Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) generally operate with a 28 V DC electrical system. However, the demand for electrical power in AFVs has exceeded the capabilities of the existing 28V system. The additional load growth necessitates larger wire sizes, which adds extra weight and cost to the vehicle. Introducing a dual-bus architecture (28 V DC and 270 V DC) can lead to the efficient operation of the electrical system while meeting future demand. This paper presents the design of a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Dual Voltage Generator (DVG), which simultaneously outputs two voltages (28 V DC & 270 V DC) from a single frame across a wide operational speed range. The design process includes a detailed description of the individual stages, accompanied by analytical parameters and software-generated results. The modeling and analysis of the generator were carried out using Motorsolve design software. The obtained results are presented and thoroughly discussed in this paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cassia auriculata is an important medicinal herb traditionally used for the treatment and management of diabetes. Scientific research has reported some bioactivities related to traditional roles that include antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic, which could inhibit onset of diabetes. Our aim was twofold: To review the presence of phytochemical compounds in plant extracts and to perform an in-papyro evaluation of their antidiabetic potential. A detailed literature survey was carried out for evaluating metabolic syndrome-related medicinal bioactivities and antidiabetic activity from specific compounds of C. auriculata. We uncovered a wide range of medicinal uses of C. auriculata in Ayurveda and Sri Lankan medicinal traditions and cultures. Many of the compounds in C. auriculata extracts have already been reported for their specific antidiabetic, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic activities, which exhibited positive effects on neuro, renal, and liver support. In conclusion, our findings suggested that the phytocomposition of C. auriculata could be attributed to the presence of antidiabetic activity through various mechanisms.

Abstract Background Medicinal and aromatic plants have the potential to treat various disorders both human and animals. This present work investigated the hepatoprotective and antioxidant potential of aqueous extract of Ipomoea staphylina leaves on Wistar rats against CCl4-induced liver injury. Methods In vitro free radical scavenging activity of aqueous extract of Ipomoea staphylina (AIS) was estimated using ABTS [2, 2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)} and DPPH (2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radicals. Pharmacologically important phytochemicals such as phenolic compounds and flavonoids were analyzed using HPLC technique. Hepatotoxicity was induced by oral administration of CCl4 at 1 mL/kg body weight of Wistar rats twice a week for 8 weeks. Experimental rats received AIS orally at the doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg daily for 8 weeks. Silymarin, a routine hepatoprotective drug, was used as a reference drug. Results Total phenolics and flavonoid content of AIS are 20.78 ± 0.86 mg of GAE/g and 17.78 ± 0.45 mg of RE/g of extract respectively. ABTS and DPPH free radical scavenging activity of AIS exhibits the IC50 value of 32.08 ± 0. 12 and 45.24 ± 0.65 μg/mL respectively. HPLC analysis of AIS showed the presence of polyphenolic compounds such as protocatechuic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, vanillin, p-coumaric acid, naringinin, qurecetin, rutin and flavon. Treatment with AIS restored the biochemical parameters towards normal level, prevented the occurrence of LPO and significantly (P ≤ 0.05) increased the levels of enzymatic (SOD and catalase) and non-enzymatic (reduced glutathione) antioxidants in CCl4 administered Wistar rats. Histopathology results confirmed the hepatoprotective effect of AIS. Conclusion Based on the results obtained, we suggest that the I. staphylina leaves extract have potent antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity.

Objective: Despite extensive research on periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis, the underlying molecular connectivity between these condition remains largely unknown. This research aimed to integrate periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis gene expression profiles to identify interconnecting genes and focus to develop a common lead molecule against these inflammatory conditions. Materials and Methods: Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis were identified from the datasets retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. The network was constructed by merging DEGs, and the interconnecting genes were identified and ranked using GeneMANIA. For the selected top ranked gene, the potential inhibitor was searched using FINDSITEcomb2.0. Subsequently, the molecular docking and molecular dynamics were performed to determine the binding efficiency and protein-ligand complex stability, respectively. Results: From the network analysis, IFN-induced protein 44-like (IFI44L) was identified as a top ranked gene involved in most of the immunological pathway. With further virtual screening of 6507 molecules, vemurafenib was identified to be the best fit against the IFI44L target. The binding energy and stability of IFI44L with vemurafenib were investigated using molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. Docking results show binding energy of −7.7 Kcal/mol, and the simulation results show stability till 100 ns. Conclusions: The identified IFI44L may represent a common drug target for periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis. Vemurafenib could be a potent anti-inflammatory drug for both diseases.

Skin grafts are indicated when there is a major loss of skin. Full‐thickness skin graft is an ideal choice to reconstruct defect of irregular surface that is difficult to immobilize. Full‐thickness mesh grafts can be applied to patch large skin defect when there is less donor site in extensively traumatized and burned surgical patients. The concept of using natural biomaterials such as keratin, basic fibroblast growth factor is slowly gaining popularity in the field of medical research to achieve early healing. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of gelatin conjoined with keratin processed from the poultry feather and commercially available basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) as a sandwich layer in promoting the viability of full‐thickness skin mesh grafts. The efficacy was assessed from the observation of clinical, bacteriological, and histopathological findings in three groups of experimental dogs. The clinical observations such as color, appearance and discharge, and hair growth were selected as criteria which indicated good and early acceptance of graft in keratin‐gelatin (group II). On bacteriological examination, Staphylococcus aureus and Proteus was identified in few animals. Histopathological study of the patched graft revealed early presences of hair follicles; sebaceous gland, and normal thickness of the epidermis in keratin‐gelatin in group II treated animals compared with other group (group I‐control, group III‐bFGF‐gelatin). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The paper presents an in situ parameter estimation method to determine the equivalent circuit parameters of the three-winding transformer (TWT). The suggested method also estimates geometrically a complex parameter that is mutual leakage between secondary and tertiary windings, which would be useful in transient studies. Beside the saturation effect of the transformer is taken into account by estimating a highly nonlinear parameter that is magnetizing circuit reactance. Different search based optimization tools are applied for parameter estimation among which the results obtained using genetic algorithm is found to be encouraging. Load test data at one particular operating point namely supply voltage, load currents, input power, and load impedance is sufficient to estimate the parameters. The results are experimentally validated against the directly measured performance of TWT. The method is applicable for performance determination, power system load flow studies and design of protection circuits of the TWT. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Clinical evaluation of six crossbred cows with incised wounds on the teat involving various layers was performed. Under sedation with Inj. Xylazine and ring block analgesia, A sterile tube made up of modified polyvinyl chloride was introduced into the lumen and fixed in situ for drainage of milk, Intramammary infusion and preventing stenosis. Inj.Gentamicin was administered systemically and Intramammary. Collagen based silver sulphadiazine (AgSD) cream was applied at the sutured site once in three days and an uneventful healing was noticed in all animals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses a study which compared the effectiveness of radiocarpal arthrodesis using either autogenous bone grafts or allogenic demineralised bone matrix for the treatment of radial paralysis in dogs. The study involved 18 experimental dogs which were randomly divided into three groups. The alkaline phosphatase levels and tissue calcium levels observed in each group are detailed. The study found that autogenous cancellous bone graft was the best material for bone union.
