Background. The article presents the results of the research on carpenter bees (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Xylocopinae: Xylocopa) housed in the Lodos Entomological Museum (Ege University, Izmir, Turkey). There are 10 species of Xylocopa occurring on the territory of Turkey. Three of them are common and abundant (X. violacea, X. valga and X. iris) and the other species are moderately common or rare. The aim of this study is to present new locality records of the material on the Xylocopa fauna of Turkey pre-served in the Lodos Entomological Museum, Turkey. Material and Methods. The objects of our research were carpenter bees collected from different localities of Turkey between 1975 and 2018 and housed in the Lodos Entomological Museum. Insects were collected by researchers, students and amateurs. We used stereoscopic microscope Bresser Advance ICD 10x-160x and specialized keys for Xylocopa identification. Results. We analyzed 262 specimens of carpenter bees that belong to four species (Xylocopa iris, X. pubescens, X. valga and X. violacea). The information on the specimens’ location and brief notes on the plants on which they were foraging is provi-ded. Three of the analyzed species namely X. iris, X. valga and X. violacea are listed in the category “Least Concern” of the IUCN Red List. Conclusions. We found new locality records for three Xylocopa species: X. iris reported from Manisa province for the first time, X. valga – from Antalya, Aydın, Denizli and Manisa and X. violacea – from Balıkesir, Denizli, Manisa and Tekirdağ pro vinces of Turkey. Further studies aiming to improve the knowledge on Xylocopa fauna should focus on collecting in little-known areas and some specific habitats of Turkey. © 2022 S. Tezcan, & I. Skyrpan.

It was found that the distribution of population by age groups differed and especially the fertility measurements were high in the new area in relation to various social and demographic characteristics. In order to facilitate and accelerate the transition period of slum communities it is necessary to provide health education mother and child health and family planning services. - Abstract
Elmina Castle, built in 1482 by the Portuguese, was the first of a series of European trading bases along the west coast of Africa and served as a commercial outpost for over four centuries of trade. The structure was captured by the Dutch in 1637 and became a major hub for the Atlantic Slave Trade. The castle is currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Ghanaian national museum. The building is constructed from a combination of mud- and lime-mortared rough-hewed sandstone masonry. The primary focus of the analysis is the western curtain wall, which faces the only side of the castle accessible by land. A flaring at the base of the curtain wall points to the likely presence of an additional tower located approximately midway along the length of the wall in early Portuguese times. Using a pushover analysis with nonlinear 3D FE under Abaqus/CAE explicit formulation, we assess the stability of the tower-wall system to determine if a historical earthquake could have caused the tower to collapse. During the Dutch occupation, a two-story building, brick vaulted at the ground level, was added along the entire curtain wall. Using 2D plane strain nonlinear models, we evaluate the structural capacity of this vaulted system, considering its sensitivity to the density and the thickness of the loose material above the vault as well as the compressive strength of the rough-hewed sandstone masonry in the walls.

In context of insulation and environmental properties, decomposition products in SF6-N-2 mixtures in the presence of H2O are analyzed by Density Function Theory (DFT). Homo and Lumo structures of ten decomposition products are given with the optimized geometries employing B3LYP hybrid method at the 6-311+G(d,p) level. The presented information with respect to the electronic states, ionization energies and energy gaps of SOF4, SO2F2, SOF2, S2F10, S2O3F6, and (SF5)(2)NF decomposition products is not available in the literature. Ionization energies, electron affinity and molecular orbital energy gap which is an indicator of the stability of the by-products are reported for the decomposition products analyzed.

