The abundance of plankton can describe aquatic life. The Jurung fish is a plankton feeder freshwater fish which has high economic value. This study aimed to identify plankton recognition as an indicator of the presence of Jurung fish (Tor sp.) in the Leuser area of the Lokop River in Aceh and analyze the physico-chemical factors associated with attracting plankton in the Lokop River. This research was conducted from February to March 2021. The research showed that the number of types of plankton found in the Lokop river was 17 types (13 phytoplankton and 4 zooplankton). Diversity index value of 1.538364 – 2.133691 and evennes index of 0.542975 - 0.753099 were classified as mesotropic waters with moderate fertility levels. In general, based on observations of plankton in the Lokop river, Jurung fish could be cultivated from upstream to downstream. However, it is better to be at station 1 (upstream) because there are still a lot of plankton species so that the food needs of the Jurung fish can be fulfilled.

Currently, spiny lobster fishery in Indonesia ranks third as an export commodity from the crustacean subphylum after shrimp and blue swimming crab – mud crab. Most of the spiny lobster export needs still rely on wild population resulting in fishing pressure. To ensure the sustainability of spiny lobster stocks, information of the Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) is needed. This study aims to analyze SPR of spiny lobsters of Panulirus femoristriga and P. versicolor species. The research was conducted in May − November 2022 in Donggala Regency waters. SPR analysis uses the Length-Based SPR method. The results showed that the stock status of P. femoristriga and P. versicolor had experienced growth overfishing and recruitment overfishing with estimated SPRs of 17 and 11%, respectively. Fishing regulations are needed to maintain a sustainable spiny lobster fishery through increased participation of stakeholders in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the regulations set by the government. In addition, it is necessary to reduce of efforts 27 − 33% from the current exploitation rate to E50 0.28.

Understanding oxygen consumption in fish is one of the essential factors in the survival performance of cultured fish. As this information is established, the appropriate size and optimum stocking density of cultured fish reared in an aquaculture system can be determined for successful larval rearing of mahseer in a hatchery. This study aimed to obtain information on the oxygen consumption rate and critical oxygen level of Indonesian mahseer fingerlings at different sizes and stocking densities. This study was conducted in the Laboratory of Fish Reproduction and Genetics, which belongs to the Research Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture and Fisheries Extension, Bogor. A factorial design with two factors (size and stocking density) and three replications were employed to run the experiments. Oxygen consumption rate was measured using a closed respirometer system (volume: 1.4 L) Parameters observed during the study are oxygen consumption rate and critical oxygen level. The results showed that the highest oxygen consumption rate was found at the size of 6-8 cm at 9.52 mg O2/g/minute with a stocking density of 7 fish/1.4 L. Oxygen consumption rate of mahseer was increased with the increase of size and stocking density. In this experiment, the critical oxygen level of mahseer fingerlings was observed at 1.44 mg/L. The obtained critical oxygen consumption could be used as a reference to determine the amount of dissolved oxygen that could support the survival rate of mahseer. In rearing practice, it would be important information used for designing early warning and mitigating culture systems to avoid deterioration of dissolved oxygen levels in the water. Therefore, this study can be recommended for improvement mahseer rearing practice for better hatchery production with providing an appropriate oxygenation system for fingerling growth.

Management and conservation of the blue swimming crabs by the marine protected area method require the abundance and environmental parameter information of the blue swimming crab. The aim of this study is to analyze the changes in the relative abundance of the blue swimming crab and its environmental parameters. The study was conducted from March to July 2015, in the waters of Salemo Island, Spermonde Archipelago. The specimens were collected at the three fishing locations around the mangrove, seagrass, and coral reef ecosystems. The variable of relative abundance of the blue swimming crab is determined catch per effort. Samples of environmental parameters such as temperature and current speed are measured in situ. However, for the salinity, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrate, plankton, and chlorophyll-a were analyzed in the laboratory. A comparison of the blue swimming crab abundance in each ecosystem was conducted by One Way ANOVA. Moreover, the relationship between blue swimming crab abundance with environmental parameters was analyzed by multiple regression. The results show that the blue swimming crab is abundant in the seagrass and coral reefs. The environmental parameter that significantly influences the abundance of the blue swimming crab is salinity. The suitable area for blue swimming carb protection based on abundances are seagrass and coral reef ecosystems.

