Although often overlooked by mainstream accounts of political theology and ecocriticism in the Global North, powerful visions of an ecopolis have been emerging in Latin America. In this article, we review the status of mainstream approaches to notions such as subject, citizen, and personal dignity and put them in a critical dialogue with Latin American Ecofeminist Political Theologies (LAEPT). We argue that those notions, often conceived from a Western and anthropocentric perspective, show their limits when interrogated from the perspective of LAEPT. Accordingly, we suggest that their main contribution lies not only in their critique of the Western paradigm but also in advancing alternative conceptions of an ecologically conscious political community that considers the Earth as sacred, and nature as a reflection of the divine. We conclude that such conceptions can also be seen at work in the rights of nature enshrined in the so-called new Latin American Constitutionalism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

La constitution Super speculam, promulguée en 1219 par le pape Honorius III, constitue un texte très important pour l’histoire de l’enseignement universitaire. Prise en application du IVe concile de Latran (1215), elle concerne avant tout l’enseignement de la théologie dont l’université de Paris est le centre mais aussi le droit. Désirant promouvoir l’enseignement de la théologie, Honorius III renouvelle les anciennes interdictions faites aux clercs réguliers d’étudier les leges et les étend à de nombreuses catégories de clercs séculiers. A cet important contexte général, il faut ajouter un contexte plus spécifiquement parisien. Les critiques que les théologiens adressent depuis longtemps aux juristes, accusés d’attirer de plus en plus d’étudiants, s’intensifient. Les conflits qui se développent entre les maîtres et le chancelier à partir de 1210, en particulier celui qui les opposent au printemps de 1219 à Philippe le Chancelier, favorisent cet antagonisme entre juristes et théologiens. Influencé par ces derniers, Honorius III interdit, in fine de Super speculam, l’enseignement du droit romain à Paris et dans les localités environnantes.

Seit dem 7. Oktober ist im öffentlichen Diskurs eine beängstigende Konjunktur judenfeindlicher Ressentiments zu verzeichnen. Dieser Beitrag versucht aus religionspädagogischer Perspektive zu skizzieren, dass christlicher Theologie die Gefahr des Antisemitismus inhärent ist und insbesondere gängige Deutungen der Judas-Figur zu starken Absetzungsstrategien anhalten. Demgegenüber wird mithilfe einer Lektüre des Romans Der Fall Judas ein hermeneutischer Zugang vorgeschlagen, um festgefahrene (in Antisemitismus mündende) Schablonen aufzubrechen.

Ibn Kamāl Pāshā (d. 940/1534) played a key role in defending key doctrinal positions in his capacity as Ottoman Shaykh al-Islām, the most famous of which is undoubtedly his refutation of Mullā Qābiḍ (d. 933/1527). Qābiḍ (tr. Kabız), whose credentials are as unknown as Ibn Kamāl's are known, is said to have propagated the superiority of Jesus over Muhammad, an obscure notion rarely found in the intellectual history of Islam. His ideas were eventually brought to the attention of scholarly circles, leading to him being tried before the Imperial Council by Caliph Suleymān I (d. 973/1566). Noting the inability of some scholars to defend the orthodox position regarding the superiority of Muhammad, Suleymān I called upon Ibn Kamāl to provide a robust defence on behalf of the Empire. Although unable to respond to Ibn Kamāl's reasoning, Qābiḍ nevertheless maintained his position and thus sealed his fate for good. Only a handful of studies have been carried out on Qābiḍ. This article intends to contribute to the discussion he and his trial have sparked by translating a key epistle written by Ibn Kamāl after the trial and entitled: Risāla fī ʾAfḍaliyyat Muḥammad. Knowing that the details of the controversy between him and Mullā Qābiḍ escape us, this treatise by Ibn Kamāl gives an insight into his thinking on prophetology and his implementation of scriptural, canonical and exegetical sources. Taking as his starting point the itinerary that led him to choose mission history as his field of research in the early 1970s, the author recalls how the study of missions, for a long time a peripheral subject, strongly linked to ecclesiastical objectives, acquired scientific legitimacy. This evolution owes much to the close links forged with anthropology, from which historians have often borrowed their approaches (investigative tools), concepts (syncretism) and explanatory models. This connivance does not mean, however, abandoning