Lipschitz constants for the width and diameter functions of a convex body in $\mathbb R^n$ are found in terms of its diameter and thickness (maximum and minimum of both functions). Also, a dual approach to thickness is proposed.

We prove that in a strongly pseudoconvex domain with smooth boundary, then the length of a geodesic for the Kobayashi-Royden infinitesimal metric between two points is bounded by a constant multiple of the Euclidean distance between the points.

In this note, we introduce the notion of visible boundary points with respect to Kobayashi distance for domains in complex euclidean space. Following the work of Sarkar, we obtain additive and multiplicative localization results about Kobayashi distance near visible boundary points. Then using the additive localization result, we show that visibility property with respect to Kobayashi distance is a local property of the boundary points and it does not depend on the domain.

We introduce the notion of locally visible and locally Gromov hyperbolic domains in $\mathbb C^d$. We prove that a bounded domain in $\mathbb C^d$ is locally visible and locally Gromov hyperbolic if and only if it is (globally) visible and Gromov hyperbolic with respect to the Kobayashi distance. This allows to detect, from local information near the boundary, those domains which are Gromov hyperbolic and for which biholomorphisms extend continuously up to the boundary., Comment: 25 pages

We obtain explicit bounds on the difference and ratio between "local" and "global" Kobayashi distances in a domain of $\mathbb C^n$ as the points go toward a boundary point with appropriate geometric properties. We use this for the global comparison of various invariant distances. Let $D\subset \mathbb C^n$ be a bounded domain. A pair of distinct boundary points $\{p,q\}$ of $D$ has the visibility property provided there exist a compact subset $K_{p,q}\subset D$ and open neighborhoods $U_p$ of $p$ and $U_q$ of $q$, such that the real geodesics for the Kobayashi metric of $D$ which join points in $U_p$ and $U_q$ intersect $K_{p,q}$. Every Gromov hyperbolic convex domain enjoys the visibility property for any couple of boundary points. The Goldilocks domains introduced by Bharali and Zimmer and the log-type domains of Liu and Wang also enjoy the visibility property. In this paper we relate the growth of the Kobayashi distance near the boundary with visibility and provide new families of convex domains where that property holds. We use the same methods to provide refinements of localization results for the Kobayashi distance, and give a localized sufficient condition for visibility. It is shown that even a weak multidimensional Suita conjecture fails for any bounded non-pseudoconvex domain with $\mathcal C^1$ boundary: the product of the Bergman kernel by the volume of the indicatrix of the Azukawa metric is not bounded below. This is obtained by finding a direction along which the Sibony metric tends to infinity as the base point tends to the boundary. The analogous statement fails for a Lipschitz boundary. For a general $\mathcal C^1$ boundary, we give estimates for the Sibony metric in terms of some directional distance functions. For bounded pseudoconvex domains, the Blocki-Zwonek Suita-type theorem implies growth to infinity of the Bergman kernel; the fact that the Bergman kernel grows as the square of the reciprocal of the distance to the boundary, proved by S. This survey shows how, for the Nevanlinna class N of the unit disc, one can define and often characterize the analogues of well-known objects and properties related to the algebra of bounded analytic functions $ H^\infty$: interpolating sequences, Corona theorem, sets of determination, stable rank, as well as the more recent notions of Weak Embedding Property and threshold of invertibility for quotient algebras. The general rule we observe is that a given result for $H^\infty$ can be transposed to N by replacing uniform bounds by a suitable control by positive harmonic functions. We show several instances where this rule applies, as well as some exceptions. We also briefly discuss the situation for the related Smirnov class., Comment: 3 pages

In the spirit of Kobayashi's applications of methods of invariant metrics to questions of projective geometry, we introduce a projective analogue of the complex squeezing function. Using Frankel's work, we prove that for convex domains it stays uniformly bounded from below. In the case of strongly convex domains, we show that it tends to 1 at the boundary. This is applied to get a new proof of a projective analogue of the Wong-Rosay theorem.