WOS: 000434263000007, PubMed: 29766772, BACKGROUND Embolic strokes of undetermined source represent 20% of ischemic strokes and are associated with a high rate of recurrence. Anticoagulant treatment with rivaroxaban, an oral factor Xa inhibitor, may result in a lower risk of recurrent stroke than aspirin. METHODS We compared the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban (at a daily dose of 15 mg) with aspirin (at a daily dose of 100 mg) for the prevention of recurrent stroke in patients with recent ischemic stroke that was presumed to be from cerebral embolism but without arterial stenosis, lacune, or an identified cardioembolic source. The primary efficacy outcome was the first recurrence of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke or systemic embolism in a time-to-event analysis; the primary safety outcome was the rate of major bleeding. RESULTS A total of 7213 participants were enrolled at 459 sites; 3609 patients were randomly assigned to receive rivaroxaban and 3604 to receive aspirin. Patients had been followed for a median of 11 months when the trial was terminated early because of a lack of benefit with regard to stroke risk and because of bleeding associated with rivaroxaban. The primary efficacy outcome occurred in 172 patients in the rivaroxaban group (annualized rate, 5.1%) and in 160 in the aspirin group (annualized rate, 4.8%) (hazard ratio, 1.07; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.87 to 1.33; P=0.52). Recurrent ischemic stroke occurred in 158 patients in the rivaroxaban group (annualized rate, 4.7%) and in 156 in the aspirin group (annualized rate, 4.7%). 25. Avalanche Inhibition in Ultra-dilute SF6-N-2 Mixtures Subjected to Crossed Fields

- Abstract
Ultra-dilute SF6 + N-2 mixtures are subjected to crossed fields with the applied magnetic field orthogonal to the electric field in order to investigate critical magnetic field values for suppression of electron avalanche growth resulting in increased dielectric strength. Electron avalanche growth inhibition together with the related electron mean energy variation are reported in the binary mixtures subjected to the combined fields. Even if very small amount of greenhouse gas (SF6) is used, high dielectric strength can be achieved in the binary mixtures with 0.25%, 0.50% and 0.75% SF6 contents subjected to the evaluated combined fields.

MOTAKK, as a national external quality control program has been launched to evaluate the molecular detection of viral infections including HBV DNA and HCV RNA in molecular microbiology diagnostic laboratories in Turkey. This program is prepared in compliance with ISO 17043:2010 (Conformity assessment general requirements for proficiency testing) standards, and aims to take the place of external quality control programs from abroad, contributing to standardization and accuracy of molecular diagnostic tests in our country. The aim of this study was to evaluate 2015 and 2016 results of the MOTAKK External Quality Control Program for HBV DNA and HCV RNA viral load. The calls were announced on the web page of MOTAKK (www.motakk.org). The quality control samples were sent to participating laboratories in 2015 and 2016. Main stocks were prepared from patients with chronic hepatitis B and C who had viral load detection with reference methods according to WHO reference materials for viral load studies to improve quality control sera. From these main stocks, samples with different viral loads were prepared from dilutions of plasma with HBV, HCV, HAV, HIV, Parvovirus B19 and CMV negative serologic markers. Quality control samples were sent to the participating laboratories along with the negative samples in the cold chain. The laboratories accomplished the related tests within 2-3 weeks and entered their results on the MOTAKK web page. These results were analysed according to ISO 13528 (Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparison) and scoring reports were created by a software developed by MOTAKK and sent to participating labs. Each laboratory evaluated their own results in comparison with the other laboratory results, reassessed the tests via observing the distance from the mean result and the reference values. The number of laboratories participating in the HBV DNA and HCV RNA external quality control program was 70-73 in 2015-2016. Participants were able to comply with the program tools, registering, entering results and receiving the results reports problem. In HBV panel, 72.6-89.1% and 84.7-90.3% of the participant laboratories were in 1 standard deviation (SD) in 2015-2016, respectively. In HCV panel, 70.8-89.1% and 84.7-90.3% of the participant laboratories were in 1 SD in 2015-2016, respectively. A national external quality control program for HBV DNA and HCV RNA in Turkey has been prepared for the first time with this project and implemented successfully. All the data provided in the MOTAKK external quality control program final report, compensate all the data provided by the quality control program final reports from abroad; additionally, the report allows comparison of used technologies and commercial products.

