In view of increasing attention to positive psychological resources in the field of oncology, it is necessary to explore the effects of these resources on depressive symptoms. This study explored the relations between social support and depressive symptoms, and whether resilience played a mediating role. A cross-sectional study was performed between August 2018 and March 2019. Perceived social support, resilience, and depressive symptoms were measured with the Multi-dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression (CES-D) scale and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Hierarchical linear regression analyses were used to assess the mediating role of resilience between these variables. A total of 230 OC survivors were enrolled and finally 217 patients completed the questionnaires. The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 50.7%. After controlling for covariates, perceived social support was negatively correlated with depressive symptoms and explained 22.8% of the variance. In addition, after controlling for covariates and perceived social support, resilience was also negatively associated with depressive symptoms and explained 18.1% of the variance. Resilience could partially mediate the associations of perceived social support with depressive symptoms. Depressive symptoms in OC patients should be concerned. Perceived social support and resilience were both positive psychological resources for resisting depressive symptoms, and resilience could mediate the association between social support and depressive symptoms. It was critical to focus on social support as well as resilience in the psychosocial interventions of OC patients.

Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) seriously affects the reproductive health of women. Several studies have been conducted to show that POI appears to be associated with psychological and psychosocial problems, but whether POI increases the risk of mental health problems has not been identified. Therefore, this meta-analysis provides a preliminary systematic assessment of the studies published to date on the impact of POI on women's mental health., Methods: We implemented a systematic search for studies on this topic up to October 2022. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confident intervals (CIs) of prevalence were used to assess the impacts of POI on various psychological factors, and the publication bias was assessed by Egger's test., Results: A total of 15 articles comprising 5820 participants were included in this meta-analysis. POI was found to be related to higher risk of 13 psychological and psychosocial problems identified and classified into 3 domains: depression (OR = 1.61; 95% CI: 1.11-2.33), anxiety (OR = 3.74; 95% CI: 1.78-7.87), and poor life quality (OR = 2.55, 95% CI: 1.63-3.97)., Conclusion: This meta-analysis reveals that women with POI have an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and poor life quality. The marital status of POI may be a possible influencing factor for depression, meaning that the unmarried status in POI is at high risk of psychological and psychosocial problems.
