Background/Objectives: Reports on type V FDP tendon avulsions and their treatment are rare. Furthermore, they are not always classified in a consistent manner in the literature. The purpose of our retrospective data analysis was to evaluate and present jersey finger type V injury characteristics, primary radiological findings, treatment options and subsequent patient outcomes, as well as potential complications. Methods: We reviewed all patients treated for a fracture of the distal phalanx at an academic Level 1 trauma center over a period of 19 years. By reviewing the patients' charts and their initial X-rays, we identified 44 patients with injuries matching the criteria for classification as jersey finger type Va and type Vb. All clinical records and radiologic images were reviewed to gather data on the mechanism of trauma, injury characteristics, type of treatment and subsequent outcomes in both subtypes. Results: Direct blows represented the most common mechanism of trauma, accounting for 23 cases. Among 44 jersey finger type V injuries, 31 showed minor displacement and were treated conservatively with a good outcome. Six patients undergoing surgery showed a poor outcome, except for one. Conclusions: Jersey finger type V differs considerably from the remaining types of jersey finger injuries regarding the predominant trauma mechanism. Therefore, its inclusion in this classification should be reevaluated. Established surgical techniques for refixation did not show a satisfying outcome, thus the implementation of alternative surgical techniques seems advisable when better therapeutic results are sought. Background: Fractures of the distal radius are among the most common bone injuries, and their frequency is constantly increasing, leading to an elevated need for subsequent rehabilitation. This growing need has led to the emergence of online content aimed at providing guidance on rehabilitation. Nonetheless, unreviewed online content raises concerns about its reliability; therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the quality, reliability, and comprehensiveness of online videos concerning rehabilitation following a distal radius fracture. Methods: A total of 240 YouTube videos were screened, identifying 33 videos that met the inclusion criteria. These selected videos were evaluated by five independent experts from various professional groups, using the Global Quality Scale, the DISCERN reliability tool, and the JAMA Benchmark Score, as well as a structured set of questions to assess their comprehensiveness and coverage of pertinent aspects. Results: The observers' assessment of the Global Quality Scale exhibited a broad spectrum of viewpoints, indicating considerable variability in evaluations. In most cases, therapy aligned well with the diagnosed condition, and most raters deemed the indication and instruction in the videos acceptable. A proportion of 87% of the videos was deemed suitable for home training by at least three raters. However, a concerning trend emerged, as potential risks and pitfalls were scarcely addressed. Conclusions: The moderate overall quality of the videos and the divergence in expert opinions highlight the need for a regulatory authority to ensure adherence to guidelines and maintain high-quality content. Aim: To investigate several complications like persistent radial head dislocation, forearm deformity, elbow stiffness and nerve palsies, associated with radial head fractures., Methods: This study reviewed the clinical records and trauma database of this level I Trauma Center and identified all patients with fractures of the radial head and neck who where admitted between 2000 and 2010. An analysis of clinical records revealed 1047 patients suffering from fractures of the radial head or neck classified according to Mason. For clinical examination, range of motion, local pain and overall outcome were assessed., Results: The incidence of one-sided fractures was 99.2% and for simultaneous bilateral fractures 0.8%. Non-operative treatment was performed in 90.4% (n = 947) of the cases, surgery in 9.6% (n = 100). Bony union was achieved in 99.8% (n = 1045) patients. Full satisfaction was achieved in 59% (n = 615) of the patients. A gender related significant difference (P = 0.035) in Mason type distribution-type III fractures were more prominent in male patients vs type IV fractures in female patients-was observed in our study population., Conclusion: Mason type I fractures can be treated safe conservatively with good results. In type II to IV surgical intervention is usually considered to be indicated.