The proposed optimization of parameters is carried out with eigenvalue analysis based objective function for two cases (two parametric bounds) to guarantee the stability for the single-machine-infinite-bus system model for a wide range of operating conditions. The system performance with Firefly-Algorithm tuned controller is compared with Bat-Algorithm optimized Conventional-Power-System-Stabilizer controller. The power system robustness is tested on 133 operating conditions to set up the superior performance of FA-PID-PSS over the BA-CPSS. According to the eigenvalue analysis and time response parameters results, it is found that BA-CPSS and FA-PID-PSS (case-I) have the ability to stabilize the system for some operating conditions; but the FA-PID-PSS (case-II) can stabilize the system and can improve settling time and overshoot for all operating conditions. In the ternary mixture of 95.7% CO2+ 2.69% N2+ 1.59% Ar with various dust loads representing the Martian atmosphere, ionization, attachment, electron mean energies and electron drift velocities are numerically calculated by a two-term Boltzmann equation analysis at Ls = 270°. The attachment coefficient defined carries dissociative attachment collisions of the CO2 component in the ternary mixture together with electron attachment to uncharged dust grains in the dusty storm season. The limiting E=N values for the critical condition where ionization rates are balanced by attachment collisions in the low pressure plasma (E is the electric field produced by the dust storm and N is the total number density of gas molecules in the ternary mixture) are evaluated for various dust loads. The limiting E=N increases as a function of dust grain size and the effect is more pronounced for dust loads with higher grain densities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The electron swarm parameters, namely electron drift velocity, mean energy, effective ionization coefficient and limiting values of number-density-reduced electric fields, E/N, are calculated and assessed in SF6+CF4+Ar ternary mixtures for SF6 concentrations that vary from 1% to 20% over a range of E/N from 50Td to 600Td by solving Boltzmann's equation. The limiting electric field values for the ternary mixtures are deduced from the graphs of the calculated effective ionization coefficients as a function of E/N. Furthermore, breakdown voltage measurements are conducted for the ternary mixtures. The limiting electric field values obtained from the measured breakdown voltages are compared with those of the Boltzmann analysis and found to be in good agreement. The insulation strength of the ternary mixtures with constant Ar concentrations indicated an increase with increasing contents of SF6 while the share of CF4 in the mixture reduced in the investigated E/N range up to 600 Td with SF6 concentrations varying from 1% to 20%. Moreover, a significant synergy is observed due to the non-linear nature of the mixture, and the maximum synergy appears to be around 10% SF6 in the mixtures of this study with fixed Ar concentration. Furthermore, theoretical calculations of breakdown voltages from Boltzmann analysis are found to be in good correlation with the experimental values.

This study was done to determine the preferences of health sciences students on the mode of delivery. Materials and methods: The sampling of this descriptive study is 555 students (260 medical students, 204 nursing students, 91 midwifery students) who have taken the courses on giving birth and gynecological diseases at Cumhuriyet University. All the data were collected by a questionnaire form consisting 19 questions which were prepared and developed by the researchers. All the questions were asked by using structured interview technique. The colleced data were analyzed and evaluated by SPSS (ver: 13.0) as chi-square test, digits, percentage. Findings: The mode of delivery was mostly prefered as normal vaginal in %88.5 and most part of this preference is of the nursing students as %92.6. %60.3 of the students prefer normal delivery system because it is natural. %83.8 of the students studying in the faculties of medical sciences are against to make caesarean delivery voluntarily without any indication. %96.8 of them think that gender of the baby doesn't affect the delivery form. %99.5 of the participants think that the caesarean delivery system is highly expensive. Some medical students (%23.8) think that optional caesarean section can be done even without any medical indications. Whereas, most of the health students (%73.9) think that epidural anaesthesia should be done during the normal vaginal delivery. In this paper, binary methane-nitrogen gas mixtures are recommended in order to reduce the industrial use of methane, which stands out among the greenhouse gases. The electron mean energy, drift velocity, ionization and effective ionization coefficients are presented for the binary mixtures with the CH4 content, varying from 20% to 80% in the mixtures. The relevant parameters of pure methane and nitrogen are evaluated for comparison with the data available in literature in order to verify the validity of the computational methodology which is based on solution of the Boltzmann equation. The swarm parameters in the methane-nitrogen mixtures have been evaluated for E/N from 80 Td to 400 Td (1 Td = 1 × 10-17 V cm2). The presented data and the results have the potential to be widely used in plasma physics, electrical insulation systems, and space studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