the specificity of the historical narrative, which is committed to highlighting the evolution of the missionary fact over time and the singularity of the cases observed. But researchers are still confronted with the limits of their theoretical tools and the difficulty of constructing a history that takes into account the relationship with theology without being subordinated to it (missiology). Finally, it examines the extensive use of the term "mission", the meaning of which is today blurred by its secularization and application to any militant intellectual or religious movement. This article provides a comprehensive examination of the current state of research in Polish practical theology, focusing on the significant pastoral challenges confronted by the Catholic Church in Poland today. Comprising two parts, the study begins with a descriptive analysis of the institutional framework of Polish theology. It highlights the contemporary landscape of Polish ecclesiastical universities and theological faculties, addressing concerns regarding didactics and the declining enrollment of theology students. Additionally, the article explores the recent evaluation principles employed by the Ministry of Education and Science for assessing Polish theological faculties. The second part of the article presents a research-based investigation into the primary pastoral problems in Poland, drawing on selected literature sources. These issues encompass: (1) the decreasing number of dominicantes and communicantes, (2) the Church's engagement in the digital realm, (3) challenges associated with youth ministry, (4) the decline in student participation in religious education classes, (5) the absence of adult catechesis, and (6) the complexities surrounding the use of religious language. In response to the titular inquiry regarding Poland's status as a bastion of Christendom, the study offers a cautiously affirmative response, considering certain reservations. Research findings demonstrate that the profile of Polish Catholics has undergone an inevitable evolution towards secularization in recent years, with Polish pastoral care not always keeping pace with this shifting mentality. Zusammenfassung: Dieser Aufsatz macht mit dem gegenwärtigen Forschungsstand der Praktischen Theologie in Polen und den dortigen Herausforderungen der römisch-katholischen Kirche bekannt. Ein erster Hauptteil beschreibt das institutionelle Gefüge, in dem in Polen Theologie betrieben wird, welches u. a. sinkenden Einschreibezahlen entgegensieht. Post- und dekoloniale Studien haben weltweit längst auch entsprechende Reflexionenin der Theologie in Gang gesetzt. In diesem Beitrag wird kurz dieGeschichte und die Bedeutung postkolonialer Studien und Theologien dargestelltsowie ein Überblick über zentrale Begriffe dieser Theorien vermittelt. Ein besondererSchwerpunkt liegt auf der Darstellung des Spektrums und der Reichweitepostkolonialer Theologien, bevor abschließend ein Ausblick auf die möglichenund sinnvollen Konsequenzen dieser Entwicklungen für die Religionspädagogikgegeben wird.

Warum sie für Universität, Gesellschaft und den mündigen Menschen wichtig ist, kann die Theologie gut begründen und greift dabei auf soziologische, philosophische, kulturanthropologische, historische, psychologische und bildungstheoretische Hintergründe zurück. Gleichwohl hat sich die Wirkung solcher Begründungsskizzen als sehr kurzreichweitig erwiesen. Das Erklären nach außen hin, warum Theologie wichtig ist, führt nicht dazu, dass Rektorate oder gesellschaftliche Akteure besorgt sind bezüglich eines Rückbaus der Theologie an Universitäten. Auch der Rückgang der Zahl der Studieninteressierten bleibt davon unberührt. Offenkundig ist das Problem nicht in der theoretischen Selbstmodellierung des Faches zu suchen, vielmehr wird die Theologie als Wissenschaft nicht so erlebt, wie es ihre Wissenschaftstheorie und ihre gesellschaftliche Selbstbegründung erwarten ließen.Daher ist es notwendig, einen Blick auf die Wahrnehmung von Theologie in der Gesellschaft zu werfen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass unterbestimmt ist, wer „Religion“ im öffentlichen Diskurs repräsentiert: Welche Rolle kommt dabei Kirche, Theologie und erkennbar religiösen Personen zu? Umgekehrt ist zu fragen, wie die Theologie dieses „Außen“ des öffentlichen Diskurses wahrnimmt und wie sie ihre eigene(n) Rolle(n) darin professionell ausgestaltet. Mit dieser Verhältnisbestimmung von Außen- und Innensicht lassen sich Bedarfe ausmachen, von denen die Zukunft der Theologie an staatlichen Universitäten abhängt, und Wirkfaktoren identifizieren, um diese Bedarfe zu beeinflussen.