Small-scale fishery effects are often overlooked by fishery and environmental managers. This study aimed to assess the impact of traditional cockle fishery on its population in the northeastern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The study took place from January 2018 to December 2018. Samples were obtained from Ujung Perling in Aceh Timur Regency, which is the only fishing ground exploited at present. Parameters estimated in this study include growth, mortalities, and exploitation levels. Analysis revealed that the average length was 50.03 mm, with the maximum shell length captured is 78 mm. Von Bertalanffy K-coefficient is 2.3 with a lifespan that can reach 3 years. Natural mortality is 2.27 year-1, while fishing mortality is 6.74 year-1. The exploitation rate in this study is 0.75. Growth parameters indicate that Ujung Perling is a suitable habitat for the cockle to grow, but mortalities and exploitation parameters suggest overexploitation is taking place in the area. To keep the population at a safe level, exploitation needs to be lessened to 33% from the current level.

Budidaya perikanan air tawar yang dilakukan pada budidaya intensif ataupun semi intensif sering menyisakan permasalahan terutama dalam hal pengelolaan limbah hasil budidaya tersebut. Limbah yang budidaya perikanan memiliki beberapa komponen penting yang sangat diperlukan oleh tanaman terutama tanaman hortikultura seperti sayuran. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi oleh kelompok masyarakat pembudidaya ikan lele terutama dalam mengolah limbah menjadi pupuk cair organik. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan pada kelompok petani budidaya ikan lele secara semi intensif di Desa Seulalah Baru, Kecamatan Langsa Lama, Kota Langsa yang berjumlah 40 orang peserta. Dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu analisa situasi mitra, identifikasi masalah, penetuan tujuan, pendekatan sosial dan pelaksanaan kegiatan yang meliputi analisis jumlah dan kontinuitas limbah, penanaman tanaman sayuran, sistem pengambilan limbah, packing, penyimpanan dan metode penambahan zat tumbuh. Pelaksanaan pengabdian memperoleh hasil berupa pemahaman sebesar 95%:5% terhadap petani budidaya lele terutama dalam membudidaya ikan lele secara baik, dapat membuat pupuk cair secara mandiri, mengetahui model pemasaran pupuk cair organik, dan adanya suatu usaha baru yakni pupuk cair organic. Pengabdian yang dilakukan secara langsung kepada masyarakat terutama petani budidaya lele akan mengubah perilaku dan sistem budidaya dengan memanfaakan semua hasil budidaya menjadi produk yang bernilai jual. ABSTRACTFreshwater aquaculture which is carried out in intensive or semi-intensive cultivation often leaves problems, especially in terms of managing the waste from the cultivation. Waste from aquaculture has several important components that are needed by plants, especially horticultural crops such as vegetables. This service aims to solve the problems faced by catfish cultivating community groups, especially in processing waste into organic liquid fertilizer. The service activity was carried out in a semi-intensive catfish farming farmer group in Seulalah Baru Village, Langsa Lama District, Langsa City, with a total of 40 participants. In carrying out the service the stages carried out are analysis of partner situations, problem identification, goal setting, social approach and implementation of activities which include analysis of the amount and continuity of waste, planting vegetable crops, waste collection systems, packing, storage and methods for adding growing substances. The implementation of the service obtained results in the form of an understanding of 95%:5% for catfish farming farmers, especially in cultivating catfish properly, being able to make liquid fertilizer independently, knowing the marketing model of organic liquid fertilizer, and the existence of a new business, namely organic liquid fertilizer. Service that is carried out directly to the community, especially catfish farming farmers, will change the behavior and cultivation system by utilizing all the results of cultivation into products that are of sale value. Rajungan merupakan komoditas ekspor yang memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi, tingginya penangkapan rajungan menyebabkan hasil tangkapan yang diperoleh nelayan semakin menurun. Kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat terkait teknologi penangkapan yang ramah lingkungan dan teknik penangkaran telah memperparah penurunan stok dialam. Model penangkaran rajungan yang berkelanjutan diketahui dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi penurunan stok rajungan dialam. Adapun metode teknis pelaksanaan utama dalam kegiatan ini, yaitu (1) Kegiatan pengelolaan induk mulai dari penampungan dan penerimaan induk bertelur yang tertangkap dari nelayan pemeliharaan bak induk, seleksi induk khususnya yang sudah bertelur, pakan dan pengelolaan kualitas air induk, pengeraman (inkubasi) induk serta penetasan telur rajungan. (2) Pengelolaan kualitas air agar diperoleh kelulushidupan crablet yang tinggi. (3) Pencegahan hama dan penyakit, hama dan penyakit yang sering menyerang seperti ektoparasit dan jamur. Hasil PKM ini merupakan solusi alternatif dalam kegiatan ini dengan membuat sistem RUMÔH BIENG RENJONG dapat memudahkan nelayan dalam memahami konsep ini dibuat sesederhana mungkin, sehingga diperoleh