Let $\mathcal{N}$ be the Nevanlinna class and let $B$ be a Blaschke product. It is shown that the natural invertibility criterion in the quotient algebra $\mathcal{N} / B \mathcal{N}$, that is, $|f| \ge e^{-H} $ on the set $B^{-1}\{0\}$ for some positive harmonic function $H$, holds if and only if the function $- \log |B|$ has a harmonic majorant on the set $\{z\in\mathbb{D}:\rho(z,\Lambda)\geq e^{-H(z)}\}$; at least for large enough functions $H$. We also study the corresponding class of positive harmonic functions $H$ in the unit disc such that the latter condition holds. We also discuss the analogous invertibility problem in quotients of the Smirnov class.

It is proved that for any domain in $\mathbb C^n$ the Caratheodory--Eisenman volume is comparable with the volume of the indicatrix of the Caratheodory metric up to small/large constants depending only on $n.$ Then the "multidimensional Suita conjecture" theorem of Blocki and Zwonek implies a comparable relationship between these volumes and the Bergman kernel., Comment: 5 pages

Let $I$ be an inner function in the unit disk $\mathbb D$ and let $\mathcal N$ denote the Nevanlinna class. We prove that under natural assumptions, Bezout equations in the quotient algebra $\mathcal N/I\mathcal N$ can be solved if and only if the zeros of $I$ form a finite union of Nevanlinna interpolating sequences. This is in contrast with the situation in the algebra of bounded analytic functions, where being a finite union of interpolating sequences is a sufficient but not necessary condition. An analogous result in the Smirnov class is proved as well as several equivalent descriptions of Blaschke products whose zeros form a finite union of interpolating sequences in the Nevanlinna class., Comment: 22 pages

We use a special version of the Corona Theorem in several variables, valid when all but one of the data functions are smooth, to generalize to the polydisc and to the ball results obtained by El Fallah, Kellay and Seip about cyclicity of non vanishing bounded holomorphic functions in large enough Banach spaces of analytic functions determined either by weighted sums of powers of Taylor coefficients or by radially weighted integrals of powers of the modulus of the function., Comment: Version 3: we took into account a recent result of Michael Hartz which, in several variables, is a substitute for the von Neumann inequality. We extend the upper estimates obtained by M. Carlehed and B.-Y. Chen about the ratio of the classical and pluricomplex Green functions to the case of $\mathcal C^2$-smooth locally $\mathbb C$-convexifiable domains of finite type. We also give some lower estimates. In order to obtain those results, and because it is of independent interest, we refine and unify some classical estimates about the Kobayashi distance and the Lempert function in such domains., Comment: v3: Ann. Following Gorkin, Mortini, and Nikolski, we say that an inner function $I$ in $H^\infty$ of the unit disc has the WEP property if its modulus at a point $z$ is bounded from below by a function of the distance from $z$ to the zero set of $I$. This is equivalent to a number of properties, and we establish some consequences of this for $H^\infty/IH^\infty$. The bulk of the paper is devoted to "wepable" functions, i.e. those inner functions which can be made WEP after multiplication by a suitable Blaschke product. We prove that a closed subset $E$ of the unit circle is of finite entropy (i.e. is a Beurling-Carleson set) if and only if any singular measure supported on $E$ gives rise to a wepable singular inner function. As a corollary, we see that singular measures which spread their mass too evenly cannot give rise to wepable singular inner functions. Furthermore, we prove that the stronger property of porosity of $E$ is equivalent to a stronger form of wepability ("easy wepability") for the singular inner functions with support in $E$. Finally, we find out the critical decay rate of masses of atomic measures (with no restrictions on support) guaranteeing that the corresponding singular inner functions are easily wepable., Comment: 25 p

We study the limits of pluricomplex Green functions with four poles tending to the origin in a hyperconvex domain, and the (related) limits of the ideals of holomorphic functions vanishing on those points. Taking subsequences, we always assume that the directions defined by pairs of points stabilize as they tend to $0$. We prove that in a generic case, the limit of the Green functions is always the same, while the limits of ideals are distinct (in contrast to the three point case). We also study some exceptional cases, where only the limits of ideals are determined. In order to do this, we establish a useful result linking the length of the upper or lower limits of a family of ideals, and its convergence., Comment: 16 pages

In the paper we show the equality between the Lempert function and the Green function with two poles with equal weights in the bidisc thus giving the positive answer to a conjecture of Coman in the simplest unknown case. Actually, a slightly more general equality is proven which in some sense is natural when studied from the point of view of the Nevanlinna-Pick problem in the bidisc.