In contemporary Egypt, the secularization of discourses and practices raises a fundamental challenge to sīra writing concerning its vocation to make the founding narrative and the religious ideals of Islam comprehensible and meaningful to contemporary Muslims. Arguing that the Muslim community's image of the Prophet does indeed both affect and reflect its religious and spiritual condition, the known Egyptian intellectual and former rector of al-Azhar, ʿAbd al-Ḥalīm Maḥmūd (1910-1978) holds the appearance of de-theologized forms of sīra writing as a symptom of a profound crisis of Islamic intellectuality. Against this background, his prophetological considerations seek to show that this challenge can only be overcome by a sīra writing that engages the audience in a personal and spiritual relationship with the Prophet. Cet article étudie les origines religieuses de la Révolution, au sens de ce qui a rendu possible l'idée même de révolution. Il suggère que la Révolution a eu des origines religieuses dans un sens bien plus direct que ce que suggèrent les études sur les controverses autour du jansénisme. C'est parce que l'ordre divin était considéré comme supérieur à tout ordre créé par les humains que la rupture avec les coutumes et traditions du royaume a pu être conçue comme légitime. En ce sens, la Révolution française est comparable aux révolutions qui l'ont précédée. Cet article invite à reconsidérer la pensée politique des Lumières françaises, irriguées par la pensée théocratique. La thèse principale est que ce qui change dans la France des Lumières par rapport à celle du XVIIe siècle, c'est une insistance nouvelle sur les lois immuables et éternelles établies par Dieu. In this article, I outline (my) theological thinking that has to constantly re-orientate itself in the space given by God. Placing the dimension of space and spatiality in the focus of my consideration in terms of theology of creation makes it possible to take a more differentiated look at the challenge to theology and religious education today in encounter with cultural alterities and the task of religious education. In Global Christianity, religious education is not limited to the European context, but must critically reflect the change in consciousness in the second half of the 20th century in connection with cultural spaces. In doing so, my primary concern is not only to remove cultural hermeneutics from religious understanding and to open up intercultural places of learning, but also to justify this opening theologically. In the article "The Felled Tree - Metaphor and Theology: The Dream of the Tree (Dan 4) in the Light of the Prophecy 'Shoot from the Stump of Jesse' (Isaiah 10:33-11:9)", Naama Golan examines the connection between the dream of the tree in Daniel and the prophecy of the "Shoot from the Stump of Jesse" in Isaiah. She describes three stages of development of the metaphor of the felled tree and the theological messages conveyed by the authors. The article shows that Nebuchadnezzar's dream about the tree in Daniel serves as an "internal biblical interpretation" for the prophecy about the "Shoot from the Stump of Jesse". Das eindrucksvolle bei Erik Peterson liegt in der Einheit seines theologischen Wirkens und seines Lebens, dass er Ganz der Beobachtung der Kirche widmet. Nicht von ungefähr, rührt aus dieser geistlichen Inspiration, der Entschluss des protestantischen Theologen zum katholischen Glauben zu konvertieren. Die geistliche Erfahrung kirchlichen Lebens verbindet er mit der Forderung nach einer sichtbaren, apostolischen, mit kirchenrechtlicher und dogmatischer Autorität ausgerichteten Kirche. Sein wissenschaftlich geprägtes Interesse bestimmt vor allem die Verbindung von historischer Forschung und Dogmatik als Kirchentraktat innerhalb der systematischen Theologie und Dogmatik. Im ersten Kapitel wird der historische Begriff der Kirche von seinen neutestamentlichen