Livestock is a strategic part of the small-farm economy in Southeast Asia’s society, providing food income, clothing, fertilizer, and draught power. However, incidences or outbreaks of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) are due to converging factors such as the natural hazards’ aftermath, climate change, deforestation, urban growth, changing production conditions, and market chains. Therefore, this affects productivity and impacts farmers’ livelihoods with small holdings. The literature review was carried out to understand the current situation of TADs in Southeast Asia, identifying knowledge gaps to provide actions for disease control and prevention in the region. We have attempted to summarise the scientific literature in English on the prevalence data of TADs in Southeast Asia between 2011 and March 2022. Relatively few studies evaluated the distribution of TAD, where most of the studies focused on diseases that are important for international trade, such as avian influenza (AI), African swine fever (ASF), classical swine fever (CSF), foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and Newcastle disease (ND). Traditional production systems have received little attention in such studies as they belonged to mainly smallholders. The outbreaks of ASF and lumpy skin disease (LSD) in 2019 resulted in increased research activity between 2019-2022, while the other TADs were ignored in this period. For new emerging TADs diseases such as ASF and LSD, there is only information about the first detection without prevalence information. Therefore, further epidemiological investigations are necessary to reduce the gaps in disease surveillance reporting systems and support the prevention and reduction of further outbreaks.

AbstractAs COVID-19 has shown, pandemics and outbreaks of emerging infections such as Zika, Nipah, monkeypox and antimicrobial-resistant pathogens, especially emerging zoonotic diseases, continue to occur and may even be increasing in Southeast Asia. In addition, these infections often result from environmental changes and human behaviour. Overall, public health surveillance to identify gaps in the literature and early warning signs are essential in this region. A systematic review investigated the prevalence of emerging zoonotic diseases over 11 years from 2011 to 2022 in Southeast Asia to understand the status of emerging zoonotic diseases, as well as to provide necessary actions for disease control and prevention in the region. During the 2011–2022 period, studies on pigs, poultry, ruminants, companion animals and wildlife in Southeast Asia were reviewed thoroughly to assess the quality of reporting items for inclusion in the systematic review. The review was performed on 26 studies of pigs, 6 studies of poultry, 21 studies of ruminants, 28 studies of companion animals and 25 studies of wildlife in Southeast Asia, which provide a snapshot of the prevalence of the emerging zoonotic disease across the country. The findings from the review showed that emerging zoonotic diseases were prevalent across the region and identified a few zoonotic diseases associated with poultry, mainly stemming from Cambodia and Vietnam, as high priority in Southeast Asia.Clinical relevance: Appropriate prevention and control measures should be taken to mitigate the emerging zoonotic diseases in Southeast Asia.

AbstractThis research aims to investigate the impact of characteristics of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM), including Information Quality, Information Credibility, Information Quantity; and consumer behavior, including Needs of Information, and Attitudes towards Information, on the online purchase intention of Generation Z consumers in the context of social media. The research used a quantitative approach with a Likert scale questionnaire to collect the data from 280 Vietnamese Generation Z individuals. Statistical techniques, including Cronbach’s Alpha Test, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirm Factor Analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling, were used for data analysis. The findings indicated that Information Quality, Information Quantity, and Needs of Information significantly influenced Information Usefulness. Moreover, Information Quality, Needs of Information, and Attitudes towards Information had a significant impact on Information Adoption. Notably, Information Quality exhibited the strongest positive influence on both Information Usefulness and Information Adoption. The study found that Information Usefulness had a significant impact on Information Adoption and on Information Adoption had a significant impact on purchase intention. This result illustrated that information adoption and information usefulness act as partial mediators in the relationships between the independent variables and purchase intentions. This research distinguishes itself from previous studies by simultaneously identifying independent factors that affect Information Usefulness and Information Adoption. This provides marketers with better understanding the important of eWOM information on consumer purchase intention on social media. To address limitations and enhance the overall understanding of the research area, future studies should increase the sample size, diversify geographical representation, and conduct comparative analyses across different generational cohorts.

