Background. The dynamic obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) is a well-known complication in mitral annuloplasty but rarely seen in nonmitral cardiovascular surgery. The dynamic LVOT obstruction can lead to hemodynamic instability, even shock and the treatment is significantly different from the standard approach. Case Presentation. We reported a case of low cardiac output syndrome (LCOS) with severe mitral regurgitation (MR), dramatically reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after coronary artery bypass grafting in a 72-year-old female requiring an escalation of inotropic support, volume restriction, and mechanical support. The detailed echocardiography combined with lung ultrasound revealed a dynamic systolic anterior movement of the anterior mitral leaflet (SAM), apical ballooning, and no significant lung congestion. Intravenous fluids were given, diuretics withdrawn, inotrope discontinued, and vasopressors uptitrated. The dynamic SAM was rapidly relieved, the hemodynamics was stabilized, and the LVEF was improving. The patient was discharged in good condition without residual LVOT obstruction and trace MR. Conclusion. We strongly suggest that a detailed echocardiography should be performed in any patient who presents in shock to rule out a dynamic LVOT obstruction. Lung ultrasound should be a routine examination in addition to echocardiography. Once SAM is detected, treatment should be based on volume expansion, inotrope discontinuation, and a careful afterload increasing.

Solanum procumbens L. (Solanaceae) were extracted respectively with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol to obtain the corresponding extracts. The methanol-soluble extract was acidified by adding HCl 0.5M; this was followed by liquid-liquid partition with CHCl3 to afford CHCl3-soluble fraction. From this fraction, four compounds were isolated and identified as ergosterol peroxide (1), 9,11-dehydroergosterol peroxide (2), N-(N-benzoyl-L-phenylalanyl)-L-phenylalanol (3), and moupinamide (4). Their structures were elucidated based on the NMR spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the literature. All isolated compounds were first reported from S. procumbens.

Soils experience the unrecoverable, continuous deformation known as creep when they are subjected to a stage of constant deviator stress. Creep deformation is due to extrusion of adsorbed water in clay particles, causing the non-recoverable deformation and eventually reduction in the soil shear strength. This study aims to develop a method to determine the creep strength reduction behaviour of soils and prediction of time to occurrence of the creep failure. Case studies on clayey soils including halloysite-rich soil and smectite-rich soil were chosen. A series of triaxial creep tests were conducted in order to obtain the necessary experimental data. Based on the results, the ultimate long-term creep strength or critical stress level of halloysite-rich soil and smectite-rich soil was 85 and 55% of the soil peak strength, respectively. The ultimate time of creep strength reduction in halloysite-rich soil and smectite-rich soil was 10.34 and 46.08 years, respectively. The maximum creep strength reduction ratio of halloysite-rich soil and smectite-rich soil was 0.2 and 0.45, respectively. The developed method allowed predicting time to creep failure of soil specimens.

Salinity is one of the major abiotic stresses, and it limits rice production in many worldwide areas. A lot of attention has been paid to developing rice salinity tolerance to cope with climate change. This study is based on the genome sequence databases of 36 Vietnamese landraces. The candidate gene, SRWD2, has been predicted and identified. The salt responsive WD40 protein 2 is involved in salt tolerance yield of nine rice landraces. Specifically, nine homologous segments of the sequences were found to be components of the CSD nucleotides, which is shown to be similar to the reference genome LOCOs02g48964.1 and LOCOs02g48964.1 CDS, respectively. At the same time, the functional marker, SRWD2add14, was designed to identify the candidate gene, SRWD2, based on its size as 150 bp (candidate gene tolerant to salinity) and 136 bp (different sequences to compare SRWD2-reference genome sequence). The findings show that Mot bui do landrace carries the candidate gene, SRWD2 (homozygote). The rice genotype should be used as a potential material for rice breeding to develop salt tolerance in rice varieties.

Brand is considered a valuable asset that a business wants to create and maintain growth throughout its business cycle. This paper examines the impact of corporate brand equity on employees’ opportunistic behavior. The paper uses quantitative research methods, through linear SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) analysis of structural model with a scale of 609 samples of employees of enterprises in Vietnam. The research results show that corporate brand equity has a negative impact on employees’ opportunistic behavior. In the relationship between these two factors, trust and emotional engagement act as intermediate factors. Additionally, the research demonstrates that trust has a positive effect on all three components of employee engagement, including emotional engagement, computational engagement, and standards-based engagement. On that basis, the research suggests a number of recommendations to minimize the opportunistic behavior of employees in the enterprise. The findings of this study have shown the importance and impact of brand equity on employee opportunistic behavior. These are meaningful contributions in both theory and practice to help businesses gain deeper insight into brand equity and the need to pay attention to building and developing durable brand equity for businesses. At the same time, it is an important basis for the next research projects.

A new diterpene, cassipouryl hexadecanoate (2), in addition to the cassipourol (1) and four terpenes (3–6) were isolated from the twigs and leaves of Dacrycarpus imbricatus (Blume) de Laub. The structures of the two monocyclic diterpenes (1, 2), were elucidated on the basic of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data and compared with the literature. These two monocyclic diterpenes (1, 2) were tested for their anti-proliferative activity on acute myeloid leukemia (OCI-AML) cells. The results showed that 1 had significantly anti-proliferative activity whereas 2 was weakly active.
