Amaç: Gerilim tipi baş ağrısı (TTH), erişkinlerde yaşam boyu ortalama %46 prevalans (%12-78) ile en sık görülen baş ağrısı tipidir. Akupunktur tedavisi, gerilim tipi baş ağrısında yardımcı tedavilerden biri olduğundan, bu çalışmada akupunkturun cinsiyetler arasındaki yanıt farkını değerlendirmek istedik. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu retrospektif çalışmada, poliklinikte konvansiyonel tıbbi tedavi almayan (tıbbi tedaviyi reddeden veya ilaç yan etkileri nedeniyle intoleransı olan) ve önceden belirlenmiş akupunktur tedavisi seanslarını tamamlayan 18-60 yaş arası TTH hastalarının 2017-2019 yılları arasındaki tıbbi kayıtları incelenmiştir. Cinsiyetler arasında aylık atak sıklığı, atak şiddeti (Görsel Analog Skala) ve akupunktur tedavisi öncesi ve sonrası atak süreleri kaydedildi. Bulgular: Kriterlere uygun toplam 17 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Cinsiyetler arası aylık atak sıklığı, atakların süre ve şiddetinde tedavi öncesi ve sonrası istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulunmadı. Kadınlarda aylık atak sıklığı ve VAS (Visual Analog Skala) skoru tedavi öncesi ve sonrası istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde azalmış bulundu. Erkeklerde ise tedavi öncesi ve sonrası aylık atak sıklığı, atakların süre ve şiddetinde istatiksel açıdan farklılık bulunmadı. Sonuç: Akupunkturun kronik TTH tedavisinde ilaç kullanmak istemeyen veya yan etkileri nedeniyle tolerabilite problemi yaşayan özellikle kadınlarda alternatif tedavi seçeneği olarak değerlendirilmesi gerekir., Objective: Tension-type headache (TTH) with an average lifetime prevalence of 46% (12-78%) in adults is the most common primary headache type. Acupuncture treatment is one of the adjunctive therapies in tension type headache so we wanted to evaluate the response difference of acupuncture between genders. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, the medical records of TTH patients, aged between 18 and 60, who did not receive conventional medical treatment (patient refusing medical treatment or intolerance due to drug side effects) and completed pre-determined sessions of acupuncture therapy in the outpatient clinics between 2017 and 2019 were evaluated. The monthly attack frequency, attack severity (Visual Analogue Scale), and the duration of attacks before and after acupuncture treatment between genders were documented. Results: A total of 17 patients meeting the study criteria were included in the study. No statistically significant difference in the frequency, the duration, and the severity of monthly attacks before and after the treatment were found between the genders. The monthly attack frequency and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score were found to be significantly decreased in women themselves before and after treatment in themselves. There was no statistically significant difference in the frequency, duration and severity of monthly attacks before and after the treatment among the men. Conclusion: Acupuncture should be considered as an alternative treatment option, especially in women with chronic TTH who do not want to use drugs or who have tolerability problems due to side effects or combination with medical therapy.

Objective: Botulinum toxin type-A has been recognized as a well-tolerated option for the preventive treatment of chronic migraine. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of botulinum toxin administration in frequency and severity of headache attacks , and also to show the changes in the effectiveness with repetative botulinum toxin applications in patients with chronic migraine. Material and Methods: Data of 29 patients with migraine who were administered botulinum toxin-A at a three-month interval were collected. We evaluated demographic data, monthly attack frequency, and attack severity before treatment, and duration of drug effectiveness.Results: A significant improvement was found in the monthly frequency of migraine attacks (21.7 vs. 11.4 days) and in the Numerical grading score (9.2 vs. 5.6) when compared pre- botulinum toxin type A application period with after the third application period (p < 0.001). The duration of botulinum toxin activity was found to be 3 months and 18 days after the first application, 3 months and 7 days after the second application, and 4 months after the third application.Conclusion: This study showed a decrease in the frequency and severity of headache attacks in patients with chronic migraine who received Botulinum toxin type-A. As the number of applications increased, there was an increase in the pain-free time of the patients., Amaç: Botulinum toksini tip A, kronik migrenin önleyici tedavisi için iyi tolere edilen bir seçenek olarak kabul edilmiştir. Aim: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common cause of mononeuropathy, the pathogenesis and natural course of which has not been fully understood.Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, we aimed to collect data on the role of inflammation and oxidative stress in etiopathogenesis by determining the serum C-reactive protein (CRP) / albumin ratio according to the stage of patients with a CT diagnosis and to determine the possible effects of this ratio on the progression of the disease. Records of patients aged 18-65 who were admitted to our EMG outpatient clinic with a pre-diagnosis of CTS in the last six months of 2019 were collected. According to the neurological examination and EMG results, 50 control and 50 CTS patient records were collected.Results: According to the EMG result, bilateral moderate CTS in 12, unilateral moderate CTS in 10, unilateral severe CTS in 15, bilateral severe CTS in 10, and bilateral mild CTS in 3. CRP, albumin and CRP / albumin ratio between the control group and stages of CTS were not statistically significant.Conclusion: CRP / albumin ratio may return to normal in the subacute-chronic process since our patients don’t have acute CTS. Therefore, in the choice of treatment, analgesics with more analgesic properties rather than anti-inflammatory properties can be selected in the subacute and chronic process. EMG polikliniğimize 2019 yılının son altı ayında KTS ön tanısıyla başvuran 18-65 yaş arası hastaların kayıtları toplandı. Nörolojik muayene ve EMG sonuçlarına göre 50 kontrol ve 50 KTS hasta kaydı toplandı.Bulgular: EMG sonucuna göre iki taraflı orta KTS 12'sinde, tek taraflı orta KTS 10'unda, tek taraflı şiddetli KTS 15'inde, iki taraflı şiddetli KTS 10'unda ve iki taraflı hafif KTS 3‘ünde vardı. Kontrol grubu ve KTS evreleri arasında CRP, albümin ve CRP / albümin oranı istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmadı.Sonuç: Hastalarımızda akut KTS olmadığı için subakut-kronik süreçte CRP / albümin oranı normale dönebilir. Bu nedenle tedavi seçiminde, subakut ve kronik süreçte antiinflamatuvar özelliklerden çok analjezik özelliklere sahip analjezikler seçilebilir. Akut süreçteki hasta sayısı artırılarak bu fikir desteklenebilir.
