicates that deltatheroidan mammals were more diverse and had broader geographical distributions than previously thought.

Lung is the most important gas exchange organ of human, and the smooth airway is the basis of lung function. The condition of the trachea is associated with a variety of diseases. In this paper several methods of tracheal simulation based on CT-based data since 2003 are reviewed. Reasonable algorithms and image processing methods are important development directions for airway scanning reconstruction.
