Amaç: Bu araştırmada öğretmenlik mesleğinin tanımı, önemi ve öğretmenlerin değişen rollerinin öğretmen görüşlerine göre belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma nitel betimsel araştırma desenine göre gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu farklı okul kademlerinde değişik branşa ve deneyime sahip 14 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu anket formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır.Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın geçerliğini ve güvenirliğini artırmak için bir dizi önlemler alınmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmada öğretmenler mesleklerine yönelik toplumsal, psikolojik, formasyon, duyuşsal, profesyonel ve eleştirel bir çok tanım getirmişlerdir. Bu tanımlar içerisinde en çok toplum temelli tanımlar yer almış; kültür aktarma, toplumsal etkileşim, toplumu şekillendirme kavramlarına vurgu yapılmıştır. Öğretmenler mesleklerinin öğrenci, toplum, eğitim sistemi ve devlet için önemli olduğunu düşünmüştür. Öğretmenler mesleğin öğrenciler için önemini; vizyon sağlama, mesleğe hazırlama, değişim başlatma, gelecek inşa etme, ilham kaynağı oluşturma, hayatı tanıma olarak açıklamışlardır. Öğretmenler mesleğin toplum için önemini bireyi toplumsal yaşama hazırlama ve toplumsal bilinç oluşturma, devlet için önemini öğrencilerde vatandaşlık bilinci oluşturma olarak ifade etmiştir. Özgünlük: Bu araştırmadan elde edilecek verilerle 1973 yılında yer alan öğretmenlik mesleğinin tanımının, bilgi toplumunun, çok kültürlü yaşamın, dijital çağın özelliklerini, değişen aile yapısını, öğretmen ve öğrenci özelliklerini, göz önünde bulundurarak, öğretmenlerinde görüşlerini yansıtacak şekilde yeniden tanımlanmasına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir Purpose: In this study, it is aimed to determine the definition of the teaching profession, its importance and the changing roles of teachers according to teachers' views. Method: The research was carried out according to the qualitative descriptive research design. The study group of the research consisted of 14 teachers with different branches and experiences at different school levels. The data of the research were collected using an open-ended questionnaire developed by the researcher. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. A number of measures were taken to increase the validity and reliability of the study. Findings: In the research, teachers have introduced many social, psychological, formation, affective, professional and critical definitions for their profession. Among these definitions, most community-based definitions were included; The concepts of transferring culture, social interaction and shaping the society were emphasized. Teachers thought that their profession was important for students, society, education system and the state. Teachers; the importance of the profession for students; They explained it as providing a vision, preparing for the profession, initiating change, building a future, creating a source of inspiration, and getting to know life. Teachers expressed the importance of the profession for society as preparing the individual for social life and creating social awareness, and its importance for the state as creating citizenship awareness in students. Originality: With the data to be obtained from this research, it is expected that the definition of the teaching profession in 1973 will contribute to the redefinition of the information society, multicultural life, digital age, changing family structure, teacher and student characteristics, and reflecting the views of teachers

Harmer (2004) states that the ways we react to students' writing will depend not only on the kind of task which the students are given, but also on what we want to achieve at any one point. There are a number of ways reacting but these generally fall within one of two broad categories: responding and correcting.In this paper, we will examine the effective way of responding to and correcting students' writing.
