Understanding Generation Z job seekers’ expectations and job pursuit intentions can help organizations successfully attract them. However, there is limited research on this, especially for the transition and emerging economies. With these issues in mind, this study focused on two main objectives: (1) to examine Generation Z job seekers’ expectations and their job pursuit intention (JPI) in a transition and emerging economy, with samples from Vietnam, and (2) to advance the understanding of instrumental and symbolic attributes in recruitment literature. We apply the interpretive research method to explore the hidden reasons behind generation Z job seekers’ expectations and intentions of their job pursuit. Multiple combining questionnaires and group discussions were conducted with Vietnamese final year students soon to enter the workforce. The results showed that the Vietnamese Generation Z pays more attention to the job/organization in terms of intangible attributes (e.g. office atmosphere or workplace ethics) than physical features. Our study also found that Generation Z considered instrumental organizational attributes and symbolic meaning of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Although some studies have examined the Generation Z expectation in the workplace, no studies investigated the JPI of Gen Z job seekers. In addition, most recent studies investigated the Generation Z expectation in the workplace without using any solid, theoretical foundation underpinning human resource management. Therefore, using an instrumental-symbolic framework in recruitment, our study adds to the literature by examining how Generation Z job seekers react to instrumental attributes and symbolic attributes.

This paper studies elastic stress wave propagation generated by an impact in a system consisting of a moving striker rod and an initially stationary semi-infinite rod. This research emphasizes the role of different general impedances in affecting the response during the wave propagation process. The Rayleigh–Love rod theory is used in this research to consider lateral inertia and Poisson's effects on longitudinal waves in rods, as these factors lead to greater stress results compared to the traditional wave equation. To solve the complex wave equations in a Rayleigh–Love rod with different general impedances, the numerical inversion of Laplace transformation is applied and verified using the results of previous research. This study demonstrates that variations in general impedances cause different wave reflection and transmission behaviors at the interface. As the wave interacts with this discontinuity of impedance, it may be amplified or attenuated, and changes in impedance can significantly affect wave propagation behaviors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents an in-depth study of the stress wave behavior propagating in a Rayleigh–Love rod with sudden cross-sectional area variations. The analytical solutions of stress waves are derived for the reflection and transmission propagation behavior at the interface of the cross-sectional area change in the rod, considering inertia and Poisson's effects on the rod material. Examples solved using the finite element method are provided to verify the correctness of the analytical results. Based on the forward analysis of Rayleigh–Love wave propagation in a rod impacted by a striker rod, an impact-echo-type nondestructive testing (NDT) method is proposed to conduct defect assessment in rod-type structural components with sudden cross-sectional area changes within a cover medium. Vietnam provides a typical case of an emerging economy, which has attempted to develop the country and join the world economic mainstream with a highly agricultural base, large and young labour force, and a dynamically growing private sector. After a long period of quantitative growth, it is now focusing on achieving quality of development, with a view to balance economic growth and quality of life improvement for its population. Education has been chosen to be the key plank in the successful implementation of this strategy. This article reviews the general socio-economic background of the country, the high need for skilled labour, the structure of its educational system, the pitfalls at the high education level, and its strategy to overhaul the whole system in order to ensure quality from the input phase of the development process.

This work demonstrated the possibility of enhancing the dye-ability of viscose fabric via surface modification with silk fibroin. Herein, silk fibroin from waste Bombyx mori cocoons was degummed and then dissolved in a lithium bromide/ethanol/water solution. The silk fibroin solution was purified using the Qui*Stand Benchtop system equipped with the microfiltration and ultrafiltration of hollow-fiber cartridges to gather the fibroin segments with molecular weight over 10 kDa. The obtained silk fibroin was coated onto a viscose woven fabric via the padding method. The fibroin treated and untreated viscose fabrics were stained with C.1 acid blue 203 (0.5% on the weight of fabric (wof) and dyed with C.1 reactive yellow 176 (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 %wof). The presence of silk fibroin on the viscose fabric was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis and color measurement. The dyed treated viscose fabrics revealed a higher color strength (K/S) than that, of the dyed untreated ones at the same initial dye concentration. The color fastness to washing of the fibroin treated and untreated viscose fabrics after dyeing with the reactive dye were good to very good. The physical analysis results indicated a decrease in the air permeability and the horizontal wicking values of the silk fibroin treated fabrics compared to the untreated fabrics. This article aims to unbundle the influence of prevailing forestland rights institutions on the forest management behaviours of Vietnamese households. Based on a sample of 398 observations, we investigate the impact of two dimensions of forestland rights institutions (i.e. the formality and the duration) of two types of forest (i.e. production and protection forests) on two types of forest management behaviours (i.e. clearing and improving forest). We find that different dimensions of forestland rights institutions have different impacts on the forest management behaviour of households. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The topics of employer branding and organization's image and reputation have been well-researched in the literature. However, most empirical studies were conducted in Europe, Australia, or the United States, but very few were conducted in Asia, especially in Vietnam. In addition, the interaction of image and reputation with the availability of information on social media is poorly understood. Using signaling theory for building a research model, we collected data from 206 Generation Z respondents from the logistics sector in Vietnam. Our findings show that (i) employer branding has positively and significantly related to an organization's image and reputation; (ii) the organization's image and reputation had a significant effect on job seekers' intention to apply; and (iii) the interaction of image and reputation with availability of information on social media to predict the job seeker's intention to apply.