Urquellen her analysiert. Die philologisch-historische Analyse des Kirchenbegriffs erschließt überhaupt erst den theologischen Sinngehalt aus dem ersten Korintherbrief, als Wesensmerkmal der Kirche. Das zweite Kapitel erörtert im Licht der Offenbarung das Kirchendogma als eine Grundlage für die Erkenntnis und die Argumentation der Theologie, indem sie von der Offenbarung aus, Glauben und Gehorsam als phänomenologische Größen betrachtet. Die Authentizität der Kirche thematisiert das dritte Kapitel durch das Dogma als Wesensmitte der Theologie, als autoritative Instanz und normierende hermeneutische Struktur der theologischen Aussagen zur Grundlegung der Kirchlichkeit in der Wissenschaft. In der Relecture von Dogma, Offenbarung und Kirche als dogmatische Ekklesiologie, erschließt sich Petersons Theologieverständnis als fragmentarisch, deren Aktualität darin begründet liegt immer von Neuem die Einheit der Theologie und ihrer Traktate zu bestimmen.

Au centre de cet article il y a l’œuvre de Sergej Boulgakov (1871-1944). Jusqu’à présent, ses travaux n’ont été étudiés que du point de vue de la philosophie et de la théologie ; ils n’ont pas encore été suffisamment étudiés dans le contexte linguistique et sémiotique. Les résultats de ses longues réflexions sur la nature du langage humain se sont exprimés dans son livre "Filosofija imeni" (La philosophie du nom) (1953). Son ouvrage est à la fois philosophique, théologique et linguistique. Derrière la philosophie de Boulgakov se cache toute une longue histoire de disputes d’auteurs anciens sur la nature du langage humain et se trouve le problème du lien que le langage entretient avec son référent et du lien invisible que l’homme entretient non seulement avec la réalité, mais aussi avec Dieu.

Cet article pointe vers les conséquences induites par l’usage d’artifices rhétoriques et l’abus du pouvoir du langage dans l’Église. Ce sont ceux-là même, les responsables d’institutions religieuses, qui censés défendre un service honnête de la Parole, qui souvent laissent se creuser un fossé entre paroles et actions. Une intention louable de servir de manière altruiste autrui est dans ce cas détourné vers des fins égoïstes : comme gagner davantage de notoriété et de moyens financiers ; assouvir un amour immodéré du pouvoir. C’est moins à démasquer des « usurpasteurs » que nous invite l’auteur, mais bien à la relecture patiente des textes. Il n'y a rien de plus beau qu'une bible dont « les pages ont été cornées, marquées et dont la reliure fatiguée raconte l'assidue fréquentation de son propriétaire ». Chaque fois qu'une « bible se détruit par son utilisation, une femme, un homme se construit ! »

Speaking of wounded peace in sub-Saharan Africa and engaging theology and the Church in the search for care are steps that find motivation in the specific situation of this area of Africa. It is a vulnerable space, marked by social tensions and ecological degradation fueled from both the outside and the inside. How do the Church's theological thought and social action contribute to the restoration of peace in sub-Saharan Africa? To answer this question, the article tries to capitalize on what is happening within the Catholic Church in Africa and its interventions in social matters. The reflection focuses on anthropological and theological aspects in favour of peace and ecology. Despite the many challenges it faces, the Church is active in giving hope to Africa. The article "The Multiform Protestant Identity in Latin America in the 20th Century" analyzes the formation of different expressions of Protestantism in Latin America during the 20th century. It highlights the influence of theological movements promoted by the World Missionary Conferences in Edinburgh and Panama, the Pentecostal movement, and changes in American politics. The article also mentions the importance of the First Evangelical Convention of Colombia in 