peningkatan stok di alam dari hasil restocking secara mandiri oleh masyarakat nelayan secara berkelanjutan yang nantinya dapat meningkatkan hasil tangkapan dan meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat pesisir, khususnya pelaku usaha perikanan rajungan. The lack of public understanding regarding environmentally friendly fishing technologies and captive breeding techniques has exacerbated the decline in natural stocks. It is known that sustainable crab breeding models can be used to overcome the decline in natural crab stocks. The main implementation technical methods in this activity are (1) broodstock management activities starting from sheltering and receiving egg-laying broodstock caught from fisherman maintenance of brood tanks, selection of broodstock especially those that have laid eggs, feed and broodstock water quality management, incubation (incubation) of broodstock and hatching crab eggs. (2) Management of water quality in order to obtain high crablet survival. (3) Prevention of pests and diseases, pests and diseases that often attack such as ectoparasites and fungi. The results of this PKM are an alternative solution in this activity by making the RUMÔH BIENG RENJONG system easier for fishermen to understand this concept. The recirculation system in the maintenance of tortoise will affect several water quality parameters, also known as water quality dynamics. Water quality such as temperature, DO, pH, turbidity, nitrate, nitrite, alkalinity, total hardness, TAN are parameters that are directly related to the physiological system of fish. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of various recirculation systems on water quality dynamics. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications and fish were kept for 20 days. The results obtained during the research include physical and chemical parameters. The temperature was between 24.5Co-27.6Co, the highest temperature measured in the current recirculation system treatment, the degree of acidity (pH) the average pH value ranged from 6.10-7.42. The value of nitrite ranged from 0.041-0.083 mg/L. Nitrate values ranged on average from 4.40 to 5.32. The average alkalinity value ranges from 44.02 to 77.30 alkalinity has a large effect on pH. Ammonia is produced from the excretory activity of fish, the average value of ammonia is 0.05 – 0.2 mg/L. In this study, the highest survival rate was found in the current recirculation treatment with a survival rate of 99%, and the lowest survival value was found in the non-recirculating treatment with a value of 53.5%. Embryonic development of Asian seabass, Lates calcarifer is a critical phase in the success of larval rearing production in a hatchery. Low production of larvae has been the drawback of the Asian seabass aquaculture owing to diseases and microbial infection to the eggs, causing low egg viability. This study aims to evaluate the effect of different doses of papaya leaf extracts during embryonic development to improve egg hatchability and larval survival. Six different doses of papaya leaf extracts of 2, 4, 6, 10, 20, and 25 mL were used as treatments arranged triplicates in five liter aquaria. The newly fertilized eggs (99 eggs) were immersed in each treatment for five minutes and fifteen seconds. Subsequently, the eggs were moved into 10 L incubation tanks, and samples were collected for embryogenesis observation. The hatchability of eggs was significantly different among treatments. The hatchability of larvae in group with dose of 4 mL was the best treatment (93.94 ± 0.1%) followed by 2 mL (93.88 ± 3%), and 6 mL (90.91 ± 3.0%). The different doses of papaya leaf extract significantly affected larval survival. The highest survival rate of larvae was 2 mL (93%) followed by 4 mL (90%) and 6 mL (70%). There was no significant difference in the hatching time of larvae. The fastest hatching time occurred at the dose of 6 mL about 13 hours and 30 minutes, followed by 2 mL and 4 mL treatment for about 14 hours. This study recommends that the doses of 2 mL or 4 mL of papaya leaf extracts have potential impacts on the improvement of larval rearing production for Asian seabass hatchery.

Cacing sutra merupakan pakan hidup yang disukai ikan khususnya larva ikan. Hal ini karena ukurannya yang kecil sehingga mudah dimakan. Kesesuaian pakan hidup yang diberikan akan semakin membuat besar larva ikan hidup dan tumbuh. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu membantu mitra untuk meningkatkan hasil produksi ikan cupang dengan pemberian cacing sutra yang dibudidayakan dengan sistem apartement. Metode yang digunakan melalui beberapa tahap, yaitu sosialisasi, pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Sosialisasi dilakukan untuk memberikan informasi yang lebih jelas tentang maksud dan tujuan tim mengadakan pelatihan penerapan sistem Apartement. Pendampingan dilakukan berupa pembuatan sistem apartemen dan pembuatan pakan cacing sutra dengan menggunakan ampas tahu yang difermentasikan menggunakan larutan EM 4 dan molase selama 3 hari, kemudian pakan siap digunakan. Hasil monitoring dan evaluasi mitra mampu serta terampil membuat wadah sistem apartemen serta pakan cacing sutra dari ampas tahu. Selanjutnya mitra juga sudah sangat faham bagaimana pola kerja dalam melakukan budidaya cacing serta dengan menggunakan sistem apartemen. This is because of its small size so it is easy to eat. The