Background and Aim: African swine fever (ASF) is a notifiable viral disease of pigs and wild boars that causes severe economic losses to the swine industry. The pig industry in Vietnam was recently attacked by the ASF virus (ASFV) for the first time in history. However, we lack information regarding the transmissibility of ASF within indoor production systems communities, such as those in Vietnam. Therefore, we aimed to estimate the basic reproduction number (R0) for ASF during the early stages of transmission between farms in indoor production system communities from local and national data in Vietnam. Materials and Methods: The linear regression model approach for the susceptible infectious method was used in this study to estimate the transmission rate and, consequently, the R0 value. Results: The R0 values between-farm of ASF ranged from 1.41 to 10.8 in different scenarios of infectious period duration, from 15 to 30 days at the national and local levels. Conclusion: These results help to understand the scale and speed of ASF infection in Vietnam and to provide a scientific basis to implement control measures to restrict the spread of ASFV in other locations.

Background and Aim: Many studies have reported on the phenomenon of co-infections involving two or more pathogens (bacteria or viruses) over the past few years. However, very few studies on this issue were conducted in Vietnam. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the circulation of single and multiple porcine parvovirus (PPV) (e.g., PPV1, PPV2, PPV3, and PPV4), porcine bocavirus (PBoV), and torque teno virus (TTV) (TTV1 and TTV2) infections in Vietnamese pigs. Materials and Methods: A total of 174 porcine circovirus 2-positive samples from pigs (n = 86 for 2017 and n = 88 for 2021), including from the sera and internal organs, across 11 provinces were examined by polymerase chain reaction. Results: This study demonstrated the wide distribution of DNA viruses among pig farms in Vietnam in 2021, with the detection rate for PPV ranging from 3.4% to 27.3% among PPV1-PPV4. Moreover, the detection rates of TTV genotypes were confirmed to be 14.8% (TTV1) and 63.6% (TTV2), respectively, and the positive rate of PBoV was 65.9%. The most frequent combinations were double and triple infections. Double infection was found in 16/86 (18.6%) in 2017 and 26/88 (29.5%) in 2021, while triple infection was found at 19/86 (22.1%) in 2017 and 26/88 (29.5%) in 2021. The incidence of simultaneous detection of more than three viruses was low. Conclusion: These results provide at least partial information about the occurrence of three viruses, including PPV (including PPV1 to 4), PBoV, and TTV (TTV1 and TTV2), in pigs. Determination of particular viruses in pigs will help to prevent the porcine respiratory disease complex caused by DNA viruses in Vietnamese pigs in the future.

Oreocharis phuongii, a new species of Gesneriaceae from central Vietnam, is described and illustrated here. The new species is most similar to O. longifolia by sharing peduncles up to 22 cm long, bracts 2, zygomorphic, yellow flowers with tubular corolla, stamens 4 with two pairs of coherent anthers and capsules up to 6 cm long. It mainly differs from the latter by the combination of some morphological characters of leaves (shape, base, apex and margin), size of calyx lobes, indumentum of corolla tube and inner surface of three lower corolla lobes. Detailed morphological description together with colour illustration, information on phenology, distribution, ecology, preliminarily conservation status of the new species and comparison with its similar species are also presented.

The first copper-doped titanium-based amine-dicarboxylate metal-organic framework was synthesized by the solvothermal approach in this article, with a Cu2+/Ti4+ ratio of 0.15 (15% Cu/Ti-MOFs). X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectra, N2 adsorption-desorption studies, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS) were all used to identify the crystalline and properties of the semiconductors. The rate constants of 15% Cu/Ti-MOFs to degrade Rhodamine B (RhB) were roughly two times higher than NH2-Ti-MOFs. Furthermore, 15% Cu/Ti-MOFs photocatalysts remained stable after three cycles. The trapping test revealed that the principal active species in the degradation performance were hydroxyl radicals and holes.