1926, where guidelines were established for the work of the Protestant Church in the country. Additionally, it discusses the influence of the evangelical movement in Latin America and its relationship with the anti-communist evangelical current in the United States. The importance of the magazine Pensamiento Cristiano in spreading evangelical ideas is emphasized, as well as interdenominational cooperation meetings and the mass evangelization program called "Evangelism in Depth." Global initiatives such as the World Congress on Evangelism and the Latin American Congress on Evangelism are also mentioned, as well as the creation of the Latin American Theological Fraternity and the Medellin 88 Consultation. The article discusses different religious movements in Latin America, such as Protestantism, Pentecostalism, charismatic renewal, and neo-Pentecostalism. It predicts that Pentecostal churches will be the main expression of popular religion in Latin America. Debates on the Filioque - "The Apple of Discord" between Eastern and Western Traditions. The Filioque issue is still a major problem between East and West traditions on the path of ecumenism. Theologically speaking, the Filioque is the "iceberg" that rises in the rough seas of the Church of God - Εκκλησία του Θεού to slow down the initiatives for Christian unity. The Nicene-Constantinople Credo says: Καὶ εἰς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον, τὸ κύριον, τὸ ζῳοποιόν, τὸ ἐκ τοῦ Πατρὸς ἐκπορευόμενον, formula defended in the East, in its most rigorous sense, by Gregory of Palamas, while from the eleventh century are emerging in the Western Creed the expression: et in Spiritum Sanctum, Dominum and vivificantem: qui ex Patre Filioque procedit, formula defended especially by Thomas Aquinas. Ibn Taymiyya (d. 728/1328) wrote his tome Bayān talbīs al-ǧahmiyya to refute Ašʿarī kalām theologian Faḫr al-Dīn al-Rāzī's (d. 606/1210) argument in Taʾsīs al-taqdīs that God is not corporeal, located, or spatially extended. Bayān talbīs al-ǧahmiyya is the largest known refutation of kalām incorporealism in the Islamic tradition, and al-Rāzī's Taʾsīs al-taqdīs was apparently the most sophisticated work of its kind circulating in Ibn Taymiyya's Mamlūk scholarly milieu. Ibn Taymiyya in Bayān talbīs al-ǧahmiyya deconstructs al-Rāzī's rational arguments and explicates an alternative theology of God's relation to space. Dans un contexte dominé par l’iconoclasme de l’anglicanisme anglais et par la “ textualisation ” de la culture religieuse, Christopher Marlowe transforme sa pièce Doctor Faustus (1589), mise en scène dans les théâtres de la banlieue londonienne, en une réflexion sur les capacités performatives et “ incarnationnelles ” du théâtre. Cet article étudie comment l’inflexion métaphorique du langage théologique que les autorités ecclésiastiques avaient utilisé pour dénoncer les effets pervers de la représentation théâtrale permet au dramaturge anglais de formuler une conception de l’art littéraire comme création d’un monde et non plus comme imitation de la nature. Ainsi, Marlowe requalifie en termes théâtraux le concept de performativité : alors que, dans le théâtre du monde, la performativité de la prédestination divine vouait les croyants à une situation de détresse existentielle, la performativité artistique redonnait aux spectateurs la possibilité de créer leur propre monde, le monde du théâtre. C’est pourquoi le remaniement esthétique du lexique et de l’imaginaire théologique s’avère la réponse la plus profonde de Marlowe à la crise de “ l’absolutisme théologique ” : il fait du théâtre un espace de jeu où le traumatisme provoqué par cette crise pouvait être travaillé et éventuellement dépassée par sa resignification dramatique. C’est dire que, dans la version marlowienne du mythe faustien, l’autoaffirmation humaine se réalise surtout à travers le pouvoir cathartique de l’illusion théâtrale.