suitability of the live feed given will make the larger fish larvae live and grow. The purpose of this community service activity is to help partners to increase the production of betta fish by giving silk worms that are cultivated with the apartment system. The method used goes through several stages, namely socialization, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. The socialization was carried out to provide clearer information about the goals and objectives of the team holding training on the application of the Apartment system. Assistance is provided in the form of building an apartment system and making feed for Tubifex sp. by using tofu dregs which was fermented using EM 4 solution and molasses for 3 days, then the feed was ready for use. The results of monitoring and evaluation of partners are capable and skilled in making apartment system containers and tubifex sp. feed. from tofu dregs. Furthermore, partners also understand very well how the work pattern in cultivating Tubifex sp. using the apartment system. Losbter air tawar (LAT) merupakan komoditas perikanan yang memiliki banyak keunggulan sehingga oleh Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan LAT dijadikan komoditas budidaya andalan. Akibatnya permintaan benih LAT semakin meningkat, sementara secara alami LAT hanya memijah 2 kali per tahun. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan performa reproduksi LAT yaitu pemilihan metode perangsangan maturasi yang tepat. Sehingga perlu diteliti tentang beberapa metode perangsangan maturasi induk LAT yang dapat meningkatkan performa reproduksi yaitu fekunditas dan diameter telur LAT. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap, dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali pengulangan. Adapun perlakuan dalam penelitian ini adalah P1 (kontrol), P2 (ablasi tangkai mata), P3 (penambahan vitamin E pada pakan), dan P4 (penyuntikan hormon). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, perlakuan metode perangsangan maturasi yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang tidak berbeda nyata (P>0.05) terhadap fekunditas dan diameter telur, namun berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan kontrol. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode maturasi yang berbeda hanya dapat mempercepat maturasi pada induk LAT dibanding perlakuan kontrol.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pertumbuhan ikan bawal yang diberi perlakuan cahaya pada malam hari. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Pada setiap perlakuan dengan waktu pencahayaan selama P1=12 jam, P2=16 jam, P3=20 jam, dan P4=24 jam. Hasil dari perlakuan tersebut berpengaruh nyata terhadap laju pertumbuhan, bobot mutlak, panjang mutlak, dan rasio konversi pakan (FCR). Sedangkan pada sintasan tidak memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan. Laju pertumbuhan harian tertinggi terdapat pada P4 sebesar 5,30%, sedangkan laju pertumbuhan yang terendah terdapat pada P1 sebesar 4,47%. Berat mutlak tertinggi didapat pada P4 sebesar 25,40 gr, sedangkan berat mutlak terendah pada P1 sebesar 17,91 gr. Selanjutnya pada parameter panjang mutlak yang tertinggi juga pada P4 sebesar 4,66 cm, sedangkan yang terendah pada perlakuan P1 sebesar 3,66 cm. Pada rasio konversi pakan memiliki nilai tertinggi pada P1 sebesar 1,69±0,02 dan terendah pada P2 sebesar 1,45±0,12. Dari hasil perekayasaan dengan waktu pencahayaan pada lingkungan budidaya, semakin lama waktu pencahayaan yang diberikan maka pertumbuhan yang dihasilkan memiliki kategori semakin baik. The method used in this study is an experimental method with 4 treatments and 3 replications. At each treatment with lighting times for P1 = 12 hours, P2 = 16 hours, P3 = 20 hours, and P4 = 24 hours. The results of these treatments significantly influence the growth rate, absolute weight, absolute length, and feed conversion ratio (FCR), whereas the survival does not have a significant difference. The highest daily growth rate is in P4 of 5.30%, while the lowest growth rate is at P1 of 4.47%. The highest total weight in P4 of 25,40 gr, while the lowest total weight at P1 is 17.91 gr. Furthermore, the highest absolute parameter is P4 of 4.66 cm, while the lowest in the first step is 3.66 cm. The feed conversion ratio has the highest value at P1 at 1.69 ± 0.02 and the lowest at P2 at 1.45 ± 0.12. From the results of engineering with the lighting time in the aquaculture environment, the longer the lighting time is given, the better the resulting growth has been. The availability of of milk fish fries has been becoming the inbitor in supporting milk fish production. Herbal ingredients such as papaya leaf’s extract can be an alternative to improve the success rate of hatchings and reduce fry abnormalities. The research aimed to examine the effectivity of papaya leaf’s extract in increasing hatching rate, and reducing the rate of abnormalities in milkfish fries. The treatment consists of six level concentration of papaya leaf’s extract which includes 2, 4, 6, 10, 20 and 25 ml. The research resulted in the highest success rate and the lowest abnormalities occur to the tratment with 4 ml papaya leaf’s extract (89, 94±1, 61 % dan 6, 54±2, 47 %). Therefore, papaya leaf extraction can significantly help to improve the success rate and minimize milk fish fries abnormality. Keyword: milkfish, papaya leaf’s extract, hatching rates, abnormalities.