The medicinal properties of Pouteria campechiana fruit in Vietnam currently have not been studied much. This study was conducted to evaluate hydrolysis's effect on the carotenoid, tannin, and antioxidant activity through the correlation between IC50 and TPC values of Pouteria campechiana extract. This study examined hydrolysis conditions, such as enzyme type, enzyme concentration, temperature, and hydrolysis time. Experimental results showed that at pectinase enzyme concentration of 0.6 wt%, cellulase enzyme concentration of 0.6 wt%, at hydrolysis temperature of 600C, and 65 minutes for hydrolysis, the study found carotenoid of 115.14±4.14 (µg/g) and tannin of 45.88±2.37 (mgTAE/g)in the extract. IC50 value (7.82±0.21 mg/mL) and TPC content were highly correlated (R2=0.98). This study's results contributed to the provision of valuable scientific data on Pouteria campechiana fruit, especially for the food industry

Abstract The rapid growth in railway infrastructure and the construction of high-speed heavy-haul rail network, especially on ground that is basically unsuitable, poses challenges for geotechnical engineers because a large part of the money invested in the development of railway lines is often spent on track maintenance. In fact around the world, the mud pumping of subgrade fines is one of the common reasons why track performance deteriorates and track stability is hindered. This article presents a series of laboratory tests to examine following aspects of mud pumping: (1) the mechanisms of subgrade fluidisation under undrained condition, (2) the effects of mud pumping on the engineering characteristics of ballast, and (3) the use of vertical drains to stabilize subgrade under cyclic loads. The undrained cyclic triaxial testing on vulnerable soft subgrade was performed by varying the cyclic stress ratio (CSR) from 0.2 to 1.0 and the loading frequency f from 1.0 to 5.0 Hz. It is seen from the test results that for a specimen compacted at an initial dry density of 1790 kg/m3, the top portion of the specimen fluidises at CSR = 0.5, irrespective of the applied loading frequency. Under cyclic railway loading, the internal redistribution of water at the top of the subgrade layer softens the soil and also reduces its stiffness. In response to these problems, this paper explains how the inclusion of vertical drains in soft subgrade will help to prevent mud pumping by alleviating the build-up of excess pore pressures under moving train loads.

ms in Hanoi. Based on literature review and the results of some interviews, dependent variable of the motivation for accounting human resources by material stimulation includes seven attributes. The study has also performed some descriptive analysis, Cronbach's Alpha, Independent T-test and ANOVA for measuring the motivation for accounting human resources by material stimulation in the accounting service firms in Hanoi. The results show that the motivation for accounting human resources by material stimulation achieved an average of 3.74 and with Cronbach's Alpha coefficient greater than 0.6. The study does not find any difference on evaluation of the motivation for accounting human resources by material stimulation in terms of gender and job experience. Based on the findings, some recommendations are given for improving the motivation for accounting human resources by material stimulation in the accounting service firms in Hanoi.

This research proposes a new Big File Cloud (BFC) with its architecture and algorithms to solve difficult problems of cloud-based storage using the advantages of key-value stores. There are many problems when designing an efficient storage engine for cloud-based storage systems with strict requirements such as big-file processing, lightweight meta-data, low latency, parallel I/O, deduplication, distributed, high scalability. Keyvalue stores have many advantages and outperform traditional relational database in storing data for heavy load systems. This paper contributes a low-complicated, fixed-size meta-data design, which supports fast and highly-concurrent, distributed file I/O, several algorithms for resumable upload, download and simple data deduplication method for static data. This research applies the advantages of ZDB - an in-house key-value store which was optimized with auto-increment integer keys for solving big-file storage problems efficiently. The results can be used for building scalable distributed data cloud storage that support big-files with sizes up to several terabytes.

The surface roughness of mechanical parts plays an important role in evaluating the machining performance. However, achieving fine surface finishes on small-diameter shafts through traditional lathes poses challenges due to low cutting speed and workpiece stiffness. To address this issue, in the present work, we applied ultrasonic-assisted vibration aligned with the cutting speed direction to enhance the turning process of small shafts made of C40 Carbon steel or 201 stainless steel. The workpieces were machined by Ultrasonic Assisted Turning (UAT) at three different cutting speeds, ranging from 15 to 36 m/min, while maintaining a constant feed rate and depth of cut. To facilitate comparison with conventional turning (CT), the cutting parameters remained consistent, and both methods were performed for the same duration. UAT necessitates the use of a specialized turning inserts' fixture known as a horn to transmit ultrasonic vibrations from the generator to the tooltip. This study also presents the design methodology and the performance evaluation of the horn. Surface roughness was assessed using the arithmetical mean height, Ra. In UAT, the roughness Ra exhibited the most significant reduction for C40 Carbon steel, reaching a decrease of 308% at a cutting speed of 15 m/min, whereas for 201 stainless steel, Ra did not vary by more than 23% across different cutting speeds.
