Architecture Description Languages (ADLs) provide an abstract representation of software systems. Achieving a concrete mapping of such representation into the implementation is one of the principal aspects of MDA (Model Driven Architecture). Integration of ADLs within MDA confers to the MDA platform a higher level of abstraction and a degree of reuse of ADLs. Indeed they have significantly different platform metamodels which make the definition of mapping rules complex. This complexity is clearly noticeable when some software architecture concepts cannot be easily mapped to MDA platform. In this research, we propose to integrate software architecture within MDA. We define also strategy for direct transformation using a UML profile. It represents both software architecture model (PIM) and MDA platform model (PSM) in UML meta-model then elaborates transformation rules between results UML meta-models. The goal is to automate the process of deriving implementation platform from software concepts. Module management is an important task at developers' level in software development organizations. So we consider in this paper software as collection of several modules. Also we study a method of clustering of modules of a large software system. The need of doing such clustering is justified to be an important part of software management in the software development organizations. An algorithm of maintenance and modifications is presented for doing the clustering by the developers in the respective development organizations, whose complexity is calculated. The relationships among geographic dispersion, team processes, and effectiveness in teams carrying out software development work are examined. A study of 218 members of 39 software development work teams was conducted suggesting that geographic dispersion significantly and negatively relates to work processes and team effectiveness.

The distinction between intentional and non-intentional resources leads to a development of a typology of the renewal process of territorial resources. This theoretical framework allows an analysis of the dynamics of cultural resources in the St Petersburg's software industry cluster. The purpose is to demonstrate the process of transformation from an intentional to non-intentional cultural resource, reconciling the Soviet culture with the heritage of the Russian Empire. As a result of changes in the political and social environment, this specific cultural resource from which St Petersburg's software companies current benefit will eventually face the problem of its renewal.

While typical examples of value chains are manufacturing industries such as paper and car production, typical examples of value shops are law firms and medical hospitals. Often, such companies are called professional service firms or knowledge-intensive service firms. Like the medical hospital as a way to practice medicine, the law firm provides a standard format for delivering complex legal services. Similarly, software firms carry out knowledge work to solve client problems through software development.

Bernroider This article provides insights into e-marketing utilisation in terms of Business-to-Consumer (B2C) e-business in conjunction with endogenous success factors and business performance-related criteria for Austrian micro and small to medium software enterprises (MEs and SMEs). The exploratory analysis is based on primary data collected from 141 Austrian software firms. For SMEs, the variability in e-marketing usage is very low; a majority utilises e-marketing. For MEs, the distribution is very symmetric, showing a large proportion operating with traditional marketing instruments only. The study reveals that firms that perceive their relative strengths on branding, pricing, product diversity, internationalisation and access to new technologies have adopted more advanced e-marketing support. The results reveal evidence supporting a positive relationship between assessed organisational performance factors and e-marketing utilisation especially in MEs. The research assumption that a more intense e-marketing usage is connected with a stronger competitive position is supported by the analysis.

Goh With an increasing attention being paid to Six-Sigma applications in the software industry, there has been an increasing alignment between Six-Sigma and the Goal Question Measurement or GQM approach. Questions have been raised such as whether Six-Sigma is totally different from GQM, or is there 'nothing new' in Six-Sigma. Also, are there potential conflicts between these two prominent approaches? Do they provide software companies with an 'either', 'or' solution, or can the two be combined? In this paper, we explore the differences and similarities as well as the strengths and weaknesses between Six-Sigma and GQM. Some conclusions and recommendations are presented in this light.
