The Mg-Fe layered double hydroxides (LDH) are becoming to be a group of promising materials with a lot of applications depending on their properties. These are influenced by the methods of synthesis, where it is not clearly presented which synthesis is suitable for materials with desired parameters. The aim of this work was to synthesize MgFe LDH according to standard recipes used for common MgAl LDH, when showing similarities and differences in-between the samples of Mg-Al and Mg-Fe LDH and derived mixed oxides (MO). Extensive experimental characterization of material structure and surface has been performed. Originally, statistical analysis of the characterization data revealed that LDH from particular synthesis were grouped together, showing statistical similarities. The structure properties of samples from particular synthesis were similar to both series of Mg/Al and Mg/Fe and also for the molar metal ratios 3/1 and 4/1. Oxides were completely rehydrated to the LDH form only for the co-precipitation method. The cell parameters in LDH and rehydrated forms mutually strongly correlated indicating the same layer properties of parent LDH and their rehydrated forms. The oxides that originated from the hydrothermal method had significantly higher densities of basic centres and population of strong O2− basic structures due to the abundance of surface defects and other phases. Oxides prepared by the sol-gel method showed somewhat higher density of the acid centres.

This paper is focused on the catalytic synthesis of butanol from ethanol in a microflow reactor at a constant weight hour space velocity (4.5 h−1) and different reaction temperatures (280, 300 and 350 °C). The reaction was catalysed by Mg-Al mixed oxides (i) pure and (ii) with added transition metals such as Co, Ni, Cu, Mn and Cr (synthesis by coprecipitation). The solid materials were deeply characterised. Other products, such as ethylene, 1,1-diethoxyethane, ethyl acetate, 1-hexanol, etc. were also determined and the reaction pathway for their formation was examined. The metals Cr and Mn did not increase the catalyst activity, which was quite low (maximum 19% at 350 °C). However, the metals Co and Ni positively influenced butanol formation, while Cu positively influenced ethyl acetate formation. Moreover, ethanol conversion increased with increasing temperature, but at the same time the selectivity to butanol decreased., Článek je zaměřen na katalytickou syntézu butanolu z etanolu v mikroprůtokovém reaktoru při konstantním výhovém průtoku a odlišných reakčních teplotách. Reakce byla katalyzována směsnými oxidy Mg-Al s příměsí přechodových kovů jako jsou Co, Ni, Cu, Mn a Cr. Byla testována kompletní reakční cesta.

Dizertační práce se zabývá syntézou, podrobnou charakterizací a následným testováním nových materiálů na bázi zeolitových pěn, připravených alkalickou aktivací přírodních zeolitů, a možností využití těchto materiálů v chemickém průmyslu, zejména jako katalyzátorů, katalyzátorových nosičů nebo adsorbentů. Základní vstupní surovinou, kterou je přírodní zeolit, jehož hlavní složkou je zeolit klinoptilolit, je téměř výlučně mezoporézní materiál s malým měrným povrchem a malým objemem pórů. Jeho využití je z tohoto důvodu omezeno především na aplikace v oblasti čištění odpadních vod a plynů. Alkalickou aktivací této, snadno a cenově dostupné, aluminosilikátové složky, pomocí směsného aktivátoru na bázi hydroxidu draselného a křemičitanu sodného, a následným napěněním této směsi, např. pomocí hliníku nebo peroxidu vodíku, vzniká makroporézní materiál - tuhá anorganická pěna, jejíž vlastnosti lze modifikacemi upravit tak, aby bylo možné materiály využít i v jiném než stavební průmyslu nebo průmyslu žáro-izolací, pro které jsou alkalicky aktivované materiály běžně studovány. Tyto materiály zároveň splňují i požadavky na ekologické a ekonomické materiály., The dissertation thesis deals with the synthesis, detailed characterization and subsequent testing of new materials based on zeolite foams prepared by alkali-activation of natural zeolites, and the possibilities of these materials for using in the chemical industry, especially as catalysts, catalyst supports or adsorbents. The basic feedstock (natural zeolite), where the main component is the clinoptilolite zeolite, is almost exclusively mesoporous material with a small specific surface area and with a small pore volume. For this reason, its use is mainly limited to wastewater and gas treatment applications. Alkali activation of this easy and affordable aluminosilicate component by using mixed activators based on potassium hydroxide and sodium silicate and subsequent foaming by aluminium or hydrogen peroxide produces the macroporous material - solid inorganic foam. The properties of this foam can be modified by post-synthesis modifications to allow the materials to be used in other than the building industry where are the alkali-activated materials commonly used. Alkaline activated aluminosilicate materials have been studied mainly in the building industry as a substitute for concretes, ceramic materials and thermal insulations, but their properties predispose them to much greater use in the chemical industry. The aim of this study is to determine whether the alkaline activated natural zeolites can be modified to obtain a suitable chemical and textural properties for catalyst supports or sorbents. The alkaline activated natural zeolites with the clinoptilolite structure were foamed using Al powder and H2O2 solution. The prepared foam pellets were post-synthetically modified by HCl leaching and analyzed to compare their properties by XRF, XRD, N-2 physisorption, Hg porosimetry, DRIFT, TGA, SEM and the cutting-edge strength methods. The analysis showed that the clinoptilolite structure of the basic raw zeolite was partially preserved and porous materials had sufficient strength, a density of about 0.8 g/cm(3) and a specific surface area up to 160 m(2)/g making them suitable as catalyst supports or sorbents., Alkalicky aktivované aluminosilikátové materiály byly studovány jako materiály pro stavební průmysl jako substituce betonů, keramických materiálů a tepelných izolací, ale jejich vlastnosti je předurčují k mnohem širšímu využití v chemickém průmyslu. Cílem studie bylo získat alkalickou modifikací materiál vhodný jako nosič katalyzátoru nebo sorbent.
