The phase space dynamics generated by different orthogonal polynomial self-interactions exhibited in higher order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation (NLSE) are often less intuitive than those ofcubic and quintic nonlinearities. Even for nonlinearities as simple as a cubic in NLSE, the dynamics for generic initial states shows surprising features. In this Letter, for the first time, we identify the higher-order nonlinearities in terms of orthogonal polynomials in the generalized NLSE/GPE. More pertinently, we explicate different exotic phase space structures for three specific examples: (i) Hermite, (ii) Chebyshev, and (iii) Laguerre polynomial self-interactions. For the first two self-interactions, we exhibit that the alternating signs of the various higher-order nonlinearities are naturally embedded in these orthogonal polynomials that confirm to the experimental conditions. To simulate the phase-space dynamics that bring about by the Laguerre self-interactions, a source term should {\it necessarily} be included in the modified NLSE/GPE. Recent experiments suggest that this modified GPE captures the dynamics of self-bound quantum droplets, in the presence of external source.

In this paper we explore explicit exact solutions of the $SU(2)$ Yang-Mills (YM) and Yang-Mill-Higgs (YMH) equations with homogeneous and inhomogeneous external sources. In this paper, we study the controllable behavior of nonautonomous matter waves in different "smart" transient trap variations in the context of the cigar-shaped Bose-Einstein condensates. By utilizing a self-similarity transformation we reduce the nonautonomous Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation to the elliptic equation that admits soliton solutions. This procedure leads to a consistency equation which is in the form of Riccati equation. The connection between the Riccati and the linear Schr\"odinger equation, through the Cole-Hopf transformation, is exploited profitably here to introduce temporal trap variations. For our study, we explore the possibility of using one dimensional exactly solvable (ES) potentials and their newly constructed rational extensions, as functions of time to introduce interesting temporal trap modulations. The fact that the regular potentials and their rational extensions being structurally different, leads to different temporal modulations. We show the existence of nonlinear resonant states in a higher-order nonlinear Schr\"odinger model that appertains to the wave propagation in femtosecond fiber optics, under certain parametric regime. These nonlinear resonant states are analytically illustrated in terms of Gaussian beams, Airy beams, and periodic beams that resulted due to the presence of quadratic, linear, and constant type of `smart' potentials, respectively, of the ensuing model. Interestingly, the nonlinear chirp associated with each of these novel resonant states can be efficiently controlled, by varying the self-steepening term and self-frequency shift. We present exact bright, dark and rogue soliton solutions of generalized higherorder nonlinear Schrodinger equation, describing the ultrashort beam propagation in tapered waveguide amplifier, via a similarity transformation connected with the constant-coefficient Sasa-Satsuma and Hirota equations. Our exact analysis takes recourse to identify the allowed tapering profile in conjunction with appropriate gain function which corresponds to PT-symmetric waveguide. We extend our analysis to study the effect of tapering profiles and higher-order terms on the evolution of self-similar waves and thus enabling one to control the self-similar wave structure and dynamical behavior., Comment: 22 pages, 22 figures

In this paper, an exact explicit solution for the complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation is obtained, by using Lambert W function or omega function. More pertinently, we term them as Lambert W-kink-type solitons, begotten under the influence of intrapulse Raman scattering. Parameter domains are delineated in which these optical solitons exit in the ensuing model. We report the effect of model coefficients on the amplitude of Lambert W-kink solitons, which enables us to control efficiently the pulse intensity and hence their subsequent evolution. Also, moving fronts or optical shock-type solitons are obtained as a byproduct of this model. We explicate the mechanism to control the intensity of these fronts, by fine tuning the spectral filtering or gain parameter. It is exhibited that the frequency chirp associated with these optical solitons depends on the intensity of the wave and saturates to a constant value as the retarded time approaches its asymptotic value., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures, Accepted in Physics Letters A

We have investigated the ($2+1$)-dimensional variable coefficient coupled nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation (vc-CNLSE) in a graded-index waveguide. Similarity transformations are used to convert the vc-CNLSE into constant coefficient CNLSE. Under certain functional constraints we could extract semirational, multi-parametric solution of the associated Manakov system. This family of solutions include known Peregrine soliton, mixture of either bright soliton and rogue wave or dark soliton and rogue wave or breather and rogue wave. Under a distinct set of self-phase modulation (SPM) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) coefficients we could establish symbiotic existence of different soliton pairs as solutions. These soliton pairs may constitute of one bright and a dark soliton, two bright solitons or two dark solitons. Finally, when two wave components are directly proportional, we find bright and dark similaritons, self-similar breathers and rogue waves as different solutions., Comment: Accepted for Publication in Journal of Modern Optics (2015)

We demonstrate analytically and numerically the existence of exact solitons in the form of double-kink and fractional-transform, supported by a symmetric transversally modulated defocusing nonlinearity acting as a psuedopotential combined with an antisymmetric gain-loss profile. We explicate here that the $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry is never broken in the dynamical system under study, even in the absence of any symmetric modulation of linear refractive-index, and the transversally modulated defocusing nonlinearity comes in the way as a requirement to establish the ensuing $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry.

We describe similariton pulse propagation in double-doped optical fibers with the aid of self-similarity analysis of the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with varying dispersion, nonlinearity, gain or absorption, and nonlinear gain. Exact similariton pulses that can propagate self similarly subject to simple scaling rules of this model have been found using a fractional transform. By appropriately tailoring the dispersion profile and nonlinearity, the condition for optimal pulse compression has been obtained. Also, nonlinear chirping of the trigonometric solution has been demonstrated.

We report wide class of exact solutions of the modified Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) in `smart' Jacobi elliptic potentials: $V(\xi)=-V_{0}{\rm sn(\xi,m)}$, $V(\xi)=-V_{0}{\rm cn(\xi,m)}$, and $V(\xi)=-V_{0}{\rm dn(\xi,m)}$ in the presence of external source. Solitonlike solutions, singular solutions, and periodic solutions are found using a recently developed fractional transform: $\rho(\xi)=\frac{A+Bf^2}{1+Df}$, where $f$ is the respective Jacobi elliptic function and the amplitude parameters $A$, $B$, and $D$ {\it nonzero}.
