The Marilyn Horne Foundation and Juilliard School jointly offered a music master class program to promote the solo vocal recital. Marilyn Horne participated in some of the classes, with mezzo-soprano Christa Ludwig also presenting songs and participating in panel discussions. Both women were relaxed in addressing the crowds and instructed the students in vocal techniques. Horne and Ludwig were inspirational and injected new life into tired phrases.

Various dancing workshops are being offered for dancers who want to practice their techniques or master new dance forms. Some of these workshops are provided by the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH), and in the Juilliard School, among others. DTH, the African American ballet company created by Arthur Mitchell, offers an intensive dancing workshop in modern jazz, ballet and tap technique aside from dance history and music theory.
